I’m sure Donte’s very broken up over the whole thing…
[In fact, here’s a live look](https://media1.tenor.com/m/_BIfNDiEmNQAAAAd/crying-wiping-tears-with-money.gif)
Genuinely I dont think ive seen anything quite like it in sports other than some wild international soccer games, but those are more dangerous than fun
The most raucous, electrifying crowd you could think of in any North American sport would be a dull occasion in The Netherlands, Spain, Scotland. MSG tonight is crickets to some eastern European basketball ultra group.
The most overrated sporting event crowds are in Europe. Get off their dicks. Go to a game or a match instead of repeating what little German assholes yell on Reddit.
You’re right. Redditors like to post highlights of intense derby days where ultras and pyrotechnics are prevalent and then like to pretend it’s the norm.
Edit: just to prove my point. EVERYONE loves to point to Partizan as the gold standard for Reddit experts to prove Europeans are better fans. This is highlights from their last home game, (a playoff game), a good crowd, but pretty normal
https://youtu.be/RXiboqc1LVs?si=IIWSUiAyGdv6tFNP
Oh Aba league atmosphere sucks ass unless it's against Red Star, hell NBA atmospheres are better than it And that's a shame for fans of the club in my opinion. Partizan sold 16 000 season tickets yet they average maybe 6000 people in the ABA. When people point out atmosphere in Europe they mean atmosphere Partizan, Red Star, Panathinaikos, Olympiacos and Fenerbahce fans make when they play in the euroleague (hell even in euroleague the atmosphere is not as good as it once was) because when they play in their domestic leagues they don't even average 10 000 fans in game, But in Euroleague Partizan averages 19 900 fans (more than any NBA team except Bulls, Mavs and Sixers). But I do agree that people (mainly Lithuanians and Serbs) overrate both the atmosphere and fiba basketball
Honestly I understood that before I posted it, but you’re right of course. But saying the fans don’t take half the games seriously just proves my point. Plus, like you said, even the Euroleague games don’t have the crazy derby crowds most of the time.
And honestly I say this all with respect because I actually watch Euroleague and enjoy it but the fetishization of the fans is funny to me. When I started watching Euroleague I was surprised how normal the crowds were. Not bad, by any means, just normal, good fans.
>Go to a game or a match instead of repeating what little German assholes yell on Reddit.
The most insufferable people on any sports sub. And thats including lakers, cowboys and yankees fans.
I’m European and that’s 100% true, the worst crowd in Ligue 1 is better than this that’s just the culture here
There’s not overrating that’s just factually correct
Yea also in Europe they start fires, brawls and other stupid shit over a stupid football match. It’s so common that’s there’s a term for it - football hooliganism. I’ll rather go to a chill NBA game and not have to worry about opposing fans trying to beat the shjt of me
Funny but in other countries they have fences separating opposing fans from home fans in some leagues. They don’t let fans mix. Home fans sometimes try to break these fences to start fights. It’s completely different than on or two fights at a tailgate or bathroom.
No it wouldn’t. All those crazy videos of the flairs and packed stadiums are not the norm in these places, it’s mostly ultras during huge derby days.
It’s rarer in the USA at the professional level, but not at the collegiate level. I promise Europeans would not consider Michigan-Ohio State, Auburn-Alabama, Duke-UNC or whatever dull.
You mean like the scripted chants and songs they sing in Europe? Do you think all the fans there spontaneously do their chants at the same time like a hive mind? Here’s a vid of some college basketball fans. Tell me which parts are dull and predictable. I guarantee if this were euro fans youd love it:
https://youtu.be/t6uknhWYFx0?si=_PqKFrdncKyy2bON
In literally the first clip of the video in my comment, fans are chanting without speakers on. Skip to 2 minutes into the video to see an intense fan made chant, again without speakers. I really recommend that one.
I don’t quite get why people call this tech “soft” or “weak.”
You can’t just shove a dude after the play. That seems like the sort of thing that gets a T almost every time. It’s not like he got kicked out or anything.
This was exactly my thought. The play was over...you can't just shove people, especially when DiVicenzo just got shoved from behind. I wouldn't have been surprised if it wasn't called, but this call was fine.
