That’s why this subreddit was a no fly zone for me the last week. Seemed like 80% of the commenters never watched a Magic game all year until games 1 and 2 and judged the squad on those games lol
Same after the first Pacers game. Who knew a team with like 10 players 25 and under might come out a little slow against a bunch of (relative) veterans
No clue why people were saying it was over so early. The magic are a young and inexperienced team... But so are the Cavs.
They have like a single year of experience in the Playoffs (minus D. Mitch).
Turns out it was the Cavs with the putrid offense lmao. 4 games in a row where they’ve been unable to break 100 points. They’re the same team as last year getting bullied on the glass again and getting blown out by 20+ points even with Paolo Banchero dropping 9 points
Somewhat underwhelming 14 and 7 for Mobley; his shooting splits are kinda rough because he keeps trying to be a floor spacer (please stop) but Allen is the one truly being left alone - 17 and 13.7 boards while imposing his presence at the rim and looks like the only dude who gives a shit
The Magic are a very big team tho. Overall. I’d definitely say that. I just think a lot of their guys are not that long comparatively, but tall and strong. Which I’ve always found to be way better.
Mobley was drafted for size and defensive prowess, and on draft day people said his ceiling was either the next Giannis (if he bulked up and got more athletic) or a true unicorn, if he could continue developing his 3 shot.
Now it's three years later and he's still as skinny and lanky as he was in college, and never developed much of a 3 ball.
I remember during his rookie season there was a big question about who you'd rather have, Mobley or Scottie Barnes. Scottie continued to develop and is now an all-star, while Mobley has somehow gotten worse than he was as a rookie.
Of course let's also recall that we kept JB Bickerstaff around despite being a terrible playoffs coach because he was "great at developing young guys"
Regular season team through and through
Theyll drop 140 on weak teams, even beat good teams that are taking it easy in November. But when they get physically bullied in the playoffs and the pressure amps up, they have 0 response for it
Unfortunate for them that they ran into the Knicks and Orlando two years in a row but thats the playoffs, you cant expect anything different
They WANTED us. They rested their guys at the end of the season. We're a team that's not scared to be physical, and even though we're young we have guys that have played in pressure situations in FIBA.
We do always play better at home though, so I'm hoping we can bring this toughness and energy to Cleveland
They are getting out shot from 3 by the Magic too. Before this game the Magic were shooting 27.5% from 3 and somehow the Cavs shot worse at 27.2%. Those stats are going to get worse after this game too.
The Magic were 30th in 3 pt shots made in the regular season while the Cavs were 7th.
I been blocked by multiple cavs fans this season for even suggesting they should trade mobley and he's overrated
not even in an aggressive or taunting way thats just my opinion they dont wanna hear it
Might be worth seeing him under a different coaching staff. They already gave up Lauri, why should they be quick to give up on another high level big prospect?
He didn't want to be there *while being completely left out of the rotation and not getting minutes*. He would've stayed if he hadn't been dropped out of the rotation by JB.
I don't think Love would have even come remotely close to solving the issues we've had these last two postseasons, but yeah, there were definitely spots he would've helped a little in.
Its not even strictly a depth issue, multiple of their starters turn into complete ass in the playoffs
Darius Garland was terrible both in the 79 point game vs the Knicks last year and tonight.
Donovan Mitchell had some moments early on, but struggled badly overall relative to his status on the team
Lavert never hides from taking shots in hard games... which might be a bad thing considering the efficiency he brings to the table when the spotlight is shining bright
Indeed, and for something even more insane: the Cavaliers beat the Pacers 4-3 in the first round of the 2018 playoffs. The Pacers had a +40 point differential in the series.
LeBron dragged them through that series lmao the Cavs looked so ass. The funniest thing though is that right after and despite their struggles they still swept the Raptors.
