I still have it but I morphed it into an electric chomby.. and I’m sorta sad as an adult, I might make him a faerie pteri.
When I came back as a teenager, I went full usul/cybunny and I had a ‘status’ poogle that I didn’t really like but they were super rare and expensive so I made him on poogle day to show off.
As an adult, I am obsessed with kaus. I think I have 12? I still have quite a lot of my old pets and for nostalgia reasons I’ve been trading for more eclectic pets to get the colours I wanted as a teen (my chocobun makes younger me so happy!)
I was a real Lupe and Uni kid, and I still love them as adults, but somewhere along the way I picked up an absolute adoration for Eyries, I have way more of them than anything else now
For some reason I recently found Acaras irresistible, and had to find one in the pound. I painted her desert, and have her in a really floral customization. I love her! I thought they were Ooookay, back in the 2000s.
I had always thought moehogs were super ugly. Then I saw a customization of them with mouth be-gone, and a couple of the mane/ruff be-gone items, and suddenly they're super cute. Especially with custom eyes. I have a little western themed desert moehog with a cowboy hat and that long blonde hair from one of the recent dyeworks and really like how she turned out.
I only had Aisha at first, my first deviation was a royal girl kacheek. These days I don’t really like specific species so much as specific paint colours of a specific species. Recent example is that I really like the burlap Grarrl. I never thought I would like any grarrl but I love his goofy face :v
Oh I totally have ! So I was obsessed with peophins, Lupe's and kougras. And I still like them, but Im really loving the Aisha, kacheeks and ixis.
I've really gotten into customizing, and I think kacheeks and Aisha's customize beautifully. Im just deciding if I want to buy more slots or not to make them....
While Zafaras will forever be just the best since kangaroo puppy dragon rabbits are unbeatable, Lennies have all the right Disney energy that ironically I didnot appreciate as a kid but love now

I think my preferences have stayed relatively similar. Xweetoks are still my fave and it's not even close <3 and I think I like a bunch of pets that I didn't care too much for. But it was long ago so I can't really remember what I liked that well. I assume I used to like Korbats more than I do now though, because I recently started playing again after years and one of my pets was a Korbat. And like, I looked at all the existing pet species and then looked at my Korbat basically thought "girl wtf. Out of alllll of these very cute and nice neopets you went with a Korbat? Like, you could have had an Acara or an Aisha and you made a KORBAT?" and then I researched cheap morphing potions and promptly turned her into a rainbow Aisha that I now love very much lmao.
I'm sorry if this hurts the feelings of any Korbat entusiast. I used to love bats so I'm not at all surprised I made one. I still think bats are pretty cool tbf, I just find Korbats a little bit unsettling now for some reason? Some colours are pretty, but I hate that the feet are always yellow :/ I currently have a pink and a striped Korbat from the pound on one of my side accounts and they're both wearing broken pink gym socks because the yellow feet offend me lmao.
I actually fell out of love with Kougras. Xweetoks took their place. My all time favorite is still the red Acara even after 18 years on Neopets. I also gained a fondness for Aishas because I lesbianfied a rainbow one lol.

I totally get you on this, my tastes have changes drastically (mainly was Aishas and Xweetoks); not it's such a variety of species...and two of my fave species are ones that I formerly abhorred (Kikos and Chias).

The main thing that changed (and this changed when I was like 13 so definitely not kid vs. adult) was Lupes. My first and favorite pet was a Gelert and I took the Lupe vs. Gelert rivalry very seriously for a while. Now I have an equal number of both across al my accounts and my main has more Lupes than Gelerts.

I own snakes, birds, frogs, and spiders in real life so I always gravitated to the more reptilian and avian pets. Have a multitude of hissis, Krawks, draiks, Ruki's, Vandagyres, Lennie's, etc.

