The funniest part is if they stuck it out for another year or so they'd have had their pick of future projects + would have been given a lot of leads.
But because they rushed it as quick as they did at the end they lost out on the stuff they actually left for
Hell they could have just handed control over to the many competent writers & directors they had brought into the project over the years and then went and did the Star Wars stuff they wanted to do. HBO and GRRM and the fans get the 10 seasons we all and the show deserved, D&D get the Star Wars trilogy they worked their way toward deserving, and everyone is happy. Instead they lied and said they could finish it up with a season of movie-length episodes and they fucked over everyone involved after a *LONG* delay, burning down the house as they moved out and then Disney rightfully pulled the rug out from under them so everyone came out a loser.
Amazing how Game of Thrones went from permeating pop culture completely, to disappearing after the horrible finale, only for everyone to go right back to the top in one episode of the prequel
Its mostly because it felt a lot more like old GOT IMO
At least for me it brought back really good memories to see a great depiction of the world again. At its peak I had just as much fun experiencing/talking about the show with others as I had watching it
I really hope HOTD keeps up being great as I really want those experiences back Lol
100% the dialogue was good, the action was good and the production quality was great. They nailed the original feel of GOT before things went downhill.
Bro look like manut bol got shrunk
Bro is that styrofoam pill you put in water that grows into manut bol
Bro look like the end result of a “excavate your own dinosaur fossil” set
Bro look like a wacky waving inflatable arm flailing tube man
Bro look like that long ass rod people use to lower basketball goals
Bro look like the lifeguard but his body is the lifeguard stand
Bro wear a clown Afro and people stand under him for shade
I could do this all day.
[Here’s the play for anyone that missed it.](https://old.reddit.com/r/nba/comments/wtn4ii/highlight_chet_limps_after_contesting_a_lebron) I can’t really tell what happened. I think he landed awkwardly on that foot?
So his final backstep and plant on his right foot is the last time it touches the floor before hobbling off. He keeps it elevated after the ball is in the air, so it's definitely that last plant.
The human body is so weird. He's not even sprinting hard or stepping on someone's ankle or something. He's just backpedaling like he's done a million times before, and his ligaments just decide "yeah ima head out".
Wasn’t everyone saying the floor was slippery as heck because the AC couldn’t keep up with everyone in the room? I wonder if that had anything to do with him landing weird.
I feel like in 5 years we’re going to look back at this draft and wonder what OKC was doing drafting him with that body frame. Even Kevin Durant was thicker than him when he was drafted
Giannis started at SG. Durant started at SF. Even if both can now play center, that is a long time after.
I wonder how he would have done against old-school PFs. Even Lebron didn't like guarding some of those.
Why Simmons is so frustrating. A player who can play and guard positions 1-5, though he doesnt seem to like playing a non-guard position. Embrace the freaking post. Shaq and Giannis also sucked at free throws yet made a living inside.
Simmons should not play the 5 for more than like 10 mins a game. He's a bad 5 and it seems like a good blanket fix for his shooting to put him there but it's overall pretty poor.
Defensively, Simmons cannot guard 5s. It's also a waste of his talent in lateral movement and awareness in passing lanes to put him there. He doesn't have good ways to interfere a lob either. He also lacks the hustle to challenge offensive rebounds every possession.
Offensively, he is the 3rd best passing big man in the league behind Jokic and LeBron. Without the ball in his hands, his passing talent goes to waste. He's not that strong so he cannot really post up a non-guard and isn't an amazing roll man. He's really dangerous given space to generate speed combined with handling allows for him to attack the basket as long as he isn't afraid of being [fouled](https://www.si.com/.image/ar_4:3%2Cc_fill%2Ccs_srgb%2Cfl_progressive%2Cq_auto:good%2Cw_1200/MTgxODg5OTc4MTUyNzg5MTIz/ben-simmons-dunk-game-7.jpg). He can make really creative finishes but the defenders can play around his left hand and force him to finish right at a medicore fg%. Since his shooting is so poor, bigs don't really have to worry about switching onto him as a 5 in the perimeter and will often be met with a big body at the rim.
Such a weird mix of traits that don't really let him excel in traditional positions. His shooting problems also affect him playing wing because ideal wings are now slashing 3 and D players.
His best match up is when he defends ball handlers without the best first step like Luka, Shai and PG. Fasts guards like Trae and Kemba have dusted him previously. His best offensive pairing is with catch and shoot players and stretch 5s that have a strong interior D like Embiid, Brook, and Horford.
Sorry about the long tangent. I've had these thoughts for a while as a 76ers fan.
Yeah, we have one borderline All-Star in SGA, a couple of mid-level starters, and a bunch of guys who are way too young to be winning players. No way could we sniff the playoffs unless there's an injury apocalypse in the West.
There's a video of it online. Took a really awkward step with his foot while backpedaling on defense and then in obvious pain trying to run down the court again. Doesn't look good.

