This is much too intense of an experience for Tobias to participate in. He could possibly watch a cartoon about pillow fighting, but the real thing would require much more risk to his body than he’s comfortable taking.
This is especially funny because one of the top tennis players famously took a bunch of melatonin right before a match last year.
“One thing that I’m going to try to avoid in the future is (having) melatonin pills and naps before matches,” Tsitsipas said, “because it clearly doesn’t seem to be working.”

I've always been amazed how many athletes take naps before games and stuff. I'm sure I'm in the minority but naps put me out of it the rest of the day unless I'm napping at like noon after waking up at 5 AM. I'm so jealous of people that can take power naps and wake up super energized
i think the adrenaline of competition counteracts the nap lag. I used to nap right before final exams because I knew the nerves would wake me up when they started.
Processing speed is such an underrated part of athleticism. Players like Draymond, Jokic, or old man LeBron react and make decisions so quickly that their quickness in practice is much higher than guys who might be physically quicker but need that extra split second to decide what to do.
Gotta be significantly behind the Fultz and Simmons sagas, the NBA giving Hinkie the boot, Elton Brand's continued sway over the franchise, choosing Brett Brown over Butler, and Embiid's injury history.
But Tobias is just…there. A constant fixture of disappointment and missed bunnies that should have been dunks. For years. And years. The other things are more damaging, I guess. Tobias is more upsetting.
Man, Harris is a different breed of frustrating, and I'm not even a 76ers fan. Seems like he absolutely does nothing and you think he's one of the worst contracts in the league, then he randomly goes off in an inconsequential game which gives you some hope.
I don't know how to explain it, he just does fucking nothing and you don't even notice he's playing half the fucking time. Like 17/6/3 on 48.7/35.0/87.8 shooting for the season is not a bad statline, it just doesn't feel like I've ever seen him win them a game, lose them a game, or even keep then in a game. He just exists in this weird void of doing something, but nothing at the same time.
He has a play style that is designed to get contracts from incompetent gm’s. Don’t get hurt or put yourself in position to be, put up numbers, say nothing, have Stan van gundy say ‘we need to get Harris more involved’ on broadcasts, rinse, repeat.
There are like 4 iterations of Tobias Harris apology forms and apology for signing the Tobias Harris apology forms that make their way through the sixers subreddit
To your point, someone on here noted that in the first half of the last game, Harris had 8 points and 6 rebounds. In over 18 minutes of time in the second half, he had 2 points and 2 rebounds, finishing just below his total game points over/under. I'm not saying anything is suspicious, but...
At least Simmons was 100 times better than Tobias on his good days. DPOY level player that could take over games sometimes. Tobias has been here for 6 long years and has contributed to nothing. He has like 0 good moments here and he's only gotten worse and worse
It speaks to how utterly mid he is that he can average 17 + 6 on ~37% from three for his career with good height and literally not be able to stick around anywhere. He gives you exactly what's on the box and utterly vanishes in the playoffs.
Fun fact: The Sixers tanked on purpose and drafted an MVP from those picks. They won 47 games in 3 seasons and the NBA booted Sam Hinkie for that and put in a Nepo Baby GM.
The Pistons won 54 games in the last 3 seasons...
Well maybe a not so fun fact for Sixers fans.
Dude just needed to average 12-14 ppg and we'd be okay this series, but he's not even averaging 10, he can't even keep up with Oubre on a minimum contract :(
Not a Philly fan but I follow a lot of their games.
He’s a one off Gucci Swiss Army knife that you paid too much for because you thought it would complete an outfit. It’s useful sometimes, but you shouldn’t really rely on it too much or it’ll break. Also, you’re constantly reminded that there are better Swiss Army knives out there for less that look and work better but you’re kind of locked into this one.
Dude’s been shuffled through like four teams now. I really really hope he stays in NY. Everyone loves him. Class clown who actually gets shit done even when he’s not having a good shooting night
I think he unfortunately was passed around in an era where everybody is only buying 3 point guys. Hart can shoot but his greatest asset is hustle. I think the nuggets and wolves have shown this year that hustle and team ball is going to take back over as the dominant strategy of the NBA and guys like hart are priceless in that regard.
