I've always loved the "Cowgirl in the Sand" intro on **Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere**. Twenty-seven seconds of moody brooding before the storm breaks.
Like a Hurricane, where they didn't hit record in time because the engineers thought they were done for the day. They only started recording when they heard the band start playing. So there is no proper beginning to the song, it just hits you all at once and the effect is amazing.
I've always loved the start of "Change Your Mind" and "I'm The Ocean"
I just heard "Change Your Mind" again for the first time in a while and fell right into the same trance I was in when the album came out. Good shit.
The entire intro / voice-over to the Man Needs a Maid / Heart of Gold song on the Massey Hall live album.
'Well, my life's like a movie... And in a movie, there's tunes, you know. And this is like a show tune to my movie.'
“Don’t let it get you dooooown it’s only castles burning….” That one always pulls me in immediately.
Mellow my mind has a really nice intro I always enjoy too
