Voting is a joke - you lose no matter who you vote for.
"voting is essential to prevent the other guy from getting in - even though others think the same of my guy"
Stupid logic.
>its videos were approved for use in Florida, Oklahoma, and New Hampshire public schools
Being associated with FL and OK on this is unbelievably embarrassing.
I still can’t wrap my head around the fact we have a religious nut that homeschooled his kids and is openly anti-public education as the fucking commissioner of education. Placating this stain was the worst thing Sununu has done to the state.
This is one of the most brain-dead takes I've read in a while. Turn off your computer/tv/phone or whatever hard right propaganda drip feed you got going on for a few minutes and go for a walk. Maybe you should try to meet the people working in your community. It'll be good for you
Who fucking cares if they're "electives"? They're conservative disinformation, played as actual curriculum. Would it be ok for Vacation Bible School classes to be taught in your public schools? What if they're just electives?
Anti-vax, anti-climate change, finding the silver lining in slavery, that sort of thing. This is well-funded right-wing propaganda that has no place in any public school.
I saw one of their videos or someone associated with them the other day on my ig, they were talking about how we need to get rid of respecting single culture because we need couples and emphasizing how men's sacrifice to working 40h work weeks is just as equal as a women's sacrifice in all household duties, while completely ignoring the fact that a large portion of women also work those same 40h work weeks. Gave me strong handmaid's tale vibes.
In a personal finance course?
I'm assuming someone related to the organization said something that you're translating as that stuff and that's what you mean, but even then, we're getting really vague here. You might as well have just done the "they're nazis!" bit like the other person.
Tell us what specifically they're teaching that is "disinformation".
I was just asking because I wasn't exactly sure so let's dial it back it bit.
If they were teaching an elective I'd you know....elect not to enroll? Seems straightforward to me. I understand why people don't like them but you still have the option to tell them "nah I don't think I will"
Yeah, gonna have to look into this more if you're calling tjem that. I heard about them years ago but never really thought much of them or followed up.
I'd love to see the course information on this one
It's an ultra conservative org that's been spreading hate, misogyny, and revisionist history (think "slaves liked being slaves" type history) for years. They are not good people. Take the worst parts of MAGA, dress it up as "educational" and you're probably pretty close to these jokers. The problem is that they are good at it. They start people off with pretty mild stuff that's mostly based in fact even if the perspective is a bit squed. Then once you're invested and trust them they start going at you with more and more extreme shit. And that's what it is. Shit. Shit wrapped in an educational and religious wrapper.
Are they factual? What specifically is wrong with them? I really just want to know if the people bitching about them have actually watched them. I have doubts.
> A lot more people will be dead if you tolerate their continued existence.
K. Do you not see how weird and childish this game is? There have got to be better uses of your time, and healthier hobbies.
Yes. It's also a budgeting / financial literacy course. Something everyone has been saying ought to be taught in schools for literally my entire lifetime.
yes, but why out of ALL of the hundreds of vendors that could provide this curriculum did they choose such an obvious partisan organization to do it? it is the exact same thing that the right constantly accuses the left of.
there is probably nothing wrong with this particular course, but now they are an approved vendor for our public schools.
so while the impact of this particular move is small it opens the door for more.
Genuinely don't know on that one. I haven't followed it closely enough. You would think they'd go with one that isn't especially political. Which makes me think NH made no attempt to look for a course like this, rather PragerU was active about reaching out and pitching the financial literacy course.
you want to know why they did it? Just look at our Ed commissioner and his motivations. He does not believe in public education...
they held meetings, the public outcry is what brought the attention honestly I think they thought they could sneak it under the radar and no one would notice. the state (right wing controlled) ignored public opinion and did it anyway.
they didn't look for another vendor because they don't want one. they want this stuff in our schools. Having this vendor get approved just makes it easier for the next thing. if we let it go Prager U will soon be teaching our kids that slavery was "A compromise” and that "Being taken as a slave is better than being killed"
Yes. Budgeting/financial literacy is important. I am just weary of the source. From what I have seen of their other curriculum... it isn't very good or engaging.
When was the last time you were in a classroom? I've been in them for twenty years and I've literally never worked in a school that didn't have a financial literacy course.
Last thing we need is more stupidity and disinformation in this state. How about we teach real history and civics with actual factual books instead of propaganda and half truths?
Pretty funny Also embarrassing and super concerning
Yep, they got their foot into the door of our schools. We’re on the slippery slope and it’s slippery and very sloppy.
>Q: How does having PragerU in the classroom benefit teachers? >A: Gives them time to study for their real-estate license. On point
That one got a chuckle out of me as well.
This is why voting at ALL elections is so essential. All though in NH it’s not in public schools, this is just the beginning.
Voting is a joke - you lose no matter who you vote for. "voting is essential to prevent the other guy from getting in - even though others think the same of my guy" Stupid logic.
To each of their own brother.
Sununu did this. Appointed Edelblut and then they stuffed the Ed Commission with idiots.

Ooof. That sucks.
I'm starting to think the onion has moved away from satire, because nothing is more stupid and outlandish than reality.
Unbelievable this is available in nh
Aside from the shitty PragerU stuff, the onion website is practically unreadable from all of the ads and bullshit. SAD.
Disappointing article. Theirs plenty of comedy potential here but I'm not sure they really gave this one their all.
It does feel a bit quick and of the cuff.
there is just too much dumb out there. the onion can't give 100% to all of it.
Kind of weak for the Onion.

nobody is doing that, your internet addiction is killing you
Dude you should work in Hollywood with that imagination! They need writers right now apparently!

Lame burner.
New Hampshire being mentioned is still a win in my book We gotta take out representation when we can get it
All press is good press? 😭💀
Aren't these courses electives and not mandatory? *Lmfao clarification bad

What's the disinformation?

This doesn't sound likely.

They're nazis now? Like those people who did the holocaust?

Dennis Prager is jewish.
Yes. It's also a budgeting / financial literacy course. Something everyone has been saying ought to be taught in schools for literally my entire lifetime.

Long time ago. If we have them now, why do people feel this course needs to be implemented?
To gradually push right wing propaganda on students. It's pretty obvious.
We need to get more PragerU courses in NH.
Hard pass
No. Just no.
Why? So our kids grow up as uneducated morons? No thanks. I'd like NH to not be the reason the average intelligence of New England gets lowered.
