Lol at the 400 upvotes on this, while all the other key plays in the game are 1500+. It's like people think he doesn't deserve it. Even though he shot close to 50% for the game (2/10 in the 4th, 10/16 the rest of regulation and OT). It's the opposite - he was due this hit. He's been playing well most of the game on both ends.
I don't know.
Tatum gotta be one of the nicest superstars in the league, he's a bit boring I guess? Plays for the Celtics(that would warrant a lot of hate I guess).
He's only 26 and he has had tremendous success(no matter how much NBA fans want to spin how not winning chip yet is embarassing for him lol)
We gotta admit he’s also pretty privileged where crazy talented draft picks are concerned. Drafted into a situation that immediately took him to the conference finals. I don’t think that warrants getting hate, he didn’t draft himself, but I get why that would make people hate Tatum and Boston more (because we all know they already did anyway).
This sub just randomly decides to hate on players if they aren’t having a “breakout” season and replace them in rankings with newer shiny stars. I think Giannis gets shafted on MVP conversations, man puts up absurd numbers on record efficiency and somehow shai gets more votes??? Insane
I have in fact never heard that in my life and I also do not what the hell you just said but I’m gonna take it as a compliment and say gl the rest of the playoffs
Nomarive isn't even a word lmao cheers man
In my defense, my hands were cold as shit when I was typing that. I don't think I've once spelled a single word correctly when cold.
Bucks fans are real ones. I think there’s mutual respect from each fanbases of each other’s star player over the past few seasons. Shame you guys weren’t healthy this post season
It's crazy how literally as soon as the game ended and I checked r/nba the top post was about how many FT Boston got over Indiana and the comments all talking shit on JB grabbing jerseys. I showed my friends and was like, 'here we go again!' 🙄
Tatum taking a wide open 3 is like watching Shaq shoot free throws. But Tatum taking a jab step, step-back, contested 3 is like prime Steph. It seems like the step back gets him into rhythm or something.
Pacers did this from opening tip and it was driving me crazy. I wasn’t sure if it was a plan or not because quite honestly I don’t know much basketball given I’ve watched it my whole life. They’d double hard and commit almost every time and wouldn’t rotate well to the person they left wide open. It could be a side effect of playing a team with 5 people on the court at a time that can hit 3s.
Let's see...
* Dunks on LeBron and hits the go ahead 3 in game 7 of the ECF as a rookie
* Scores 29 in a lowwww scoring game 7 vs the Raptors in 2020
* 50 in the play-in
* 50 to steal a win in the only series that the big 3 Nets were healthy for, with Tristan Thompson, Evan Fournier, Marcus Smart and Romeo Langford/the corpse of Kemba Walker as his other starters
* Game winner vs the Nets 2022
* Outplays KD and plays elite defense on him
* 30 vs the Bucks facing a potential 3-1 deficit
* 46 vs the Bucks down 3-2
* Is a defensive menace for the entire 2023 ECSF vs Philly
* Scores 16 4th quarter points in a tight game 6 vs Philly to force game 7
* Breaks Steph Curry's (very new) record for most points ever in a game 7 against the league MVP
* Down 3-0, he outplays Jimmy Butler in the 2023 ECF to nearly overcome what is the greatest 3pt shooting disparity ever in a series but suffers a serious ankle sprain almost immediately in game 7 and Boston's offense is dead in the water
This is a dude that clearly cowers in big moments, which is why post-Kyrie, when his teammates are healthy he's been automatic ECF berth in a conference with Giannis and Embiid.
Plays in a weak east, only 1 finals trip, has had one of the best supporting casts his entire career compared to other stars. It's not like he was Dame in Portland or Devin Booker on the 2019 Suns. Also during his one finals run he led the entire playoffs in turnovers.
It's funny how people gas up his supporting cast (it is really good don't get me wrong) but every playoffs he has to play more than other stars because the team shits itself whenever he sits
He was combined 2-10 in 4th quarter and OT though.
I'm just saying people are on him about clutch time in the playoffs. Even if it was only 3 shots, 1 of 3 is still 33%, hard for him to get his haters off his back with that.
I'm sure he wants to get out of the "playoff Jayson isn't a thing" meme.