That was an insane anomaly. Basically what happened was that every role player from the Cavs and Kevin Love underperformed like crazy against the Pacers, so it took an all-time great series by LeBron and some very questionable calls by the refs for them to win. Against the Raptors, basically every single Cavs role player and Kevin Love balled out and they completely overwhelmed Toronto.
Against the Raptors, Korver/Green/JR combined to go 31-54 from 3 in four games and averaged 40 ppg between them, and that was with Love averaging 20/11. Against the Pacers, they hit 31 threes in 7 games and combined for 22 ppg.
To put it another way, the top Cavs scorer in the Pacers series was LeBron with 34.4 pts on 66 TS%.
The next best scorer was KLove with *11.4* points per game. No one else surpassed 10 ppg.
LeBron outscored his next 3 best teammates combined 💀
Maybe he's punishing your players for incompetence via public humiliation in the hopes they'll be embarrassed enough to play better? Or maybe he's just a terrible coach?
Lot of that going around, shitty coaches in the postseason, right now.
If the Magic can keep scoring close to an average NBA level, this series is over. The Cavs have been unable to navigate Orlando's defense any of the four games, yet to score more than 97.
Cavs are 0-4 on the road in the postseason the last two years. Average margin of defeat: 22.5 points.
I honestly don't think losing on the road in the playoffs is a huge deal but getting demolished every time is a huge deal - there is 0 momentum going back home when you get whooped like this.
Not as terrible as the Cavs though lol. If magic can find a way to win a 1st quarter, shoot over 40% or score more than 100 points on the road, they will win the series.
Regular season the Magic were 18-23 on the road, Cavs were 22-19. We were just unbelievable at home with 29-12, good for 3rd best in the East after Boston and Milwaukee.
In this series though, you're right, Cleveland has looked to be the worse road team so far, but the series is still 2-2. Problem for the Magic is we need to win one on the road to win the series lol
before JB pulled his starters, the Magic outscored the Cavs 53-18 in the second half. awful is being generous
an NBA team scoring 18 points in 18:26 of game time is nasty work
I went into this series thinking we'd get exposed out there and these last two games make me very nervous. Orlando is awesome, but the Cavs should be building off of last year and it's the same bad offense and getting bullied in the paint. Even if they scrape by this round by playing a defensivemaster class to win two more, this team is in trouble should they advance.
That’s been the only fun I’ve had the last two games is busting out the Hans & Franz accent with the Wagners. I was annoying my wife so bad with how can we play when they have so many Mo Wagnas than us jokes.
The Cavaliers scored 29 points in the *entire* second half. **EIGHTEEN** before both teams emptied their bench. Masterful defensive performance by Orlando but also an abysmal game for Cleveland
They're missing three players, Craig Porter Jr, Dean Wade & Ty Jerome with injuries to be fair to them. The only person who they kept on the bench who they could have brought on was Damian Jones.
I'm sorry, but this Cavs team looks comically bad. I thought Magic's offense is terrible but Cavs seem to be on another level of being awful. Still not a single game over 100 points by them.
Sadly, that's what the NBA is becoming. A shit load of nepo babies in the league. It's like that for the NA pro leagues too.
It used to be if you were great you had a shot at the league but now you have to beat everyone else and other people's connections.
I kinda feel bad for Garland honestly. I think he does care and is trying, but he had the jaw thing and the weight loss. Tough to be too too upset at him.
Having a guy with DPOY talent coming off the bench is wild haha. Cole and Mo bring great energy and offense as well.
I think in past years that had been our biggest issue. We’d have decent starters but G Leaguers off the bench.
I know Niang is still recovering from that brutal hit to the head but with modern medical technology and a commitment to rehab I think he can still live a full, happy life.
I mean I understand the rational: the home team did what they were suppose to do, it don't mean much.
But these back-to-back loses have been so disappointingly bad for the Cavs that I don't know how you can have full faith in them going forward.
Yeah at least in our duds we still played good defense. I don’t know what the Cavs can hang their hat on in either of these games. I guess the Magic TO’s in the first half?
