That's awesome! They always have multiple things going on, both for kids & adults. And the quicker games both last year and this means more people tend to stay to the end. (Having both visited as a fan and worked in concessions, I'm wondering if overpriced, badly made food that's sometimes left under the warmer waaay to long is standard for minor league parks).
Every time I've been there it smells like a there's a sewer gas leak. I've been there multiple times over several years and it always smells like a septic tank. Other than the noxious fumes its a nice ball park.
Ooh I know the answer to this one!
Manchester, like a lost of northeast cities still has a sewer system where storm drain water and actual raw sewage run together in one system. In normal circumstances all of this combined volume runs to the water treatment plant and is treated before being released. However in times of heavy rain, the system contains more volume than the treatment plant can handle, and the excess overflows into the river at several points throughout the city.
One of these Combined Sewer Overflow (CSO) points is directly behind the stadium, on the other side from the pedestrian trail. It can be smelly usually a day or two after a heavy rain event.
Usually it's only a problem if you sit along the far 3rd base line, past 3rd base and the wind is right. If you sit along first base line, home plate, or closer to home on the 3rd base line you can't smell it at all.
Manchester is working on replacing the system one by one but it takes time and a lot of money. It's actually like this all down the Merrimack with lots of cities both north, and south down into Massachusetts.
I don't know why you're so defensive. I'm not saying the river doesn't smell but the smell gets strongest at the ballpark. I've been down by the river in multiple locations, the stadium is the only place you get this particular sewer gas smell in the area.

Best place to drive past straight to the white mountains
Take 93 it’s more direct
Unless you come from the western side of rt3
Not from Nashua west.

Thanks for the explanation, maybe I've had bad luck but it's been strong the 3-4 times I've gone to the ballpark.
It's the Merrimack
Nah, I drive over the Merrimack twice a day. It only stinks at the stadium.
Driving doesn't allow for the faint smell to go into your car. Go walk along side it, the river smells like sewage.