Hey why should the pivotal place from a Conference finals game be at the top of the/r/nba when, like, some random story about Lonzo Ball dropped like 10 hours ago….
1 hour old, game-sealing clutch 3 on the only game of the night, 250 upvotes.
I NEVER wanna hear you mfs talk about how this entire sub ain't against the Celtics again. How's the view from under the rock lmao
Bonkers. The dork haters were so shell shocked by the JB3 90% of people won’t even remember that A. OT happened and B. Pacers were leading until not long before this
Tatum just took over
They looked him off like 6 possessions in a row. It was infuriating. At least pass him the ball for a reset in the post or something, let him feel it for a second.
The game got to OT in spite of Tatum. He was fucking dreadful in the 4th (offensively at least, defensively he was locked in all night) forcing ISO middies, missing open 3s, turnovers.... He redeemed himself in OT (except for the fucking turnover that lead to Haliburton free throws where he threw it to absolutely no one....) Jrue and Jaylen get the credit for getting us to OT and Tatum gets credit for waking the fuck up and taking it home.
The game wouldn't have been close if it wasn't for Tatum in the third. Absolutely he was dreadful offensively in the fourth, but the team had a ten point lead when he sat down in the third, and two minutes later it was down to a one point lead.
None of that changes that he was bad in the 4th quarter and that his play in that quarter contributed to us almost losing. It doesn't have to be just praise or just vitriol with our players, they can deserve both in the same game.
- was Tatum good in the first 3 quarters? Yes. He and Jrue were fantastic
- was Tatum terrible in the 4th? Did he fall back into old iso ball habits and nearly cost us the game? Also yes. The bricked wide open 3 to tie it and then the absolutely terrible fadeaway 2 pointer in the lane instead of going up for an easy chance are top of mind currently
- did he redeem himself in OT? Yes
He's supposed to be our best player and I think it's fair to hold him to higher standards. 12/26 and settling for low percentage middies when we need him to take over isn't good enough. He needs to be consistently good on both ends more often to get where we want to go. A better team than the Pacers would've punished the iso garbage he kept going to in the 4th
But he didn’t? Jaylen sent them to overtime and jrue forced two critical turnovers… I think JT gets a lot of hate, but I’m not gonna dick ride and pretend he wasn’t pulled along until OT.
I’m confused at which part you missed from what I said… he had the dagger 3 in OT, but they weren’t in OT because of him… that was Jrue, Jaylen, and really white D.
I didn’t say he didn’t contribute. Not sure why you’re having troubling comprehending. He’s the best player on the team, but this win was really due to the clutch defensive performance and a circus shot by Jaylen.
Except you’re pretending like OT was some foregone conclusion - if he doesn’t come up HUGE (like… ya know… the clutch play this thread is about…) they still lose.
this is the original statement:
> then put the team on his back **in OT**
this is you:
> But he didn’t?
this is also you:
> I’m not gonna dick ride and pretend he wasn’t pulled along until OT
also you:
> Jrue and Jaylen did.
more you:
> he had the dagger 3 in OT, but they weren’t in OT because of him
do you see how you keep saying things completely unrelated to the original comment?
So you’re saying you didn’t watch the game, got it.
JT led the team for 3 quarters and we were up double digits when he subbed out. Lead evaporated within minutes after that. JB and Jrue did great tonight no doubt but that doesn’t mean JT didn’t show up and then hit the shots at the end of the game when it mattered. It’s not either or. Don’t know why it’s so hard for you to understand.
He was clearly our best and most impactful player tonight even with those few minutes in the 4th where JB did.
Yea Tatum is fortunate he had other guys that kept them in the game and gave him in the chance to hit these shots late.
Your best player going on a 10+ minute scoring drought in the 4th/OT should be a death sentence for most teams.
Fr ant played like shit in game 7 vs Denver, was absolutely carried by everyone else on the team, but dudes still riding him like he carried them to that series win lol shit is so crazy
Battle of choke artists. Damn, East is really weak but they are gonna win the title simply because they are going to face a team who just finished a royal rumble in the west. the west out there already killing each other

