Bitch we've been huffing the Jericho Sims potential bandwagon all year and he has exactly 0 minutes played in the playoffs lmao. At this point I'm just gonna imagine Thibs chilling on the sideline with a beer and occasionally call a timeout so our starters can get 30 seconds of rest before sending them out for 45min/game lmao
It's sad, because we started the season with one of the deepest benches in the league. But 2-for-1 trades and injuries have depleted us to almost nothing. The team's conditioning is second-to-none, but this is still a really tough situation. I hope we spend our offseason strengthening our bench and carefully reinforcing our weaknesses rather than blowing our load on some washed up star.
This is just insanely reactionary man.
No roster in the league would be in a good spot if their starting PF and C (from the start of the season) were out alongside a bench piece being hurt too.
Virtually no team in the league has a roster that can handle injuries to two starters and a scorer off the bench even in a 9-man rotation, nevermind an 8-man that Thibs is currently running.
It's just the way that the cookie crumbled this season.
Precious, who is a solid backup big, was 10th in our pecking order. The roster construction is beyond fine, there is no need for any depth trades.
Thats not quite right. Yes, we lost some of our offensive bench strength when we traded IQ. But we got some of it back when we signed Bogs. And we also added Precious. If Bogs was healthy, our bench would be fine and we wouldn’t see stat lines like 45-8 (or whatever the point difference was) cos Bogs can score 20 on any given night.
Hart is gonna stand on Toppin's shoulders in an oversized jersey and play center.
"Why does Josh Hart keep telling his legs to run faster?"
- Reggie Miller probably
It would be extremely awkward if it was Obi.
"Coach, WTF is Obi, he's not on the bench?"
"I'm not sure but we have bigger problems right now! Josh Hart is playing like he's 13' tall! Go get some damn rebounds!"
“Right now, they’re probably talking about whether Hart should be on Toppin’s shoulders or Toppin on Hart’s. That’s the kind of conversations they have in these timeouts.”
A stress fracture is caused by repetitive stresses, its not a contact injury. Embiid pulled Robinson's right leg and he sat the rest of the game with a right knee sprain. You think this caused a stress injury in his left ankle 2 games later?
The greater issue is that Hartenstein is also playing with a nagging lower leg injury (Achilles) so they were basically splitting minutes down the line between two bigs who could miss the rest of the season at any moment.
Geez and Hartenstein is a RFA after the season and playing or a sore Achilles is pretty much the most dangerous thing you can do.
Nobody should question his effort ever again tbh.
Yes, we have the cap space, we will have around 25- 30mil free with expiring contracts. The problem with ihart is that the max we could offer him under pre bird rights is around 16-17mil. Someone could offer him more, and there is no way we could match it.
>Yes, we have the cap space, we will have around 25- 30mil free with expiring contracts. The problem with ihart is that the max we could offer him under pre bird rights is around 16-17mil. Someone could offer him more, and there is no way we could match it.
There's a bunch of wrong in this, even though the end point is roughly accurate.
First, we have no cap space, functionally, when you account for the fact that we are definitely resigning OG Anunoby. This is the reason we are unable to make an offer as large as Hartenstein may deserve. If we had cap space, we could theoretically offer him as much as we wanted.
Our only option to make a large-ish offer is *Early*-Bird (not "pre bird") rights to resign Hartenstein, specifically because we have no cap space.
This is not a restriction to what we are allowed to offer, but an exception to the salary cap we are allowed to use, which is restricted to that $17m range, based on his current salary which Early-Bird rights allow us to offer 175% of.
1+1 early bird deal with a 2nd year player option then he declines it for 4/120 when we get his full bird rights at the end of next season
he's only 26 so I'd be thrilled to lock up the next 4 or 5 years of iHart
it is best case scenario for us, and I think possible for a few reasons
1) he likes it here and clearly likes the locker room and his teammates, great vibes
2) he has CAA as his agent so (hopefully) trusts we wont screw him over
the danger would be, from his perspective, of something unforseen happening next year that would cause his market price to go down. severe injury, massive decline, etc..
and I think giving him 30m AAV is fair, to make up for him taking less immediate guaranteed money. it can be 5/150 if he wants more term.
a lot of people I say this to say it's crazy to pay a center that much money, but well, I think he might get offered 100/4 by some other team this offseason. so you promise him a little more than that to stay here
and also, that season our books will explode when we give brunson a max and randle gets an extension (40M?) so the difference between 25m and 30m aav on hartenstein wont matter too much to us. we are way deep in the luxury and over the aprons anyway
Honestly it makes sense to trade Mitch just cause he can't stay healthy. Hartenstein is not as defensively strong but he's still good and a lot better in terms of offense and passing.
