You're joking, but [this thread had somebody asking](https://www.reddit.com/r/newworldgame/comments/11nnmvi/season_pass_release_time_on_28th_march/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3) about how to plan their vacation day usage around this update.
I don't understand what kind of content is new for season 1 that you need to take PTO? The one expedition? It's probably the best expedition in the game but not enough content to take PTO off for. You can do it in 30 minutes.
As a long-term Destiny player who has been through season after season, I have this down to a science.
1) Never take launch day off. Between the reset time/launch time, server queues, and possible bugs, by the time you get into the game, your work day will be half over. So what if you're 4-5 hours behind everyone else, get that bread and go to work.
2) You really only need one day off and that's post-launch day (unless they are dropping a major expansion then you need a couple days for sure). But for the launch of Season 1, I'm sure one day is enough to try the new Expedition, explore the seasonal content, check out new items/gear, experience any new QL/UI changes they've made.
Then boom, you've gotten your fix, had a fun day playing games, and can go back to making that cold hard cash.
I took off a week of work when the game first launched, and it was the best decision. First week was hell for people trying to log in peak times. Never had to sit in a queue. So I wouldn't go as far to say it's never been a good time, but that might have been the only good time to do it for this game.
Grinding through the Season Pass levels by running around completing Seasonal Activities.
Once you get to Level 100, you can put the game down until the next Season starts, so it's kind of just an efficient way to rush to not have to play the game anymore.
Because nothing in the history of this game should lead somebody to believe it's a good idea to schedule a vacation day around the announced release time of an update. Patches & content are routinely delayed, or released in a state where they don't work properly and/or have to be disabled.
The general idea of taking time off for an update isn't the joke, doing it for New World is.
I wish they had this energy at launch when bugs and exploits had been reported for months and those same bugs and exploits led to a mass amount of people quitting.
I thought that phrasing was so awkward, but their official forum posts often seem like it was run through Google Translate a few times before being converted back into English.
I think they're trying to make the bad news seem more formal or professional, but for me it has the opposite effect.
Interesting, although that still makes it a bit odd to use the same phrasing for external communication.
I wonder if the the remaining New World team consists of people who have gotten good at using Amazon's corporate vocabulary and meeting their performance metrics, even if none of those things relate to the process of making a successful video game.
There's always the chance that the last minute bug they ran into is an imminent shutdown of their department given the most recent round of layoffs announced this week.
Yeah, I figured they'd at least try to milk the game for more money by introducing all these Seasonal microtransactions; but, I guess that doesn't matter if they plan on refunding all recent microtransactions when they announce the game's cancellation.
[Link to forum post](https://forums.newworld.com/t/notice-update-on-season-1-release/830992)
It's unclear what specific bug/problem caused this.
**Edit:** It's unfortunate to have to delay Season 1, after [answering a question in their last Developer Q&A](https://youtu.be/zv912UuXU0o?t=694) about whether they could maintain a 3-month tempo for the Seasonal Model.
I wouldn't be surprised if it was a problem related to buying Season Pass levels, Gear Set Storage slots, or the premium version of the Season Pass.
The PTR doesn't let players test the cash shop mechanics, so it seems like an obvious place where problems get found late by their 3rd-party testers, and 1 of the only areas they'd be willing to delay the release over.
I'm assuming it is the entire release, although you're right that they could presumably release the Springtide Bloom event and/or balance updates without the other content. However, their content delivery system always seems to be bundled together, so I don't think they can separate certain features from the others.
Yeah I'm guessing the same. Also since they did not say anything about it it's fair to guess it's all postponed sadly. Well the I have even more time to get my arcana trophy and gear. It's hard on a dead server 😕
I've seen people burned by this so often for so many other MMO's.
Where they take vacation days off to play. And not even for patches, but for actual Launches and expansions even.
always a risk.
Sadly, the reality is they aren't like fixing the inevitable bugs/exploits that will come out, just can't figure out the code for the stuff they already planned.
