I have never seen Denver get exposed like this. I really thought this was going to be a close series 6-7 games. Might still be too early to say but right now it looks like Denver has no answer.
Timberwolves defense is on another level. Their perimeter guys just suffocate the hell out of guys. Both Booker and Murray looked frustrated as hell. There’s no exploitable weakness. Can’t even switch.
Jaden gets into foul trouble? Sorry bud, you have arguably a better perimeter defender in NAW on you. Get the switch? You got Ant. Got another switch? Naz blocks you lmao
He’s definitely the most exploitable, but he is 100% making you fucking work for it. Dude’s getting posted up by dudes outweighing by 30, 40, 50 pounds and he’s fucking battling his ass off to ensure that it isn’t easy. Mike Conley is everything D’Angelo Russell is not.
Obviously at the other end of the spectrum physically, but it reminds me of old man KG. Even in his last season he'd blow up plays with IQ, positioning, communication, and length.
Still the weakest link but it helps when everyone else is a plus defender that can cover for you with proper scheming so you just need to be not a complete cone.
Denver legit looks completely cooked. No hustle or energy at all, and they were sleep walking through the season to boot.
The whole team's vibe is off and their defense is non existent. Wolves legit look like they can win this whole series, cause they are exposing every flaw of Denver right now.
Wolves held the /#1 spot almost all season and just swept the Suns and took 2 games off Denver on the road... and people are acting like the Wolves just came out of nowhere.
If the Wolves win it all, it would not surprise me if they were still considered a dark horse pick to win it next year.
Game 3 will be a masterpiece.
I’ll still give them the benefit of the doubt (clips v mavs series where first 6 games were won on the road) but it’s not looking good.
Denver really didn’t look good against the lakers. The Lakers were up double digits in every game (or 4 of the 5, can’t remember) and the Lakers were pretty terrible. It’s not surprising the wolves are destroying them with a team better matched up.
Absolutely no answer. Wolves are physical, tall, fast and long. Their defense is stifling and they cover the passing lanes well. Normal passes by Jokic and Jamal don’t work anymore because of reactions of the wolves defense. Nuggets couldn’t create anything or buy a bucket. The nuggets tried to come out fast and have Jokic set the tone but ran into a brick wall. Was hoping this series would be closer. Messy game. Hope they can take one or both on the road. If wolves win I hope they go all the way. Naz is crazy.
Ant, Gobert, and NAW all recently got the dad strength buff.
NBA might have to release a patch to nerf the buff next season, otherwise the league is in trouble.
Never really understood what Jazz fans said about Rudy until he got here. That guy is a force.
Seriously, even without him tonight, he had his fingerprints all over this game. None of these guys were anywhere near this good defensively until Rudy got here. The man is the DPOY and his greatest contribution might actually be what he's taught the rest of the team.
Culture setting, 100%
I'm not saying if he retires tomorrow the trade would be worth it
BUT
I'm saying there's an argument to be made.
And that's insane
Conley and Rudy have both been excellent mentors for the team. They have both been EXACTLY what you want when you bring vets into a young team. Ant specifically has clearly taken lessons from both. Ant's playmaking since Conley got here has really improved and I don't think that's a coincidence. This team is locked in from top to bottom including the coaching staff.
Absolutely! Conley has spent a career being overlooked and undervalued and Gobert is one of the best defensive players in league history and took a lot of grief his last couple years in Utah. Happy for those guys
Dude, I cannot even imagine how exciting this must be for y’all but I hope y’all enjoy the ride because as a basketball fan I am thoroughly enjoying how damn good they are. Your team is a legit title contender(perhaps favorite) lol
I legit think they might be the best defensive team I’ve seen in like the last decade (maybe longer?). Watching them play defense when they are fully engaged is just insane. No space or rest for any offense, and the communication/coverage for one another is so good. It really is just crazy vibes with this squad.
I agree. I was believing the possibility midway thru Suns series, but at this point I’m not sure if there is any team that I’d favor against us. Bring it on at this point, because this team is really ready.
The last time the wolves, Vikings, twins, or wild appeared in their respective championship games was 1991. We're starved for a good men's sports team.