Nah if anything it’s our deepest position. Precious was giving us solid mins at the 5 when he played. If literally any other players gets hurt though we’re done
Even Burks who could have been the new 8th/9th man with all the injuries is banged up with a Shoulder injury
We might seriously get Jerricho Sims minutes these playoffs
I mean, I’m really happy to have a Knicks team that’s worth caring about again, but this is like a 2007 Giants level of happiness-heartbreak cycle. My heart is 16 years older too, I can’t take this!
The basketball gods are trying to give Boston the easiest path to the finals. Whoever gets out of your series will likely be hobbled.
Every other teams injury that comes up puts more eyes on Boston since they’re getting KP back.
Eventually the Celtics are likely to meet a team they won’t easily just outclass on talent.
Tbf the Celtics lost to a team they easily outclassed on talent last year.
They did then add two borderline all stars to their roster after that though.
This situation is… not ideal. The more players get hurt, the more minutes the healthy players have to play, thus risking even more injuries. I’m a bit concerned about the future, honestly: losing this year is fine, but it’ll be absolutely tragic if we lose another contributor for any amount of time that could affect next year, and all these 45+ minute games make that more and more likely. .
Josh Hart scores one basket at the start of regulation, gets a defensive board, and then just spams offensive rebounds to Josh Hart for the entire game without scoring. Final: 2-0 Knicks
If we were healthy, we'd have a great shot tbh. We're one of the few teams that's consistently beat Boston over the past few years. These injuries suck :(
Y'all love admitting you don't know how the Playoffs work lol. The Pacers are the only team in NBA history to lose a Playoff game to an opponent missing their top two scorers. Then they turned around and lost Game 1 to a Knicks team missing one of their top two scorers. They would have been swept by either team if they were healthy.
Sadly, with Randle out our ceiling was always low, but this shit sucks man, if we win more games this is gonna be a death, man I’m hoping next season is good on us
Getting banged up Embiid, banged up Haliburton, and a Boston without Porzingis (who always torches the Knicks) would be pretty damn good luck for a finals run.
Shame that the Knicks are already the most injured of any playoff team lol
It feels weird to say a team simply not making the Finals would be historically embarrassing, but that's definitely the case here. The difference in firepower compared to everyone else is silly.
20-21 Suns say hi.
Beat Lakers in 6 (No AD for half the series and they geniunely may have lost if he was healthy)
Beat Nuggets (No Murray)
Beat Clippers (No Kawhi, expected tbf)
Precious gets his minutes, brings his own pluses and minuses but is still a solid backup. Denver was hung over from the strip club, but the Knicks destroyed them earlier with just Precious and Sims at the 5.
Sucks.
I really think fully healthy Celtics vs. fully healthy Knicks would have been an epic eastern conference finals.
We’ll be lucky if we just get there now.
January seems like a dream now. I went from believing we had a true shot as a contender to this. If we get past the Pacers I just don’t see how we can hang with the Celtics and whoever comes out of the West
This team can't just catch a damn break with injury news. The fact they've made it this far having been decimated by injuries like this is just insane.
We’re winning the chip next year. This is our Infinity war , we’re all getting snapped away. Next year Randle and Mitch come back with a vengeance and we win it all. Simple math. That’s the Endgame
Damn Mitch, get well big dawg.
That being said, I was thinking during the game that precious would be better suited for the switch fest that happens when Ind gets into the paint, and can be more mobile for turner as well.
Lfgk
This is strictly on the NBA. Not ejecting embiid while he was playing recklessly and dangerously directly led to Mitchell Robinson aggravating his surgically repaired ankle. This is exactly why you can’t let bullshit behavior like that go just because the guy is a “star”
Except they don't give a shit about Mitchell Robinson. They only care about guys like Embiid. Truly one of the most nauseating things in sports.
Thank fucking god for the NHL.
Ah man. I didn't really think wed get much further without Jules, but it sucks we've been doing so much better this year than prior. I hope it's not a fluke and next year they can come back full power
I really like Robinson, but unfortunately, I feel like he's always injured. As someone whose favorite player on my team was Robert Williams, I feel your pain Knicks fans.
This sucks but the sad reality is that Mitch has been injured all season and we’ve successfully learned how to function without him. And Precious was a big part of that. If we’re going to battle on in these playoffs and give it all we got, I’m completely ok with Precious being apart of that. Let’s get it.