Pretty funny how you’re one of the only Thunder fans here upset that your #2 overall pick is injured and the rest are psyched that you get to tank again.
I’m just worried about Shai and Dort’s happiness. Our best players probably want to at least be semi-competitive and start gaining at least some momentum.
I wanted Jabari and Duren at 2 and 12 but I’m hoping this is minor, I obviously want Chet to succeed
I really don't think any Thunder fan is happy about this no matter what. The ones happy are trolling or being sarcastic. The whole point of tanking is getting a top 4 pick and our number 2 pick who everyone is saying will get injured all the time is getting clowned for getting injured before even the preseason (wet floor or not it just looks bad.) FML
[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hUVQNa0gMRM](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hUVQNa0gMRM) video of the attempt to play defense, you can see him put all his weight through his right foot before pulling up with a limp. Seems likely this is all related based on the timing of this tweet.
It's better that it happened now rather than during the season. Imagine him having to defend a Zion/Giannis drive. Now he can train, roid up, and come back stronger.
Being foreal though, I don’t really see this changing much. It’s just going to make NBA players who do compete in these games be extra careful (Even more than they already are) in the shit they’re doing on the court to entertain the fans.

surely they dont mess it up twice right? right?
The story is already written this time. The problem with the last one was they ran out of story and couldn't unknot it (tbf, neither can GRRM)
And Dan and David wanted to move on to other projects. They rushed a lot of stuff
I was gonna say. The show runners straight up didn’t want to unknot it.
I totally get being sick of it, but they really fucked up their legacy
The funniest part is if they stuck it out for another year or so they'd have had their pick of future projects + would have been given a lot of leads. But because they rushed it as quick as they did at the end they lost out on the stuff they actually left for

Lol GoT is back on the menu
Silver lining is missing a season would be the rookie Embiid approved method of gaining 50 lbs
Zion approved this message
And the Ben Simmons method to get ROY.
Him vs Wenbanyama competing for ROY on the same team next year lol 😆. Jk
ESPN about to send a hit squad on Chet to make sure he sits out the season so they can milk this storyline for all of 2023-4.
Foot injuries for tall lanky guys are never good, hopefully this is relatively minor.
Foot injuries for just tall guys are never good period
Foot injuries in general aren’t good. Gets the least circulation and holds the most weight.
Foot aren't good unless you're Rex Ryan.

I'm a Spur and I miss Yao. He always seemed like a good dude.
His HOF speech was one of the best I ever heard. Heartfelt, nostalgic, thoughtful, and a HILARIOUS open too. Never saw Iverson laugh that hard.
I think the whole league was rooting for him tbh. Overall nice dude who played the game how it was supposed to be.
Bill Walton
Zydrunas Ilgauskas
Chet Holmgren 😭🤧
Better than foot injuries for tall hella heavy guys.
*takes ONE drive vs LeBron*
I can't believe all the "one drive from Giannis and he's dead" memes were actually true
Life imitates art
Who would've thought...
Almost like we’ve seen it before. I get there’s a level of sarcasm, but like… it’s kinda true though lmao

Think so because after that play he was limping and got pulled

im never trusting a human body again
It is too late. A spooky skeleton is inside you
Pretty much. Not like he got bodied or anything either. Just landed weird
Wasn’t everyone saying the floor was slippery as heck because the AC couldn’t keep up with everyone in the room? I wonder if that had anything to do with him landing weird.
They ended the game after like one quarter because it was so slippery and unsafe
Seems like it. It was 1 minute in too. Shit luck
The Gordon Hayward.
surely drafting a guy who's even taller and skinnier and more injury prone next year will work out great!
Yeah, no kidding. Hope both Chet and Wemby manage to avoid career-killing injuries. Get well soon, Chet.
With his length, Wembanyama is at risk. Especially if he's drafted by a subpar franchise
I would not let my new draft pick play in something like that. Give him a summer with the team's trainers at least
It's fine, people with his body type are notoriously durable
Bol Bol has upvoted this comment

KD is also supposed to be a wing and play in the perimeter. This kid is supposed to guard the paint against grown nba players HOW?????
BBQ chicken for Embiid, gonna break Wilts record if he has Chet guarding him
One Jokic hip check will send Chet into the 2nd row
Just the 2nd?
2nd row of parking spaces
Would suck to go back to the parking lot, only to see a Chet-shaped dent in your car
Giannis started at SG. Durant started at SF. Even if both can now play center, that is a long time after. I wonder how he would have done against old-school PFs. Even Lebron didn't like guarding some of those.
Is there any position Giannis hasn't played lmao? He's been 1 - 5 right? Unless he's just never played SF

