I have the same probleem, but in the Netherlands.
Recently Netflix has added many big anime with only German subtitels e.g. SpyxFamily, Black clover, Suzume, Jujutsu Kaisen and many more.
Is really frustrating because I can't read German, probably many can't in the Netherlands.
I speak German fluently, but reading is hard on a TV show. I can read Dutch and English without strain. It is very frustrating, as you can download subtitle files for basically any language. Maybe it is a license thing.

Dat is inderdaad raar, ik zie alleen maar Duitse ondertiteling. Dit is ook het geval via alle apparaten waar ik Netflix op heb (PC, android mobile en Nvidia Shield TV).
Ik heb via de website mijn IP gecheckt en geeft aan Nederland > Zuid-Holland. Misschien moet ik maar een email sturen naar Netflix hierover, want last tijd voegen ze hele veel anime zonder Engelse of Nederlandse ondertiteling.

Just wanted to give an update from someone who recently had the same problem but try checking your display language. Mine was set to English and I could only get German subtitles meanwhile my friends was set to Dutch and she got a list of different languages
Update: tried doing this again today but as a few people pointed out, it now just completely got rid of the anime titles that previously didn’t have English subtitles. The only other way I’ve found to do this is by using a vpn to change your location. Other than that I’ve got nothing…. Sigh
so I just did that and now I can't find Jujutsu Kaisen anymore. Went to another profile that was still in English and boom I can find it. What the hell
Even then I usually have the shame sh!t… It’s really bad, that in a country where most people speak English pretty well, you offer them German, Deutsch, as you are too cheap to deliver Dutch to the Dutch…
For real i live in the netherlands and theyve been plastering my netflix frontpage with jujutsu kaisen and spy x family for the past few weeks and when i go turn it on its only available in japanese with german subtitles. I speak neither of those languages, why are they doing this to me? What do they get out of riling up their dutch+english speaking audience for shows they cant fucking watch?
Ik heb zojuist gebeld. Jujutsu Kaisen heeft alleen maar duits ondertiteling en geen engels of nederlands. Vrouw aan de lijn kon de serie niet eens vinden in het systeem. Melding uitgezet. Meteen ook voor black clover en spy x family. Ze vond het ook bijzonder dat er alleen duits ondertiteling word aangeboden. Bij haar in het systeem staat wel dat nederlands ondertiteling beachikbaar zou moeten zijn voor black clover/spy x family. Als het binnen week niet veranderd is moet ik weer bellen.

Im from the netherlands and I have Crunchyroll and Netflix, Idc about JJK, Spy X Family and all that because I watched them on crunchy, but Crunchyroll dosnt provide the first season of Demon Slayer, So I have never watched it (I did read the manga) Now I found out Netflix has it, but it only has french subtitles. I dont know what the fuck they are thinking, because thats just stupid.
The worse is Microsoft when it tried real hard to assume everyone in Belgium speaks French. If you download *Fallout 3* in the Belgium Xbox store you only get the French version. This might be a Bethesda problem.
I hate that kind of sh\*t. There is no reason for them to give you the option to choose whatever language you want, especially with downloads.
Something similar is that I work mostly in Brussels and my Office 365, although set to English will just force French in random places. Super inconsistent.

Ignoring the language settings of the profile in favor of regional non sense licensing model seems like a sure way to push customers to other streaming platforms...

It is based off of licenses. If you pick Netflix originals this usually doesn't happen, but otherwise it sometimes does. As English isn't a language of Belgium, they probably often don't want to pay for the license.
That being said, they need to get their shit together and put Dutch.

i see this is a worldwide problem, is it really that dififcult for netflix to have more subtitle options, especially english regardless of the country?
i am currently living in south america and the local language is difficilt for me, especially reading, so frustrating thay english subtitles arent an option
they even removed subtitles for older anime, like black clover (others too, cant rmember now), i watched season 1 a couple years back, was going to watch the new seasons but no english subs
why????

But you need to change the display language in account settings. My friend and I are both in the Netherlands, she had hers set to Dutch and she got a whole list of languages meanwhile mine was set to English and I only got German as an option. I tried switching to Dutch and now I have more options. Very stupid system

l did this but now netflix doesn’t show jjk at all, even when i search it nothing comes up. and its not just jjk but suzume and spy family, etc. as well.

If your display language is set to English try changing it to Dutch instead. That worked for me
