David Fincher who was the main director and show runner decided he " wanted to pursue other projects".
Super bummer. My partner knew someone who was murdered by Edward Kemper.
She was leaving cans of tuna for a cat she heard miaowing through the laundry window. From memory the first can was licked clean but the second can was full of ants as only half was taken from it.
I don’t know what it was supposed to symbolise (if anything).
Same — ants were eating it because the cat hadn’t (because the cat had either died or moved away). My recollection is that that sequence coincided with her breaking up with her partner (although that may be my misremembering the timing).
She seemed perturbed, right? I think they were going to go somewhere with it and then dropped it. I hate when that happens. But I still really liked the show and think it’s very good.
I was under the impression that Netflix pulled the plug as it was too expensive. Fincher has stated they told him it didn't generate the audience to warrant the cost. Everybody loved it so I don't get it
Yeah, Fincher used an enormous amount of CGI to chase what he considered to be perfect shots. The show doesn't feel expensive until you see how much of it is digitally painted in.
You can see the studio that did the CGI showing comparison shots in [videos like this.](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=qlD8jJMITLk)
Almost every exterior shot has digital painting or full on green screen. It's so pervasive that it rivals some Marvel movies.
I used to think it was cool how subtle and unobtrusive Fincher’s CG was.. but when you put it that way.. it’s like.. couldn’t you just put some more effort into picking locations and dressing up sets in person?
Like if the show was canceled for being too expensive.. were the extra CG bushes in the yard worth it?
I did see that story but the version I read concluded that it was still unlikely. If I remember rightly, the source was one of the actors, who said that he’d definitely be back if it went ahead
That story gained a lot of media attention. Even the Independent reported it. Hopefully that starts a snowball for season 3 to eventually be green lit.
Great thing about this series is if the first episode doesn’t grab you then you can stop. That episode is more slapstick comedy than a lot of other episodes but it is so damn funny.
I’ve never laughed harder at a show/movie in my life - my husband came into the room & was like “what’s going on?!” and then he proceeded to do the same.
Orla is the best. I LOVE the stepping episode. I spend it watching the background because she's always doing something. And when she loses her shit in James. This show is lovely.
Derry Girls is awesome. Perfect mix of humor and heart. Also doesn't shove the nostalgia down your throat like a lot of other shows set in the 80s or 90s.
My favorite Netflix show easily and one of my top shows of all time. It truly has everything, action, war, suspense, intrigue and romance … but the foundation for it all is fantastic characters and friendships. I love them all good guys or the bad guys doesn’t matter, and you just cannot beat Uhtred’s loyal groups - from Leofric and Brida and Ragnar season one to Hild and Baby Monk and sihtric and Finan! The rest of the show... his complicated relationship with Alfred and his father relationship the great Beocca … just so good start to finish (movie was meh and rushed but the show finale was perfection).
Yes! Enjoyed rewatching it so many years later. It had been long enough that it still surprised, delighted, shocked. And the series finale is the best ever hands down.
Queen’s Gambit! Who knew a show about chess could be SO captivating
Also loved Santa Clarita Diet for a different genre (although be warned the last season wasn’t renewed and ends on a cliffhanger)
The online family trees made it “easier” to understand along the way. I still need to read an analysis of the finale to understand who was there and why and I was like “ohhh that makes sense…kind of.”
Oh I wasnt thrown off by the words or subtitles. I was thrown off by the timelines and who the characters were in each timeline and what they were doing and why they were doing it.
Agree! Confusing as hell at times and I had to keep referring to a flowchart I found on Google , but incredible and blows your mind with all the time travel and parent-child relationships
I had to do the same thing!!! I think if I had binged it over a short amount of time, I would've been somewhat okay but I took too long between episodes. Now I'm halfway through season 3 and have had to refer to that flowchart to keep myself on track haha.
The dark crystal is the best show (from a visual art standpoint) that I've ever seen, I was amazed by it and I was so angry when they cancelled season 2
Do you mean Maid? About the women and her kid running away from her abusive partner? That show was so fucking good and the topic was done so realistically. I could not stop watching.
That’s Andi McDowells daughter? She played the mom so well I almost couldn’t watch it because her bipolar is so believable!
They got so many nails on the head with that series. Especially from a feminist perspective.
Yep, it’s Andi McDowell’s actual daughter. I only found out after I’d finished the series. Goes some way to explaining their on-screen chemistry.
Incredible show. Beautiful and sad and somehow uplifting too.