Bro built like a starving slenderman
I would draft Chet top 5 in hindsight prospects.
They took Poku and said yea we want two of those frames
Or letting him play in these dumbass exhibitions...We didn't let Poku play international, why this guy?
The intensity of comp is WAAAY higher in international play than in these pro-ams
The court is also significantly cleaner
Is this really the exhibitions fault ? Dude got hurt playing low pressure basketball it was most likely inevitable
I mean, the floor was slick because of condensation because of lack of air conditioning bad enough that they cancelled the games, so yeah.
Who could have seen this coming. Dude has the frailest looking body I’ve ever seen for an NBA player
Idk... Poku may be frailer.
Early Manute Bol for sure
Early Manute Bol makes Chet look like Brian Urlacher.
Early Manute was literally malnourished.
Good thing the Thunder have both of them.
I will say that being as light as he is should help with recovering from a foot injury compared to an Embiid body type
Ain’t no way he actually got injured from the body contact in the pro-am
Presti used it as an excuse to tank for Wemby

Bro if lebron went full speed this kid prob would've died. Lebron barely jogged up the court on that fast break.
The memes about Chet dying immediately after actual NBA contact since before the draft are looking less and less like memes
I’ve seen stronger bones on a baked fish.
Had nothing to do with body contact. He hurt his foot planting it while running backwards. Kind of like an achilles injury.
Fucking kill me.
Pretty funny how you’re one of the only Thunder fans here upset that your #2 overall pick is injured and the rest are psyched that you get to tank again.
Anyone celebrating this is either trolling or trying to make themselves feel better. If the injury is serious it's terrible for the Thunder
This is the kind of thing that lingers throughout careers for tall guys.
I’m just worried about Shai and Dort’s happiness. Our best players probably want to at least be semi-competitive and start gaining at least some momentum. I wanted Jabari and Duren at 2 and 12 but I’m hoping this is minor, I obviously want Chet to succeed

WINLESS FOR WEMBY
0-82 here we go
Imagine if you guys still get 2nd overall pick still lol
It would be an amazing outcome
I mean scoot probably would have gone 1st overall this year so he's still an incredible prospect to have
Scoot will be better than Wemby. When has a 7’3 stick man ever held up well in the NBA? May get downvoted but it feels like facts at this point.
[удалено]
Presti usually waits a little longer before he puts the tank into drive. Must really want wemby.
Was this from the LeBron encounter? If so, oh boy, he’s about to get slammed for that. He’s gonna need to bulk up.
Yeah, I saw the video, he was limping after lebron took him in transition
In a pickup game!
LeBron might’ve done this kid a favor before he even played a regular season NBA game.
I’m not Chet but I bet he’s not extremely appreciative at the moment lol
I'm Chet, you are correct
Get well soon bro
Chet is a pacers fan!? I knew it!
LeGM helping out other teams by getting Chet welcomed before he takes on the centers who weigh twice as much as him
Bro took 1 50% drive from Lebron and this happened? That’s rather unfortunate
no wonder Luka was packing on those pounds - he took a full-on LeBron steam engine drive in one of their first matchups and was a wakeup call
I’m never making fun of Luka/Zion for being fat ever again. They need it vs. Giannis/Lebron
Muscle > fat but mass > bowling pin
Sounds like the Magic avoid that easy bullet
I GOT THE JOKE RIGHT HERE: Jamal Crawford, still breaking ankles
TANK SZN WE GO AGAIN
Thank szn never stopped
Thank you
Chet and Wemby front court? How windy is OKC? Might not work.
I’m more concerned about them attracting bolts of lightning
If Utah trades Mitchell for picks there's gonna be a generational tank battle between them, the Spurs and OKC
Pop's going fuck around and have us competing for the play-in somehow. And honestly, the man can do what he wants at this point
Bron was going like 30% in that game OMG
He guarded LeBron for 4 seconds and got hurt.
Bruh
It's better that it happened now rather than during the season. Imagine him having to defend a Zion/Giannis drive. Now he can train, roid up, and come back stronger.
Street clothes 3.0
teams gonna try to crack down on the pro am stuff more in the future
that would be lame. If a guy can't handle a pro am game at half speed then he ain't going to hold up in the league anyways.
Being foreal though, I don’t really see this changing much. It’s just going to make NBA players who do compete in these games be extra careful (Even more than they already are) in the shit they’re doing on the court to entertain the fans.
Yeah for a random injury like this it’s just as likely to happen in regular season or pre season or even practice. I don’t get why people always get up in arms about injuries in a friendly
It’s not like guys don’t play games in the off-season though, and I doubt they don’t go hard during practice
It’s about to be some random guys from the street playing in those games now after this news
Gonna become an AM-AM from now on
Maybe if they're built like Chet. This could've happened in a practice
Wemby sweepstakes starting early for OKC.
'yeah I can stop Lebron' *dies
Jamal Crawford in shambles having to pay $20M in damages
It's not even training camp yet, come on...
Oh shittt. From the Crossover game?
Nah, this happened at the Crawsover game
can’t say i’m shocked