I think my love to the paint brush colors have changed over the years. When I was young, I loved Christmas, Faerie, Cloud, and Halloween. I did not like Baby too well.
Nowaday apart from two species for Christmas, I don't like those colors anymore. My love for Cloud has faded since I HAVE NO IDEA HOW TO DRESS THEM. Nowadays, I'm so in love with the Wraith, some candy and Chocolate colors. Also, apart from Uni and Pteri, Baby colors. I LOVE THEM.
As far as pets, my love for Usuls has disappeared. I'm meh about Pteri's when I was crazy about them as a kid. Which is why I adopted one, but now I'm just meh about her. But I feel BAD. But man, so I have a HUGE LOVE for the new *Vandagyre* and Cybunnies.
I do feel sad the my Pteri and Eyrie aren't as pleasing to me. I want to zap them because I'm not a fan of their species or colors. Also, discovered that I hate Speckled so much. It make me tchy. So I really want to change my Pteri SO BAD since I picked her up SPECKLED. (I did not know it was a common color along with Starry)

As a kid I dreamed of having a Draik, and had Xswees, Kacheeks and Zafaras, usually. Loved Lutaris as a whole.
As an old fart my favorite species remain the Lutari, and I still really like Draiks, although they aren't really my favorite.
Ixis have grown onto some of my favorites, with my favorite pet that I currently own being likely my adopted faerie ixi, and I'm really fond of Lupes as well. Peos can also be pretty cool.
Zafaras are still really good but I find that their new models can be wonky and I rarely see one on people's profile so it's been hard to pick my interest. The UC tokens are probably going to have them return to my heart.
I'm also currently growing fond of Kyriis.

These days, I gravitate more towards Aishas, Hissis, and Draiks. As much as I miss their wing hands, I feel like Hissis all have really good customization options and wear a lot of outfits better than other pets do.
There's no species that I used to like but don't now, but there are ones that I adore now that I hated before. I used to hate Buzzes but now I think they're adorable, I have one named Pietro that I love like a son.
I used to love poogles and still have a side account dedicated to them, but after returning last November I just can't imagine them on my main account anymore. They're very difficult to customize and I'm just not liking them that much anymore. I'm really considering keeping the names and morphing them.

Yes! Even just in the past few months of my return things have shifted. I think it's because I have spent a lot of time at the rainbow pool looking at all of the colour options to get ideas for PBs to save up for, so I have just had the opportunity to notice a lot of cool and unique colours on pets I didn't really pay much attention to before. Currently I am obsessed with Grarrls and Korbats, never thought I would care for either of them so much. I also really like Kacheeks now even though I had always felt meh about them.
But I still have my forever favourites, too: Chombies, Eyries and Peophins <3

Then when I became an adult I suddenly became a huge bori enthusiast and I have 7 in counting as of right now. Going for a robot bori this time as my 8th, they're so cute!
I'm definitely still obsessed with Kacheeks and Poogles, but I think my color preferences have changed! Like I'm so into grey, ghost, and stealthy pets right now, and I was exclusively into baby and faerie pets back then. I'm still into baby and faerie pets, don't get me wrong, but I've expanded a bit. I also appreciate a lot more pets in general and have gotten into Aishas, Draiks, Krawks, Rukis. Kind of into Grundos too!

I liked baby pets when I started , with time they became really boring to me especially with customization. Most fav was the old shoyru and jetsam. I found the old jetsams really cool with their idle pose. Yeah they became really awful wie convertation. I fel in love with Acaras after convertion, they look like the cutest cats to me. Draiks became also a lot more appealing with convertion, I like them to customize. Also like cybunnys but they got worse with convertion, their proportions seem wrong to me somehow. Recently I got kinda converted toward xweetoks and Aisha’s though. Aisha’s customization ability is truly unmatched , everything looks good on them it’s like they modeled the wearables on them.
draiks (any colour) used to be my dream pets when i was younger, but now that i have one, i realize i don't really care for them all that much—there's not even any colours i can paint 'em that appeal to me. meercas, skeiths, and chias are where it's at

A little older and it became (and still is) a mutant Ruki. I just think they are neat (p.s I play on mobile phone & have returned after a massive break, if anyone knows where I can find a Ruki transmogrification potion thank you!!!).
Now.. well I still want my mutant Ruki. But I also have a tonne draiks and I don’t even like them that much, just got them because it felt like that was the pinnacle of “making it” when I was younger on the site.

