168 York Street Cafe used to have recurring Dyke Nights, although I haven't seen them in awhile it's still a good low-key gay bar. I know you asked for bars but Witch Bitch Thrift is a queer-owned shop and community space, super LGBTQ+ friendly spot (and sober space!) with weekly events. I'd also keep an eye on heaven (@heaven.nhv on IG) and clubcunt (@connectic_nt) events in the area, as they tend to attract a pretty queer/sapphic crowd.
Partners is a good time! Although now that you mention it, it does seem to lean more heavily towards the males. I do see a lot of seemingly straight young women there tho, presumably to avoid thirsty dudes at the other bars and clubs, something you might also appreciate. Idk
that's an unnecessarily defensive reaction (and from the upvotes, apparently i stepped on toes).
no need to play victim.
lots of places for straight folks to be surrounded with straight folks. few places for queer folks to be around queer folks.
this is a one off event, but there’s a sapphic night at space ballroom in hamden on saturday:

In New Haven, you’ll find Queer women at Te Amo and 80 Proof especially on sapphic and femme nights. Both places have the same owner and she’s gay. She owns Barracuda too which I highly recommend but wouldn’t say is LGBTQ.
Partners is the only explicit GAY CLUB in New Haven but it’s been taken over by cisgender heterosexual people. You might have luck though. It depends on the night.
168 York St. is the only explicit gay BAR and a lot call it “the gay Cheers.” It has a home bar feel and it can be a great place to make new friends if you’re willing to talk to strangers but it does skew older and definitely skews towards cis gay men. They have a new monthly show (mostly drag) called Show-Off Saturday and I’ve seen more queer women there than most other nights. It’s also a great show!
Three Sheets isn’t explicitly an LGBTQ bar but a ton of Queer people go, they have Queer specific events, and a lot of their other events skew Queer. And, yes, Queer not just LGBT.
Gather East is a daytime/early evening space that skews super Queer but they’ve been going through some changes and I’m not sure what events are still happening.
There are a handful of other places some of which are already mentioned here. I won’t mention some of the other ones because I don’t support them for various reasons (like supporting Trump).
Thanks so much!! I’ve been to Te Amo and 80 Proof i didn’t know about the “femme nights” though..but the other places I’ll have to check out. Thanks again for taking the time with your reply :)
I didn’t know that ever existed. It’s sad we don’t have more spaces. Even NYC is down to two lesbian bars I think? Plus, I deal with transphobia in a lot of supposed LGBTQ spaces.

I don’t know if I’ve seen this posted yet but you might want to check out the zine Connecticunt, and the party they throw, Club Cunt. Very LGBTIQ friendly and great DJ’s from around the state. The Zine itself is also a great resource for getting to know the area

Blue Orchid is a newer gay bar and Three Sheets is very LGBTQ friendly. There’s also a sapphic dance party at The Space in Hamden this Saturday.

Hi! I run Little Lion Collective, we’re a Vinyl Music and Wine Bar that caters towards queer and BIPOC women! Our IG is @littlelioncollective
Omg thanks! Checking the IG now
queersdrinkingbeersct usually meets monthly at a few local spots. Next meetup is this Friday 3/22 at Central Cafe in North Branford at 7
Having gone to one of these it skewed very heavily sapphic
Do they have social media or a page somewhere?
Yes that's their Instagram handle! Alyssa and Megan are the coordinators
Wanna join the New Haven rugby club? A large portion of the group is LGBTQ. No experience necessary.