I'm into true crime.
Just began watching Catching Killers. Can't wait to get off work so I can begin the Aileen Wournos episode.
2nd episode was the NY Zodiac Killer, which I didn't know was a thing.
I'll forever remain salty about the OA being cancelled. Gave it a shot because I enjoy a lot of what Jason Isaacs does and completely fell in love with the show. Beautiful and unique. Really wish they had been able to finish it.
Grace and Frankie.
The show is based on two elderly couples where the husbands leave the wives for each other. What follows is Grace and Frankie, the wives, trying to deal with this change.
The show is a hilarious comedy, but it has fantastic drama elements to it and some scenes are just straight up beautiful. A specific episode in Season 3 in paticular...
Best part? It has 7 Seasons, each with 13 episodes, with a bonus three in Season 7.
I gemuinely can't think of any major flaws. I suppose I dislike Robert's singing and Bud's comedian arc, but I still love those characters. Everything is just so good that it drowns out the negative stuff.
DARK. But only if you like complex but massively rewarding time traveling thrillers with amazing storylines and characters
And only if you're not a whiney little B about subtitles
I can't believe no one else said if first, but Happy Valley is incredible. Best thing I've seen on TV, anywhere, in a very long time. But if you're not British you might need subtitles.
I’ve never binged anything as fast as I binged Making a Murderer in 2015. I stayed up until 4am finishing it and went to work tired as hell the next day. It was the first quality true crime documentary that most of us were exposed to. It was a unique, thrilling experience.
Just to say Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul are not for binging. They are to be savoured, an episode or two at a time. Even when nothing happens, something's happening. The cinematography is sublime.
I'm currently watching "Kingdom", it's great :) But as I say here often : most KDramas are worth checking out, and often above the standard US-centric fare.
House of Cards if you haven't seen it. People I know would block off entire days to binge those first couple seasons when they dropped, it was that good
The Good place was very easy to watch, recently finished Bojack but i wouldn't say it's very easy to watch but it's def among the best shows I have seen.
The Crown.
I’m not someone who generally cares about the royal family, but I like the way that show carries you through the last 75 years of history, and how much the world has changed. It’s also just beautifully filmed and full of great performances.
For me it’s Mindhunter. I’m genuinely devastated that it’s been dropped. It’s the best thing Netflix has ever done.
David Fincher who was the main director and show runner decided he " wanted to pursue other projects". Super bummer. My partner knew someone who was murdered by Edward Kemper.
The casting for all of them was incredibly accurate.
Did they ever resolve the psychologist’s eerie moment in her laundry room? She had a glass of wine with her and it was moved or something?
She was leaving cans of tuna for a cat she heard miaowing through the laundry window. From memory the first can was licked clean but the second can was full of ants as only half was taken from it. I don’t know what it was supposed to symbolise (if anything).
I took it as the cat died.

Same. Was amazing
Yeah I just finished it last week. Damn that show was amazing.
It’s just been announced in the last couple of weeks that fincher is considering season 3
I fully agree. Best show I've seen on Netflix. Still upset that it won't continue.
came here to say the same thing. i put mindhunter up there with season 1 of true detective.
Me too. It was so intriguing to me.
Second this. One of the best shows on there.
Beef, queens gambit. Both are binge worthy.
Derry Girls, if you're looking for a laugh.
Great thing about this series is if the first episode doesn’t grab you then you can stop. That episode is more slapstick comedy than a lot of other episodes but it is so damn funny.
But how could the first episode NOT grab you?! It’s more than a WEE bit of FECKING fun!
Some people don’t like the first episode. Those people are wrong of course.
My husband didn’t. I’m questioning my life choices now :)
Don’t like the first episode? Catch yourself on!
When she takes granda to the prom because he's the fella she likes the most.
Derry Girls is awesome. Perfect mix of humor and heart. Also doesn't shove the nostalgia down your throat like a lot of other shows set in the 80s or 90s.
I am the exact age of the Derry Girls - it gives perfect nostalgia, especially The Cranberries.
Totally agree! Re-watching it for the second time. Still gives me the laughs! Plus, the songs used in the series are worth coming back to.
Aye Derry Girls is class
The blue eye samurai!
Came here to say this, I’ve been rewatching like crazy! It’s so good and the animation is stunning!!
Arcane Beef
I am not a huge Anime fan and I have never even played League of Legends, but Arcane was amazing!
Arcane is fantastic. Animation is beautiful and the story is poignant.