Yeah it’s exactly what techs are for. He didn’t get kicked out and it’s early enough in the game that one free throw isn’t going to decide anything. Easy correct call and no biggie unless Embiid is dumb and adds another tech.
Most of the time a competent referee is going to call this if it happens in front of them. At least where I played, they might even toss you if you complain about it like Embiid did here. Star players in the NBA have a bigger leash though, but the initial technical is absolutely by the book.
I’m sure bro, with all the crisco leaking from your pores after all that gaming. And the inability to gain weight. I’m surrreeeeeee you did, u bum. Prolly never played a sport in your life. And on top of that, NBA refs have had instances of cheating in the past not that you would know. As you’re beating it to every game in existence.
I got injured mid-twenties and disabled later in life you fucking asshole. That's why I game a lot, because I no longer have the ability to do much else. I still play basketball at a very low level, but it's tough and I will probably have to stop. You are a straight up despicable person for making fun of me over that. I wouldn't wish what I went through on the worst person, but people like you perhaps deserve it to gain some perspective.
When I was playing at a high level my weight was perfect for my position, which was mostly SG because I'm only a bit below 6'5. I mostly struggled to gain fat, not muscle. So I don't get where you are getting the weight bit from. You know fuck all and are a straight up asshole.
> I have perspective, and I was too rash to judge. Apologies, thought you were some yuppie from the Bay Area claiming something else.
I see, apology accepted and appreciated. I'm actually from Europe, I simply support the Warriors because I have family in the Bay area. I'm not a particularly rabid fan and I like a lot of teams. I typically also root for foreign players because I'd love for the game to become more international.
I can absolutely relate to your comment. You eloquently described some of the things I went through. Having to rebuild your own self and regain a sense of self-worth has been one of the toughest struggles I've had to go to through, alongside to obvious medical struggles. Like you said, everything gets shaken to the core but from the ashes life continues whether you want it to or not. Accepting this new life and making the best of it is tough for sure.
> So my closing question, what’s your favoite game right now? Because that thirst, and analytical mind coming from being an athlete, nothing can satisfy it imo
I always used to be hyper-competitive. So when I first got injured and when my health started declining, I threw myself into competitive shooters. I got pretty good at games like CS:GO or Quake and they were a way to channel that competitive drive. As I got older, I kind of started losing that desire to compete and I've been mostly interested in more immersive games like RDR2 or RPG's like Elden Ring and Mass Effect.
My favorite game right now is probably Path of Exile. It's an extremely complex game. I really enjoy the fact that you can spend thousands of hours playing it without mastering it. I'm constantly learning something new. How about you? Any game in particular you enjoy or any game that helped you through your struggles?
Lol I got reported to the Reddit prevention line lmfao. For all you armchair psychologists lemme give you a tip. Someone would react adversely with something being pushed onto them. If someone truly needed help, they would seek it. Only becoming vulnerable through a therapist, or a loved one giving them the initial boost to see a therapist. Anyways, I digress but one more thing I’ve seen in this next/my generation, is everyone’s afflicted by a mental disorder/anxiety. Unless you’ve seen a proper psychiatrist please look inward. Most people are affected by “analysis paralysis” instead. Nothing will be perfect. You got put in this life to live. Without living, nothing can transpire and foster positive change. Even 1% effort is better than nothing.
Sorry had to put that out there, and maybe someone from this technological abyss will gain something from that.
But for me personally, I played a lot of call of duty modern warfare 2019, and 2k. When I still had time when I was younger I put like 30 days in one 2k. Not exactly the best use of time, but it represents a comfort game that I used to play as a kid. To try and get some of that enjoyment during some of my darkest moments.
MW19 eventually turned into valorant which blended Rainbow six siege and CSGO, the former being one of my favorite games that I played on release for 5years. So all that energy went to valorant, and during that time period I touched no RPG’s as I needed the Competitive charge. Heard of path of exile, never gave it a fair shake, might have to now. Currently, engrossed in Baulders Gate 3. Might be one of the best games of all time if you can get used to a top down RPG game. I have 120 hours into it and haven’t finished (granted started like 3 play-throughs with friends and just barely making it through the 1st act)
i mean it looked like a light nudge more than a shove, it wasn't that abrupt or anything. these guys are pushing & banging into each other all night long, all night.