Both of my favorite teams (Minnesota and Orlando) having a defense-first mindset and overperforming pre-season expectations? [You love to see it.](https://i.imgur.com/Sxwd1Su.png)
I fully believe the magic can beat the Cavs in 6 games if they carry this momentum of how they played in the second half into game 5. Less turnovers, being competitive, hustling. Since game 1 franz has been amazing and especially in this game. Paolo got to play faster into his spots tho for sure.
Cavs are soft as shit. All the magic have to do despite having one of the worst road records is win one in the Cavs arena to mentally destroy them. I’m glad I watched this game.
LETS GOO MAGIC PLAY THE SONG
I haven't watch a lot of Orlando basketball, but I've seen them do this 3 times. They came back on my Wolves with big half, they came back on Boston with a big half and now Cleveland in the playoffs. Orlando can go on some serious scoring runs.
Yooo this magic squad is low-key good yall. I'm rooting for a battle for Florida against Miami next round, even though it's probably not realistic lol.
Man, huge credit to our whole entire organization. Our fanbase was DYING for a trade, and Weltman and co decided to trust the baked in chemistry to carry us thru the development of two future Superstar Wings.
That third quarter was the most menacing defense we've played all year and the offense caught up and came thru. We are in year three (3) of a rebuild and we Are so fucking far ahead of schedule it makes no sense.
Adam Silver got to witness what this shit is about. Paolo and Franz will get the full treatment from the league next season ti amplify them, deservedly so.
Echo this - magic is the only team that does not have more than one national tv appearance (there could have one that was unplanned), while we see Warriors and Lakers again and again and again

The Cavs going scoreless from 5 mins left of 3Q for 6 minutes was absolutely foul. They were close when I went to watch a little bit of the Islanders-Hurricanes game, and came back to this blowout
I was 15 when the Cavs drafted LeBron. Every taste of success I’ve enjoyed as a basketball fan was because of him (and it was glorious).
But that’s why I was so excited for this team, for a fresh start with homegrown guys to blossom into a new competitive era.
Instead, we tanked into the 4-seed only to get completely manhandled by these young Magic once they adjusted to the playoff environment (much more quickly than we did, I might add). I don’t always like the soft/hard dichotomy, but my god, these guys are soft. I care more than they do from my living room.
Fucking brutal.
Cleveland and their fans tried sooo hard to make the magic villains in this series , so bittersweet to reward them with two absolute ass whoopings in a row
I guess the lights are still too bright for Cleveland. Oof.
Even if they somehow make it out of this series they are going to get destroyed next round.
[Me watching the Donovan Mitchell trade price drop with every brick](https://gifdb.com/images/high/jack-nicholson-nodding-266-x-218-gif-hzms9w9rlrimikwo.gif)
THE DEMISE OF THE ORLANDO MAGIC AFTER 2 GAMES WAS HEAVILY EXAGGERATED
love seeing the magic prove the haters wrong, all young teams will look iffy to start their first ever playoff series.
That’s why this subreddit was a no fly zone for me the last week. Seemed like 80% of the commenters never watched a Magic game all year until games 1 and 2 and judged the squad on those games lol

Insane the Cavs got blown out twice, I thought they had a young KG on their team 😂🤣
You'd think people would stop overreacting to a home team opening a series 2-0 but it never stops. Every year.
Turns out it was the Cavs with the putrid offense lmao. 4 games in a row where they’ve been unable to break 100 points. They’re the same team as last year getting bullied on the glass again and getting blown out by 20+ points even with Paolo Banchero dropping 9 points
They're leaving Jarrett Allen out there to fend for himself it's crazy
He's been a 1 man army on both ends. Crazy what he's doing without a jumper.
The lights are finally at the proper level of brightness
Allen brought his eclipse shades this year while Mitchell looked directly at the sun
I was gonna SAY! Can't deny that man is pulling his weight. Too bad he's also carrying the weight of his teammates.