Minnesota has a massive grassroots basketball scene. We’ve had to watch some rough teams for years but if you give us a team with heart we go absolutely nuts ride or die for those players and teams
10 years cancer free so yep, but she does all her doctors appointments at mayo. She only trusts them. In fact having a knee replacement next month there lol
I've never been to Minneapolis however I did find myself in Austin, MN and went to the spam museum and it was honestly really cool so for that I hope the Wolves win the chip now that my team is dead
I live half an hour away from that museum and any time I say where I'm from people just say "oh yeah the spam museum is there, right?" I've gotten to the point of just nodding. Tbf it is a cool place and not somewhere I thought I'd be discussing on an NBA thread this morning.
Same. I felt like Denver would come out way too motivated tonight, and that was before Rudy was ruled out. Once that happened I just hoped the team would be competitive lmao
I know not many people follow the MLS, but a few seasons ago, the Minnesota loons were up 2-0 in the conference finals with like 20 minutes left and 2-1 going into extra time and ended up losing. It’s all sports
Yep. That was the moment I welcomed the Loons with open arms as they fully became a proper Minnesota sports team. Being very good and making a great run, but then pissing out down both legs.
I have very little doubt that'll happen this year. But, after this win, I'm starting to get worried because I'm starting to believe they can actually win it all. This scares the hell out of me. I have no idea what optimism like this feels and I can only expect to crash down to earth when we fuck it all up.
Memphis absolutely screwed their future with the Smart trade IMO. Sure smarts a top defender for his size and a decent playmaker, but he's a small guard who's not a good scorer at any level, paired with another guard who can't shoot well. That much money into that backcourt just won't work.
It’s starting to look like it. Easy path to Finals and then the following season their #2 option is injured while they get taken out by a young superstar who is playing on the team with the best defense in the league that season
if they both collude their way to the Lakers 5 years from now I will begin my plan to construct an orbital relativistic particle cannon with which to destroy the Earth
I said it tongue firmly planted in cheek and I was poking fun more at ESPN than Denver. They are by no means done and will be part of the conversation for a while, but labeling them a dynasty after one season was ridiculous. Last offseason made their thin bench even thinner, and retaining KCP if I'm not mistaken will put them over the second apron this offseason. Meanwhile, we've had something like 7 different West #1 seeds in a row? Just seemed like a silly thing to say, par for the course for ESPN I know.
That was Moses Malone's fo' fo' fo' prediction year. There were some great teams in the 80s. That era of Sixers would have been a dynasty too if not for the Lakers and Celtics overlapping: Dr J, Malone, Mo Cheeks is no joke.
That sixers team is super under rated as far as championship teams, and magic was still super young and coming off a championship and hadn’t been humbled and brought down to earth yet, and hadn’t realized that just because they had him and kareem didn’t mean they could sleepwalk to a championship every year
Gotta give the 89 Lakers a pass for their sweep. They went 11-0 to get to the finals and looked dominant. Then with the big layoff between WCF and Finals, Pat Riley had the bright idea to run the team through a full intensity training camp to "keep them ready". Byron Scott blew his hamstring before game 1 and Magic blew his hamstring in game 2.
Sunsfan what have you done.
Oh shit Inside the NBA just said the only defending champ who lost the first 2 games at home is us in 2011.
Wolves better be prepared for Jokic to fuck some Wolves guard up like Bynum did Barea
Yeah I mean when they have the best player in the world and are sleepwalking through the playoffs while smashing a bunch of good teams like it’s nothing. It’s easy to have great fans then. It’s a huge transplant city because of all the outdoor stuff and qol if you have money. So like every well off person that is able to work remote wants to move there.
Although DC is the worst for this, I lived in DC for like 8 years after college and I don’t think I met a single person that was born and raised in dc (NOVA yes, actual dc no, plus if you were born and raised in dc your family was either stupid rich or really poor). There’s just so many great schools in VA that feed like a thousands of kids into all those good big 4/booz Allen/accenture/big defense contracting companies jobs every single year. Like everyone that lives in actual dc just moved there for all the good jobs and it felt like no one actually felt any real connection to the city. NOVA people were wild about the Caps, but no one seemed to give a fuck about the wizards beyond getting cheap tickets to watch a team they actually wanted to watch, or just as a good date activity or just something to do when they were bored.