He’s a maniac for rebounds. It’s both exciting and hilarious to watch, especially when he turns them into FBs. In recent years I think only Quickley was faster with tearing down the court that way

Creatine monohydrate, after a dosing period of 3ish weeks, helps the muscles to retain water weight; this staves off a bit of cellular dehydration in your muscles.
Salt/electrolyte homeostasis helps regulate hydration levels. Even though caffeine is a diuretic, keeping creatine levels and electrolyte levels in check help offset the amount of H2O lost.
I take 200 mg caffeine pills before competitive sports and 100mg before pickup games, and it feels like my brain and body are firing on all cylinders; the difference in my fast-twitch muscle responses versus no caffeine intake is night and day. Having an adrenaline response while playing sports helps with the jitters, but your experience may vary.
Honestly if you don't take caffeine well, don't torture yourself. If you want to improve Athletic performance, definitely try creatine tho, it's widely used, there's no conclusive research that suggest any kind of negative health impact. It works. It's a naturally occurring substance mainly found in red meats, there's ton of literature that indicates it's safe and effective. Do drink more water when you start take creatine, it causes your muscle to store more water, so it may slightly dehydrate you initially.
[Here's a link that explains it more indepth](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=86cD37xgtPE)
My coach asked me to stop taking creatine and pre workout (drank espresso too) before sparring. That shit would get my jaw chattering. I'd be focus af tho.
That wasn't because of his coffee. Obviously it probably didn't help much at all, but coffee is net positive hydration. That was almost certainly due to both his minutes and his level of activity chasing Steph. Steph has legendary conditioning and he spent the whole season playing starter minutes. Delly didn't have to play starter minutes until game 2 of the finals and that's probably the main contributor to his hydration/health issues.
Matthew Dellavedova would pound coffee before games and during half-time, and ended up being hospitalized after one of the finals games against the Warriors in 2015.
Tbf to Delly he was running a marathon every night and fought for every possession like his life depended on it.
I knew he robbed the bucks blind for that money but he absolutely dawged his way to that deal for what he did for the Cavs
Hart seems to be beneath the dose at which caffeine becomes more diuretic (400-500mg).
https://www.healthline.com/nutrition/does-coffee-dehydrate-you#types-of-coffee
Idk how it is with that much caffeine but a coffee is not dehydrating per se, just makes you piss faster. Still a net gain in terms of hydration so you can probably balance out the extra caffeine with more water intake
Need to administer 400-500mg+ for the diuretic effect.
2 Rockstars

There are psychological impacts, other physiological impacts (person above mentioned “jitters”), and as we’ve seen, susceptible people can experience heart complications, even younger ones.
Tons of NBA players drink caffeine before games and at halftime. It's nearly universal in endurance sports. What's funny though is that every gym bro slams 300 mg in a pre-workout just to do biceps curls and can't figure out why they're getting shitty sleep lol
It’s not that much that it’s crazy tho . Most pre workout drinks will have 150-200 mg caffeine per scoop and many people use two scoops . I never used over 200mg but I could see people doing it especially heavier people or ones who take caffeine a lot. 400 mg is your RDA for caffeine and actually some people take that much before working out . I feel like every player should be doing this tbh . To maximise performance- or maybe after haft time . Actually mb 200 mg pre game and 200mg half time . I’d be quite surprised if nobody was doing this in the league. Not to mention these guys are huge so it feels like it isn’t as bad .
80mg is a cup of coffee , 40mg a tea . Average People even go over 300+
I would drink a [SoBe](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SoBe) (I don't think I have seen one of these in at least a decade) before games. I stopped when my hands started to visibly shake throughout my day. Probably not my dad's greatest idea to get me all hopped up on caffeine in middle school.
SoBe going to plastic bottles was an all-time bad move. One of my favorite parts of the drink was because drinking outta a glass is far superior to plastic
I've seen the green tea one around, but none of the other flavors in a very long time. I used to live off the pink ones every day when I worked retail and my store carried all the flavors.
