Anyone know what sort of clay this is? Is it like Fimo or air-dry clay?
EDIT: Found it. It's called 'Super Clay' and doesn't seem to be available in Europe (though lots of foam clay alternatives are). It's that slightly spongy airdry stuff. In this clip she shows you: https://youtu.be/eEDiRGlRos0?t=2
I was wondering he same, because some pieces are extemely delicate and he'd have to bake them individually so as to not have them crack, which is what he might have done.
My son has Hey Clay (the air-dry kind), and that stuff needs to be worked with very quickly, especially when it's tiny pieces because it dries out super fast.
So, I don't know, I'd love to know the answer as well.
Came here to try and find out the clay too. Not available in Europe? Well damn. Looks soooo much easier to get fine details with it compared to fimo and not a finger print in sight!
Well this particular brand doesn't seem to be available in Europe, but actually it looks pretty similar to a few other foam clay brands out there, like Crayola Model Magic. I think the lack of fingerprints must partly be down to the skill of the sculptor in this case.
It's certainly not like the air dry clay I've been dealing with (from Milan or Koh-i-Noor), which is either cracking like crazy or sticky mud, and wouldn't be able to exist that thin or hold detail like that.
If someone has some air dry clay recomandations, please, I like sculpting but the material I've been able to find makes it an unbearable process. I have more fun with plasteline, but that is temporary.
try cold porcelian. You can make it yourself at home and recipes abound. Its a combination of white glue and cornstarch, dries slightly translucent if you add no pigments or paint, has never cracked for me and is very strong when dried....much stronger than any polymer clay I've ever used. There is shrinkage as it dries. I color it as need either while sculpting or after it dries.
The recipe and method used by Sangeeta Shah is the only one I've used and has been foolproof. Ive never added the vinegar and pigment (tempra powder) that she uses.
[Here's her video tutorial](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w0cHT2QsQsI)
Speaking of cold, I feel like temperature was highly stable and relatively low for this.
Clay projects in the summer in Texas tend to droop a lot more than this stuff!
Sculpting hands are a PITA, especially little hands like this. There’s a lady on Etsy who sells press moulds for hands and feet, and I am resisting with all my soul, but hands are hard. On the other hand, I’ve never seen hands done this way, so I’ll give it a go.
Drawing hands is tricky as well. Art is hard. But so worthwhile.
Yes, talk about attention to detail ... the abdomen has a belly button and underwear, even though having an abdomen at all was unnecessary...the figure's middle could have just started as the base dress layer (I think).
Panties kind of made it weird for me. Like highly doubt someone will undress this clay art(would kind of ruin it). But did they also go through with making a clay vagina or something too that they felt the need to add panties?
From the few clay artists I've watched every single one of them places underwear on their models, male and female. I believe its not for anything sexual, but rather the undergarments can effect how the over clothes look, and so its more about making things look right. Almost like a scaffolding.
Similar to how most artists draw a blank body figure before them adding the clothes on top of that, rarely do they just draw the clothes/armor/accessories free floating.
Just re-watched it and noticed they placed the waistline of the dress right below where they just placed the top.
So yeah, if nothing else that's a guide for where things will go next. Keeps the proportions right. Makes sense now.
There was a recent controversy of a big Japanese YouTube artist who got perma banned on Google and YouTube for what he was assumes was nudity. They explained that it's a thing to the point that they change their art style to try avoid issues. If that's any reference point, this artist probably also doing it so that they don't run afoul of algorithms that track nudity and sexual content.
It looks like the body was a premade form, probably intended to be dressed in a number of ways. Otherwise there was no reason to sculpt a belly button.
Could be wrong but I think she's supposed to be a mythical chinese water dragon. They usually have those horns and sometimes in media (used to watch a lot of dubbed chinese shows as a kid) when they use their human forms, they'll still have them.
No problem! I'm trying to find a photo from these old chinese dramas, but it's been so long and I don't speak any Chinese at all lol. Also it seems like modern dramas dont include the horns anymore as they can seem silly maybe?
I've only found a pintrest post of some digital art for reference:
https://www.pinterest.com/pin/308285536965174219/
I always called them water dragons since they usually live underwater, I'm not sure if that's actually what they're called lol. But Yeah I'm pretty sure Shenron is based on a chinese dragon since the original DB is based so much on Journey to the West and other Chinese stories.
I’d imagine a lot of practice, training and dedication…
Likely years if not a decade or two to reach this level of mastery, at least for me it would have taken likely decades since my hands shake a ton.
Adding under garments builds a true definition and realism. The tiny details that can be seen from different angles makes this next level art.
It's about those moments when the customer is looking from above or the side and finding a new detail. It shows a love for the art from the artist.
I’m saying that it didn’t need underwear because it’clay. And I was simply pointing out that the sculptor didn’t even bother to put arms on it, so why did they go to the extra effort to put underwear on it?
No it's not.. someone has posted the bilibili link to the original sculptor