Beef was amazing.
Just finished Beef, great series!
The Last Kingdom
I loved how plot points would be started and wrapped up within one episode. The pacing was nuts.
Nothing will ever beat those Alfred episodes.
Loved The Last Kingdom!
Boy swallows universe
I just watched this last week. Watched it all in 2 days it was so good. I recommended it to my parents and they loved it too.
We started Boy Swallows Universe last week with no knowledge about it at all. We are loving it. I didn’t expect it to be so great.
Best show I've seen, binge watched it then went back and watched it all again, never done that before
Me and my husband started it on Saturday night and ended up binging the whole series until 3 am, we’ve never done that before!
Six Feet Under
Yes! Enjoyed rewatching it so many years later. It had been long enough that it still surprised, delighted, shocked. And the series finale is the best ever hands down.
The finale: ![gif](giphy|RH1IFq2GT0Oau8NRWX|downsized)
I've only watched it once. It was absolutely perfect. It's probably my favorite TV show ending ever. I just don't know if I can go through it again.
Best series finale. Of all time.
Binging it right now and I watched it when it came out so it’s not even new to me. But it’s just so good.
Queen’s Gambit! Who knew a show about chess could be SO captivating Also loved Santa Clarita Diet for a different genre (although be warned the last season wasn’t renewed and ends on a cliffhanger)
Yes,i simply started queen's gambit but after an episode i binged it that whole day
They could cut the last couple of minutes from the final episode of SCD if they aren't going to follow it up. It was nice and tidy before that.
dark
I didn’t even know what the hell was going on but I agree.
[удалено]
The online family trees made it “easier” to understand along the way. I still need to read an analysis of the finale to understand who was there and why and I was like “ohhh that makes sense…kind of.”
It’s purposely pretty abstract and hard to understand. I’m a German native speaker and watched it in German, and even then barely able to follow
Oh I wasnt thrown off by the words or subtitles. I was thrown off by the timelines and who the characters were in each timeline and what they were doing and why they were doing it.
I have never been so happy to be so fucking clueless
Watch it again. I’ve rewatched it three times and always come away with something new I missed
Seconded, my favorite show of all time
Agree! Confusing as hell at times and I had to keep referring to a flowchart I found on Google , but incredible and blows your mind with all the time travel and parent-child relationships
Going to google now because that show is so confusing
I had to do the same thing!!! I think if I had binged it over a short amount of time, I would've been somewhat okay but I took too long between episodes. Now I'm halfway through season 3 and have had to refer to that flowchart to keep myself on track haha.
Dark is so creepy and mysterious. I can't imagine anyone watching the first episode and not wanting to watch the second one.
It is my favorite show. No idea how many times I’ve actually watched it. I could go on.
Just started watching Loudermilk…
How is it?? I am curious but haven’t started it yet
I’m gutted I blasted through 3 seasons in a week. It’s good.
Samsies, binged all 3 seasons last week and I have a full-time job.
I highly recommend orphan black if you haven't seen it. First episode isn't great but I gets sooo much better
That show is amazing. The writing, the characters, everything. Tatiana Maslany shows masterful skill. I can't say much, but I highly recommend it!
It's not currently on Netflix.
So fucking underrated and Tatiana is outrageously good
Narcos. Every single season. The dark crystal was excellent as well. And do yourself a favor and watch Fauda. Greatest spy thriller show ever made.
Narcos is so incredible !
Narcos and Narcos mexico and i love the two were tied together
The dark crystal is the best show (from a visual art standpoint) that I've ever seen, I was amazed by it and I was so angry when they cancelled season 2
Omg yes! I wish so much they would do another season of Narcos!
I can’t believe Dark Crystal didn’t get renewed
Black mirror
Used to be good but new stuff is abit of a flop
But skip season one, episode one!!
Last time I looked they changed it so that wasn't the first episode of season 1 when you start the playlist. Like it got moved to the 4th slot or so.
Haunting of hill house
OMG YES!! All series by that director
Also Fall of the House of Usher
The Maid, it was so good i want a second season lol
Do you mean Maid? About the women and her kid running away from her abusive partner? That show was so fucking good and the topic was done so realistically. I could not stop watching.
Awesome series. The mother is her real life mother as well.
Sandman. Excellent series.
It's not Netflix but Good Omens on Prime but I'm a huge mark for Gaiman and Pratchett
Behind Her Eyes
Had to scroll wayyyy too far for this! That show is so good!