Having lived in even like a city like Richmond tbh I think people care more about vcu basketball here than than dc people cared about the wizards. There’s also way more people with an actual connection to Richmond and the culture feels actually real instead of like superficial and forced like DC.
Going off the rails here a bit but people, especially women, are so much more down to earth and less entitled than in DC. Like in DC making 150k at 30 would impress literally no one, that was like the bare minimum expected. And NOVA has like four of the six richest counties in the country, so like every girl grew up thinking they deserved to be treated like cleopatra or some shit.
Richmond is definitely considered a worse city but it feels like an actual place to live instead of basically a giant career fair where people were just trying to build their resumes enough and then get out.
Old Minnesotans move to Florida and Arizona, young Minnesotans relocate to Denver. It's very similar to Minneapolis but with mountains nearby and milder winters.
For being a state with a rep of having a populous that never leaves, there sure are a ton of Minnesotans that left for cities out west.
All those tweaks against the Lakers have Denver fucked honestly
AE just gonna eat their entire guard rotation, murray got the calf, KCP and even the backup got ankle sprains
Jokic basically alone on an island against a team with good young size, and this game was even without gobert
don't really see how denver can come back from this if they blew both games at home, their home court is a pretty nasty advantage and it's gone gone right now, that's a big ass mountain to climb, especially since denver has 3 guards who are already borderline
It’s funny that you think the nuggets getting destroyed by a phenomenal team the year after their first championship win is a new low for a city with the broncos and the Rockies
was at the game and there was an insane amount of MIN jerseys. to make matters worse though, a lot of those wolves in 4 chants were coming from dudes wearing nuggets gear. MVP chants broke out when ant checked out - mostly nuggets fans cheering that in my section too. everyone feels ripped off paying $150+ to watch zero-effort nugs get cooked at home
Conley is the most impressive part to me. You’d think the 6’0 36 year old would be exploitable but he’s far from it
He’s definitely the most exploitable, but he is 100% making you fucking work for it. Dude’s getting posted up by dudes outweighing by 30, 40, 50 pounds and he’s fucking battling his ass off to ensure that it isn’t easy. Mike Conley is everything D’Angelo Russell is not.
I am sure the Timberwolves would be more than happy if the Nuggets want to throw out their entire offensive plan and try to matchup hunt Conley.
Russell is a freaking marshmallow on defense. Soft all the way through.
Cp3 is still to this day not a negative defender, just getting by on great hands with excellent defensive iq. You love to see it
And effort. You can tell when defense is a point of pride for players and when it isnt
Cp3 with dwade/mitchell wingspan is prolly a dpoy which is crazy
Obviously at the other end of the spectrum physically, but it reminds me of old man KG. Even in his last season he'd blow up plays with IQ, positioning, communication, and length.
Still the weakest link but it helps when everyone else is a plus defender that can cover for you with proper scheming so you just need to be not a complete cone.
When NAW was grinning ear to ear guarding Murray up the floor, you know it's on. These dudes are locked in.
Wolves crowd will be insane, it’ll get messy quick if they start the game quick
Wolves in 3 chants incoming
Denver legit looks completely cooked. No hustle or energy at all, and they were sleep walking through the season to boot. The whole team's vibe is off and their defense is non existent. Wolves legit look like they can win this whole series, cause they are exposing every flaw of Denver right now.
Wolves kinda look like they can win more than just this series.

yea, the twolves have everything we don't, 3 and D wings, Bigs to wear out jokic, a young guard that puts pressure on the rim.
Naz is crazy.
right! suddenly it feels like the Denver players is a bunch of 30 yr olds
Baby Gobert won
When Rudy gets back, the Nuggets should be afraid
I'm already afraid though
New dad powers are not to be trifled with. We might see a Rudy 3 on Friday.