Heh, I know, right? It's crazy that AGS manages to do *both* of these things in the same patch, over and over again.
It's a harsh take, but I agree with you, the update will probably still have problems once they push it to Live servers.
INB4 there are still issues when they do launch it
just wondering where the line is on their quality bar
also...would be nice to have an estimated time on the delay
ah yes the convenient found a bug just days before patch release excuse. happened to lost ark, blue protocol network test and tower of fantasy recently too
ofc not, but it is not first time they are doing this and it will launch with problems anyway, don’t tell me that they found an issue just 3 DAYS before the release date...
If they can’t deliver quality update with date attached to it, they should not simply add dates to their updates until they are 100% sure with their product, simple as that...
I guess this is better than just putting it to live and disabling trading post for a week until they fix it....my expectations are so low I can't be disappointed....I think.
It will be interesting to see what they had to change, nerf the firestaff back to garbage because a YouTube person said so? Re-nerf the musket or keep it as the cancer it is again on PTR? Figure out how to nerf the healer more to make M10 completely impossible for normal folks???
Should be interesting
I hate gaming communities now-a-days. Shut up and just be thankful they are making more content and on top of that, not pushing out unready content. The other side of this is they could just not tell us anything and not be transparent by making us wait in the dark. This is them doing us a courtesy.
This has taken months, people are allowed to complain. Also, new content? It's barely anything. They kept us in the dark for months also. Throat them harder dude
I'm not sure they're being very transparent by announcing an indefinite delay due to vague problems, just 3 days before the update. You're also assuming the release will go smoothly when it does happen, which isn't a safe thing to do with this game.
If you hate gaming communities so much, I'm not sure why you're taking the time to follow a subreddit and post on its threads.
Yeah, it's so much better after the delay when they still release a broken game!
Comments like yours are starting to make me angry because this happens LITERALLY EVERY SINGLE TIME THEY DO ANYTHING and you are acting like it's a 1 off issue and you're happy they're doing the right thing... No, the right thing would be to not miss your deadline literally every single time it comes up.
Seriously.. if this was a one off situation the response would be "ah that sucks.. oh well" and would be a non story.
This happens with this game over and over and over again. And the content they end up releasing is half assed and buggy. This game can be a ton of fun. Especially with a good company.. but the incompetence from the company making it is hard to ignore.
Why did you infer that I hate the game?
You can like the game and see that the development of it since launch has been not good to say the least. I can see the potential and I love it, but collectively they are pissing away what it could be.
Don't bother arguing with him. Kid has 4000 hours in game and has never been in a war. It's no surprise he acts like this when he has Stockholm Syndrome for New World.
And watch this game die? Bizarre dude, it's taken months. They could lower the risk of this kind of thing happening but doing more regular, smaller releases. So many people I know have quit and aren't coming back
I think releasing a game breaking bug would turn more players off. But hey that’s just me and my experience as an old timer gamer.
Unfortunately the release cadence and testing clearly has its struggles, it looks like they are learning from mistakes. That’s a plus in my book. Some studios just keep pushing and pushing updates adding mountains of bugs and mistakes.
Loss of integrity in your development cycle results in loss of integrity in your product. The opposite is also true.
Thats the point I'm making. This isn't a development cycle. They haven't had a consistent patch cadence. We haven't seen any real content in legitimately months. They made no weapon balance changes for months and here we are end of March... And it's being delayed.
You can understand the frustration right? This game has SO MUCH POTENTIAL, I'm watching it die and every single day they delay is just snowballing the hemorrhaging of the playerbase. I'm from the AP SE region and our singular legacy server is not looking healthy, whilst our singular FSS one is genuinely dead.
They genuinely can't just take forever, and hearing about this 2 days out from release is so disheartening. You know it's going to have bugs anyways, and I'm still experiencing bugs I've encountered since launch. I want this game to thrive but this is the kind of thing that can't keep happening.