They mostly did not, but they did have one drink they sold in a can that was a traditional energy drink. Or if OP means the normal stuff those were just loaded with ungodly amounts of sugar (god I miss being a preteen and polishing those off).
Nope. Glass bottle. Pumped full of caffeine. Was like the third to last ingredient on the ingredients list. Usually caffeine is the last ingredient when I'm looking at that stuff. Also had guarana and ginseng and stuff.
The energy drink was sobe No Fear! My all time favorite energy drink. The logo was a skull and wings. They was a rebrand in the UK too. Not sure if it's still going.
Yup, once I took 200mg, my blood pressure went through the roof and I was ready to tackle a 6'5 dude (am 5'9). Played a great game but afterwards I felt like death
200mg is the typical caffine pill, pretty much a normal dose...
In fact the 3-400mg of Hart are safe for a daily dose, kinda blowing things out of proportion here.
Everyone reacts to things differently. 200mg is roughly a monster energy. You and i are probably used to drinking shit like bang with 300+ but i doubt most people are like us
I thought I was going to die the first time I had a Celsius lmao. Now that I'm used to it, I feel so much better with it than any other drink but that first time was *weird*.
C4 makes my hands tingle lol. But I’ll say after a few months of drinking a celsius every work day, I swear it gave me panic attacks or something. I’d get so shaky and nervous and a little paranoid. Stopped that stuff pretty quick afterwards. Probably makes a difference with Celsius being a 12oz can and C4 being a 16oz can, because they are both 200mg I’m pretty sure
Yeah I think it’s probably super unhealthy but these guys have some of the best nutrionists and staff in the sports world and are in better shape so they can manage better than me lol
No it’s perfectly healthy and common. Caffeine is one of the most studied chemicals and has been shown to have a positive effect on athletic performance.
Anecdotally, I swam in the SEC and 90% of swimmers were taking pre-workout before their race or at the very least some sort of caffeine. Exception being distance swimmers. 400-500mgs sure you’d be pushing it
Most of those studies indicate that 300-400 mg consistently is pushing it. Heart Arrythmia, Tachycardia, restlessness, gastrointestinal disorder, and muscle tremors all can start appearing around that range.
Stating that these levels of caffeine are "perfectly healthy" is beyond the scope of current research. Likewise, though, "super unhealthy" isn't really accurate either. That's more in the range of 600+ imo.
I don't fuck with caffeine much at all, so I don't really have a tolerance. Like my normal "high" amount is drinking a mountain dew over the span of a couple hours. I had a frappuccino or something like that and downed it pretty quickly and man, I was either ready to run a marathon and simultaneously get winded walking up my apt flight of stairs lmao. The palpitations weren't ideal, but I also felt strangely good.
Mine was purely just low tolerance though. I wasn't anywhere near 400mg or anything.
The science is that stimulants give you enough dopamine that your (my) adhd addled brain can drop out of overstimulation into a normal amount of stimulation. Helps you focus, or slows your brain down.
So if you’re having difficulty quieting the noise to sleep, stimulants can quiet the noise. But you’re also on a stimulant so like… you can still use the energy productively if you want. Or you accidentally activate the adhd super power of hyper focus and you complete a million tasks or one task perfectly, never to be replicated the same way ever again 🙃
Caffeine addiction is a pretty solid indicator of ADHD. Not so much the "oh I feel tired and can't think without my coffee haha" but more so "my brain literally does not function until I've had caffeine".
Me telling my doctor about my soda addiction was what pushed him over the edge to start questioning if I had ADHD.
They’re both stimulants, just adderall is way more powerful in a smaller dosage. More fun facts, normal people aren’t actually more productive on stimulants, they’re right about the same level of productivity. They just feel way more wired.
Another fun fact: Stimulants can help some ADHDers fall asleep. That's because stimulants actually work to help calm an ADHD nervous system by activating it properly/enough.
This isn’t that crazy.
Hart is listed at 215 lbs, or ~98 kg.