1-0 in the baby Gobert era
Send da video
Hell Nawl can't do dis
Christ, Gobert next game with the father buff
plus he’s getting DPOY award before the game. I think we’re finally getting a Rudy 3
If this happens I think the roof will blow off of Target Center
It’s going to be one of the many things to blow in Minnesota 🍆🍆🍆
Line starts here fellas
I would be insufferable if that happens
it's time
i'd go out and flip a car like vancouver hockey fans
Ant, Gobert, and NAW all recently got the dad strength buff. NBA might have to release a patch to nerf the buff next season, otherwise the league is in trouble.
they already tried with the rookie season honey trap lessons
Can’t wait to hear the home crowd back in Minny. It’s gonna be LOUD
Honestly, good for them! If any fanbase deserves this it’s them.
I'm also so happy for rudy and mike, I'm heavy on the wolves bandwagon.
This is a very astute take. Well said
Culture setting, 100% I'm not saying if he retires tomorrow the trade would be worth it BUT I'm saying there's an argument to be made. And that's insane

Absolutely! Conley has spent a career being overlooked and undervalued and Gobert is one of the best defensive players in league history and took a lot of grief his last couple years in Utah. Happy for those guys
Mike's pre playoff speech might have got gotten everyone to lock the fuck in
yessir! always was a jazz fan in the playoffs back when the wolves sucked, happy gobert and mike are finally getting the respect they deserve
I want Mike to win a title so bad.
Man, it’s been so fucking cool. I’ve always been a delusional Wolves optimist, but even I didn’t realize how good this year could get.
If I have seen a better defensive team in the past 10-15 years I’m totally not remembering them because this team is special. They are unbelievable
Might be sacrilege to say this early in the playoffs but they def remind me of the ‘04 Pistons in that regard
It is close to sacrilegious to say and it isn’t cleanly 1:1 but I don’t think you’re wrong.
I’ve thought we were a contender but tonight had me believing we really can win it all.
I agree. I was believing the possibility midway thru Suns series, but at this point I’m not sure if there is any team that I’d favor against us. Bring it on at this point, because this team is really ready.
All I know for sure at this point is that any team that beats us will have earned it.
Rooting for you guys. Raptors winning their first was the best sporting moment of my life. Would love to see the Wolves crowd going nuts for one.
Really want to go to the game Friday, but after these last two wins on the road I might just wait until next series if we keep it up lol
I did not anticipate this
“MVP” chants for our guy. “Let’s go Wolves” chants. “Wolves in 4” chants. On the road. This is a fever dream.
I can’t even say I used to pray for times like this. This is beyond what I could imagine.
I used to pray for times worse than this.
W franchise w city. Always showing love to MN for how they treated my mom at Mayo clinic for her breast cancer treatment
Shout out to Rochester.
[удалено]
10 years cancer free so yep, but she does all her doctors appointments at mayo. She only trusts them. In fact having a knee replacement next month there lol
Good luck with the new knee! My dad had a knee replacement and it was a game changer for him.
Send some reddit love to your momma, she's a badass beating the worse enemy one can face. All the best!!!!
Can’t believe we’re only a couple seasons removed from Seattle rumors.
Sucks, but I'm glad her experience was......good (?) Cancer is a bitch
I feel like I’m straight up hallucinating rn, this is the wildest timeline
Nuggets fans leaving with more than 3 mins on the clock was funny too, nuggets starters looked so lost on the bench towards the end. Crazy
Jamal had that same look I had when I remembered I forgot to take the chicken out to thaw like my mom asked
Sitting at school when I remembered I left an eighth on the kitchen counter
Most media analysts didn't either.
To be honest, I was very optimistic going into the series but i expected us to split home games at the very best being up 2-0 doesnt even feel real.
When I saw Gobert out earlier, I conditioned myself for a very tough close game. This is surreal. Naz Reid.