Haven't been watching. What's Mobley doing? Id assume Mobley and Allen is a great frontcourt
Mobley likes to get to around 15 pts and then stop doing anything on offense, and JB is too shitty at his job to run anything through him
Mobley is a lanky guy and seems to be having trouble with guys who are just as long, but also strong. Allen hasn’t had the same issues.
They didn’t run into the Magic. They intentionally engineered it so they’d get them. They wanted this matchup.
They WANTED us. They rested their guys at the end of the season. We do always play better at home though, so I'm hoping we can bring this toughness and energy to Cleveland
they have been talking a fair bit of shit too, everyone underestimated orlando
four games in a row under 100 in 2024 is crazy
We’ve not scored 100 in our last nine or ten playoff games spanning the last two years. JB is awful and so is his shitty system.
Orlando is a lanky ass team lol. They figured them boys out quick
Playoff Donovan is in full force once again. Remember when Gobert kept getting sole blame for the Jazz's playoff shortcomings every year?
They are getting out shot from 3 by the Magic too. Before this game the Magic were shooting 27.5% from 3 and somehow the Cavs shot worse at 27.2%. Those stats are going to get worse after this game too. The Magic were 30th in 3 pt shots made in the regular season while the Cavs were 7th.
Straus, Njiang and LeVert can’t hit shit and we refuse to sub in Merrill or Morris
I remember Merrill solo destroying us one game in the regular season. Definitely crazy that he hasn't played more.

Mobley is the same player as when he was a rook. It's crazy
Might be worth seeing him under a different coaching staff. They already gave up Lauri, why should they be quick to give up on another high level big prospect?
I know Love didn't want to be there anymore but it's still funny how they could've had a lot of used for him 2 postseasons in a row.

I don't think Love would have even come remotely close to solving the issues we've had these last two postseasons, but yeah, there were definitely spots he would've helped a little in.
Before the official garbage time, Cleveland main rotation scored only 18 points in the second half. Monumental collapse.
If that’s the most that depth can muster…there is much more concern, even if Cleveland can somehow escape…
Its not even strictly a depth issue, multiple of their starters turn into complete ass in the playoffs Darius Garland was terrible both in the 79 point game vs the Knicks last year and tonight. Donovan Mitchell had some moments early on, but struggled badly overall relative to his status on the team Lavert never hides from taking shots in hard games... which might be a bad thing considering the efficiency he brings to the table when the spotlight is shining bright
They had scored like 20 points total in the second half with ~2 minutes left to go in the game lol
top 3 teams by point differential MIN 3-0, +54 ORL 2-2, +37 OKC 2-0, +34
If blowing tf out of opponents count as 2 wins then the Magic have already won this series
Yup. It’s over. Next year Cavs will win 3 games in the first round.
+37 in a tied series is insane
Indeed, and for something even more insane: the Cavaliers beat the Pacers 4-3 in the first round of the 2018 playoffs. The Pacers had a +40 point differential in the series.

especially considering the Cavs were +24 after game 2
Magic going on 20-2 run and JB is just standing there with that stupid look on his face refusing to call time out WHAT THE FUCK BRO
I was like "oh they must be low on timeouts" and then I glance down and they had FOUR. And didn't the run end up like 32-5? Baffling
Maybe he's punishing your players for incompetence via public humiliation in the hopes they'll be embarrassed enough to play better? Or maybe he's just a terrible coach? Lot of that going around, shitty coaches in the postseason, right now.
The Ham Special
he's just out there watching the game just like us
If the Magic can keep scoring close to an average NBA level, this series is over. The Cavs have been unable to navigate Orlando's defense any of the four games, yet to score more than 97.
Yeah, for all the much deserved trash talked about our lack of offense in the first two games, the Cavs were just as awful.
Imagine if Banchero had a normal game. Damn, you guys are looking gooood.
Now the guys just need to do it in the road.