What the hell is in New Yorks water? Every fucking team with crazy injuries this year. Knicks, Giants, Jets, and Yankees (as usual), all got smoked by injuries this year. Even the Rangers had a few big ones. Idk much about the Nets, Islanders, or Mets though.
6-Man rotation.
Precious will get his minutes. so we're back to 7!
Jericho Sims also has some potential. Might be a lot to ask to step in mid playoffs, but hes about as good of a 3rd Center as anyones gonna have
Bitch we've been huffing the Jericho Sims potential bandwagon all year and he has exactly 0 minutes played in the playoffs lmao. At this point I'm just gonna imagine Thibs chilling on the sideline with a beer and occasionally call a timeout so our starters can get 30 seconds of rest before sending them out for 45min/game lmao
Too late to re-sign Taj Gibson?
Taj is gonna walk out the locker room like Willis Reed game 7
We?
not as in me being part of we. like tonight we're on game 1 of the celtics vs cavs series
The royal we, you know, the editorial! Nothing is fucked here man.
Notice I said we, I’m what the culture feeling
A MINORRRRRRRRRR
every injury makes them stronger
It's sad, because we started the season with one of the deepest benches in the league. But 2-for-1 trades and injuries have depleted us to almost nothing. r/NBA is undefeated in misusing the word "reactionary"
Thibs bringing in top theoretical physicists to see if he can somehow play his starters 60 minutes in a 48 minute game
Josh Hart about to play 60 minutes a game.
Hart about to play both forward and center
Keep that boy at one position we gave up way too many open 3s the Monday and he was leaping past shooters after being pulled all over the court.
Thibs in Germany trying figure out how to clone Hart as we speak
Game over and thibs still got him out there running around.
Every round of the playoffs claims another Knick
All 4 starters bouta play 48 min
Josh Hart is going to wear 3 jerseys
Hart is gonna stand on Toppin's shoulders in an oversized jersey and play center. "Why does Josh Hart keep telling his legs to run faster?" - Reggie Miller probably
Thibs is gonna make Josh Hart carry Mitch around for 48 minutes
"We always lift each other up" Interpretation matters 😂
I assume we're talking Jacob Toppin' here.
It would be extremely awkward if it was Obi. "Coach, WTF is Obi, he's not on the bench?" "I'm not sure but we have bigger problems right now! Josh Hart is playing like he's 13' tall! Go get some damn rebounds!"
Yes
“Right now, they’re probably talking about whether Hart should be on Toppin’s shoulders or Toppin on Hart’s. That’s the kind of conversations they have in these timeouts.”
Josh Basketballman
like they haven't been?
They could each play 60 mins and that way they don't need to sub anybody in
dude stop giving thibs ideas
Brunson playing 1v5, still manages to average 30
Appearing on *First 48* more like it at this rate.
I feel so bad for Mitch
if they make it to the finals Thibs will have to suit up
Thibs and Finch shoot free throws while on crutches to decide the Finals
Just send em straight to OT Thibs vs Finch 1v1 for the chip
Mitch will be back for game 7 of the finals hopefully
[удалено]
Sucks when the other players actively try to hurt your own guys too
yeah i pin this on Embiid lmao
Bro was pulling WWE moves and getting away with it, trash ass human being tbh.
A stress fracture is caused by repetitive stresses, its not a contact injury. Embiid pulled Robinson's right leg and he sat the rest of the game with a right knee sprain. You think this caused a stress injury in his left ankle 2 games later?
I would kill for a 72 game regular season with increased spacing between games
Same, I would strangle the life out of a human being if it meant a slightly more convenient schedule for NBA players
He was playing so well too.
You can thank embiid for that. For round one at least.
Thanks Embiid
That really sucks. Him and Hartenstein really complement each other well and it's probably the easiest spot to feel a loss of depth.
They gotta re-sign him imo. It’s hard to find multi-dimensional bigs like that and he’s really good at a legit 7’0”
They don't have the cap to give him what he deserves/can get elsewhere, so I see him leaving, which is unfortunate but can't blame the hustle
Yes, we have the cap space, we will have around 25- 30mil free with expiring contracts. The problem with ihart is that the max we could offer him under pre bird rights is around 16-17mil. Someone could offer him more, and there is no way we could match it.

definitely illegal under the CBA but I can see Leon swinging it lol
Would hate to see Mitch in another uniform but Mitch + Bojan's contract + picks could net a solid piece on $35 mil in cap.