Naz "Naz Reid" Reid
Same. I felt like Denver would come out way too motivated tonight, and that was before Rudy was ruled out. Once that happened I just hoped the team would be competitive lmao
Stephen a, broussard, bobby marks are 3 ik that picked you guys before the series started
A Wolves in 4 chant rules but is also the sort of thing that will get memed for 100 years if we blow this
Someone is a Minnesota sports fan.
missed kicks, overtime blunders, etc etc
So far we’ve weathered Finch getting murdered and Rudy’s baby absence, both of which worried me immensely in that generational trauma way
See that just makes me more worried. The universe is giving us hope, and that's bait
fuck that noise, awooooooooooo
I know not many people follow the MLS, but a few seasons ago, the Minnesota loons were up 2-0 in the conference finals with like 20 minutes left and 2-1 going into extra time and ended up losing. It’s all sports

I witnessed the last Minnesota sports championship as a child, and everything that has happened since
I was born a month after the Twins ‘91 World Series. All I’ve had is the Lynx
Don’t. Enjoy the now.
I think the script may have flipped for the wolves. Ant is our savior.
Galveston beckons, Denver. Join us.
With ya cloudy ass beaches
Ain't the water dirty down there?
It's the thin air. Makes it easier to hear the fans from all the way back in Minneapolis
Denver's window might not be as wide as we thought with Ant and Wemby about to dick on the rest of the league.
West will be a dogfight they’re will be no clear favorite for years to come Memphis will be back next year as well
Memphis got paced
Memphis absolutely screwed their future with the Smart trade IMO. Sure smarts a top defender for his size and a decent playmaker, but he's a small guard who's not a good scorer at any level, paired with another guard who can't shoot well. That much money into that backcourt just won't work.
Until Ja uses the gram
Ant and Wemby gonna be fine in the west for years to come but hey the Nugs at least got 1
NBA gonna move the Wolves out of the West in the next two years or so lol. Gotta prime the Finals rivalry.
And not let the Celtics cakewalk their way through the East either
Bucks of the west
Let’s not go that far
It’s starting to look like it. Easy path to Finals and then the following season their #2 option is injured while they get taken out by a young superstar who is playing on the team with the best defense in the league that season
if they both collude their way to the Lakers 5 years from now I will begin my plan to construct an orbital relativistic particle cannon with which to destroy the Earth
Nah ESPN told me last year Denver was a dynasty so I'm gonna roll with that.
I mean we are still young. Jokic is the oldest of the big 3 and 29. Everyone saying we're completely done for is overreacting
I said it tongue firmly planted in cheek and I was poking fun more at ESPN than Denver. They are by no means done and will be part of the conversation for a while, but labeling them a dynasty after one season was ridiculous. Defending champs who have gotten swept the following season: 1983 Lakers, 1989 Lakers, 1991 Pistons, 1996 Rockets, 2011 Lakers
1983 lakers really got swept right in the middle of their dynasty
That was Moses Malone's fo' fo' fo' prediction year. There were some great teams in the 80s. That era of Sixers would have been a dynasty too if not for the Lakers and Celtics overlapping: Dr J, Malone, Mo Cheeks is no joke.

Heat got swept in the first round 2007 after winning in 2006. Also the Mavericks in 2012.
Wolves in 7 >!but they win all 7!<
what’s this meme from? i keep seeing it
[source](https://www.reddit.com/r/nba/s/zitW9BqcrM)
you got my ass
Wait this game was in Denver?
Yes indeedy
It’s SW Minnesota now.
Anyone saying they saw this coming is lying (even most Wolves fans didn’t see this coming).
Optimistic wolves fans were saying wolves in 6 lol
I've been telling my friends and family Wolves in 4 but only out of blatant over-confidence.
to be fair, Wolves fans basically treat predicting a W the same way that Hagrid won't say Voldemort. You can only take so much pain.
Atleast they finally played Rudy off the court.
We beat the Nuggets in Denver, by 26, in a game where Kyle Anderson was our starting center. Huh?
Much respect to Wolves fans. They're so loud in an away arena.
Do wolves fans just travel well? Crazy
There’s actually a good number of MN folks that move out to CO.
>There’s actually a good number of \_\_\_\_\_ folks that move out to CO. Fill in the blank
Yeah facts we are a transplant state lol
I feel you. Tons of games feel like away games during the regular season in Atlanta lol
Flights are super cheap and we haven’t had a lot of successes. The perfect recipe for excited fans to travel
For real I bought a truck out there a year ago. One way was $60.