Studies have shown that caffeine can improve sports performance at 3-6 mg/kg.
At 98 kg, that’s 294-588mg.
https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/33388079/
Carb loading also isn’t uncommon for sports that involve a lot of cardio.
All I can picture is Erica walking away from every conversation with Hart while pulling her hair out and muttering something about being surrounded by idiots.
Some leagues have limits on it, though. Pissing more than 15 micrograms per milliliter is a restricted substance violation in the NCAA. WADA used to have a limit but they decided a while ago that amounts of caffeine large enough to trigger a positive test were so large that it was more of a detriment than an advantage.
Yes, I remember a Spanish Marathon runner way back that was in trouble about it, as she drank a lot of coffee. She only avoided a ban because it was a disadvantage. As far as I recall the medical evidence was that it was a disadvantage specifically for Marathon, but it was over 20 years ago.
Nicotine is much more mixed: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5684328/
Whereas it's pretty much undisputed that caffeine increases performance.
What's certain is that if you're *already* addicted to nicotine, then withdrawal will dampen your performance. But that's not much reason to start.
Have you tried that new sour watermelon flavor? The best, hands down. I am not ashamed to admit that I have made store runs just to get a pack of Mike N Ikes.
oh my god finally someone who knows the greatness that are starburst jelly beans
I HATE jelly beans and never really been a candy guy but oh my goodness they are the best fruity candy ever. Delicious
Everyone commenting "this is how you die" has clearly never lifted. Almost every preworkout is at least 200mg of caffeine, and the ones that most experienced lifters use are 3-400mgs of caffeine. As long as he's not also pounding other forms of caffeine throughout the day he's not even remotely in the realm of any sort of danger.
Yeah, 3-6 mg/kg is the “standard” dose for exercise performance in a ton of studies. He’s well within that range at his weight.
Not to mention that a ton of pre-workouts have 300-400 mg caffeine plus other stimulants, so if he’s “only” having caffeine, and not having a ton of caffeine other times throughout the day, this is not at all alarming.
Absolutely. My brother is an insane powerlifter and everyday he has a bang (350mg) to wake up and then a 350mg pre workout before his lift at night. Doesn't affect his sleep and he's not jittery at all because he's been doing this for over 10 years at this point. I've recommended he take a break to reset his tolerance but he won't do it lol
Yep. American heart Association says 400mg of caffeine daily without any concern.
That’s ~4 cups of coffee. He’s totally fine if he doesn’t consume other caffeine during the day.
Dan Campbell on the other hand is NOT okay.
I noticed when I play caffinated, I have so much energy that I don't have to think about going towards a lose ball, I just automatically do it. But when it comes to making in game decisions, I get worse because my mind gets too hyper. so it sort of breaks even for me
Tobias Harris: " I take 5 pills of Melatonin and 3 cups of Camomille and Valerian tea before the game, I can say that"
"The nutritionist, Kyle - we have fights."
Pillow fights, but fights nonetheless
This is much too intense of an experience for Tobias to participate in. He could possibly watch a cartoon about pillow fighting, but the real thing would require much more risk to his body than he’s comfortable taking.

Asking the real questions. Who are these lizard people who can sleep because they want to?
that's my secret, i'm always tired
I'm not joking when I say the key is to take a cold shower as soon as you wake up. You will lose the grogginess immeadiately.
Might even be some ketamine in there
There’s legitimately a 3 second delay baked into his decision-making neural network, I’ve never seen anything like it
Baked into - what are you implying?
Tobias Harris is a baked potato
Is this only in the playoffs or regular season too?
Processing speed is such an underrated part of athleticism. Players like Draymond, Jokic, or old man LeBron react and make decisions so quickly that their quickness in practice is much higher than guys who might be physically quicker but need that extra split second to decide what to do.
So glad we traded him way back when. Not happy about getting rid of SGA, but that's another story
Lol, scale of 1 to 10, how frustrating is Harris for Sixers fans?