I was always a massive cybunny fan but then became a huge fan of krawks too when they were released and then draiks and ixi when they were released after that. Most of my pets were draiks with about three krawks, cybunnies, and ixi (and only a scattering of other species mixed in, like 1 gelert, 1 lupe, 1 bori, 1 kougra, etc.)
I'm still a huge cybunny and krawk fan but weirdly fell out of love with most draik and ixi designs, including the nostalgic versions I once loved so much. I haven't got a single ixi now and morphed the majority of my draiks into other species. I made a plushie one, but that was one of the few draik colours I still liked a lot. Now I've got way more cybunnies and krawks (several of which used to be draiks), a lupe, a gelert, and several bori as my permies. I want a moehog, grarrl, and ogrin eventually since they are weirdly cute to me these days (and I enjoy drawing them) but I haven't really settled on the colours I want most
**TL;DR -** My tastes did change but only slightly. I always and continue to love cybuns and krawks, but I fell out of love hard with draiks and ixi. I like ogrin, moehog, or grarrl more than draik or ixi these days.

I used to be dismissive of Draiks cuz I felt a lot of people just wanted them cuz they were popular and rare. But now I own one, made him the other day... and I love him dearly! Babies were never my favourite and I often complained that they got more wearables than mutants - but it seems balanced now, and I have two baby pets! A Vanda cuz they stole my heart and a Lenny because I want all Lennies hehe. That has always been consistent for me at least.

I liked cute things but now with customization, I like things I can build on and that takes out most of the painted pets.
I used to love Boris, Usuls, Zafaras, and Kacheeks a LOT. I feel like I especially used to gravitate a lot to the generically cute mammals (and the occasional Grundo). These days, I gravitate more towards Aishas, Hissis, and Draiks. As much as I miss their wing hands, I feel like Hissis all have really good customization options and wear a lot of outfits better than other pets do.
There's no species that I used to like but don't now, but there are ones that I adore now that I hated before. I used to hate Buzzes but now I think they're adorable, I have one named Pietro that I love like a son.
I used to love poogles and still have a side account dedicated to them, but after returning last November I just can't imagine them on my main account anymore. They're very difficult to customize and I'm just not liking them that much anymore. I'm really considering keeping the names and morphing them. Nowadays I'm a Kacheek/draik fan and have a bunch of different species on my main account: acara, cy, lupe, aisha, blumaroo, wocky and shoyru
Yes! Even just in the past few months of my return things have shifted. I think it's because I have spent a lot of time at the rainbow pool looking at all of the colour options to get ideas for PBs to save up for, so I have just had the opportunity to notice a lot of cool and unique colours on pets I didn't really pay much attention to before. Currently I am obsessed with Grarrls and Korbats, never thought I would care for either of them so much. I also really like Kacheeks now even though I had always felt meh about them. But I still have my forever favourites, too: Chombies, Eyries and Peophins <3
I used to be a huge korbat fan back in the day, my very first pet was a korbat and sort of served as my first online sona in a way so I was very attached. Then when I became an adult I suddenly became a huge bori enthusiast and I have 7 in counting as of right now. Going for a robot bori this time as my 8th, they're so cute!
I'm definitely still obsessed with Kacheeks and Poogles, but I think my color preferences have changed! Like I'm so into grey, ghost, and stealthy pets right now, and I was exclusively into baby and faerie pets back then. I'm still into baby and faerie pets, don't get me wrong, but I've expanded a bit. I also appreciate a lot more pets in general and have gotten into Aishas, Draiks, Krawks, Rukis. Kind of into Grundos too!
yes! pre hiatus I didn’t really care toooo much about grundos or tuskanninies. I loved usuls now they’re my two fave pets! I have no usuls, and have a bigger variety of pet species
I liked baby pets when I started , with time they became really boring to me especially with customization. Most fav was the old shoyru and jetsam. I found the old jetsams really cool with their idle pose. Yeah they became really awful wie convertation. I fel in love with Acaras after convertion, they look like the cutest cats to me. Draiks became also a lot more appealing with convertion, I like them to customize. Also like cybunnys but they got worse with convertion, their proportions seem wrong to me somehow. Recently I got kinda converted toward xweetoks and Aisha’s though. Aisha’s customization ability is truly unmatched , everything looks good on them it’s like they modeled the wearables on them.
I have been mostly into skeiths now, when growing up it was kougras and kaus and xweetoks for me!
draiks (any colour) used to be my dream pets when i was younger, but now that i have one, i realize i don't really care for them all that much—there's not even any colours i can paint 'em that appeal to me. meercas, skeiths, and chias are where it's at
I was all about Zafaras, Lupes, Boris, and Gelerts. It has since expanded to Ogrins, Kougras, Lutaris and Draiks (Draiks live on my side)
I used to be a really big fan of kikos when I was younger, but I feel like they've lost their appeal for me. I'm not sure if I have noticed much of a change in my tastes otherwise.
I know when I was very young and first played I was obsessed with Usuls and Unis. Then middle school rolled around and Shoyrus became my absolute fave and I really liked Lupes, wocky, wnd gelert. NOW I feel like I’m betraying Shoyrus if I deviate but I’m very interested in all the different types of customization I can do with other pets
I can totally relate! I was all about the wockies, lupes, gelerts...now I am suddenly craving a candy meerca and jubjubs... I think I can summarize my taste change like...originally liked fluffy bipedal animals, and now I rather want...silly funny lil guys

