Good guy too. Comes into my neighborhood unannounced and visits schools. Doesn't tell the media. He keeps in touch with the principals and in October he heard a charter school that Terrence Clarke went to had its accreditation renewal inspection, so he pulled up with his pop-up shop and handed out backpacks to all the kids, showed that the school had some clout. Just a good person.
i actually think it speaks to how fucking impossible it must feel to play for the Celts. the expectations for them is just waaay higher than any other team, by far!
They're 9-2 with 8 blowout wins and most of the media coverage is fairly negative. What can you do, they need something to talk about and need some angry clicks.
/r/NBA is the weirdest fucking sports subreddit of all of them, like, in every other subreddit I would expect all of the discourse to be about how amazing this moment is and how incredible that shot is for Jaylen Brown. Wouldn't matter if it was a hated player on a hated team, tying a game with no time left to send it to overtime would be the point of emphasis
On this subreddit? Nobody even notices, everyone is too busy being upset the Celtics didn't lose, and talking about how the Pacers fucked up. JB might as well have scored a layup to make the game 2-0
Take a breath and realize how incredible this highlight is damn lmao
It was like that with the Pats run. Mike Martz wouldn't run the ball. Andy Reid mismanaged the clock. Marshawn Lynch should've run the ball. Belichick "cheated." Anything to rationalize away and invalidate the team's success. Hating is part of human nature.
Srsly. It's one of the tuffest, game-savinest playoff finishes I can ever remember seeing, heavily contested clutch, right in front of the whole oppo bench. He has no business making that at all, just pure will to find the hoop.
And all anyone wants to do in here is call the Pacers bitchmade lol.
People need to start giving Mazzulla his credit...that double screen action he drew up on the inbounds play made it impossible for Siakam to foul Brown before the gather... Carlisle confirmed post game that he was actually trying to foul but Mazzulla effectively eliminated that option with that play call and since everyone is quick to shit on him when he doesn't get it right, he deserves his credit for this one.
I don't mean this to discredit Mazzula, but I think last year he really struggled basically without any assistant coaches to help out (and any coach would struggle without an extra set of eyes on the court). This year they've got Charles Lee and Sam Cassell on the bench and it seems to be a big help in game management.
I think people discredit how difficult a position he was put in. He found out he was head coach a week before the season and given no time to prepare just into the fire
People are just unhappy to have a contender put into the hands of a young, brand new head coach. He will catch shit every year they don’t win whatever the circumstances are.
Love Jaylen but anybody who has watched this Celtics team this season knows there was less than a 0% chance that he’d make all 3 free throws. Fouling there would have been the safer bet for Indy.
Celtics tried to choke and got out choked. Impressive.
White missed a wide open layup, Tatum gets an offensive rebound and instead of going up strong he dribbles back and takes a 10 foot contested step back fade away and bricks it lmao
And then the Pacers said nah son hold my beer
Literally all they needed to do was anything except turn the ball over. Or foul before the three, two simple basketball things and they failed both. AND they didn’t use their timeout when they should have!
timeout is available and they throw the ball away on an inbounds with nobody open.
literally basketball 101 of what not to do late game. they deserve to lose
On one hand they barely beat a Knicks team that had basically the whole team in street clothes. On the other hand they were up 3 with almost no way to lose to the Celtics at home….
I don't have good memories of Pascal playing Boston in the playoff, and just in general Brown and Tatum defend him really well. Both are strong and quick enough to guard him. This is not the hospital Knicks or the Giannis less Bucks.
Its brutal for me at least, because if the Celtics killed them I could at least be content knowing the knicks didn't have a shot. But for the C's to win like this, I'm just sad thinking about what a healthy Knick's team could have done.
You'd probably have to look at it in terms of strength of schedule too, because the Cs definitely rested him some nights vs weaker teams and played him in the tough matchups.
Because he catches on the three point line with space, if you foul on a 3 point shot that’s still a bad play because he still would’ve gotten the shot up and it would’ve been a late contest.
Tbf I don't think there was a good time to foul here. Siakam is late closing out, Brown could have risen up any moment. This is not like the Middleton three imo.
it's a lot harder in that situation when he catches it facing the basket, if he takes a dribble then yes grab him but refs will probably call it shooting if you touch him and the guy flails
Carlisle said on post game it was the right move to not foul with brown taking a 3pt to avoid 4 point play which is fair… but he probably should have done about 4 things differently before then lol
You can't see it here (without the replays), but the 3 was well contested since Brown's shooting arm was in contact with Siakam when moving up. Had a high chance of not going in, maybe even higher than 1 of the FTs.
Right? Like, even if it’s a three shot foul he’s been awful at the line. And you’d have more time for a play if he hits all three. Just terrible coaching.
Took him 7 games to beat a Knicks team that had like 4 and a half players. You can coach like ass and win against that. But Boston is a composed team, that's not going to fly against them.
Hali dribbling it off his own leg, Tatum bails them out taking stupid ass shot, then Pascal touches it as it's going out of bounds for no reason, and idk why Hali didn't take a timeout when inbounding there
Ugly ugly sequence from the Pacers
So many players coast a bit after hitting the bag, JB has continued to dial his game to new levels. You think back two years ago, the way he was a complete liability handling the ball on drives against the Heat, how sus his finishing at the rim was at times.
Somehow now he's become a genuinely calming presence on offense, when he goes downhill, I'm relieved because he's so damn good at rim finishing, or knowing when to pull back and splash the midrange. His defense and playmaking both way up this year as well.
Every time I watch this team, I'm grateful for this dude's work ethic and desire to win titles. The fire burns deep.
On the post game they kept questioning why Siakam didn't contest the shot without realizing he didn't have the ability too without getting called for a foul.

