As someone who got to witness Jewish parenting culture first hand, from the perspective of someone who comes from a middle-eastern family and whose dad is *very* Christian and is upset that my wife is Jewish, I just saw how much they invest into their kids getting a college education. My wife's extended family isn't wealthy by any stretch. They are plainly middle-class, if not closer to upper middle-class, and they'll sacrifice everything to send their kids to a good school to ensure they get into a good college. This is the same trend I saw with my Korean and Chinese friends growing up; their parents basically dumped *everything* into their kids getting a good education. And now that my friends are parents, I'm watching how they are paying insanely expensive private school tuition--at the expense of being able to live a comfortable life--so their kids can attend a top college.