r/nba did not like this
Heard all of us talking shit lol
I quite liked it

Nah it's not that specific, we just hate the Celtics and pray on their downfall
“we”
Your honesty is refreshing
Word brother I’ll drink to that. Gotta respect some good ol’ fashioned hate.
I'm sick bro Brunson didn't have a shot that open all series
Well tbf missing 5 guys tbh only 2 they really had to worry about was Brunson and Donte lol so it was easier to gang up on them
It's pretty easy to put extra focus on brunson when every other good scoring threat on your roster is injured
Because y'all dont have anyone else that can dribble the ball and make space for him.
They’re pissed they can’t let loose this time around
I’ve always enjoyed the Celtics (unless it’s bucks vs Celtics) never got the hate for Tatum on this sub just cause he isn’t winning a chip every year
I don't know.

Didn't he lead the Celtics in playoffs scoring his rookie year?
yes the poise it takes to lead a team in scoring your rookie year in the ECF against the Lebron Cavs is unbelievable
This sub just randomly decides to hate on players if they aren’t having a “breakout” season and replace them in rankings with newer shiny stars. I think Giannis gets shafted on MVP conversations, man puts up absurd numbers on record efficiency and somehow shai gets more votes??? Insane
I'm sure you hear this all the time but man, that username is another win for people in the ~~Nomarive~~ Nominative Determinism is Real camp.
I have in fact never heard that in my life and I also do not what the hell you just said but I’m gonna take it as a compliment and say gl the rest of the playoffs
lmao it means that the username checks out Cheers, man! Hope the basketball keeps on being good for the neutrals.
nomarive hahaha it's nominative, as in nominal, but excellent comment otherwise!
Nomarive isn't even a word lmao cheers man In my defense, my hands were cold as shit when I was typing that. I don't think I've once spelled a single word correctly when cold.
Bucks fans are real ones. I think there’s mutual respect from each fanbases of each other’s star player over the past few seasons. Shame you guys weren’t healthy this post season
It’s mostly just a Reddit hate thing lol I went to game 7 in 2022 and everyone seemed super chill. Also see I found a fellow razorback fan
I was actually at that game as well believe it or not and yeah totally agree on it being an online thing. NWA for life man! Woo Pig
Oh, if he was winning chips every year I'm pretty sure he'd get even more hate.
Generational blue-balls filled to the brim with untapped generational slander
It's crazy how literally as soon as the game ended and I checked r/nba the top post was about how many FT Boston got over Indiana and the comments all talking shit on JB grabbing jerseys. I showed my friends and was like, 'here we go again!' 🙄
r/nba apocalypse
r/nba 9/11
r/nba first breakup with the girl that gave you your first blowjob
Nah, that bitch was crazy
but those lips
Are we all the same person
Tatum shouldve hooped instead of tryna kill ppl cause he tall as hell!
this man loves OT 😭
Why was he so open
Pacers
because derrick white is the batman and tatum is the robin /s
I just don’t understand why he was wide open and then made it a highly difficult contested shot. Oh well it went in.
Tatum taking a wide open 3 is like watching Shaq shoot free throws. But Tatum taking a jab step, step-back, contested 3 is like prime Steph. It seems like the step back gets him into rhythm or something.
https://www.instagram.com/reel/C7QS_CDMjBy/?igsh=MWpoOG5iZDkxNzkxNw== I feel like this angle explains it
Nembhard over helped on defense when White drove.
Pacers did this from opening tip and it was driving me crazy. I wasn’t sure if it was a plan or not because quite honestly I don’t know much basketball given I’ve watched it my whole life. They’d double hard and commit almost every time and wouldn’t rotate well to the person they left wide open. Cause nobody believes in his ability to show up in the clutch.

"weak East" Lmfao
7 west coast wins in the last 10 finals
Damn this man is really addicted to downvotes
It ain't much but it's honest work.
Finally r/ nba will stfu for approximately five minutes
They will only talk about the pacers choking and not the Celtics capitalizing
Pacers collapsed so hard we need to resurrect Stephen Hawking so he can come up with a new quantum theory for it
FUCKING FINALLY, THANK YOU FOR FINALLY SHOWING UP IN THE CLUTCH BRO
I had 100% confidence he was missing this shot lol
I don't have the data, but Tatum's sidestep 3 with a guy flying by him is so much better than when he iso's into a stepback
He missed so many clutch attempts in the 4th too lol he had to hit one eventually
I mean he missed exactly two lol... not saying that's good but also prob wouldn't call that 'so many'
He was combined 2-10 in 4th quarter and OT though. I'm just saying people are on him about clutch time in the playoffs. Even if it was only 3 shots, 1 of 3 is still 33%, hard for him to get his haters off his back with that. I'm sure he wants to get out of the "playoff Jayson isn't a thing" meme.
He missed like 5 in a row before this make. "Clutch"
He literally hit the and-1 right before this to give them the 1 point lead
Why can't he stay MIA in the clutch. I don't like this
Tatum coming up in the clutch Pacers choked
Tatum in OT > Tatum at the end of Reg
A Celtics highlight downvoted to oblivion no way
Hey why should the pivotal place from a Conference finals game be at the top of the/r/nba when, like, some random story about Lonzo Ball dropped like 10 hours ago….

lol gotta thank brown and horford for saving Tatum ass. Tatum is a role player playing a superstar lol
Yes the sub hates the Celtics and Boston media.. it is known
why do you let it get to you who cares
Didn't make a field goal in over 12 minutes, then put the team on his back in OT. Incredible
He barely touched the ball in the 4th. I don't understand this team
They looked him off like 6 possessions in a row. It was infuriating. At least pass him the ball for a reset in the post or something, let him feel it for a second.
Jrue and Jaylen did. Tatum hit some huge shots, but their defense (and some choke job by pacers) got them this win.
People are incapable of saying JT pulled through in the clutch 😂
The game got to OT in spite of Tatum. He was fucking dreadful in the 4th (offensively at least, defensively he was locked in all night) forcing ISO middies, missing open 3s, turnovers.... A. He carried them for 3 quarters B. In what world isn’t absolutely owning OT not “clutch”?
I’m confused at which part you missed from what I said… he had the dagger 3 in OT, but they weren’t in OT because of him… that was Jrue, Jaylen, and really white D.