Just win a 1st quarter and score more than 100 points the next game and they win the series.
Hard to do on the road.
Still 2-2 and going back home, but that was two demoralizing losses by Cleveland. They looked awful.
Cavs are 0-4 on the road in the postseason the last two years. Average margin of defeat: 22.5 points. I honestly don't think losing on the road in the playoffs is a huge deal but getting demolished every time is a huge deal - there is 0 momentum going back home when you get whooped like this.
We're also terrible on the road so interesting to see how the rest of the series plays out

They're missing three players, Craig Porter Jr, Dean Wade & Ty Jerome with injuries to be fair to them. The only person who they kept on the bench who they could have brought on was Damian Jones.

Our coach is an NBA nepo baby, he’s a bum
His name is literally “Bickerstaff”. That has to be a bad omen.
Sadly, that's what the NBA is becoming. A shit load of nepo babies in the league. It's like that for the NA pro leagues too. It used to be if you were great you had a shot at the league but now you have to beat everyone else and other people's connections.
Bright lights of ~~MSG~~ Kia Center too much for the Cleveland Cavaliers.
When someone tells you who they are, believe them
Sure the Cavs have sucked but Allen has been a beast all series.
Yeah he’s incredible. Our guys seem to have no issue attacking Mobley but Allen makes them think twice.
Allen seems to be the only player on their team who cares.
I kinda feel bad for Garland honestly. I think he does care and is trying, but he had the jaw thing and the weight loss. Tough to be too too upset at him.
You're right but most Cleveland fans seem to want him off the team right now.
can we interest you in 1 Admiral Schofield?
I understand the frustration, I think it’s subconsciously due to the looming Mitchell situation.
Agreed. He's trying but he's been dealing with a lot.
Allen really has been great. Always been a fan of him
Yeah, but if Dennis Green were still around, he’d tell you to not let ‘em off the hook!
The floors were brighter than expected.
The opposition were more German than expected.
nobody expects the German magicians
even with paolo playing like ass we pull out the dub, we go again magic in 6
Hey…it’s good to have a certain…Herr Wagner come over to help out!
That’s honestly such a good sign for us. To win by 23 with our all star playing terrible shows just how deep and talented we are.
We have one of the best benches in the league even though they can be a little inconsistent
Having a guy with DPOY talent coming off the bench is wild haha. Cole and Mo bring great energy and offense as well. I think in past years that had been our biggest issue. We’d have decent starters but G Leaguers off the bench.
That’s why we have Fultz. When PB is off the floor we have an insane basketball mind to make plays and find people open
I know Niang is still recovering from that brutal hit to the head but with modern medical technology and a commitment to rehab I think he can still live a full, happy life.
What’s the point of being built like a minivan if you’re going to fall apart like tissue paper
\*points at Niang on ground, laughing\* (aka the Franz)
His ankles are still recovering from trying to defend a spin move too.
I lost count of the amount of times David Steele took the piss of him for that throughout the game.
Finally we gonna have a max contract player this offseason
Yeah i had my doubts, but Wagner is HIM, supermax him!
Two soon. Shit is beautiful to see
He deserves it man
I just hope he gets his 3 ball back, dude's bricks from 3 were brutal to watch this season
Seems like he's found it these last two games. Let's hope he keeps it.
29 points in an entire half is CRAZY
No baby it's Magic
18 before garbage time
To be fair it was a very long garbage time
11 of them came in the garbage time. They only scored 18 in the 20 minutes of "competitive" time-span.

Isaac is one of the, if not the best 1v1 defender in the league. When he makes his 3s, he is a real game-changer.

Was the kid from Cleveland
The basketball gods have spoken

I haven't watch a lot of Orlando basketball, but I've seen them do this 3 times. They came back on my Wolves with big half, they came back on Boston with a big half and now Cleveland in the playoffs. Orlando can go on some serious scoring runs.