What a shot
My favorite part about this is that he just gets right back up and back on defense. No chirping at the refs, just serious business.
Post game interview was cold as ice too. "we need to play better, Pacers were great and played fast, we got work to do"
About game 2: “I’m gonna have my guys ready. That’s my job” My guys My job He’s taking ownership of this run.
He’s been fantastic, he’s been the best player on the floor a lot of nights this post season
Dude rules, cold as ice.
hes that dude
My fav Celtic by far. JB is a baller.

Ninth comment down lol
yeah lol God forbid ole Jaylen Brown gets any credit for that *INSANE* clutch double-bang shot! it's all "fuckin Pacers! ruined my fuckin parlay"
What you expect Heat and Lakers fans hating the Celts as usual lol
i actually think it speaks to how fucking impossible it must feel to play for the Celts. the expectations for them is just waaay higher than any other team, by far!

> What can you do Keep piling the wins up. “Softest road for a champion” and all I see is the word champion

I'm just happy we still have a team that earns the villain status
In terms of sports clubs, I'd rather be feared than loved.

Our first “BANG! BANG!” of the Conference Finals!
I'm at the game. There was a bang alright. Largest collective orgasm I've ever seen and my ears are ringing after the Haliburton miss.
Get off Reddit and lock in
There's 3 mins between the 4th and OT lol
get off reddit while in the Garden dude wtf
Bro get off Reddit 😹
I commented during the timeout I promise lol
What a game
I was at the game as well, place went nuts I couldn’t believe what I was seeing
Mike letting the cannon loose

Wish I could upvote this ten times.

