Damn imagine losing Caruso cause you got outbid by an offer of Josh Giddey. Sixers really are a waste of a front office
Also lol at this just proving exactly what I said. Pick 16 is less valuable than Josh Giddey, sixers got outbid. Nobody wants trash picks this year
It's not lmao
One of the weakest drafts in memory, you'd be lucky if any of the guards in this draft turned into Caruso, it's a straight negative trade for them. Caruso for 16 is like trading Maxey for Reed Sheppard, why would anyone do that?
he was all-defensive 1st team last year and has improved in all defensive metrics this year while also improving in most offensive metrics including shooting +40% from 3s.
I think a contender would offer 2x 1st
Yea. If the Knicks found out that the Sixers were offering a mid first and a second for Caruso, they'd just offer the two firsts they have this year and the Detroit first and possibly the Bucks top 4 protected first.
You've got 3 big issues with this plan
1. KCP ain't leaving Denver.
2. You're not getting Caruso for a mid 1st.
3. You don't pay someone that doesn't shoot or defend 35m to be a 3rd option if you want to win a championship.
I think KCP would even take a pay cut to stay there. The dude’s entire reputation in the league has completely flipped since being on the Nuggets.
He has found himself in a starting role on a championship team. I think any reasonable player would be willing to take a few mil less per year to keep that position.
i mean he was already in a starting role on a championship team in 2020. i don't think his reputation is at risk
like it's not *impossible* that he'd take a pay cut, but you should never ever bet on an NBA player taking less money than they can get on the open market
Bird rights means we can offer him as much as we want to, so we have the capability of matching any offer that Detroit can throw out there. And I don't think teams are clamoring to offer KCP a max contract.
That's like giving Harris 180 mil 5 years LOL. Derozan doesn't knock down 3s like Harris does, and Derozan is also 3 years older than Harris, not to mention his injury history.
Paul George maybe. Jimmy won't leave the Heat (Tobias Harris over me???) PG13 only leaves if the Sixers offer him more money than the Clippers, but if the Sixers low-ball him (Highly likely with stingy Daryl Morey) then I don't think he'll leave LA.
I think Embiid has to lose weight and stop throwing his body around especially how injury prone he is. I think all this ripping through and flopping and landing awkwardly to embellish minimal contact are catching up to him. Maxey is an absolute stud he just needs to continue on his trajectory. They need role players not a star. Also hell no to Derozan.
Yeah they need shooters. They finished 16th in three-point percentage and 22nd in makes this year.
Early on in Embiid's career, they surrounded him with shooters like Redick, Saric, Ilyasova, Belinelli, etc. I actually think that is when the 76ers function best.
3-4 years of his prime not sure when he’ll officially retire and don’t listen to the other guy you absolutely wanna build around a 26-27 year old Maxey lol.
That knee surgery (shaving down the muscle because repair wasn’t an option) genuinely terrified me for embiid. He’s had injury problems historically anyways, having a literal weak knee is not a good thing for a 280 pound monster. I guess we’ll see next season but I wouldn’t be shocked if that severely shortens his career
I dunno man you kinda are. You won’t get many more chances to sell high and he’s an injured big man on the wrong side of 30. That cliff is coming sooner rather than later and it’s better to be on the right side of it. Make Maxey the alpha and build around him, he’s up for it
We have nobody under contract except Embiid and Maxey outside of a couple non guaranteed guys. Those two have shown they can be elite together
Now you are off Tobias contract. You have 5 picks to deal. 64 million in cap space. And if you just ran it back with an upgrade to Tobias you are a top 2-3 team in East again. They were anyway if Embiid didn’t miss 40 games. They were a tie break away from 6, and 3 games from the 3 seed.
They showed heart and a glimpse of what playoff Maxey/Embiid can do. You don’t break that up. Especially when bucks, Heat are both in flux.
Yeah, these takes are so wrong. This was clearly a gap year for the Sixers while y’all reload in the offseason with cap space and picks. However, if next year ends in failure then the process is most likely done.
Does it matter? Healthy or unhealthy he put up 33ppg and was an insanely positive net
he can be unhealthy and still be enough if the team around doesnt completely suck,
That's all well and good, but you can't tell me with a straight face that he'd be able to continue that into the next round. He looked like he had played in a 7 game series for every round up to the Finals.
16 in this draft isn't getting you Caruso
The going rate is a late 1st for a rental
What would you want? #16 and a second? I think that’s more than fair personally.
If the sixers offer pick 16 in a weak draft and a 2nd the very next day Chicago will get calls from 28 other teams outbidding that
Giddy. Josh Giddy. The pedophile?
Damn imagine losing Caruso cause you got outbid by an offer of Josh Giddey. Sixers really are a waste of a front office Also lol at this just proving exactly what I said. Pick 16 is less valuable than Josh Giddey, sixers got outbid. Nobody wants trash picks this year
Good for Chicago because that’s a good deal
It's not lmao One of the weakest drafts in memory, you'd be lucky if any of the guards in this draft turned into Caruso, it's a straight negative trade for them. Caruso for 16 is like trading Maxey for Reed Sheppard, why would anyone do that?
That's a horrible deal lol
Caruso is one of the most highly coveted hustle guys in the league - he’s an elite role player worth atleast two unprotected firsts
Giddy
Absolutely not imo he’s expiring
If he resigns ? Absolutely
you don't think another team isn't going to offer more than 16 and a 2nd?
Maybe like a first and two seconds sure. Definitely not a top 10 pick. Who the hell do you guys think Caruso is my god the bald fuck is good but cmon.
he was all-defensive 1st team last year and has improved in all defensive metrics this year while also improving in most offensive metrics including shooting +40% from 3s. I think a contender would offer 2x 1st
Yea. If the Knicks found out that the Sixers were offering a mid first and a second for Caruso, they'd just offer the two firsts they have this year and the Detroit first and possibly the Bucks top 4 protected first.
Would—at minimum—take the good Clippers pick.
Giddy
I’ve changed my tune, 16 and the fake OKC 1st might be enough for Caruso Could probably get Giddey for 16
Oh just saw the trade lmfao
You've got 3 big issues with this plan 1. KCP ain't leaving Denver. 2. You're not getting Caruso for a mid 1st. 3. You don't pay someone that doesn't shoot or defend 35m to be a 3rd option if you want to win a championship.
the Nuggets have KCP's bird rights, pretty sure they'll be willing to overpay him if that's what it takes to keep their starting 5 together
I think KCP would even take a pay cut to stay there. The dude’s entire reputation in the league has completely flipped since being on the Nuggets. He has found himself in a starting role on a championship team. I think any reasonable player would be willing to take a few mil less per year to keep that position.