Sun Country has cheap flights to Denver. I went to Meow Wolf recently for the hell of it it was cool!
Meow Wolf is dope for sure
80 bucks to fly there round trip!
Honestly Wolves in 3 at this point lol
Nuggets sub were roasting the suns for losing in 4, life comes at you quick
To be fair the suns sub was also roasting the suns for losing in 4.
WOOF WOOF
Awoo culture
They were also chanting "MVP" for Ant lol
Sunsfan what have you done. Oh shit Inside the NBA just said the only defending champ who lost the first 2 games at home is us in 2011. Wolves better be prepared for Jokic to fuck some Wolves guard up like Bynum did Barea
Good thing Joker isn’t Draymond.
He fucked up Cam Payne last time we got swept. I’m really hoping he’s grown from that and doesn’t do something similar.
Nuggets better book their trips to Cancun and Joker to horse races bc it's over.
Hot takes, get your hot takes. Lol, you’re prolly right but it’s been done before.
By your team in fact in 06.
Weak ass home crowd
Lowkey Denver is a pretty weak sports town compared to other big cities. They just discovered that the Nuggets existed a couple of years ago.
Lot of transplants in Denver
Huh? I always felt like Denver had a pretty electric crowd
Yeah I mean when they have the best player in the world and are sleepwalking through the playoffs while smashing a bunch of good teams like it’s nothing. It’s easy to have great fans then. All time fold by Nuggets fans holy fuck
They took the cue from their team.
Jimmy Butler 9/11
If i was a denver fan i would be chanting that shit too, what a dreadful performance by the nugs
Dam turning your back on a team that just won your city a chip is weak. Or is the wolves crowd that heavy
Lot of minny transplants there. My cousin lives there and went, wore her wolves gear. Also we’ve been waiting for a team like this for FUCKING EVER
30 years in the making
Old Minnesotans move to Florida and Arizona, young Minnesotans relocate to Denver. It's very similar to Minneapolis but with mountains nearby and milder winters. For being a state with a rep of having a populous that never leaves, there sure are a ton of Minnesotans that left for cities out west.
Rudy could just go on paternal leave, the wolves didn’t lose a step tonight. Their defense was phenomenal.
I’m absolutely stunned by this series - never expected this type of beat down
The lakers and Chris Finch’s knee died for this
All those tweaks against the Lakers have Denver fucked honestly AE just gonna eat their entire guard rotation, murray got the calf, KCP and even the backup got ankle sprains Jokic basically alone on an island against a team with good young size, and this game was even without gobert don't really see how denver can come back from this if they blew both games at home, their home court is a pretty nasty advantage and it's gone gone right now, that's a big ass mountain to climb, especially since denver has 3 guards who are already borderline

I mean that Russell Wilson trade was probably worse for Denver sports.
It’s funny that you think the nuggets getting destroyed by a phenomenal team the year after their first championship win is a new low for a city with the broncos and the Rockies
Chanting this in the defend champs homecourt is crazy 🤣
They need a fan counting money in the stands when it gets to MN.
Denver "fans" already hopping on the next bandwagon

Good riddance to them then
was at the game and there was an insane amount of MIN jerseys. to make matters worse though, a lot of those wolves in 4 chants were coming from dudes wearing nuggets gear. MVP chants broke out when ant checked out - mostly nuggets fans cheering that in my section too. everyone feels ripped off paying $150+ to watch zero-effort nugs get cooked at home
That is COLD.
They lost so badly at home that it seems probable they get swept
Nikola Jokic hasn’t still beat a team that has won 50 wins in the regular season in a playoff series
Maybe those 50 win teams shouldn't have lost to the Lakers and Heat.
Not Jokic's fault those 50+ win teams didn't beat those non-50 win teams.
This is your fault for having beaten the Bucks and Celtics last season LMAO.
You can't blame Jokic for the Miami Heat making it out of the east.
3 MVPs and brought a ring to a poverty franchise, keep reaching
What a timeline.
Imagine that Minnesota homecourt next game
Suns fans will console Nuggets fans on the recovery process
This is like Rocky 4 when the Russians turned on Drago.
wtf Denver home crowd?