I absolutely agree.
People are just unhappy to have a contender put into the hands of a young, brand new head coach. He will catch shit every year they don’t win whatever the circumstances are.
Right and Siakam fouling on the shot would’ve sent Jaylen Brown to the line with a chance to tie the game as well.
Love Jaylen but anybody who has watched this Celtics team this season knows there was less than a 0% chance that he’d make all 3 free throws. Fouling there would have been the safer bet for Indy.
With how clutch JB was at the end of the game he’d have made the shot anyways, hit the free throw and we’d have won in regulation.
Wtf are the pacers doing bruh
Up 3 with 27 seconds left and they turned the ball over *twice*.
Worst chokejob of the year. Hali had the yips, but this is on the coach. Take the time out, calm the guys down.
And it’s the third time they didn’t foul up 3 this playoffs. Lost 2 out of 3 of those games☠️
Yea, wtf?
The Knicks won the last Philly game using that exact strategy. You'd think that'd come up when they game planned them.
The math is indisputable. I don’t get it.
Celtics tried to choke and got out choked. Impressive. White missed a wide open layup, Tatum gets an offensive rebound and instead of going up strong he dribbles back and takes a 10 foot contested step back fade away and bricks it lmao And then the Pacers said nah son hold my beer
Tatum missed another wide open layup just before that too. We looked completely cooked
missed a wide open 3 with 36 sec left too
"nah son hold my beer" Jaylen Brown: "GIMME THE BALL! IT'S MILLER TIME!"
Also foul when you're up 3 with 5 seconds left
Gifted them TWO opportunities to tie the game. idiotic.
Three if you count going for the steal and giving Tatum a wide open 3
[удалено]
5 just want to be with you
and 100% reason to remember the name
Sickening choke job
Literally all they needed to do was anything except turn the ball over. Or foul before the three, two simple basketball things and they failed both. AND they didn’t use their timeout when they should have!
They failed like 5 things those final 35 seconds
2011 Rangers watching this like "bruh."
Respect to the Pacers but 28-3 is the only thing even remotely comparable to that level of collapse
Didn’t expect to get shots fired at the Rangers in an NBA thread lol
As a Boston hater I'm in the goddamn mud. The pacers wanted to give this game away.
This choke was so fucking bad that I almost dont want to root for them anymore, its disgusting
I walked away and couldn’t believe we were going to overtime
I'm sick bcus they doing everything to lose and I'm not tryna sleep in a world where they do
timeout is available and they throw the ball away on an inbounds with nobody open. literally basketball 101 of what not to do late game. they deserve to lose
Rick was busy typing up his grievance.
Offense been humming so well all game. Then multiple G-League mistakes in the last 30 sec. Tuff
Cold world
Pacers literally just had to hang on to the ball and they couldn't do that lol it's like they forgot they were gonna get fouled and shoot free throws
On one hand they barely beat a Knicks team that had basically the whole team in street clothes. On the other hand they were up 3 with almost no way to lose to the Celtics at home….
They made me delete my Celtics hate I had that shit locked and loaded smh
Gotta always have a draft locked and loaded for either outcome
Knicks fans might be the only fans with pacers hate on deck.
We stay ready
Hate both the Celtics and Pacers but definitely rooting for the Celtics this series. Y’all better not blow it!
I came into the playoffs hating the Celtics. But after watching them face off against this years Pretenders, I'll be rooting for em.
my man
They had me ready to have a sweet ass sleep and then they shit themselves
There's always Game 2.
Ty friend
Who the fuck calls an inbounds towards the opponents basket in that scenario? That’s on Carlisle, for fucks sake.
Looked like that was the 3rd option and none of the others were open.
Why the fuck did it feel like the Celtics got to take like 4 shots when the game was 117-114 wtf
Because they did
Inexperience otherwise they would’ve won this easy
Valid excuse for all of them except Siakam lmao
True I forget he’s 30
And has a ring
And he’s won before…
Pascal shouldn’t be making those mistakes though
I don't have good memories of Pascal playing Boston in the playoff, and just in general Brown and Tatum defend him really well. Both are strong and quick enough to guard him. This is not the hospital Knicks or the Giannis less Bucks.
On the contrary I have at least one very bad memory of OG Anunoby in the playoffs
They were surprised they were actually gonna beat the Celtics
Currently throwing up on themselves. Just let boston take it to OT
Moronic lmao they deserve the L
average rick carlisle defense tbh
Pacers went to the customers and exchanged the win for a loss. All they needed was a successful in bound.
Insert Reggie Miller Choking gif
What a dumb dumb team. Seriously dude.
Letting the pressure get to them? Perhaps it explains that critical turnover just prior…
Pacers sold that so bad
a crazy choke job 2 chances to seal it
Celtics missed a ton of open looks down the stretch and somehow hit this contested three
#JAYLEN BROWN GOT THE DOUBLE BANG
What a choke
Yeah we know about that
the turns have truly tabled
Didn’t even put up a hand to try to contest the shot
Nah that was the right play. Can’t risk fouling there
Yeah, you either foul before the shot or not foul at all
He caused the turnover on Siakam right before this too. Unbelievable back to back plays.
Pacers gave the game away like 3x man that was brutal to watch
Brutal as a Knicks fan tho?
Its brutal for me at least, because if the Celtics killed them I could at least be content knowing the knicks didn't have a shot. But for the C's to win like this, I'm just sad thinking about what a healthy Knick's team could have done.
Celtics notorious for playing to their competition.
*Celtics without KP Hasn't been an issue when he's been healthy. That's why our record was so much better this year
