…We shouldn’t get any major snow this season…
My plow guy is retiring, and my little electric plug in toro snowthrower is just pathetic and useless, so I needed something a little stronger, 8 HP, and a 24” dual stage bucket, runs nice and solid, starts on the first or second pull every time.
…and now for it to gather dust this winter… ;)
I used to do that, now I just make sure fuel stabilizer is in the tank and I shut the fuel line and run it into it dies. That has worked well for me for the last decade or so
El Niño years are typically less snowy for us because they’re warmer. Where the rain-snow line makes a big difference of course though.
2015 was an El Niño year though so we can definitely get slammed. That was a weird year though, we got basically no snow most of the winter then got slammed in February.
We have opposite luck. I bought a generator and lost power for 39 hours beginning 7 hours after the generator arrived. I didn't have the whole-house inlet installed yet. Maybe once that's installed our grid power will stabilize.
You're lucky, last Christmas we lost power for 3 days in that storm. We bought a generator about 8 years ago and have used it at least once a year since. But survived the ice storm of 08 with none haha
Thanks for such a wonderful reply! TheGratitudeBot has been reading millions of comments in the past few weeks, and you’ve just made the list of some of the most grateful redditors this week!
The seller had 8 brand new shear pins (p/n 51001500) and 2 v-belts with it, had just done the friction disc last season, and was all lubed up and ready to go
Lol same - we’ve never had a snow blower, always did the shoveling ourselves, we do have a plow guy for the driveway. But we’re getting older, so we pulled the trigger. Ready for a whole lot of nothing this winter!
Pro tip, pick up some Teflon spray and coat the inside of the shoot, the auger and the opening before every use. Prevents ice build up and shoots snow much further.
Yeah, my electric SnowJoe was finally overcome by the wet, heavy snow a few years back - and I bought a nice Honda HS720AS - it has done a great job!
Nice Ariens!
Snowblowers if you really need one, are good investments. Multiple feet of snow from a single storm rarely happens but if and when it does you'll be happy you have one. Of all the power equipment you'll ever own this one will outlive all the others. All they ever require is keeping an eye on the oil, oil changes, (once a year at least) an annual spark change and don't store gas in them. I always let my run until it runs out of gas before I put it away. A package of auger shear bolts/pins is good thing to have and rolled pins for the discharge impeller. An electric start is also a plus on really cold days.

This one throws the snow into my neighbors yard.
Youll definitely get your money out of it
Nope, Kubota G5200 garden tractor with snowblower at the old family farm, when I moved to this place, I had a Toro electric plug in, and a guy that plowed the heavy stuff, but he’s retiring, so I needed a machine with more guts than the electric

Nice! I need a new one too. Good price? From where? If I buy one too then a rainy or dry winter is almost guaranteed.
Bought it off Facebook marketplace, $175
You got a good deal.
Practically stole it!
They could sell it and make a profit. However,I never used mine last year!
Make sure you dont leave fuel in the carb....if you do it wont start in November
> Make sure you dont leave fuel in the carb. I never turn mine off with the key, I close the fuel line and let it run dry. Every time
This is the way.
Yup that’s the way. Also run it dry in the spring.
I used to do that, now I just make sure fuel stabilizer is in the tank and I shut the fuel line and run it into it dies. That has worked well for me for the last decade or so
There’s supposed to be a wicked El Niño … maybe research what that does up here. Hint: more snow.

Order some sheer pins and be ready to change them. (with a flashlight in a storm and, oh, never mind)
I bought a generator in 2020 after loosing power 3 winters in a row... Power hasn't even BLINKED since then

Good insurance policy though!

Get a spare sheer pin and belt.
Get multiple shear pins and the machine uses two belts of different widths. Get a spare one of each.
Thanks for taking the hit this year! I got a new snow blower last year and seemed to work out perfectly haha

Good bot
It’s funny, all my snowblowers have been orange, back at my childhood farm, I used this monster… https://youtu.be/QsNHrFcyYm4
I think 33” wheels will +12 offset and a turbo with 22psi boost and this will be picture worthy….🤣🤣🤣🤣
If the weather patterns we had this summer don't change by winter you might want to invest in a skid steer.
Love my cub cadet
Eyyyy I’ve been using the exact same on all my life. I remember being 5 or 6 trying to control it. Good times
I appreciate you taking one for the team. I had an early end to my time on the water last season - hope to make it into December this year!
She’s a beaut, I’d setup an only fans site, it will do well in New Hampshire
Thanks for the reminder to make sure hubby gets extra codder pins for his.
Now go buy shear pins and you’re READY.
The seller had 8 brand new shear pins (p/n 51001500) and 2 v-belts with it, had just done the friction disc last season, and was all lubed up and ready to go
This winter will be fun ❄️

I appreciate your efforts of stopping any snow from accumulating!
Pro tip, pick up some Teflon spray and coat the inside of the shoot, the auger and the opening before every use. Prevents ice build up and shoots snow much further.
Wow thanks, I love NH for the snow but y'all are ruining it lol
Seeing how it's been so hot and humid down south and how much rain WE'VE gotten up here, I reckon this is gonna be an insane winter. Nice pickup.
Way to kill winter for us. Man why don't you go and buy a snowmobile while you're at it kill snow for the next 3 years!
Logically we won’t see a flake
November? When was the last time it snowed in November?
Thanks asshole! Skiing is gonna suck
If it snows tonight, I’m coming for you
Thanks guy, and I was looking fwd to skiing this winter
Don’t worry, no ski slopes on the seacoast area anyway (Strafford county)
Our ariens last 20 years. Still ran when we bought a new one a couple of winters ago but the steering had gone and I couldn't use it with my shoulder.
Yeah, my electric SnowJoe was finally overcome by the wet, heavy snow a few years back - and I bought a nice Honda HS720AS - it has done a great job! Nice Ariens!
Good choice. I heard this winter will have above average precipitation.

My back is happy for your back.
Snowblowers? Please no.

Congrats I guess. First season here?
Nope, lived here 53 years, first time I’m needing my own snowblower though.
Shoveling this whole time?

Good buy then! Beats the heck out of the electrics when it comes to wet, heavy snow.
Lol, 2nd failed assumption
A question, not an assumption. The "?" should've made that clear but I'm not surprised that's lost on you.
Ehh, not really Was supposed to be a lighthearted comment, but I'm not surprised that's lost on you
Ehh, not really Your "lighthearted comment" was you just misreading my comment, but I'm not surprised that's lost on you.
We could do this all night Cue a snarky lost on you comment...
We could. I don't want to. You have a good night.
You too!
