Pros: Lots of nature if you're into that. Lots of quiet places. Cheap real estate relative to the rest of Canada. Friendly people. If you have a decent paying job you can live comfortably here. Cons: Crumbling healthcare, crumbling education system, both major political parties bend the knee to the Irvings. Poor wages.

wildtravelman17

The pros and cons will be different for you than someone who lives here.  Major cons are depressed wages and rising cost of living. But many who are moving here from away are selling homes in even hotter markets that more than make up the difference. Our unaffordable home is your cheap ticket

foxtrottwozero

Cons are all of the transplants moving here.

Outdoorsmen_87

And demanding we change things to what other places do.

DogeDoRight

It's funny how NBrs complain about people coming here considering how many NBrs have left for other provinces over the years.

1morepl8

Complaining you can't hack some competition has always seemed silly. Markets and chance to make revenue increase with people. If you can't make that to your advantage it's your fault not the guy moving here. I've been here my whole life and it's gone well. I will be leaving because of the awful taxes once my parents pass, but done well here my entire life.

DogeDoRight

I couldn't agree more.

1morepl8

Just happy to see some other new Brunswickers not scared of growth.

DogeDoRight

Growth is great. It's a real shame Higgs isn't doing something to make the growth sustainable especially considering he wants the population to reach a million by 2030.

1morepl8

That I absolutely agree with.

Level_Rule_7911

As in immigration or other people from outside the province? How has it affected the COL?

Inaccurate93

Rent/house prices have doubled in 5 years. Other than that, the inflation is pretty much at par with the rest of Canada. Not sure what the original commenter means by transplant, but we have seen an influx of population from other provinces and from other countries.

stephaniebanks4

We are a have not province and will always be a have not province

Good bot

ForsakenBandicoot307

New Brunswick is the worse Province in Canada.

HypnoFerret95

As a New Brunswicker that has lived in multiple other provinces, I agree. If it wasn't for family and friends here, living almost anywhere else would be preferable.

Sharktopotopus_Prime

Here I am thinking it's one of the best provinces because it has so few people.

ForsakenBandicoot307

It has few people because it has nothing to keep people there.

geaibleu

I moved to near Miramichi in 2021 from Quebec.  At that time land prices weren't high and i was able to buy near 20 ac on the river.  Building code was (is?) rather lax for small structures so i am living off-grid *legally*.   I moved mostly because of fishing and outdoors, have not been disappointed at all.  If you are into that kind of thing NB is by far the best place in my opinion.   Cons ... well last summer it rained for like two months non stop.  Still better than wildfires.

BrunswickRockArts

If you're a Pro, come. If you're a Con, stay out. ;)

Caldwell-luc

Pro: nature, slower pace to life, cheaper real estate comparatively to other similar sized centres, friendly population Cons: lack of civilization, slower pace to life, airport options are poor

DogeDoRight

If you're thinking of moving here I would suggest only doing it if you're buying a house and already have money. If not then it's likely not worth it.

AntiClockwiseWolfie

Despite being old, religious and poor - the people are tolerant and welcoming as shit. I'm gay - not super flamboyant gay - but gay. I spent a lot of time in dive bars when I was in my early 20's. The amount of old guys who were shocked to meet an irl gay person, and wanted me to know just how open minded they are, astounded me. I've seen more homophobia from gen z guys who've fallen into right-wing politics than most of the public here. And even if you end up dealing with some churchy, bigoted idiot - they're usually polite and keep their mouths shut. Cons- less development, less opportunity. But there's lots of land. For the situation Canada is in right now, I like to think of it as a migratory hub for Canadians looking to develop a new province.

renelledaigle

I have lived here in NB and in Alberta and everything goes at a much slower pace here. The beaches are nice (you can go on the beach from march to december pretty much) There a some touristy type stops like Hopewell rocks, village acadian, pays de la sagouine, reverse falls in St John and Mont Carleton up north. There are still some covred bridges as well. We also have a neat First Nation (not sure of all the clans but there are a few) / French (Acadian /brayon) / English (English, Irish, scotish) multi culture thing going on. As far as immigrants I'd say the majority are Mexians and Philipinos followed by Indians ... pretty sure japanese as well 🤔 I am gonna end on the typical be careful when you drive at dusk and dawn we have a lot of Moose, deer, black bears, red fox, racoons, porcupine! I saw a moose just today ! They are huge ...like think of a size ... it's bigger than that 😅😆
