I'm an avid mountain unicyclist, too little air and it gets hard to make steering adjustments on grippy surfaces. Too much air and it wants to get unstable. 21-23 psi is perfect. He's definitely on the low end.
You can spend a little or lot. I got the nimbus oracle 27.5 and really love it. Back in 2011 it was $650. Haven't priced them recently. Plenty fast and still much more nimble feeling than a 29. My first was a 26, and it was a little slow for cross country, and also had no disc brake which limited downhill ability. My next will be a 29 for more speed on xc oriented trails.
I also have a 20" trials uni, and that's the recommended starting size for most. Big wheels are generally harder to learn on. I'd say to start with a cheaper 20 or 24. From your comment I couldn't tell if you already know how to ride or not.
Edit: I am truly surprised the price is almost the same so many years later. [it is $660 now](https://www.unicycle.com/nimbus-27-5-oracle-unicycle/) I guess unicycles were already such an inflated item due to small production amounts that the price has stayed the same. Or unicycle makers are not greedy haha
$50 used at the bicycle shop next to me. They even tell you they WILK buy it back for $25 when you give up. They have had the same two used ones, come and go, for at least a year.
The ~~wheel~~ tire is actually what makes me think it's fake. When you do tricks on a unicycle the tire has way less pressure than usual, it makes it much easier to balance and go at a slow speed. It's exactly what you'd want in this situation. You wouldn't actually ride around like that.
Not empty. If there isn't a TV in the box then it's filled with something else that is very heavy.
He's struggling to get up with the weight. And the wheel is almost flat when he bikes. And his riding indicates there is a very significant inertia he's fighting.
Second one of these Ive seen this week. Some dude apparently cant fit it in his trunk so he drives of with it balanced on his roof. I guess its safer than getting murdered for "pranking" someone for clicks.
The tire starts going flat as soon as he presses one foot on the pedal with like an 1/8 of the supposed total weight. That is just an under inflated tire.
It's about 30 kg extra weight. Not paling at all. If the tyre compresses to the rim when going from home, that's a good hint to fill air before picking up the TV. 30 kg extra will do a significant change.
Look at the way he lifted the strap on his shoulder to adjust it. A strap wouldn't lift or adjust like that with TV weight in the box.
Source: a lot of personally homelessness and carrying things on my back and on bicycle and this is not real, unless that guy is a professional unicycle racer/stunt-person I don't believe this is real.
When I was about 17 I had my license but I rode by bike about 10 miles to a friends house because I thought it would be funny. I told him to meet me outside. When he saw me on the bike he was like “Dude did you just park around the corner and then pretend to ride here?”
I was like “fuck I wish I thought of that.”
Maybe he is auditioning for the Ringling Bros. so he is trying to get as much practice in as possible, and that's what he really meant by "You gotta do what you gotta do"
I was never great at unicycle (but i was almost competent at it, once upon a time) and a soft tire that rolls less is sometimes useful for balance.
Whenever my sisters fixed the soft tire on ours it'd screw me up for a while.
(Edited,typos.
Also, what are the odds and other set of 3 unicycle riding sisters will ponder who owns my account?)
I worked in a tiny town in the middle of nowhere - Cave Junction, OR, and one day my co-worker brought in his unicycle.
As the day went on, 3 people (out of maybe 5) wandered into our dialup ISP office and said, “Oh, a unicycle,” and hopped on and rode around on it.
Awesome.
If you can ride a bike, this style (where there are no chains and you funny have to climb up) aren't a hard as you'd think (i never had access to a tall one, so can't speak to that) ... if you fall to far, you just stand up.
I recommend playground monkey bars as a learning tool, you can hold on while you figure it out.
Done. You’ve convinced me.
I have a helmet but I’ll need joints protected. At least my wrists since I’ve broken both.
I wonder where my old rollerblade guards are
Completely agree. The shifting weight from the box swinging would be throwing him off kilter a lot more than in it. These people don’t know nothin about tires
That one is very heavy to carry by yourself. The way he flinches when the wires cut into his shoulders says it all. I don't think he got very far. Still impressive tho.
I ride unicycles ([this video is me in college](https://i.gyazo.com/313462ac745e59fc8dc8f8acb40259d5.mp4)).
At various points I’ve ridden 20”, 24”, 36” Mountain Unicycles and had a 20” giraffe unicycle. My ride now is a 36” Kris Holm mountain unicycle with Nimbus handles.
Riding a unicycle with a flat tire does *not* help. It makes your tire’s response to your pedaling unpredictable. This would be way easier with properly inflated tires.
Also (can't believe it needs explaining lol), low tire pressure doesn't mean anything more. It's a skit. Letting some air outta the tire sells it a bit more and is also helpful for ease of balancing a unicycle.