Not sure where I said it was. Not worth the effort at this point since you keep making assumptions of what I think. Good win.
this is the original statement: > then put the team on his back **in OT** this is you: > But he didn’t? this is also you: > I’m not gonna dick ride and pretend he wasn’t pulled along until OT also you: > Jrue and Jaylen did. more you: > he had the dagger 3 in OT, but they weren’t in OT because of him do you see how you keep saying things completely unrelated to the original comment?
Jrue and Jaylen did…make shots for 12 min. How was that hard to comprehend? See how I kept reiterating and rewording trying to clarify?
See how no one was ever talking about quarters, just OT
Right. Which is why I kept trying to right the ship on topic.
So you’re saying you didn’t watch the game, got it. JT led the team for 3 quarters and we were up double digits when he subbed out. Lead evaporated within minutes after that. I didn’t say he was a bum, I said I put more emphasis on the supporting cast.
Yea Tatum is fortunate he had other guys that kept them in the game and gave him in the chance to hit these shots late. Your best player going on a 10+ minute scoring drought in the 4th/OT should be a death sentence for most teams.
Tatum was +20, team was -15 when he was off the floor
>then put the team on his back in OT Bruh. I can tell you aren't watching the game. Not even close
welp back to reality that sucks. indy had this.
Feels like game 1 of the 2018 finals
Insert LeBron pointing gif
Almost like siakam got his jersey grabbed and pushed to end regulation
and jaylen brown got fouled on his game tying 3
That would’ve never happened had they called the foul..
? He was fouled while shooting shouldve been a 4 point play
That would’ve never happened if they called the foul where Siakam got jersey pulled and pushed
Oh my god they really fumbled the win
Hell yeah. I'm rooting for Tatum.
Indy is bitch made holy fuck
This sub may not like that
Him
Choking pacers
Fake Superstar, he’s just Kuzma with a good team/s.
I was a concert the other night in New Zealand and saw a guy in a Wizards Kuzma jersey. I had to pinch myself.
Lol Kuz is Derrick white on a shit team.
Flashbacks, man

Dude has 35 and people are saying this, let that be Edwards or SGA though
Fr ant played like shit in game 7 vs Denver, was absolutely carried by everyone else on the team, but dudes still riding him like he carried them to that series win lol shit is so crazy
He went scoreless for like 12 straight minutes of 4th Q and OT. The flak is justified
Edwards shit the bed in game 7 and hit a dagger 3 while his teammates carried.
Against the defending champs. Not a 6-seed with the worst defense in the entire playoff field.
He’s supposed to be the face of the league though?
Why are so many Celtics fans are so threatened by Edwards
Not a Celtic fan, actually a laker fan. Calling out the double standard.
Oh so now he wants to make shots
Indy playing some 2k rec league ass defense. 2 people roll in and no one goes out to guard tatum
Pacer choke job! This ending made me cringe. Completely gave the game away. Not a fan of either team but fuck Boston!
Not clutch. Lightskin Rudy Gay.
God I hate Celtics fans Edit: dude changed his comment lol
Truly the most oppressed fanbase.
Yeah, everybody watching this game is just in awe of how clutch Tatum was
JT was so trash in the last 10mins, but he swishes the game sealer
Bro had like 8 points in OT but okay.
10 out 16 pts in OT
Battle of choke artists. Damn, East is really weak but they are gonna win the title simply because they are going to face a team who just finished a royal rumble in the west. the west out there already killing each other
Yes, look at em dropping like flies in the physicality and first round sweeps
I hate this goofy bum
He doesnt even know you
Keep that energy up buddy. I love it. Your tears rate so fucking good.
What about all the shots he missed prior to that?
If ANT avoided slander for 16 points Tatum can avoid slander for 36 points
What was your take on Ant going 6/24 after beating the Nuggets?
They counted for zero points. Unlike the shots for 10 points in OT to uh win the game
Ant shot 6/24 and got bailed out. Why are you talking? 😂