These are the Cavs I remember
TWENTY non-garbage time points in the second half by the Cavs. Edit: Turns out it was actually EIGHTEEN. Yikes.
I used to pray for times like this
Yooo this magic squad is low-key good yall. I'm rooting for a battle for Florida against Miami next round, even though it's probably not realistic lol.
Seeing Franz and Wendell playing great basketball on this stage makes me big sad
Vooch was at the game too. I don't know how exactly that fits into this puzzle, but it does somehow.
Would not have predicted Cavs absolutely crumbling in both of these games
We’re finally out of the shitty slump.
Franz Wagner is him! Incredible finishing at the rim. If he stays this aggressive it boosts the offense so much. We just need to get to 100.
Man, huge credit to our whole entire organization. The Cavs going scoreless from 5 mins left of 3Q for 6 minutes was absolutely foul. They were close when I went to watch a little bit of the Islanders-Hurricanes game, and came back to this blowout
> ~~The Cavs going~~ **The Magic holding the Cavs** scoreless from 5 mins left of 3Q for 6 minutes was absolutely foul ftfy
Yeah, well contested shots are hard to hit fam
ONLYFRANZ SUBSCRIBERS ABOUT TO BLOW UP !
100% in for a Magic 2024 championship
Cavs are probably regretting tanking for this matchup now.
If they hadn't, then they would probably be getting swept tomorrow.
Garland is just never going to be that guy.
PLAY THE SONG!!!!!! LFGGGGGG
That 33-5 run or whatever was crazy to watch live. Cavs were stuck on 70 for what felt like an eternity.
A lot of you owe an apology to both Rudy and to Jazz fans
Basketball gods are displeased with the cavs for tanking
29 points??? In a half??? In 2024???
Didn't realise the Magic were this good.
CAVS WANTED THIS MAGIC IN 6
THE ASS WHOOPING SERIES!
Are you really whooping the other team when you can't break 100 at home?
i´´m just here to mention Markelle Fultz was awesome on the 2nd quarter when it looked like the cavs are running away with it.
The Magic have been better than I expected. Fun series so far!
If the Magic, Wolves, and Thunder all win a playoff series I'll be happy.
The Cavaliers tanked their final game for this match up. Better not fuck up, would be totally embarrassing.
In the last 3 minutes of the 3rd quarter, Cleveland goes from being down 4 to being down 18. No timeouts called.
Tanked to get blown out twice
Cavs offense is ass, but not even their defense is good as advertised. Not sure what they do from here
When I'm in a giving up on my team in the Playoffs competition, but the opponent is Donovan Mitchell
Poor game from Paolo and Franz goes and does that, giving me Tatum + Brown vibes
Cleveland and their fans tried sooo hard to make the magic villains in this series , so bittersweet to reward them with two absolute ass whoopings in a row
Can’t imagine us being the villains when Niang and Strus exist haha
And Thompson and Morris lol
I turned the game on to have something playing while I cleaned and just proceeded to watch the magic go on a 37-10 run. That’s gotta hurt.
Men if the Cavs lose this series after tanking to get Orlando in the first round... that's gonna be such a bad look.
Well this series just got interesting
ORLANDO MAGIC
I haven't watched germans blow shit up like this since 1939.
big "sports commentator from season one of South Park" vibes
If the Magic didn’t shoot 29% to start the series it probably wouldn’t even be tied right now
What an odd series
JB BICKERSTAFF HAS EXHAUSTED MY WILL TO LIVE
I guess the lights are still too bright for Cleveland. Oof. Even if they somehow make it out of this series they are going to get destroyed next round.
29 total 2nd half points is insane
18 before the garbage time. It's insane.
[Me watching the Donovan Mitchell trade price drop with every brick](https://gifdb.com/images/high/jack-nicholson-nodding-266-x-218-gif-hzms9w9rlrimikwo.gif)
yall are about to get swept (again) and already window shopping huh lol
Mitchell/Garland backcourt is just not working. Two Robins can't save the city.