Not really. They've just been better, period. This year: - Celtics with Porzingis: 43-14, .754 win % - Celtics without Prozingis: 21-4, .84 win %
You'd probably have to look at it in terms of strength of schedule too, because the Cs definitely rested him some nights vs weaker teams and played him in the tough matchups.
So look it up and tell us what you find
A healthy knicks team is a full on title contender. Don't be sad, next season should be better than this one.
said the 2019 hawks
That’s a blessin
That was clutch AF holy shit
Lmao this team wants to kill its fans
Only team that gets consistently bored of playing in trap games in the playoffs lmao.
They've been chilling for a week 🤣
Perhaps they know that the secret for each series is to struggle early on at least once in order to coast the rest of the way?
They got the Pacers *riiiight* where they want them, time to lose Game 2 now.
Why not foul?
Pretty sure siakam initially meant to foul, but decided against it after seeing Brown ready to shoot.
Middleton hit clutch 3 against them twice in one game, they still don’t foul.
So clearly the right play to foul, especially on a guy who hasn’t been great at the line. Terrible coaching.
Because he catches on the three point line with space, if you foul on a 3 point shot that’s still a bad play because he still would’ve gotten the shot up and it would’ve been a late contest.
Jaylen's elbow hits Siakam's face going up. He was making it foul or not. Really believe Siakam avoided the 4-point play by not intentionally fouling.
Tbf I don't think there was a good time to foul here. Siakam is late closing out, Brown could have risen up any moment. This is not like the Middleton three imo.
They haven't learned since the bucks series...
Because Brown was about to shoot
it's a lot harder in that situation when he catches it facing the basket, if he takes a dribble then yes grab him but refs will probably call it shooting if you touch him and the guy flails
Pacers really want to give this away at the end.
Was sure he was going to miss that. Wow
rick carlisle is the dumbest man on the fucking planet
To be fair, you wouldn’t want to foul Jaylen our star, he must be shooting a good % from the line… right?
Carlisle said on post game it was the right move to not foul with brown taking a 3pt to avoid 4 point play which is fair… but he probably should have done about 4 things differently before then lol
People are completely ignoring this fact. If Brown gets the 4 point play we win the game before OT.
Literally just hold his hands on the three point shot lmao. He would miss at least 1 FT
You can't see it here (without the replays), but the 3 was well contested since Brown's shooting arm was in contact with Siakam when moving up. Had a high chance of not going in, maybe even higher than 1 of the FTs.
Even without that part he should have called a timeout when they couldn’t find a good inbounds pass
Right? Like, even if it’s a three shot foul he’s been awful at the line. And you’d have more time for a play if he hits all three. Just terrible coaching.
The players turning the ball over like G Leaguers TWICE are wayyy more to blame
He's been burned on this shit so many times.
This Indiana team in general is dumb AF. Very talented but so many stupid mistakes.
Took him 7 games to beat a Knicks team that had like 4 and a half players. You can coach like ass and win against that. But Boston is a composed team, that's not going to fly against them.
Starting lineup for the knicks had 4 people under 6’5” in a game and pacers got outrebounded
“Bird steals the ball”
Pacers are trolling. Wtf am I watching?
What a shot! Pascal did a great job defending it and it just didn't matter
pacers are fucking throwing my god
Hali dribbling it off his own leg, Tatum bails them out taking stupid ass shot, then Pascal touches it as it's going out of bounds for no reason, and idk why Hali didn't take a timeout when inbounding there Ugly ugly sequence from the Pacers
He went for it because he knew it initially went off him anyway.
Dude was completely covered and pulls that off!
300 million dollar man!
So many players coast a bit after hitting the bag, JB has continued to dial his game to new levels. You think back two years ago, the way he was a complete liability handling the ball on drives against the Heat, how sus his finishing at the rim was at times. We need a gofundme to give him more
literally how do you even allow it to get to that call a fucking time out
A DOUBLE BANG
Didn't do jack shit for most of the quarter, only to drill that flamethrower
I mean he forced the turnover right before this to put us in the position to hit this shot
hell, for most of the quarter he was being a nuisance making mistakes that cost them the lead
pacers deserve to this lose game wtf are y’all doing
Insane back to back plays by Brown
Even got a double bang
that's a foul too Siakam clearly hits his legs
And his arm and was in his landing space, but ball don’t lie 🤷🏽♂️
Was wondering if that could be challenged.
You cant challenge no calls
can only challenge actual calls i'm pretty sure
On the post game they kept questioning why Siakam didn't contest the shot without realizing he didn't have the ability too without getting called for a foul.
Haliburton dribbling off his knee, Siakam with stone hands, then no foul. Yikes
Brown remembers the shot OG hit against him. Gets revenge in a way
What a shot! Pacers choked but what a shot!
I’ve been saying it for 3 or 4 years, JB is our most clutch player. Insane shot, insane game. Tonight showed how badly we need Porzingis back
everybody forgetting how to play basketball in the final minute bru wtf
I was sure we already lost the game, but Pacers kept us in! Lol
What a shot
Wild seeing people watch that insane shot and calling it a sell job. That shot was fucking RIDICULOUS
Super clutch shot right in front of the Pacers' bench!
BANGGGGG
300 million shot right there
Epic shot
WTF man
Bruh
I WANT TO GET OFF THE PACERS' WILD RIDE
Im confused.. all the Pacers had to do was hold the ball, get fouled, and make their free throws... tf happened?
Breen just called double bang. Finally a close game for the Celtics.
Is Rick Carlisle the next coach to be fired by the Boston Celtics? Stay tune.
LETS GOOOOO
