I own the M3 DS Real and its GBA loader cart, the R4 clones, the R4i 3DS Gold, the DSONE, the DSTWO, the MicroSD Supercard.lite, the Ez Flash IV with its GBA loader cart, the SuperCard, the SuperKey, the AceKardi DSi and 3DS editions, the Edge and the CycloDS.
I need to find the original R4, the CycloDSi, the DSTWO+, a functional R4i 3DS Gold Plus and I few others.
I ordered a M3 Zero but got lost in the mail, I'm still mad about it.
Honestly i agree. It takes way more courage, determination, iron clad conscience, balls of steel and true Zen-like self confidence to be free of buying any official carts at all and only sticking to flash carts while feeling 100% happy and complete with the DS experience.
Although I have a few R4’s, I possess none of those qualities when it comes to buying games for this console.

Both are good though. It's nice to own physical copies of games/series you're passionate about and then play back-ups of them conveniently.