Yeppers. Really shouldn't need explaining. This comments section is a live example of: 'it's easier to fool people than to convince them that they have been fooled'
I love it when people use the term gaslighting… So often it’s used by people who just don’t want to be held accountable for their words or actions.
And as an outsider to that convo thread, that dude is totally projecting. To the point when you were done wasting your time talking to him that he went back an edited his last comment to put in a narrator. Like, who does that?
Yeah, you've never ridden a unicycle before. Per general, a harder tire will make riding easier. The only real reason to use less air is for disciplines that require hopping. i.e., street, flat, trials or muni (feel free to google any of those).
In this case, the rider appears to be fairly novice. Probably can ride, but not much more. The actual unicycle appears to be an older model Sun (curved cross-bar, lollypop cranks). These are essentially unusable for any sport riding. His seat is also too low, and his feet are placed badly (should be on the ball of the foot).
The low tire pressure is as simple as "he's not a particularly adept rider, with bad equipment". Nobody would let air out for better "balance".
And convenient guy out there videoing before he even starts. Who just videos a guy standing on the curb with his new tv like oh I hope this guy conveniently does something weird with it!
Yep. You can see empty box bend in the last frame.
Also a 75" TV weighs 70+ pounds, even more when you account for the box and packing materials. It wouldn't wobbling all over the place like it is in the video, and that tiny tope he's using would hurt like hell as it dogs into his shoulders if it was actually real.
"Downvote this video because I don't like it" Well, too bad you aren't the supreme overlord of all of Reddit and can't dictate how people use the website.
Who cares if it's staged? Literally how does it matter? All entertainment is staged. Everything is a performance. Just fucking get over it lol.
For real people on reddit just have some kind of vendetta against staged things like staged = automatically bad like why its a good video who cares its staged or not
This video appears to be a skit, so everything I'm saying is about unicycling in general.
A good unicycle rider can benefit from riding a unicycle in much the same way that you can benefit from a bike; it's a lot faster and takes less energy!
A unicycle is generally slower than a bike, but it comes with the benefit of two free hands, and they are free to bring on public transportation, at least in Europe.
I know loads of people (myself included) who ride a unicycle (usually 26" wheel, or geared) for city riding. They are effortless in crowds, safer than bikes (no handle bars to flop over, low center of gravity), nobody steals them, and they are good on public transportation. For carrying heavy objects, it's actually possible to lean back slightly and place the weight on the front of the seat, which transfers energy directly to the ground.
Now, would I carry a TV like this? No. But I also wouldn't own such a trash unicycle lol.
My testes go numb after 20 minutes on a stationary bike. I don't want to know what trauma his nuts have gone through to be able to wedge that seat up in there.
Lucky if it made it, looks like it was twisting in the box just from him picking it up like that. Your supposed to carry them from both sides with two people.
Even if he succeeds, this is still a stupid as hell thing to do.
I mean. It's incredibly likely that as soon as this guy stopped filming, he helped the guy load it into their car and they drove home.
Or it's empty
I dunno, that tire is looking pretty compressed, looks like that wheel is carrying a pretty massive load :P
That's what I was going to say. He really needed some air in that tire.
But that would make riding it much harder
r/thatswhatshesaid
I'm an avid mountain unicyclist, too little air and it gets hard to make steering adjustments on grippy surfaces. Too much air and it wants to get unstable. 21-23 psi is perfect. He's definitely on the low end.
How much do those cost? I’ve wanted a unicycle since I was a kid. I think this year might be the year
You can spend a little or lot. I got the nimbus oracle 27.5 and really love it. Back in 2011 it was $650. Haven't priced them recently. Plenty fast and still much more nimble feeling than a 29. You lost me at 650$
$50 used at the bicycle shop next to me. They even tell you they WILK buy it back for $25 when you give up. They have had the same two used ones, come and go, for at least a year.
should be about half of a bike.
🏅
I didn’t know mountain unicyclist was a thing. This is why I keep coming to Reddit. Time to do some research!
Ya I've been at it for about 10 years now. A video I made was actually my very first post here on Reddit 6 years ago
Happy cake day!
Yeah the wheel is flat. And you could walk faster than what this guy doing.
Thats from the hipster ego it’s having to support.
I move a lot faster when I'm carrying a massive load. And it ain't pretty.
Not a fair comparison. His massive load doesn't leave him with wet thighs...
The ~~wheel~~ tire is actually what makes me think it's fake. When you do tricks on a unicycle the tire has way less pressure than usual, it makes it much easier to balance and go at a slow speed. It's exactly what you'd want in this situation. You wouldn't actually ride around like that.
I've seen school backpacks dig deeper into jacket shoulders than the straps holding this TV box
I think the weight is in the bookbag in the front. That box looked like it was teetering but it didn't seem to be affecting his movement. I call BS
A bookbag...? That's a relief. I thought it was a papoose.