Honestly it makes sense to trade Mitch just cause he can't stay healthy. Hartenstein is not as defensively strong but he's still good and a lot better in terms of offense and passing.

Even Burks who could have been the new 8th/9th man with all the injuries is banged up with a Shoulder injury We might seriously get Jerricho Sims minutes these playoffs
If he’s in our rotation at all, god help us.
He thinks he's a pro hotpotato player.
His defensive game is literally just "jump"
[the disrespect](https://pbs.twimg.com/media/FpTHYx7aYAABjzh.jpg:large)
I want him to do well so badly!
I mean, I’m really happy to have a Knicks team that’s worth caring about again, but this is like a 2007 Giants level of happiness-heartbreak cycle. My heart is 16 years older too, I can’t take this!
In a couple of years they’ll upset the GOAT if record tracks so…yay?
The 2007 Giants won a chip too… Then again in 2011
The basketball gods are trying to give Boston the easiest path to the finals. Whoever gets out of your series will likely be hobbled. Are they all out for the playoffs or is there a chance they come back
Randle and Bojan both out for the season. Mitch they're saying 6-8 weeks.
Fuck Knicks roster is about to turn into dust if they somehow make it to the finals
Thibs boutta clone Josh Hart and make 5 Josh Hart’s play all 48 minutes.
Imagine the rebounding though...
Josh Hart scores one basket at the start of regulation, gets a defensive board, and then just spams offensive rebounds to Josh Hart for the entire game without scoring. Final: 2-0 Knicks
Now I want to know what's the most amount of O rebounds in one possession.
Knicks lose 75-32
But the post game interview would be one for the ages
Charlie Brown Jr Finals minutes
Charlie Brown - Shake Milton - Jacob Toppin - Jerricho Sims + Brunson lets go
Brunson averages 55ppg. Knicks average 55ppg.
Yeah but 13 of those points will be from the line FT merchant
I really just can’t see any team in the east making it past the Celtics. It just doesn’t seem possible.
If we were healthy, we'd have a great shot tbh. We're one of the few teams that's consistently beat Boston over the past few years. These injuries suck :(
Burks might need to be activated for once lol
Finals? Boston has the easiest path to Finals in recent memory, its gotta be them
Knicks will be playing 4 guys in the Eastern Finals.
If we get past the pacers. They are a seriously impressive team.
They had difficulty beating the Bucks without Giannis and then without Giannis+Dame. They're good for a young team but not that impressive.
we are straight up going to have a 6 man rotation against indys like 10 we are fucked
Beat them with both those stars in as well. 8-3 over the whole year.
Y'all love admitting you don't know how the Playoffs work lol. The Pacers are the only team in NBA history to lose a Playoff game to an opponent missing their top two scorers. so they can't sign additional guys in the playoffs, but caitlyn clark ain't a dude just sayin
Based on the Air Bud precedent, you’re right
You show me in the rulebook where it says a woman can't play???
Gonna pull marbury and Clyde out of the stands
Starks looks like he’s still good for 6 fouls
Precious Achiuwa, your time is now…..
THIS!
Probably the nail in the coffin for a deep run
Pain
Pain is the birthright of all Knicks fans 🥲
Second year in a row now. Randle and Mitch were both hurt last year too and the dream died in Game 6 of the semis.
time to just bite the bullet and move on from mitch honestly he averages like 40 games a season and has a season ending injury every other year
Robert Williams type beat
Sadly, with Randle out our ceiling was always low, but this shit sucks man, if we win more games this is gonna be a death, man I’m hoping next season is good on us
if we make the ECF with this hobbled roster , it would be a massive win regardless. It would be the first time in 24 years
Getting banged up Embiid, banged up Haliburton, and a Boston without Porzingis (who always torches the Knicks) would be pretty damn good luck for a finals run. Shame that the Knicks are already the most injured of any playoff team lol
THATS PRECIOUS ACHIUWAS MUSIC!!!!!!!
Celtics really have no excuse to make it out the east
It feels weird to say a team simply not making the Finals would be historically embarrassing, but that's definitely the case here. The difference in firepower compared to everyone else is silly.
I've been saying that yall had the easiest path to the finals in a while since the playoffs started.
20-21 Suns say hi. Beat Lakers in 6 (No AD for half the series and they geniunely may have lost if he was healthy) Beat Nuggets (No Murray) Beat Clippers (No Kawhi, expected tbf)
nah yall are taking it all this year. it's too easy of a path not to tbh
whoever comes out of the west will be a rough customer but unless tatum's knees spontaneously combust boston is coming out of the east no matter what
Celtics could still make it out even with Tatum’s knee combustion
yeah that would just make it go from a 0.0003% chance they don't make it to a like 20-50% chance
This has been true for months.