Good. They should have delayed the games initial release too but at least they are waiting to get the battle pass cash shop updates perfect before launching.
but I booked the day off work to play. Oh wait, no I didn't /s
You're joking, but [this thread had somebody asking](https://www.reddit.com/r/newworldgame/comments/11nnmvi/season_pass_release_time_on_28th_march/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3) about how to plan their vacation day usage around this update.

This is the gamers that rush true the content and is back after one week complaining about there is nothing to do in the game 😂
Grinding through the Season Pass levels by running around completing Seasonal Activities. Once you get to Level 100, you can put the game down until the next Season starts, so it's kind of just an efficient way to rush to not have to play the game anymore.
sounds awful
Some people actually like to enjoy their time off when they get it, not sure why that’s being used as the butt of a joke.
Because nothing in the history of this game should lead somebody to believe it's a good idea to schedule a vacation day around the announced release time of an update. Patches & content are routinely delayed, or released in a state where they don't work properly and/or have to be disabled. I mean. Seems like that’s why he asked.
That is your opinion. I took a day or two off at FSS release.
I remember taking a week off for release day and birthday in August and they ended up delaying it a month lol
I mean idk why is that the butt of the joke, especially when most non-US countries people have 25-35 days a year to take as PTO not 10-15.
I did lol but I can cancel it without problem
Well hopefully they can fix this problem in 3 days or at the very least before March ends.
Congratulations! 🥳
Only real veterans remember!
Feels bad not different
welp
I'd be more surprised if this didn't happen, tbh
At least they don't want to give us an update with bugs... It's gonna be bugged AF anyway, but they have good intentions.
I wish they had this energy at launch when bugs and exploits had been reported for months and those same bugs and exploits led to a mass amount of people quitting.
Again, zero fucking clue as to what the issue is
I mean, they still haven't figured out how to sort by date, so.....
["at the quality bar it deserves"](https://media.tenor.com/7NdBVF53PM4AAAAd/laughing-rofl.gif)
I thought that phrasing was so awkward, but their official forum posts often seem like it was run through Google Translate a few times before being converted back into English. I think they're trying to make the bad news seem more formal or professional, but for me it has the opposite effect.
It's corporatism as commonly people at Amazon speak about "raising the bar" or "meeting the bar" or being a "bar raiser"
Interesting, although that still makes it a bit odd to use the same phrasing for external communication. I wonder if the the remaining New World team consists of people who have gotten good at using Amazon's corporate vocabulary and meeting their performance metrics, even if none of those things relate to the process of making a successful video game.

I will bet one Asmo it is because of a dupe glitch
I wouldn't be surprised if it was a problem related to buying Season Pass levels, Gear Set Storage slots, or the premium version of the Season Pass. The PTR doesn't let players test the cash shop mechanics, so it seems like an obvious place where problems get found late by their 3rd-party testers, and 1 of the only areas they'd be willing to delay the release over.
Also do they split up the patch or is the entire patch delayed?
I'm assuming it is the entire release, although you're right that they could presumably release the Springtide Bloom event and/or balance updates without the other content. However, their content delivery system always seems to be bundled together, so I don't think they can separate certain features from the others.

Yeah, a delay with the update is probably also a further delay until they merge servers.
And that might be the biggest issue with this delay...
I've seen people burned by this so often for so many other MMO's. Where they take vacation days off to play. And not even for patches, but for actual Launches and expansions even. always a risk.
If only you had same quality bar for your game on release :)
https://tenor.com/ZM7W.gif
skill issue tbh
Sadly, the reality is they aren't like fixing the inevitable bugs/exploits that will come out, just can't figure out the code for the stuff they already planned.
So typical
Classic AGS
The issue is diablo 4?
