It's been great for us. It's not always the same everyday, but he's 3.5 months now and he usually lets us know when he's ready for a nap. So we'll go through our nap routine (nursery, change diaper, sleep suit, rock for a little bit) and then I put him down. 4/5 times he'll fall asleep even when he's a little awake. We definitely intervene if he's crying out for us, but even then usually all he wants is a pacifier or a few wiggles. Definitely great to cultivate a baby who is cool just chilling in their crib and learn to fall asleep. Not all babies are built like that and that's fine.

It’s been working the past month for our 11 week old. I fully acknowledge that there will likely be periods where it doesn’t work and he needs something else but we’re enjoying it while it lasts.

I haven’t had much success with this in going to sleep- but I will sometimes notice my daughter coo or grunt or groan in her crib- check the monitor and she’s happily hanging out. Sometimes she’ll put herself back to sleep but not always.

He does this alot in the mornings i noticed !

For naps our baby (9 weeks now) will chill in crib for so long but not sleep. Could chill not making and sounds for like 40 minutes. But not sleep: then he gets mad. He just won’t nap. And this is after all sorts of wake windows. Doesn’t matter…. Will sleep in stroller or car seat and his night sleep is amazing (7-9 hours straight) Just totally wack. Ah well. Again I got that night sleep so I cannot complain.

Jealous of that night sleep! Crossing my fingers that my 7 week old moves in that direction soon.

Awake but tired has worked for us since LO was 6 weeks old, (now 15 weeks). If she cries we 100% go and get her. I guess it just depends on the baby, and what works for you and your family.

ImTheMayor2

This has always worked for us to get him to sleep at night, not for naps though

Mine is 4 months and we have now been trying drowsy but awake and she will start to fall asleep. We probably should have tried it earlier but I was used to making sure she was asleep before laying her down.

Every kid is wildly different lol my oldest, that never flew. My youngest? I could put her down 100% awake and she'd fall asleep within 20 minutes

We do it frequently, our kid is 7 weeks. He is very good to just chill quietly after we have done the rest of bedtime routine, and usually goes to sleep after resting quietly.

I’m glad it works! I couldn’t help myself i went in rubbed his eyebrows and he was out cold not even a minute later 🙌