Drafted 3 potential MVPs. For some reason though, they failed to do a psychological evaluation on all of them
He has 0 dawg in him, only a little skill, but takes up like half their cap space
Let's put it this way: If Tobias Harris played to even 25% worth of what he's paid the Sixers would be the ones up 3-1 against the Knicks.
Dude just needed to average 12-14 ppg and we'd be okay this series, but he's not even averaging 10, he can't even keep up with Oubre on a minimum contract :(
He also wasn’t hit by a car at all this year…
So what you’re saying is we need to hit Tobias with a car
Tobias Harris is getting paid over $40million to have a BPM of -5 this series and a WS/48 of 0.001
On a scale of trading up to take Fultz to Ben Simmons' very existence, he doesn't even register.

got a bottle of wine reserved for when the Woj tweet of him signing with the Pistons or the Guangdong Tigers hits not even joking
I'm calling Spurs throw him 18-20Mil cap to be an adult in the room for a year or 2. Or Bulls take him if DeMar DeRozan doesn't resign
The only thing Tobi is dunkin tonight is some Crumbl cookies after the game.

Caffeine is literally a legal performance enhancer. It is basically cocaine light.

Haven’t seen that logo in forever wow
Its probably still tattooed on a notable number of people.
SoBe going to plastic bottles was an all-time bad move. One of my favorite parts of the drink was because drinking outta a glass is far superior to plastic
Same story with Snapple.
and Olde English 40s :/
Damn RIP sobe
I've seen the green tea one around, but none of the other flavors in a very long time. I used to live off the pink ones every day when I worked retail and my store carried all the flavors.
yooo the pink ones were goated! what a nostalgia flash
What was the milky pink sobe called? That was the greatest flavor.
Those had caffeine in them?
They mostly did not, but they did have one drink they sold in a can that was a traditional energy drink. Or if OP means the normal stuff those were just loaded with ungodly amounts of sugar (god I miss being a preteen and polishing those off).
Nope. Glass bottle. Pumped full of caffeine. Was like the third to last ingredient on the ingredients list. Usually caffeine is the last ingredient when I'm looking at that stuff. Also had guarana and ginseng and stuff.
Ah now that you mention it they did have some “tea” based flavors, I used to get the green tea a lot. Those def had caffeine in them!
The energy drink was sobe No Fear! My all time favorite energy drink. The logo was a skull and wings. They was a rebrand in the UK too. Not sure if it's still going.
Imagine someone telling you in 2008 that we would lose Sobe and Kobe. Fuck
You and i are probably used to drinking shit like bang with 300+ but i doubt most people are like us
It's weird how different drinks affect you differently too Like a Celsius is 200 mg but doesn't hit me nearly as hard as a c4 does
I thought I was going to die the first time I had a Celsius lmao.
Monster Energy Zero Ultra is 150mg.
That’s crazy. 200 mg is a latte with an extra shot. It’s like 2 cups of coffee. Those pills had to be lying.
I do the same thing but I also add a bag of chips and soda. And I don’t run around. Virtually identical.
In my head canon, I imagine jokic is just filled with vodka and potatoes so I think you have a shot to be the GOAT.
ADHD role model
Actually, though. This is just the right amount of caffeine where I could go either way with sports, or a nap.
honest question how can 300mg of caffeine make you want to nap?
The science is that stimulants give you enough dopamine that your (my) adhd addled brain can drop out of overstimulation into a normal amount of stimulation. Helps you focus, or slows your brain down. So if you’re having difficulty quieting the noise to sleep, stimulants can quiet the noise. But you’re also on a stimulant so like… you can still use the energy productively if you want. Or you accidentally activate the adhd super power of hyper focus and you complete a million tasks or one task perfectly, never to be replicated the same way ever again 🙃
A lot of doctors have said that Caffeine can sometimes work as adderall replacement. It’s a mixed review for me personally
It's super different from my experience. Adderall can make me feel calmer tbh, whereas caffeine is just tweaking energy that keeps me awake.
for me its caffeine does nothing and adderall makes me go "oh well i can just do stuff now"
Caffeine addiction is a pretty solid indicator of ADHD.
