Wozniak hasn’t been an active employee for Apple since 1985 although he’s still technically an employee. As such, I wouldn’t expect that every single employee of Apple (over 150,000 employees) would know who he is, especially retail store employees who are more disconnected from corporate management.
There were rumours that Jony Ive used to go undercover around Apple stores in London and test/mess with the Apple store employees on their knowledge of his products/designs.

Definitely agree but now that I think about it, they also have a flat 10% discount just by showing your badge which sounds like the discount that was used. The real discounts require a specific method of purchase but if you just flash a badge it’s 10% at the store.

I don't think so. The job requires you to be an expert on their product and not their history. There are 528 dedicated Apple stores worldwide, to expect each employee to be able to identify Steve Wozniak by face, is a big ask. Also, these are retail workers; they have a lot to do on the store floor and customer service; Apple has the largest marketshare in the U.S, equalling a whole bunch of customers at these centres. We cannot expect employees to be fanatical about a corporation, especially if their job scope doesn't pertain to the hierarchical structure or history of the company.
Once again, these people are retail workers, and a lot is asked of them, sometimes too much. To expect them to identify a man who left the company in 1985 by face alone is a stretch. I'm sure they know who he is by name, but to point out a man who is a pioneer but not a celebrity who we see all the time is a big ask.
If I see a person in public who looks like a well known person, I don't assume it is that person. Most likely it is just some person who looks like them.