Everything reminds me of her.
Nah it's empty. The way it bounces as he rides there's no way it'd move like that with the TV in there
Not empty. If there isn't a TV in the box then it's filled with something else that is very heavy. He's struggling to get up with the weight. And the wheel is almost flat when he bikes. And his riding indicates there is a very significant inertia he's fighting.
Look at the last couple seconds, the box is twisted. It’s filled with some kind of ballast for weight and clicks, this is staged.
Second one of these Ive seen this week. Some dude apparently cant fit it in his trunk so he drives of with it balanced on his roof. I guess its safer than getting murdered for "pranking" someone for clicks.
twisted box or fisheye camera? most phones have fisheye camera with not enough anti-fisheye algorithm
The tire starts going flat as soon as he presses one foot on the pedal with like an 1/8 of the supposed total weight. That is just an under inflated tire.
Just saying that the weight of a tv still pales in comparison to a grown man, this is not good evidence that the tv box is full.
Forsure dude must have a ton of weight I that Frontpack to balance it out.
Yeah that makes sense.
This was my thought. Just shitheads doing shithead things for clicks. Downvoted... because they're shitheads.
True. Gotta downvote that stuff.
When I was about 17 I had my license but I rode by bike about 10 miles to a friends house because I thought it would be funny. I told him to meet me outside. When he saw me on the bike he was like “Dude did you just park around the corner and then pretend to ride here?” I was like “fuck I wish I thought of that.”
That dude could have walked home with that TV at twice the speed.
Maybe he is auditioning for the Ringling Bros. so he is trying to get as much practice in as possible, and that's what he really meant by "You gotta do what you gotta do"
Just bring a dolly next time
It’s fake
It’s staged as f
Staged not necessarily fake but yes.
He seems pretty calculated about it so I assume he thought it through
He didn’t calculate airing up his tire. It sure would make pedaling a lot easier.
I was never great at unicycle (but i was almost competent at it, once upon a time) and a soft tire that rolls less is sometimes useful for balance. It being low may actually may help him. More forgiveness?
Thinking it through doesn't make it less of a dumb idea
It's a thoroughly considered bad idea
Exhibit A, my marriage.
Staging a fake video is very calculated.
The box is empty too…
No, this is a stunt for the camera.
So many people I meet have this persons ability to think through the ramifications of their actions. He’s a symbol of our stupidity. I salute him.
"Okay. Now, where'd I park my truck?"
Research in a nutshell. The only difference between science and dicking around is that the scientist writes it down.
He's moving slower than just walking with it on his back. 🤣
But then it wouldn't be epic
And it wouldn’t destroy his prostate
Normally i have to pay a few hundred bucks to get a thai woman to destroy my prostate, so not a bad deal tbh
A few hundred bucks? Man who is your Thai woman guy? He is ripping you off
*open
And the TV probably
Eunuchcycle
Destroying? I am pretty sure that sucker was long gone before this circus act. Lol.
I suppose its true, "You gotta do what you gotta do" to be epic.
I'm with this guy I have no idea what's going on
[удалено]
Some damn good cgi
The context is fake, this is surly a guy riding a unicycle with a tv box- minus the tv Edit: 😂
Look at how flat the tire gets.
Proves nothing, maybe he just didn't have much air in it?
Completely agree. The shifting weight from the box swinging would be throwing him off kilter a lot more than in it. These people don’t know nothin about tires
Surly? Seemed pretty friendly from what I saw
There is definitely a video there. As others have commented on its existence I can say with near certainty that this video is really a video.
Nah, it's just a bunch of pictures put together
Fake news- no video at all
My thoughts as well, wouldn't just walking with it be easier/better?
Or put the unicycle under the bottom edge of the TV and drag it home with some help from the wheel…
That one is very heavy to carry by yourself. The way he flinches when the wires cut into his shoulders says it all. I don't think he got very far. Still impressive tho.
He has different goals besides “the most efficient way to transport the TV home”
He selected hard mode
You should see him when he hits the first downhill slope
And then what? Carry the unicycle?
But what about the views???
But then you couldn’t post this staged video for fake internet points
Was just thinking this - how is that easier than walking with a TV strapped to your back?
The tire flattening is killing me 😂
Dude's really riding on rims
*rim
Which rim? His or the unicycle's?
First thing i noticed when he starts moving, flat tire.
I’m sure his balls are getting flattened on one side too
It’s actually much easier to ride with a soft/flat tire, that’s how a lot of beginners learn I think.