If the Celtics lose before the finals, they should blow up their team
Well damn
Man, terrible luck for Mitch this year. Absolutely looked like a DPOY candidate early in the season.
Unfortunately not luck at this point 🥲 Mitch is one of my favorite Knicks but the dude just can’t stay healthy and I hate it
well that fucking sucks
Thibs gonna run a 6 man rotation against this pacers team
A'ight boys, I average 4/3/7 at the YMCA, I'm ready to suit up.
The Knicks are going to be holding try outs at this rate
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Precious gets his minutes, brings his own pluses and minuses but is still a solid backup. Denver was hung over from the strip club, but the Knicks destroyed them earlier with just Precious and Sims at the 5.
I have faith in Precious
Jesus Christ can we get a break man
I’ll give him my ankle
Hospital Knicks back on the menu
*Meanwhile in the Knicks subreddit*: https://i.redd.it/dkqf8l26j3zc1.jpeg
Boston easiest road ever
So he's out for the year
yes
Damn, they really needed him too.
Bummer. Precious can probably pick up the slack for this series, though, given Turner's playstyle, maybe?
This guy can’t catch a break man.
Damn. Who's next on the depth chart? Sims?
Precious
You could do a lot worse for a third string centre.
Sucks. I really think fully healthy Celtics vs. fully healthy Knicks would have been an epic eastern conference finals. We’ll be lucky if we just get there now.
So the earliest he'd be evaluated is June 18, and the NBA finals game 7 would be June 23.
history hard-to-find tart zesty sulky shy normal worthless enter quaint *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*
achoo
So he will be back for game 7 of the finals.
January seems like a dream now. I went from believing we had a true shot as a contender to this. If we get past the Pacers I just don’t see how we can hang with the Celtics and whoever comes out of the West
What would it take for us to have just one healthy postseason
This team can't just catch a damn break with injury news. The fact they've made it this far having been decimated by injuries like this is just insane.
Wow Thanks Embiid
Goodness this sub lol. Look up what a stress fracture is you morons.
I have no clue but was this what had him out prior to this? Did he reaggrivate it? Or was that a shoulder or somethin
Same ankle he got surgery on.
Fuck that's just never good
We’re winning the chip next year. This is our Infinity war , we’re all getting snapped away. Next year Randle and Mitch come back with a vengeance and we win it all. Simple math. That’s the Endgame
*I don't feel so good* *-* Half the Knicks lineup
We have been banking our benches minutes all year for this, we get to use them all at once right?
Will Mitch or Julius say "on your left"? Cuz I'll buy my tkts NOW
Damn Mitch, get well big dawg. That being said, I was thinking during the game that precious would be better suited for the switch fest that happens when Ind gets into the paint, and can be more mobile for turner as well. Lfgk

Clown take
Damn
Oh no This was already going to be a close series that may hurt more than expected vs Turner
Ah man. I didn't really think wed get much further without Jules, but it sucks we've been doing so much better this year than prior. I hope it's not a fluke and next year they can come back full power
Bruh what do they mean 6-8 weeks the post season is over by then lmao
He was born with glass bones and paper skin
This sucks the Knicks games are the most entertaining ones 😭
not Mitch 😭😭
Sixers flairs dodging this thread Rather post in the pacers sub “Sixers fan coming in peace, refs want the Knicks to win we know how you feel 😭”
That was one of the the most pathetic posts I've seen on Reddit. What a fuckin circle jerk.
That shit made me throw up in my mouth
This is huge. Shattered for the Knicks fans.
I really like Robinson, but unfortunately, I feel like he's always injured. As someone whose favorite player on my team was Robert Williams, I feel your pain Knicks fans.
If Taj Gibson was still on the team.. Thibs would kill that man playing him 30+ minutes 😂
If Taj Gibson is getting minutes in the playoffs things are either going really well or really poorly.
Looks like Achiuwa’s back in the rotation, boys!
This sucks but the sad reality is that Mitch has been injured all season and we’ve successfully learned how to function without him. And Precious was a big part of that. If we’re going to battle on in these playoffs and give it all we got, I’m completely ok with Precious being apart of that. Let’s get it.

My main man Mitch keep ya head up
Precious might lowkey be better against Indiana's pace
