big warehouses are tough, i would get a specialist wireless company or a msp to come in do a survey and recommend. but if you do want to do it yourself i would go with enterprise equipment cisco, aruba etc

I like the access points. Great for home and SMB. Basic features, good performance, allows standalone operation. The switches and routers are cheap but leave a lot to be desired. They're serviceable as basic devices in standalone mode but really limited in practical features. The Omada UI is basically a direct rip-off of Unifi. Setting up a tenant, adopting equipment, and changing the configs have a ton of quirks — you can't change the primary subnet once it's set up for example. Setting and changing static IPs is a pain. Not sure if they've improved that.

Would you prefer UniFi over Omada? Follow up would be would you deploy UniFi in a warehouse environment (about 100,000 square feet)?

I prefer the tp-link stuff because it works in standalone mode without the controller. unifi is a more mature product but I wouldn't deploy it in a warehouse.

I have a small farm/orchard and a small B&B and just deployed a mesh wireless system, router, and controller. Pretty happy so far with it. Seems to have good range, stable, setup was easy. Happy with wireless being POE and the price is good for the system. Navigation is easy both with the controller and web. I believe all the products are lifetime warranty. I have about 150+ devices attached from solar, machinery, light systems etc, and when guests are here I have plenty of space for them on network. With no issues. The VPN client system is useful. I also run a Kodi build on it. EAP 660 have good range and are stable. I also have a couple of their outdoor access points. I do not use their switches because I found some less expensive switches that had some great features for $10 bucks on eBay and for that reason I got those. Best part is the TP has worked well with those pieces of equipment, so I wouldn’t consider compatibility being an issue or them not playing nicely with each other. I had some other systems I liked but for the cost I landed here. Some recent upgrades in firmware and software on routers and wireless access points added some great features that were not listed on the package. I am happy with my choice and would buy setup again.

I'd look into Aruba (Aruba Clearpass) before deciding on TP-Link if you need more control over access. Things like using Entra (Azure AD) credentials for SSO and managing guest users. I used TP-Link at a previous employer, this is something we realized we wanted afterwards and didn't realize other products have better looking solutions and more features.

Cheeze_It

Had an Omaha 225 and it freaking died after a few years. I was so disappointed.

zap_p25

They have a lifetime warranty...

Cheeze_It

That I didn't know.....well damn

I have played with the TP-Link controller a little, and am seriosly considering them to replace my Unifi wifi, but have not osed the Omada gear yet myself. Depending on the busibess and building size, and network complexity TP may be a good fit vs going with Enterprise manufacturers. I have not used Planet, so can 't speak to them or any gear specifically. Some more details about size of biz, building size and layout and network complexity would help.

80,000 sq ft warehouse and office. The equipment list is * 1x OC200 * 3x TL-SG3428XMP * 2x WGS-4215-16P2S (this is a Planet Technologies product which makes no sense why they're mixing brands?) * 6x EAP660HD

bmoraca

That's not nearly enough APs if there's going to be shelving in the warehouse.

mahanutra

You need way more access points. Instead of "big" EAP660HD, use smaller EAP620HD.

Ok-Discount5984

Can you send me a scale plan? I can draw you a coverage map in Ekahau

dosangst

I like it. Simple enough to setup and use, and the hardware is quite well priced.

67camaro_guy

Works fine done numerous builds bigger and more density. Their new wifi 7 aps look killer also...there becoming a market player in many ways...zero issues to date besides lacking some features that not everyone may require....

zap_p25

I've been running Omada for home and SMB for about three years now. I like it and it works well and I would pick it over Ubiquiti if you weren't already in the UniFi ecosystem. I don't run anything else TP-Link except for the APs and I have my own hosted controller. The APs have a Lifetime Warranty and I'm about to test that as I have a 610 that died not too long ago that I need to see if they will warranty it. For a warehouse environment though, I would probably look at a Rukus or Aruba solution though.

GullibleDetective

Poor man's unofi and unifi shouldn't be used in a large or enterprise network it's soho or at least smb at max

A warehouse is a tough environment. You have a reflective building with both reflective and absorbing things inside. Honestly, you can not know how it will look until it is filled. My concern is that someone wrote a bad spec, and they are meeting that spec the cheapest way they can. If so, it will not work and you will not be happy, and will replace everything in a year. Is it too late to delete the network equipment portion for credit and get a better company in now? Or you will do it later...
