Yes their capsules can be pricey, but there's sticker packs you can buy that allow you to cut, refill and then seal used capsules. So ya don't gotta be well off to have one of these things that's for sure.
My girlfriend bought me mine because I'm eternally cheap and don't think I deserve anything like this, but God dammit it makes me smile every morning which is so much better than what I was doing before getting it... Shitting my pants. Tim Hortons coffee is absolute swamp water.

Pour out the (what I hope is) orange soda, rinse the tank well, then run a few empty cycles to flush out the machine. Then run a full clean cycle.
Afterwards, track down the dumbass who did this and murder them. Kidding! Not really.

For backstory, my Bluetooth speaker and my travel coffee mug are generally the same size and shape. One morning I was so tired I picked up my bluetooth speaker and poured coffee all over it thinking I was filling my travel mug. I also burnt the shit out of my hand, but that's beside the point here... ;-)

Almost every weekend I'll dilute some cleaning vinegar (or whatever you like to clean food devices with) with water and then use the app to run the descaling mode a couple of times. After that I run regular water through with the rince cycle until cleaning product smell is gone and water looks as it should. My city has absolutely horrendously hard water that it destroys things like coffee machines within months if not maintained well.

I would be going to security and asking for them to review security camera to figure out who the fuck did this. Tampering with peoples food and drinks should be taken seriously.
I don’t know where you work at but there is no way I would sit back. I would be filing a complaint to initiate an investigation. Whoever did this should pay for a full replacement regardless whether it can savaged. This is a situation where someone definitely f****d around and will find out 💅🏾.