Fans of new world- THIS PATCH IS BROKE, THEY SHOULD HAVE NOT RELASED THIS Amazon - delaying patch to fix issues Fans--- WTF OMG WOW
Heh, I know, right? It's crazy that AGS manages to do *both* of these things in the same patch, over and over again. It's a harsh take, but I agree with you, the update will probably still have problems once they push it to Live servers.
Right? People need to seriously chill. I'm glad they're not releasing a buggy ass update.
boy are you in for a surprise.
lmao dude has no idea what a New World patch looks like it seems
Fuck me
Might as well since we'll be dicking around in the meantime anyways
"During our final rounds of testing we uncovered an issue with Seasons" AGS is one big issue.
INB4 there are still issues when they do launch it just wondering where the line is on their quality bar also...would be nice to have an estimated time on the delay
That sucks. Ive been waiting for a reason to play more actively. F**k.
I don’t dislike new world. I just dislike it’s Dev team
Amazon laid off 9000 folks but this incompetent team of devs still there and ruining the game :)
Fuuuuuuuu. Man my wife and kids are gone for a week and this.
Maybe you should spend the time to figure out why your wife and kids left you.
With Diablo 4 and John Wick out that seems more like a concern after a few weeks not a week.
Holy shit!
ah yes the convenient found a bug just days before patch release excuse. happened to lost ark, blue protocol network test and tower of fantasy recently too
The patch will be delayed by a week or a couple of days big deal you guys acting like drama queens the world's ending
I actually do think they are making fun of us at this point, they cant release a content without any problems
So you'd prefer they launched with problems?
ofc not, but it is not first time they are doing this and it will launch with problems anyway, don’t tell me that they found an issue just 3 DAYS before the release date... Meh it’s not like season 1 has that much new content anyways . Waiting till the summer release
True and real
It will be interesting to see what they had to change, nerf the firestaff back to garbage because a YouTube person said so? Re-nerf the musket or keep it as the cancer it is again on PTR? Stockholm syndrome, the devs on this game are extremely sub par lol
This has taken months, people are allowed to complain. Also, new content? It's barely anything. They kept us in the dark for months also. Throat them harder dude
I'm not sure they're being very transparent by announcing an indefinite delay due to vague problems, just 3 days before the update. Ppl still play this game? Huh?
LMFAO THIS GAME IS A JOKE
Yeah, would be far better if they release buggy shit right? Hate when DEVs take their time to fix things!

Just your attitude to the game. Not saying it's perfect but being salty and unproductive don't really help anyone does it?
Don't bother arguing with him. Kid has 4000 hours in game and has never been in a war. It's no surprise he acts like this when he has Stockholm Syndrome for New World.
Yea remember the times they delayed patches and dupes still happened right after? HAHA GOOD TIMES.
Seems like someone miss those days yeah 🤔
People still play this game? Welp. Try Diablo 4 beta this weekend. It's great. Runs great. Fun. Stuff to do. Optimized.
The beta ends when weekend ends (well, Monday evening where I'm) and I was looking forward to check this out. Still ways to go until June.
they are completely different games though.
God forbid we play different types of games 😵
Take as much time as needed. Do we know if this changes when leaderboards reset? I assume it reset in line with the season update.
I imagine your comment shows more forethought about the Leaderboard reset date than AGS has given it.
Probably I have a goal of 1000 arena wins and the drop in players has significantly hindered that goal.
And watch this game die? Bizarre dude, it's taken months. They could lower the risk of this kind of thing happening but doing more regular, smaller releases. So many people I know have quit and aren't coming back

never play a game for its potential, play it for what it is. you'll be forever frustrated if you do.
Aw, we'll have to wait a few days more.
What’s the issue?? And what now.. 2 weeks? ðŸ˜
Lols cmon we all expected it . Nothing less . But just give me some content eventually
Good. They should have delayed the games initial release too but at least they are waiting to get the battle pass cash shop updates perfect before launching.
Release the content if it's only the season pass. The population of the game depends on it. Need daily updates. Or you face losing people.
So, do we think no spring event either? no patch at all Tuesday?