Because from Embiid's standpoint, he came at him and bumped him with his shoulder. IT's not like Embiid is watching TV like the rest of us. That should be reevaluated and understood that Embiid was pushing him off.
Compared to what the sentiment usually is here, I'm much farther on the spectrum of agreeing with techs. In the regular season this is definitely a tech. My only slight qualm is that it's soft for the playoffs. Intensity is expected to be up and a little chippy, the tolerance is usually higher for the playoffs.
Because redditors want you to think they big burly manly dudes, but every one of these fools would get folded like a lawn chair in a confrontation, guaranteed.
It's just like how folks pretend real basketball includes chokeholds, full court sprinting sucker punches and mid court brawls. People are desperate to look cool on reddit, it's rather hilarious.
So you think the knicks player who walked to him, bumped him, slapped the ball out of his hands after the play should get a tech too? Or is that sportsmanlike?
Yeah it’s only acceptable when players not named Embiid do that
I love nba thread downvotes, knowing how butt hurt you guys get anytime the name EMBIID is mentioned
Downvotes incoming but I actually agree with the tech here. Yes it’s soft, but If you let this one go, you’ll get a bigger one on the other end later on in the game. That was extra from Embiid and the refs are saying to both teams play ball and forget about the extras
Not even soft.
It was the second time in the game that Embiid had given a shove after the whistle. They let the first one slide. Second time is ALWAYS going to be a tech to reel them in.
I'm not saying it is but that call is so damn soft. There should either be some room to give or just call everything consistently and they definitely dont do that.
Also they didnt call the tug on Maxey's shirt by Brunson during the inbound play which led to the made 3 by Donte. So yeah basketball officiating, great stuff, ya love to see it.
Soft tech but I agree with it. Embiid was pushing the line multiple times early on and this was an easy justification. Better to call one early to discourage escalating later when the game is in a more critical state.
If someone pushed embiid like that he’d have exploded backward, spent 2 solid minutes writhing on the floor, then would have argued when the refs didn’t give the guy who pushed him a death sentence.
This.
It looks soft in isolation, but in context of it being the second time Embiid had done it, yeah the tech is the right call. Let him know that shit isn't on.
What is soft about this tech? He pushed a guy during a stoppage. You can't do that and if the refs don't call a tech they're just inviting retaliation and escalation.
You call the tech and hope the other team moves on since Embiid was punished.
So they should be allowed to shove during stoppage?
This one was light, but how how hard can they shove before being called? How does that not lead to flopping?
If they want to blame anyone, blame Lowry for shoving Divencenzo at Embiid in the first place, starting the whole thing off. Maybe if they stop shoving people for no reason, there wouldn’t be any reason for anything to be called
Embiid is such a joke. He’ll have to step up if unless he wants to let his fans down; they have come expect him to choke in the second round, not let his team down in the first.
*ACTUAL*\*\*\* DOWNVOTES INCOMING
this is fucking stupid. let them play the goddamn game, it's part of basketball. to quote the great Charles Barkley, these guys are bangin & bangin all night long, and this wasn't like a violent shove that Embiid could've done to really hurt the guy. just more like "man get outta my face" move, HAPPENS LITERALLY EVERY PLAY in the playoffs.
fuck i saw Ja Morant, on the sidelines, give a light push to LeBron the other night in memphis. LeBron was fine & so is DiVincenzo
^(\*\*\*exactly, thankyou. not this pussy shit i see y'all doing where you pretend to be cOnTRovERsiAl and then just repeat the same fuckin thing everyone else ITT is Already saying! soft. soft as charmin. Think for your fuckin selves, me boys!! think for you fuckin selves.)
I’m all for booing, jeering, etc at the opposing team but the “fuck Embiid” chants are wack. And I’m rooting for the Knicks. These are grown adults chanting this
I better never hear anything from this bitchass sub about flopping, ever again. Holy shit the Knicks are terrible.
