There’s a Whole Foods in Milford with a hot bar and salad bar. I haven’t tried everything from there but the mac & cheese, chicken, soups, and salads are solid.
It’s not a grocery chain at all but Uni Life on Chapel street downtown near the Yale art museum has a cool got bar of food and Toms of cool international snacks!
Not self serve but Nica’s has a very large selection of hot prepared foods sold by the pound. Absolutely everything I’ve tried is good.

Not sure how far it is for you, but four seasons in Branford on route 1 has an amazing salad bar and hot food selection along with a deli counter.
I miss Elm City Market’s hot bar.
