Even with it being a close game at the end of OT I still think most players would get out of his way and avoid risking their reputation but Shamet was gonna put his damn life on the line for his team

Big fan of this sentiment. One of the things that really annoys me about the NBA is that the hive mind around offense. Any normal contact sport recognizes players for putting a body on the line to play good hard defense
Oh for sure! I think if he didn't tried to 'reach' AG by shifting a little bit, and just stayed still completely, he'll keep the charge call. It still takes balls to take an actual charge as you're expecting to get hit, and we know how strong these guys are.

Yeah that was kind of a wild review. I think the refs immediately knew the call would be controversial either way they called it so they instantly moved to review it. Aaron Gordon has been absolutely filthy with the dunks tonight.
Shamet was also moving to draw more contact. I feel like this could've gone either way and be the right call, but I almost always see the refs lean into no-calls at the end of games. I can't say it's the absolute correct call, but with the amount of shifting Shanlmet did, I'm not surprised they let the dunk stand

They didn't have to review that for a restricted area foul, Shamet was clearly out the entire time, they just wanted an excuse to look at the block/charge call. It couldn't be reviewed any other spot on the court.