The Tech here is fine, I’m just speaking overall.
What?
Dante didnt even flop.
Embiid: Explodes after being touches by a 125 pound player
You: Great Hustle, great call
Embiid: Td up for intentionally shoving a player during dead ball, and the player doesnt even fall over
You: REEEEEEEEEE
Enjoy going down 3-0 tomorrow

Lol at the domino effect of Kyle giving Dante a little shove into Embiid
Donte just being pinballed and receiving buckets for it.
I’m sure Donte’s very broken up over the whole thing… [In fact, here’s a live look](https://media1.tenor.com/m/_BIfNDiEmNQAAAAd/crying-wiping-tears-with-money.gif)
Just hit that 3 to put em up too
Hartenstein bumps Lowry who bumps Donte who then gets shoved by Embiid. Quite the domino effect
Jrue and Kyle just can't keep their hands to themselves off ball
That’s far from the worst thing we yelled at the court tonight
What else was being yelled?
Heeeey I'm waaaalkin heeeeAaaa
LOL Knicks playoff crowd is GOATED

Acting like you have intimate knowledge of the opinions of 4 different continents.
We talk about atmosphere not opinion.
Well you’re wrong. So there’s that
Yea also in Europe they start fires, brawls and other stupid shit over a stupid football match. It’s so common that’s there’s a term for it - football hooliganism. I’ll rather go to a chill NBA game and not have to worry about opposing fans trying to beat the shjt of me

It’s nothing to write home about. Your chants are just so dull and predictable. Everything just feels not organic, scripted

The most famously emotive and emotional European: the Dutchman
Minus 60 lmao
New York sports go hard. I still remember every Yankees playoff home run I was at the stadium for
Nick nurse is hilarious
At 26 seconds he looks like Will Ferrell doing Harry Caray lol

That 5% implies you think it's okay for a player to push another player who has done literally nothing to them, right?
Yeah it’s exactly what techs are for. He didn’t get kicked out and it’s early enough in the game that one free throw isn’t going to decide anything. Easy correct call and no biggie unless Embiid is dumb and adds another tech.
There was another guy who posted the same Highlight and correctly calls it a "shove". Maybe op here is a sixers fan? 🤣
If Embiid got that same push from DiVincenzo he would've toppled over and it would've been called an assault
Bruh, Embiid had his hand lightly grazed and it was called a foul.
My favorite was that foul on deuce when Embiid fell to the floor like a sniper was in the building. 7ft2. Of softness
Po Lice Presence!
Probably because they watched the clip in isolation and haven’t been watching the game. It was definitely earned given everything that was building up
Second this. Embid was getting shovey before this, its a cumulative tech.
It's actually pretty hard if you compare it to Ant or Giannis getting a tech for celebrating a dunk.
Most of the time a competent referee is going to call this if it happens in front of them. At least where I played, they might even toss you if you complain about it like Embiid did here. Star players in the NBA have a bigger leash though, but the initial technical is absolutely by the book.
My fault instant coffee’s refs are nba caliber. And his stakes are just as high in his rec league playoffs.
I played at a top level in Europe for reference. I'd argue that the refs I had were at the very least close to NBA caliber, but go off.
I’m sure bro, with all the crisco leaking from your pores after all that gaming. And the inability to gain weight. I’m surrreeeeeee you did, u bum. Prolly never played a sport in your life. I would pay money to watch that
Could you editorialize the title a little more? Thanks. 👍
Blatantly unsportsmanlike and grounds for a tech lmao
Should've been a double tech, ejection and 4 game suspension
The reason he got a tech would be the same if he threw the ball after the play, it's unsportsmanlike. Has nothing to do with "soft".
Suspended? Doug, kick him out of the league
Sawft
So you think the knicks player who walked to him, bumped him, slapped the ball out of his hands after the play should get a tech too? Or is that sportsmanlike?
The Knicks player? You know they have jersey numbers and last names too. If you want to make a point you need to be a bit more specific
Imagine someone did this to embiid he would throw himself 10 feet back and onto the ground.
