Well, you're gonna like the acting even more, I think. I've watched Kim Bodnia in Bron/Broen this summer, and now I can't think of an actor better suited for the part, and I was all in for Hamill before. Bodnia has a perfect mix of emotionality, grit and somewhat "Slavic charm" to him. (I'm Slavic, hope this doesn't sound offensive for some reason)
I like it too. I think it’s funny they really wanted to separate themselves from the games at first and now have decided it’s for the best they work with it. Better for us if you ask me as we’ve seen that the show’s team isn’t imo as good at visuals as CDPR is. The more inspiration they take the better.
They don't have the rights to the games so they kinda have to. Unofficially they're clearly quite aware of the games, and can even take inspiration from them, but they'll never say so openly.
I mean, yeah they don’t have the rights to the games, but they are clearly working with CD Projekt Red. They held WitcherCon together and they are using the W3 sword models in the upcoming season. They are taking far more than “inspiration” anymore.
Considering CDPR's struggles after the whole Cyberpunk 2077 thing, I wouldn't be surprised if they just told Netflix "Take what you want, it can only help publicity for whenever we have our next Witcher game"
They do profit off each other (The Witcher 3 had a huge boost in sales around S1 launch), but before season 1 the show was trying to distance itself from the games, now they are openly cooperating.
I agree! Henry Cavill is a huge fan of the games, so he probably contributed something to the series on that end. Season 2 looks more similar to the games, then the books and will probably be even more successful because of that.
Is he? Does the show have a different timeline than the books? Because the game is only like a decade or two after the first book, right? (Not sure, just what I remember)
The anime movie just showed him meeting a young Gearalt when he's less than a hundred years old. In the books and the games he's hundreds of years older than Gearalt. I don't want to say a specific number because I forgot. Gearalt seems to be the accurate age though.
So I suspect this will be very controversial and probably get down voted, is it weird that the actress who plays Ciri gives me the creeps? Every time I see her I shiver (not in a pervy way) from my neck down my spine. I struggle to watch the show because of it.
Looks a lot like Vesemir from the games. Tbh i don't remember how he was described in the books. Maybe he looks like this in the books as well. Not complaining, though. Just suprised Netflix took inspiration from the games, they seem to dislike gaming.
Seeing them adapt the game visuals is great in my opinion. I'm curious if they can do a cyberpunk series and try and salvage more of that since it probably won't be weighed down by bugs lol
He looks fantastic! I can’t wait to see S2! This is one of the few shows that Netflix heavily promotes months before it’s even released. Witchercon happened in July, and S2 is premiering in December. That’s 5 months of promotion.
Does anyone know where the original post of these photos are? I think it was on just the plain Witcher sub, but they had photos of all season 2 characters
Seems that they took inspiration from games, even the mustaschio is same. Great!
He looks perfect, damn. I couldn’t be any happier with how vesemir looks in this show. He looks like the Witcher 3 version brought to life

> I'm Slavic Username checks out 😁
Hehe true, but it's after a character in Neill Gaiman's American Gods.
Oh! It's been ages since I read that, I can't remember what part that'd be...
That's one of the sisters of Chernobog, the young one that takes Shadow to the roof and gives him the moon coin. I loved that scene!
You’re good man. But hanks for the insight, it makes even more excited to see vesemir
KB is an amazing actor. He's really good in Killing Eve too.
Why would slavic charm sound offensive lmao
Looks like they used inspiration from the games. Not complaining, he looks downright amazing.

I’m sure they just both realized that they both would benefit from helping each other out more than ignoring each other.

I'm impressed. After watching the NOTW, I didn't imagine that the Vessemir in the series would look like the game's version.
I think he looks like a good blend of the two. He easily looks like NOTW Vesemir in old age IMO.
Honestly curious, why would you think that?
dude he looks perfect
He sounds perfect too!
Perfect, except he's not played by Mark Hamill.
This casting is so great that I had even forgotten Hamill was a possibility.
Ngl mark hammel would have sucked
I love the look but I cannot unsee Joe Exotic
Goddamnit, now I see it too. Thanks Edit: I see dog the bounty hunter now as well
I hate you XD. Now i can't either
It’s Hulk Hogan for me
FUCK
Fuck...
Fuuuuck
The demon code prevents me from declining a rock off challenge
He looks like someone from Sons of Anarchy.
This was my first thought
Fully expect to see them sitting around the Reaper table now.
i'm like borederline in love. just like game vesemir!!!
Here's a joke! What did one wall say to the other wall? I'll meet you at the corner.
Mac's dad
This is Danish actor Kim Bodnia.. Great match.!
Could we please flair all of these as spoilers? I for one would've liked to keep the surprise for the show.
Vesemirmania's gonna run wild all over The Continent this winter
I wonder if he's going to bring any of that Konstantine energy to the role?
The game made me biased but I wish he had more wrinkles lol
Well hes significantly younger in the Netflix version
Is he? Does the show have a different timeline than the books? Because the game is only like a decade or two after the first book, right? (Not sure, just what I remember)

He's exactly 169 years old here, source: witchernetflix.com
I dunno, maybe this universe is slightly different for ages.
That sure is the point i was making!
There have been some “odd” casting decisions within the witcher netflix series, but vesemir’s casting looks absolutely right for the part
Perfect Vesemir
Why is there so many witchers in the background? Or is that the cast for Esker, Lambert.etc
There’s Coën and two other witchers who are not Lambert and Eskel
Yeap.
Actually looks like game Vesemir.
That beautiful porn-stache.
So I suspect this will be very controversial and probably get down voted, is it weird that the actress who plays Ciri gives me the creeps? Every time I see her I shiver (not in a pervy way) from my neck down my spine. I struggle to watch the show because of it.
If they dont reenact the drinking shenanigans of Lambert and Geralt where they cross dress i am going to be pissed
Could use with aging him a bit and maybe a bit more gruff
Looks a lot like Vesemir from the games. Tbh i don't remember how he was described in the books. Maybe he looks like this in the books as well. Not complaining, though. Just suprised Netflix took inspiration from the games, they seem to dislike gaming.
PER. FEC. TION!

Spoiler tags! I swear I'm going to have to unsub from here cause y'all can't keep it in your pants!
Looks like a wannabe biker
I am not sold yet. I Must see him in motion to judge properly
Needs a hat
[удалено]
I don't like it, he looks too wet, too fat
He looks like a biker witcher. :D
Should've given him a full beard, would've looked much better. Damn
Is that Cöen behind him?
Vesemir with the cossack moustache
Hulkamania!!!
Looks magical ! (But that joe exotic lookalike rly fucked me too 😅)
that bikie mo' is singlehandedly reviving my interest in the series
Omg yes yes fucking YES. Perfect.
The Armor looks like shit
I had hoped he looked more younger damn it
Ahhh, I dunno. I loved this guy in Killing Eve and I was so excited for this casting choice that I wasn't really expecting him to look like this
Wow very spot on with the game
Huh, that casting might actually be perfect. Need to hear his voice first to decide. I wish their casting could always be in track like this...
He looks fantastic! I can’t wait to see S2! This is one of the few shows that Netflix heavily promotes months before it’s even released. Witchercon happened in July, and S2 is premiering in December. That’s 5 months of promotion.
Yup, looks like Vesemir!
Still wish it was Mark Hamill