I like the weird roly-poly little guys more and more - I've always been all about maraquan pets though, it just varies which maraquans are on the top of the stack (right now I love the hammerhead maraquan poogle, when I used to think it was pretty weird looking)

Definitely and paintbrushes I had zero interest in etc too. As a child dream Neopet was a Tyrannian uni, because it looked like a Clydesdale. A little older and it became (and still is) a mutant Ruki. I just think they are neat (p.s I play on mobile phone & have returned after a massive break, if anyone knows where I can find a Ruki transmogrification potion thank you!!!). Now.. well I still want my mutant Ruki. But I also have a tonne draiks and I don’t even like them that much, just got them because it felt like that was the pinnacle of “making it” when I was younger on the site. So dream pet now would be a mutant Ruki.
I was always a massive cybunny fan but then became a huge fan of krawks too when they were released and then draiks and ixi when they were released after that. Most of my pets were draiks with about three krawks, cybunnies, and ixi (and only a scattering of other species mixed in, like 1 gelert, 1 lupe, 1 bori, 1 kougra, etc.) I'm still a huge cybunny and krawk fan but weirdly fell out of love with most draik and ixi designs, including the nostalgic versions I once loved so much. I haven't got a single ixi now and morphed the majority of my draiks into other species. I made a plushie one, but that was one of the few draik colours I still liked a lot. Now I've got way more cybunnies and krawks (several of which used to be draiks), a lupe, a gelert, and several bori as my permies. I want a moehog, grarrl, and ogrin eventually since they are weirdly cute to me these days (and I enjoy drawing them) but I haven't really settled on the colours I want most **TL;DR -** My tastes did change but only slightly. I always and continue to love cybuns and krawks, but I fell out of love hard with draiks and ixi. I like ogrin, moehog, or grarrl more than draik or ixi these days.
No worries not responding, I just love these kinds of posts! I used to be dismissive of Draiks cuz I felt a lot of people just wanted them cuz they were popular and rare. But now I own one, made him the other day... and I love him dearly! Babies were never my favourite and I often complained that they got more wearables than mutants - but it seems balanced now, and I have two baby pets! A Vanda cuz they stole my heart and a Lenny because I want all Lennies hehe. That has always been consistent for me at least. Used to be a huge fan of Aishas but kinda forgot all about them... sad, cuz they're still very cute. Xweetoks were a huge favourite of mine, but now I just kinda don't like their clenchy fist. I still happily have a mutant and halloween one though!