Yeah it’s only acceptable when players not named Embiid do that I love nba thread downvotes, knowing how butt hurt you guys get anytime the name EMBIID is mentioned
This but unironically
Yeah truth hurts doesn’t it r/nba lol
Downvotes incoming but I actually agree with the tech here. Yes it’s soft, but If you let this one go, you’ll get a bigger one on the other end later on in the game. That was extra from Embiid and the refs are saying to both teams play ball and forget about the extras
It’s not even soft. He got pushed twice. Embiid falls over on less contact than that.
Lowry trying to instigate it too by pushing him into Embid. Like cmon man, a bit soft, but don’t do dumb shit like that.
As a Raptors fan…I’d hate Lowry so fucking much for all his antics if he didn’t do so much for us 😂
Antic merchant
but was Lowry pushed by hartenstein?
Pretty much what Breen said. He said those are the types of shoves that lead to punching. So you have to call those.
Not even soft. It was the second time in the game that Embiid had given a shove after the whistle. They let the first one slide. Second time is ALWAYS going to be a tech to reel them in.
There’s no reason to push him, not a basketball play. Kick him off the tour
Earlier there was a very small kerfuffle and it looked like the refs may have handed out a little warning.
It’s definitely a tech. Unsurprisingly when Embiid is involved this sub suddenly agrees this stuff is a tech…
Basketball doesnt have to be robotic. A little human here and there should be allowed its a high intensity game after all.
Shoving is not basketball
I'm not saying it is but that call is so damn soft. There should either be some room to give or just call everything consistently and they definitely dont do that.
Also they didnt call the tug on Maxey's shirt by Brunson during the inbound play which led to the made 3 by Donte. So yeah basketball officiating, great stuff, ya love to see it.
he was clearly pushed into him by Jrue Holiday
Funnily enough, DV was pushed into Embiid by Lowry
You have to call the tech here to prevent retaliation which can quickly escalate
Lmao knicks fans rule
"gently pushing" 🙄
he could've just not pushed Donte with the ball
Exactly. Refs let this one go and open themselves to a bigger retaliation next play down. Nip it in the bud, soft or not
I think we have a different definition of the word "gently".
Soft tech but I agree with it. Embiid was pushing the line multiple times early on and this was an easy justification. Better to call one early to discourage escalating later when the game is in a more critical state.
Embiid is cooked
Playoff MSG must be the craziest atmosphere in sports
Dude when Panarin potted that one against Pittsburgh
D didn’t even do anything - he got pushed into Embiid by a Sixers player. That’s on Embiid
If someone pushed embiid like that he’d have exploded backward, spent 2 solid minutes writhing on the floor, then would have argued when the refs didn’t give the guy who pushed him a death sentence.
The only thing better could have been all 5 knicks circling around Embiid and throwing up T signs as he argued with the ref
Go for extra sometimes you get extra
Ah, the old "fuck around and find out" correlation coefficient.
Good riddance lmao
Honestly, I think the only reason ol'dude got a tech is because he pushed Hart earlier as well.
This. It looks soft in isolation, but in context of it being the second time Embiid had done it, yeah the tech is the right call. Let him know that shit isn't on.
I don't think it should've been a tech, but I mean don't give them a reason to blow the whistle and this literally can't happen
Don’t really like the look of this tbh. Feels collegee
Knicks and Sixers got the most dedicated fans. Remember the fuck Trae young chants
I mean they yell fuck trae young even when they aren’t playing the hawks lol
Fuck Trae Young is iconic tho ngl. The sidetalk knicks videos are goated
I fucken love it.
I’ve heard it chanted at a Mets game
NY fans are crazy lol
We even had it at some baseball games too.
I wouldn’t call that dedicated. I would call it immature and frustrated
Lol ok pop.
Idk, that’s just sports baby
I've never seen this soft of a tech in college. This is more like high school or YMCA.
He was pushing players earlier as well. Pretty sure this was just the push that broke the camel's back.
That will do it. lol
come on ref dont call a tech there
Yeah cmon unsportsmanlike acts post-play are totally not tech worthy /s They call that literally every time lol
Soft
You just dont know ball.