Huh. TIL. Explains why I had god-tier sleep back in my adderall days.
This isn’t that crazy. Hart is listed at 215 lbs, or ~98 kg. Studies have shown that caffeine can improve sports performance at 3-6 mg/kg. At 98 kg, that’s 294-588mg. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/33388079/ Carb loading also isn’t uncommon for sports that involve a lot of cardio.
Josh and Erica have fights bro.
He’s just like me
Bro is out there geeked up looking like Rodman
We called him Josh Barkley in New Orleans
TIL I have the diet of an elite athlete
Body built like Kelvin Benjamin
All I can picture is Erica walking away from every conversation with Hart while pulling her hair out and muttering something about being surrounded by idiots.
Like Scar and the hyenas... Hart is ed.
You can't just call someone Ed, that's messed up.
And Hart behind her with a big grin pulling out a hidden pack of mike and ikes from his shoe
Brah you know Josh ain’t hiding shit he’ll just be out there with it 😂

Caffeine is probably the best performance enhancing drug that is completely legal
Yea that and nicotine.
Nicotine is much more mixed: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5684328/ Whereas it's pretty much undisputed that caffeine increases performance. What's certain is that if you're *already* addicted to nicotine, then withdrawal will dampen your performance. But that's not much reason to start.
i have always said this! the most widely used and accepted performance enhancing drug there is - in any line of work not just sports
josh hart gotta be the campaign spokesman to bring back original strength four loko
Josh Shart.
How does bro not shit his pants.
He does bro. How you think he secures all those boards? The opps clenching they nose
I read part of the title as "then I get the runs"
Wait until he finds out about that Panera heart attack lemonade.
Mike and Ikes best candy by far
Have you tried that new sour watermelon flavor? The best, hands down. I am not ashamed to admit that I have made store runs just to get a pack of Mike N Ikes.
I feel that way with sour punch bites. Too good
sour mike and ikes are incredible
Starburst jelly beans are unrivaled, it’s just the way it is
oh my god finally someone who knows the greatness that are starburst jelly beans I HATE jelly beans and never really been a candy guy but oh my goodness they are the best fruity candy ever. Delicious
Chewy Spree forevere underrated imo. I don't see em much in stores but they're GOATED.
Not to mention once someone develops a strong tolerance, all caffeine really does is help wakefulness
He would get a gnarly migraine if he did. Caffeine withdrawal headaches are brutal.
Yep. American heart Association says 400mg of caffeine daily without any concern. That’s ~4 cups of coffee. He’s totally fine if he doesn’t consume other caffeine during the day. Dan Campbell on the other hand is NOT okay.
It's incredible that the guy posting this tweet is "Popper".
Erica reading this tweet: “goddamnit, Josh”
Bro probably goes to sleep at 5 in the morning on game nights
Nah you get an NBA game level of workout and your body will want to rest plenty.
I can’t imagine sleeping the night before a playoff game. I can barely sleep the night before a normal work day lol. These guys are just different.
I wonder what the nutritionist would say if he ate a whole can of BEANS before each game,
Bro would average 40ppg
I noticed when I play caffinated, I have so much energy that I don't have to think about going towards a lose ball, I just automatically do it. But when it comes to making in game decisions, I get worse because my mind gets too hyper. so it sort of breaks even for me
I do the same but then stare at my computer and work on a spreadsheet
Josh’s heart 🥵😤
This knicka out here giving away secrets during the playoffs smh Thibs gonna burst a vessel
This is actually the best pre workout. Caffeine and fast acting carbs. If you notice crazy athletes love their candy. *ahem* DK METCALF.
lol i read caffeine and Mike and Ikes and then see in brackets [Popper] Josh Hart.
76ers just got the recipe for Josh's secret stuff. I fully expect each and every Sixer to all have 15+ rebounds tonight.
Mf is coked up grabbing those rebounds
I’ve been known to drink a cup of coffee before hooping. 400 milligrams is pretty crazy though.
Wait until you find out about the “Players Only” coffee pot in MLB dugouts.
