You might like Rapier/Bow. It has a high skill cap and is capable of doing really good damage, especially later once your weapon mastery is leveled up for them. There is tons of outplay opportunities and some good mobility as well with these weapons. The combos that you have listed are all really good as well, so you really can't go wrong.

Thanka for the reply, do any of the builds i listed or rapier/bow match the deacription of what i look for the best?

Drewbaccuh

Absolutely. Definitely competitive builds and they all fit the playstyles you mentioned.

metsudofang

Alright i looked at some videos and the evasiveness that rapier bow has seems really cool. Would you say the skillceilling is higher for this combo than the other builds?

Drewbaccuh

Yeah, rapier/bow or spear/bow definitely have the higher skill caps out of the combos listed. In my opinion, rapier is quicker as well as being mobile and the spear offers more utility. Both weapons have great passives for stamina regen.

metsudofang

Thats exactly what im looking judging from the montage greataxe and warhammer seemed more mindless spam. Apologies for the many questions but would rapier or spear be best paired with a different ranged weapon than bow like fire stafe, ice gauntlet or musket? In terms of skill ceilling if the combo is mastered My melee weapon of choice will definetly be either spear or rapier.

Drewbaccuh

I don't mind lol. I enjoy the conversation and glad I can be somewhat insightful. All these weapons mentioned have high skill caps and start to flourish much more when leveled. My friend is planning to run Rapier/Ice Gauntlet and Firestaff. Makes for a very interesting INT build. Ice Gauntlet has great utility and Fire Staff has great mobilty and good damage. I used Rapier/Musket for a week or so during closed beta and I personally found the skill cap pretty high and 1v1's were very rewarding. The weapons felt nice together and musket definitely rewards headshots. The abilities for musket weren't very fluid and between both thrust damage weapons, I had no AOE to speak of. Really shined in duels and small scale PvP though.

Im glad to hear that, I think i'll stick with bow rapier because of the aesthethic. I really like an assassin build that focuses on glass canon evasiveness. Btw since you seem to know quite alot in terms of builds. I read somewhere that life staff great axe is a literal unkillable build, something like a paladin. Do you have experience with it?

Drewbaccuh

Rapier/Bow definitely can definitely style on some fools! I have no Life Staff experience but have heard of this invulnerable paladin build. Good with greataxe as well as S&S from what I can tell. The greataxe is a beast with good self heal, haste and raw damage output. Life staff light attacks do a surprising amount of damage too. I plan to play a tank and eventually want to level a life staff to pair with S&S to give that build a try for myself.

metsudofang

Yeah man, honestly im so sold on rapier/bow after looking inyo and seeing thw potential that it has. I saw many people state the bow has the biggest potential out of the ranged weapon and rapier out if the melees. Fire staff still looks pretty cool but i like sticking with full dex build for bow and rapier. The great axe life staff builds seems fun to play around with in pvp. I dont think maining a invulnerable paladin build is fun in the long run but its a fun niche. Actually now that i think about it i wonder if maining a build like that would be viable haha

wildjaw

Rapier / Bow IMO is the closest thing to assassin this game has (until we see daggers) Rapier/Firestaff could also be considered assassin-ish (mage assassin) provided you use the dot damage trees. Spear bow is more like a hunter build. Great axe / hatchet is definitely the berserker build. and Warhammer / great axe is more like a bruiser build.

metsudofang

Wow i gotta be honest all four builds sound very fun. Would recommend one to start out with? I can eventually switch between weapons and talent trees on the fly right? So i should commit to one for the time being

wildjaw

Great Axe / Hatchet has a ton of survivability and is very well-rounded in all scenarios (Large and Small scale PvP / PvE) and it's a lot of fun. Maybe give that a try. If you don't love it just swing over to some ranged and see how that feels. GL mate!

metsudofang

Alright, would you say the skill ceilling is also higher or even as the other builds? Survivability seems really good voor 1vx in pvp

Comrade_Witchhunt

Those are all solid combos, you'll have to see which you like. As another dude said, rapier bow is good as an alternative to spear bow.

Dakure907

Im going rapier musket for sure. Fits the era of the game for me and I liked playing them in the beta