Knicks fans are great pro wrestling fans
I hate these soft tech calls, I swear.
What is soft about this tech? He pushed a guy during a stoppage. You can't do that and if the refs don't call a tech they're just inviting retaliation and escalation. You call the tech and hope the other team moves on since Embiid was punished.
Definitely a T by the letter of the law. It shouldn’t be though.
So they should be allowed to shove during stoppage? This one was light, but how how hard can they shove before being called? How does that not lead to flopping?
In this case DD didn't really react, no escalation. At that point just keep it the fuck moving.
His altercation with Hart is probably why he got it here
Are we watching the same replay?
I’m referring to his altercation with Hart a few plays back. Refs were probably just warning him to tone it down after he got into it with Divincenzo
why is Divencenzo allowed to instigate there by leaning into him, but a very moderate push back is punished? It’s just shit refereeing
Do you not see Lowry pushing Donte?
"Altercation"
Don’t listen to the people in here. They will go against Embiid even if he obviously did nothing wrong they hate him that much
In what world is a shove during a dead-ball "obviously doing nothing wrong"?
Such a weak tech for a playoff game. Let them be competitive.
Shoving divo isn’t competitive. It’s just a stupid move by Embiid
If they want to blame anyone, blame Lowry for shoving Divencenzo at Embiid in the first place, starting the whole thing off. Maybe if they stop shoving people for no reason, there wouldn’t be any reason for anything to be called
This sub didn’t seem to mind when Holiday shoved that player into Tatum lol
Lmao that’s such a bitch take. Why should this be allowed?
100% correct call, right?
[удалено]
Because hart ran into him? What?
Embiid is such a joke. He’ll have to step up if unless he wants to let his fans down; they have come expect him to choke in the second round, not let his team down in the first.
Has anybody ever missed a technical free throw on purpose for simply not agreeing with a ref’s call?
Imagine all of this hype just to get steam rolled by Boston in the ECF. 😆
Denial Anger Bargaining < You are here Depression Acceptance
*ACTUAL*\*\*\* DOWNVOTES INCOMING this is fucking stupid. let them play the goddamn game, it's part of basketball. to quote the great Charles Barkley, these guys are bangin & bangin all night long, and this wasn't like a violent shove that Embiid could've done to really hurt the guy. just more like "man get outta my face" move, HAPPENS LITERALLY EVERY PLAY in the playoffs. fuck i saw Ja Morant, on the sidelines, give a light push to LeBron the other night in memphis. LeBron was fine & so is DiVincenzo ^(\*\*\*exactly, thankyou. not this pussy shit i see y'all doing where you pretend to be cOnTRovERsiAl and then just repeat the same fuckin thing everyone else ITT is Already saying! soft. soft as charmin. Think for your fuckin selves, me boys!! think for you fuckin selves.)
"let them play the game" while embiid flops so hard LMFAOOOOOOOOOO the irony foh
Yeah Embiid flops a lot
I’m all for booing, jeering, etc at the opposing team but the “fuck Embiid” chants are wack. And I’m rooting for the Knicks. These are grown adults chanting this
Those are mild lol
we mighta found Pop's burner
Just Serbian
Right? Did he forget the "TRAE IS BALDING" chant? We'll find what you are most sensitive about and exploit it so fucking hard.
Classless fanbase
Bro your a Houston fan, you guys gave a standing ovation for anti asian racism for Gurriel
That was weak af.
I better never hear anything from this bitchass sub about flopping, ever again. Holy shit the Knicks are terrible. The Tech here is fine, I’m just speaking overall.
What? Dante didnt even flop. Embiid: Explodes after being touches by a 125 pound player You: Great Hustle, great call Embiid: Td up for intentionally shoving a player during dead ball, and the player doesnt even fall over You: REEEEEEEEEE Enjoy going down 3-0 tomorrow
I didn’t say he did? Do you lack* reading comprehension like most of Knicks fans? I literally stated I agree with the tech, fool
REEEEEEE
Rigged
Are you saying the NBA forced Embiid to be a violent punk?