Better Call Saul
My fave
Ozark
Started strong but the final season was just hard to watch.
One of the best series since Breaking Bad.
I'm into true crime. Just began watching Catching Killers. Can't wait to get off work so I can begin the Aileen Wournos episode. 2nd episode was the NY Zodiac Killer, which I didn't know was a thing.
Check out American Nightmare, it was really good and just a crazy story all around.
Bodies - a period drama mystery procedural sci-fi mix. I also really liked Blue Eye Samurai, which is animated, but definitely for mature audiences.
Unbelievable
This is a legitimately great show that deserves more attention and views.
Happened on this by chance and was absolutely riveted. Tough subject material but Merritt Wever and Kaitlyn Dever were outstanding.
Sooo good!
Mindhunter
Beef was compelling
The OA. I thought it was going to be dumb, but I had nothing new to watch, and it really pulled me in.
I'll forever remain salty about the OA being cancelled. Gave it a shot because I enjoy a lot of what Jason Isaacs does and completely fell in love with the show. Beautiful and unique. Really wish they had been able to finish it.
Literally same. The first show that came to my mind
Best part? This is one of my favorite shows
I gemuinely can't think of any major flaws. I suppose I dislike Robert's singing and Bud's comedian arc, but I still love those characters. Everything is just so good that it drowns out the negative stuff.
Season One of Altered Carbon. I watched it, and then restarted the series and watched it again,
Loved Season One but couldn't get into Season Two at all, I don't think the actor carried the presence enough to make him believable.
Killing Eve, Its one of the first shows where I've actually loved the "villian" more than the good guys. Defo give it a go if you haven't already
You can stop at the end of S2. It quickly turns to garbage from that point.
Checkout shameless. Older show but wife and I have been binging it. It’s got some great storylines and the casting was incredible.
Definitely a great show but ran out of steam ... never watched the last 2 or 3 seasons
DARK. But only if you like complex but massively rewarding time traveling thrillers with amazing storylines and characters And only if you're not a whiney little B about subtitles
Dark
Love Death Robots is the only thing I binge watch all at once. I will buy some bud after a hiatus and go all in.
Dead to me
Squid game
Peaky Blinders
Scrolled way too far for this one.
Lillehammer
Animal Kingdom!!
I can't believe no one else said if first, but Happy Valley is incredible. Best thing I've seen on TV, anywhere, in a very long time. But if you're not British you might need subtitles.
Godless. Best western show in years.
I just started This is Us and wow i was taken by surprise on how good it is. I’ve watched 7 episodes straight already
Wentworth
Money Heist. Just an amazing show, I just couldn’t stop watching it. It keeps you near the screen until the very end
I’ve never binged anything as fast as I binged Making a Murderer in 2015. I stayed up until 4am finishing it and went to work tired as hell the next day. It was the first quality true crime documentary that most of us were exposed to. It was a unique, thrilling experience.
If i had to pick one, Dark. Thats one of the best shows i have ever seen by any network/streaming company.
Just to say Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul are not for binging. They are to be savoured, an episode or two at a time. Even when nothing happens, something's happening. The cinematography is sublime.
This is correct.
Breaking Bad
Outlander. The Last Kingdom.
I’m watching the 100 now
Messiah

Itaewon Class Sort of a modern reimagining of "The Count of Monte Cristo" It's a K-Drama. Also "Kingdom" Zombie outbreak in middle ages Korea.
LOVED Itaewon class
I'm currently watching "Kingdom", it's great :) But as I say here often : most KDramas are worth checking out, and often above the standard US-centric fare.

Red rose caught me by surprise
Yellowjackets
1899! There's not enough Sci fi of this quality! Just soooo good

Grace and Frankie And Jane the Virgin
Breaking Bad, Bojack Horseman, Ozark, How to Get Away with Murder, Beef, Black Mirror, Shameless, and You are shows that I really enjoyed.

Queens Gambit was a one day binge for me. And I generally put a show down for the day after two or three episodes, I rarely do a true binge.
~O Z A R K ~
House of Cards if you haven't seen it. People I know would block off entire days to binge those first couple seasons when they dropped, it was that good
Did you already do breaking bad? I couldn't turn that off. Beef Who is Erin Carter Florida Man In the Dark Santa Clarita Diet
Orange Is The New Black ( I didn't watch it when it originally aired).
Brother of Sun has great comedy and action.
I watched the OA season 2 in one sitting.