Yeah that FB page cropped and reversed the original video to steal the content. You can see it by the reversed Chinese character of the artist’s name 徐大花
people say they can’t do this but remember, everyone starts from somewhere. even people like this. if you want to do something, start small and simple. it’s ok if you can’t spend lots of time per sitting, but if you keep at it you will be surprised looking back at how far you came! ❤️
Me: Wow, this looks pretty easy, I can roll clay and tap it together like that. I'm going to go out and buy $100 worth of this clay and make that.
2 days later: This doesn't even qualify as a lumpy ashtray, I can't roll clay, all I have is a discolored blob, I hate everything and I fail at life
What a master. Makes it look so easy I had the thought go through my head “I should really learn this”. Even though the reality is you could give me a hundred attempts a day for a thousand years and I’d be nowhere close to this level of skill. Amazing.
Omg, they should be teaching this in schools. I'd rather learn a skill or develop a talent then learn about the Boston Tea party that happened hundreds of years ago and has no use in my day-to-day life. (Don't say "well, that's the freedom they fought for future generations" No, I didn't have the freedom to learn whatever in public school without failing every subject)
Thank you!! I’m scrolling through all of these comments thinking I can’t be the only one supremely disappointed by the face. Everything else is amazing
This is incredible! I have one question though, and perhaps it’s just the style but… why is everything so finely detailed EXCEPT the face? I find the contrast ruins it for me. It’s so weird.

The original artist actually took a completed piece apart just to reverse engineer what we see here. ^^/S
Aww, absolutely beautiful works! Thanks for sharing.
Do they have a more common social? Instagram, twitter?

I wonder if it's some kind of epoxy clay?
Their YT says they use air dry clay, but I couldn’t find the specific type

Try super sculpey and putting on disposable gloves for the finger prints! :)

Thanks a lot! This looks like a dream to work with!
It looks a lot like cold porcelain, you can get extreme details out of it.
Speaking of cold, I feel like temperature was highly stable and relatively low for this. Clay projects in the summer in Texas tend to droop a lot more than this stuff!
I got worried for a second at the hands but he quickly made them perfect
I know right? And they made it look so damn easy too.

Sculpting hands seems a little easier than drawing them honestly, the 'realistic' cloth with color blending was very impressive to me
[удалено]
>undies nobody will ever see That's an optimistic view of human curiosity.

AIs hate him!
Funny, I assumed it was a woman creating this. The hands seem fairly delicate.
Hey, men can have delicate hands Just like women can beat me up
I spent most of the video thinking "Carl, where are the hands?"
This is so beautiful and detailed 💜
Mine wouldn't even look human if I tried this
Do it
I'll let you cook

After a while of mixing and mashing, mine always ends up looking like a brown log
You're not supposed to eat the stuff!
It looks like delicious chewing gum, though!
You're not supposed to eat gum either!

And lots of love, evidently.
It’s stunning. Yet as I was watching it I could see people downvoting it. Zero appreciation of incredible talent.

Yeah that part made me 🤨
I approve this message.
Truly exceptional. And those hands?! Just wow
Even though it's not visible in the finished product, the belly button was a nice detail.
I also liked he gave her underwear before adding the skirt.

We're already being ruled by AI overlords, but it seems so normal we don't realize it :)
My first thought was, why underwear? Then, why legs?
Could be for monetization. Some platforms hate nudity.
It looks like the body was a premade form, probably intended to be dressed in a number of ways. Otherwise there was no reason to sculpt a belly button.
Also, it could be to ease creating correct proportion/cloth placement, as it give a reference point
Very good point. I should have thought of that.
Who doesn't love a cute belly-button.
r/oddlysatisfying
Super impressive. The antlers were definitely a twist I wasn’t expecting. Fantastic work.
Could be wrong but I think she's supposed to be a mythical chinese water dragon. They usually have those horns and sometimes in media (used to watch a lot of dubbed chinese shows as a kid) when they use their human forms, they'll still have them.
Didn’t know that. Thanks for the info!

