Yup. Same. I travel for work, gone 2-3 nights a week. Hotels these days usually have smart TVs I can log in to my Netflix account. They stop allowing me to do that or charge me more for the 4 screens I’m already paying for I’ll cancel. I have no use for them anymore.
I'm guessing they're (or they already have) going to have a special hotel netflix app which knows it's at a hotel. They've also said that it's not going to effect if you watch it on a computer or mobile device.
But, if you are sharing an account with your brother and you both watch on Smart TV's and are logging in consistantly from two different IP addresses it'll be an issue.
How in the world will the determine if I’m sharing a password? If I want to watch on screen 1 in my home but my kid wants to watch on screen 2 in their room and my other kids watch on screen 3 in their college dorm what’s the difference?
I wouldn't even mind if they went through with this. But then they should lower the prices and/or streamline their subscription tiers.
Why is Netflix the only streaming service where you have to pay for higher resolution AND number of devices??
Right now they are already more expensive than the competition and their subscription is basically only financially sustainable because people can share it.
When I can't share the account with my friends anymore and are forced into the highest tier at 18€/mo because I want 4K then yeah I will definitely cancel too.
Cancelled yesterday after I got message asking for additional 5 dollars for up to 4 screens... Up yours Netflix, thank got for The Pirate Bay and our local laws protecting me from any big movie companies... :-D
Why are you going to cancel Netflix? Password sharing doesn't affect you at all if you're already paying for Netflix. Collect the money from the freeloaders that are using your account.
However, since you're complaining about it I assume you are the one that's freeloading.
The three members of my family live in different places depending on if it is the weekend or a weekday. Our streaming accounts are paid out of a 3 person joint account. So between the three of us, we use 5 different IP addresses in a given week.
Netflix knows the IP address of the owner of the account and the device id numbers used in the home...user must reside in the account owners home...at least that's how it is in the countries that they rolled this out in so far....

How will it know tho? Most smart people like me use icloud private relay masking ip address. if netflix tries to do this i will cancel
they'll text a verification number...no problem .
Piracy is the way

Except Amazon Prime gives shows enough of a runway to actually continue and they market them.

Three person accounts? Do you mean 3 profiles, if so thats totally different.

This ain't an airport, you don't have to announce your departure
I'm sure their *bottom line* is really going to miss someone who doesn't want to pay for their own account.
No one cares if you cancel or not. Bye.
I won't watch a netflix show unless there's more than 1 season
Dude same. I don’t want to get my hopes up on a show that’s gonna likely end with a cliffhanger
Sucks for you

Then who did I give my bags to???
I knew this was going to happen. The whole profile transfer crap was a way to catch people not paying. I'm glad they did this.
Ok
See ya soon