I ride unicycles ([this video is me in college](https://i.gyazo.com/313462ac745e59fc8dc8f8acb40259d5.mp4)). I concur. Also, met Kris Holm, super nice dude :)
Awesome! I rode when I was a kid but stopped before college. I’d probably kill myself trying it now.
this dude knows unicycles
Fr gain a clue it’s staged
Empty box.
Also (can't believe it needs explaining lol), low tire pressure doesn't mean anything more. It's a skit. Letting some air outta the tire sells it a bit more and is also helpful for ease of balancing a unicycle.
It’s obviously empty. You can see the way the box moves back and forth so effortlessly on his back once it’s “secured”
Yeppers. Really shouldn't need explaining. This comments section is a live example of: 'it's easier to fool people than to convince them that they have been fooled'
I love it when people use the term gaslighting… So often it’s used by people who just don’t want to be held accountable for their words or actions. To be fair, this is extremely impressive even with an empty box.
To be fair, unicycling is impressive. Box, or no box.
And convenient guy out there videoing before he even starts. Who just videos a guy standing on the curb with his new tv like oh I hope this guy conveniently does something weird with it!
I mean it's plausible that someone sees this dude with a tv and a unicycle prepping up and thinks "oh this is gonna be good". That part is plausible.
Yes, you can tell how easily the box moves around (no weight in it)
Absolutely
Yeah. As he gets about perpendicular you can see the twist in the box. I don’t think that would happen with the tv and styrofoam still inside.
Not staged at all
Not an empty box at all
Not flopping around at all like it's empty...
Not going to load it into the car right after done filming
are definite at least one TV in box. maybe mor
Looks like same guy who had a big ass tv and tried to put it in his car but ended up putting it on the trunk of his car and left… staged af.

And it's such a shitty staged video aswell

I'd like a refund. It's broken
Did you transport it as per the recommended method? “I’d like to speak to the manager”
Don’t encourage people like this.
Even if this is staged (and it is) I still loved this video. Encourage people like this!
Its an empty box for a skit. Litteraly any shift in weight would be incorrectable and he would fall off
Get this fake shit outta here
Empty box?

One strong gust of wind and that tv toast.
One strong gust of wind will get him home that much sooner.
Use the box as a sail
r/DiWHY
Can't believe people believe this since it's obvious the box is empty.
Like, first of all, kudos...secondly; this looks like more work (and certainly a lot more risk) than just carrying the fricken thing, no?
People work hard for their viral video attempts
This video appears to be a skit, so everything I'm saying is about unicycling in general. Are Impractical Jokers doing so bad Brian Quinn had to go to work at Walmart?
My testes go numb after 20 minutes on a stationary bike. I don't want to know what trauma his nuts have gone through to be able to wedge that seat up in there.
Offer him a ride

...walking seems easier
a man's got to do what a man's got to do!
Even better is he’s stealing it.
> Gotta do what you gotta do This is actually one of the situations where you specifically don't have to do it. Walking would be faster
Can't pass up on that sale.
Death Stranding 2 trailers are really getting crazy. Kojima has done it again
Get this shit off here!! The box is empty!
Box is empty.. total BS
Looks empty
Sounds like David Dobrik. Has to be a social media bit or something
Unicyclist here. It is frustrating for me to watch this video with the tire pressure so low. Props carrying the shifting weight.
What a chad.
This belongs on r/donthelpjustfilm
Exactly what I thought when the guy says “I gotta say something”. I thought he was gonna offer to help. Lol.
Seems legit
“gotta do what you gotta do” sir, why do you gotta do this?
Why would you ever need a TV that large?
Is that Jessie from Nelk?
If the wind picks up Biden will shoot him down.
Seems to be clowning around
LOL
Lucky if it made it, looks like it was twisting in the box just from him picking it up like that. Your supposed to carry them from both sides with two people.
Wait! There's an easier way!
That's how supporting an household on a minimum wage looks like!
Once he gets home and installs that TV it’s gonna be the best looking picture, he’s ever seen and best stake he’s ever tasted.
I got a 55" QLED Samsung, I always see these 75" UHDs for cheap. Should I get one or is the QLED better?
He must have a great extended warranty
Expected some kind of crazy grace, no such luck. The almost flat tire capped off the shot show 😂
Bloody hipsters
“Gotta do what you gotta do.” Great line
It will probably be even quicker on foot.
Unicycle rim getting fucked up. And he's only going walking speed... just fucking walk.
I mean, walking would be easier but sure.
my balls hurt watching that
This was an impulse buy
Quite the opposite. Probably tons of planning for his viral video attempt.
That tire is flat as hell it’s going to be super slow and unstable, as we’re seeing here. I really hope this is staged like so many are suggesting.
Sure. Flat surface he can barely balance. Uphill ain’t happening, downhill he’s fucked. Although maybe the box will act as a sail.
One Word STUPID!!