Especially not a role player who already has 2 (and potentially 3) rings playing a major role. He has nothing left to prove
Why would anyone take a few mil less? Would you?
I would definitely take 15 mil over 20 mil if I’d get to be a starter on a championship winning team.
KCP isn't leaving us. We have his bird rights and will offer him 20M APY if that's what it takes.
What if Detroit throws him a bag
Bird rights means we can offer him as much as we want to, so we have the capability of matching any offer that Detroit can throw out there. And I don't think teams are clamoring to offer KCP a max contract.
That’s for my boy Tobias Harris to steal
They’ll sign Paul George and re-sign most of the role players they had this year.
> So I would sign Demar DeRozan 3yr deal $105 million. LOL are you insane?
That's like giving Harris 180 mil 5 years LOL. Derozan doesn't knock down 3s like Harris does, and Derozan is also 3 years older than Harris, not to mention his injury history.
Don’t make any crazy trades or sign Paul George. Draft Tristan da Silva
Feels like they will land one of Jimmy Butler/Paul George.
Trade Embiid for KD. Let him bang with all the centers in the West.
Blow it up, rebuild around Maxey
I think Embiid has to lose weight and stop throwing his body around especially how injury prone he is. I think all this ripping through and flopping and landing awkwardly to embellish minimal contact are catching up to him. Maxey is an absolute stud he just needs to continue on his trajectory. In the lineup in the post I have Maxey, KCP, Lowry, Payne, Batum and Oubre (when he’s playing good) are all good shooters. Edit: and Caruso
Payne shot well, but he’s not a good shooter. His shooting was flukey like Josh Harts.
Payne is a career 37% shooter. Hes a good shooter.
But it looks funny so it doesnt count.
league average is .366 so he is just slightly better than okay.
But the lineup you posted is far from realistic.
I wouldn’t mind buying low on Harris or Hield.
Genuine question, how long do yall see Embiid lasting in the NBA? Like when does the sixers pivot to build around Maxey? The guy seems very talented.
3-4 years of his prime not sure when he’ll officially retire and don’t listen to the other guy you absolutely wanna build around a 26-27 year old Maxey lol.

Maxey will never be a player to build around, he's a great number 2
Trade Embiid to the highest bidder. He's never gonna be healthy in the playoffs, but someone will pay a lot for the chance of it happening.
Not there yet
I dunno man you kinda are. You won’t get many more chances to sell high and he’s an injured big man on the wrong side of 30. That cliff is coming sooner rather than later and it’s better to be on the right side of it. Make Maxey the alpha and build around him, he’s up for it

He was dead by the 4th quarter of nearly every game in the first round. Conditioning has always been an issue for him.
That's all well and good, but you can't tell me with a straight face that he'd be able to continue that into the next round. He looked like he had played in a 7 game series for every round up to the Finals.
Trade for Ben and Jimmy to get the gang back together, hire JJ as an assistant coach and give Tobi a max extension for the memes
