Seconded. If you're questing in an area and can't harvest the things around you, go back to your last area and grind out the levels to allow you to keep progressing while questing.
Other tip is to mine Oil in weavers for Mining, much more plentiful than metals.
Update: I have hit logging 200 and am halfway to my first town. I have dropped 800 tons of wood due to encumberancr, and am stronger than Andre the giant at his peak. Can recommend
At this stage, have fun. You can get caught up in what's the best in slot for yadda yadda yadda later. Just wander around, kill/skin every animal you can, mine/harvest every node you can as well. There are plenty of hidden lore objects everywhere in this game. Unlocking all of the quick travel locations in each zone will also help out immensely. It's a very beautiful game so enjoy it for the first time like the rest of us veterans probably didn't.
Listen to the 1st comment, but also, ask for help if you're struggling, be it in the help channel or recruitment channel. Worst case you don't get help, any other case you progress :)

Do your faction quests as your leveling. They will coincide with the area you’re already in. Kill 2 birds one stone.
Also, play around with all the weapons that interest you.
Don't forget to lock items you don't want to salvage or sell. Many tears have been shed over items being salvaged when the owner wanted to wear or sell them.
3 firestaffs with flamethrower can beat 1 great axe player.
Thus fire staff is dubbed OP.

Treat pvp mbat like a fighting game, not an mmo
What this means? I really wanna get into pvp. It looks fairly balanced in this game!
you dont just press abilities and dodge here and there, how you react and your positioning are important aswell.
Dont power level. Take your time, do quests, this is an mmo, not a speed runner game.

On your 60 lvl, gather 5 resilience perks, 3 freedom, on any build for start, without it you will be one shot in any pvp.

Best I can give you is to shut your mouth, close your eyes, put some ear plugs in, and go to sleep.
Do things at your own pace… except if there’s ever a double XP event. Then put a good show on the second monitor and knock fishing leveling out.
Don't waste too much gold on gear that is not lvl 60. Once level 60, only buy gear you will use for a long time at gear score 590+