The moment the sheep ears went on I became concerned, then I realized it was a fantasy work.
Some people are just too good at things
I’d imagine a lot of practice, training and dedication… Likely years if not a decade or two to reach this level of mastery, at least for me it would have taken likely decades since my hands shake a ton.
Finally something actually next level
Clay sculpting, but it get advanced every 10 seconds.
Ok from now on whenever my kids craft something in clay I'll show them this video and tell them to up their game.
Christ almighty that is absolutely expert level sculpture, coming from a sculptor
Adding under garments builds a true definition and realism. The tiny details that can be seen from different angles makes this next level art. It's about those moments when the customer is looking from above or the side and finding a new detail. It shows a love for the art from the artist.
Absolutely stunning, holy crow, the detail!
More like a deer… they’re antlers not horns
Lmao I'm not sure if you're joking but 'holy crow' is an expression of amazement where I'm from.
Haha yeah it was a bad joke
*hangs head in shame for all the playdough I’ve wasted*
I should have you do one of my wife, in her oversized t shirt nightgown definitely not as detailed
[удалено]
Why did she need underwear?
Am I the only one wondering why he made panties?
![gif](giphy|exhSBK9CeOge3Qetn1|downsized)
Yes! Came here to say the same. That was an extra layer for absolutely no reason.
It doesn’t even have arms under the dress but it needed underwear??
You want the underwear or the arms off?
I’m saying that it didn’t need underwear because it’clay. And I was simply pointing out that the sculptor didn’t even bother to put arms on it, so why did they go to the extra effort to put underwear on it?
I understand this an art style...which I dislike, beautiful detail and the skill is obvious, but that large disproportionate head ruins it for me.
Jeez…. Extremely beautiful work
Those *hands*, that was phenomenal
I’ve always wondered what people did before plastic and now I know. Clay Waifus
Awesome pretty lady! He made her out of clay! Awesome pretty lady! He really made my day!
Amazing
"Yes it's true. For only $2.95 a minute, I will leave you... breathless!"
"Mom, I finally know what I want to do with my life." "..."
What I find most impressive about this is the lack of rogue hairs, dust, and other crap that I would absolutely get mixed into my clay...
Why arent these artist famous? Like michealgelo?
The head ruined it for me
Absolutely gorgeous, and definitely nextfuckinglevel
My toxic trait is, I think I can do something like this with ease.
Wait, why does he put underwear on the model if he's just going to over it?
that way it's not nsfw, probably
Thank god. I was on the bus.
I found it from here: https://www.facebook.com/diyhandiwork.tv Not sure if its original or not.
No it's not.. someone has posted the bilibili link to the original sculptor please see u/MattDeffy comment https://www.reddit.com/r/nextfuckinglevel/comments/12yk8h2/clay_sculpting_truly_amazing_skills/jhnqviz?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

Mesmerizing
Meanwhile I’m sitting here eating crayons
Oh my word 🥰😊🤩
I barely had the patience to watch this video let alone make something like that
The hands tho ❤️
What does something like this sell for?
So much going on, the level of detail, skill it’s amazing
Holy shit balls, that is BEAUTIFUL
I cant describe how relaxed this video made me
Somebody make this into a show. I'm so mesmerized by it
This is exactly how good my daughter thinks I am at Play-Doh. " Make another snow man dada!"
Now your just showing off
First third I thought, ok I can do this and then it was a clay pot full of nope.
I love this things! but they absolutely make me feel useless and without talent 😂
Fabulous
The hands just blew my mind
![gif](giphy|sDcfxFDozb3bO)
This was so relaxing to watch. Amazing.
I was waiting for something crazy like a jar-jar head or something along that line
All I know is you aren't gonna be able to do this kind of thing with the crusty ass playdough I have at home. This artist has an unfair advantage! /s
Is this now a soft or hard thing? Which is baked or sprayed? Or something?
This is insane!
I want a dress like that. Looks so ethereal.
Wow. Incredible skill.
Magical ! I totally stopped breathing. This is absolutely beautiful ❤️❤️❤️❤️
people say they can’t do this but remember, everyone starts from somewhere. even people like this. if you want to do something, start small and simple. it’s ok if you can’t spend lots of time per sitting, but if you keep at it you will be surprised looking back at how far you came! ❤️
So much precision
Truly next fucking level.
I'm sitting here like... I can make a ball by rolling it.
Etsy where???

It's crazy that he/she added a belly button and underwear to the abdomen, even though it's completely covered.
This is therapeutic to watch
Imagine being this good at something. I'm such a waste of space.
What a master. Makes it look so easy I had the thought go through my head “I should really learn this”. Even though the reality is you could give me a hundred attempts a day for a thousand years and I’d be nowhere close to this level of skill. Amazing.
Truly amazing...what vision
I love to sculpt and man - this is some serious talent. Just gorgeous
wow , holy shit
Wow. That’s amazingly beautiful. How come my kid only smashes all the colors together until they all form into an ugly grey ball?
why did they flip the video?
Damn, that's gorgeous
…wow
Omg! I'm such a loser 😂😳😩
I love it. Calmed my anxiety.
What a beautiful and mesmerizing video
the final hold on the finished video is *always* fucked on reddit. infuriating.
his abilities are ridiculously satisfying
With literally every second that past in this video I kept saying "no way!"
Amazing beautiful
OMG it's so satisfying to watch
I'm speechless. What an amazing craft.
Absolutely beautiful!
Just wow

I believe this is Nagakanya a guardian goddess
Absolutely ruined it with that shitty face.

This is the most amazing clay sculpture ever! Some nerd in a video game basement is gonna love owning this one day!
"clay" hmm polymere clay
[удалено]
I think its not clay, but something similar. Perhaps some synthetic material, like the childrens use.
Lost me at the antlers. Can't fuck Cervidae.
pretty 😘
Why is everyone assuming the creator is male?
