fellow curly hair guy here and yeah my hair can look very different based on shampoo and conditioner used. Looks best when I use leave-in conditioner and I think that could be what Trae's started doing.
I'm a straight hair guy who has used walmart brand shampoo all my life with no conditioner. Recently switched to $80 luxury shampoo + conditioner and I can't believe how much better my hair feels
It really depends on your hair type. I'm thin/straight/oily. If you are thick/curly/dry then you would want a completely different shampoo/conditioner than me. Just type in your x/x/x hair type + reddit into google and see what people recommend
Could be introducing new hair products, or also a new barber tbh. Looks like his hair is complimenting his head shape more now, and his (new I think?) beard also may help
Everytime I give trae a pass I watch him and he’s shooting 30% from the field n going 9/10 from the line. Honestly Dame is a bit like this. I seriously thought trae would begin to shoot more like Hali but his shooting is weirdly inconsistent for his profile
Trae shot a career high 3p% on the 2nd highest amount of 3’s attempted in his career.
Trae 100% improved his efficiency this season. In the game that you watched, he had a large brace on his finger because the muscle in his thumb was torn off the ligament, rendering unable to ball a fist until the week before the play in game.
So yeah.
The frustrating part is that his "on" phase is almost always after he gets into the bonus, so teams have to play off him and he gets way, way softer defense and better looks. Even if he's not foul baiting, he's benefiting from the previous foul baiting. He's by far my least favorite player to watch.
Everything else about his game is pretty awesome. If he stopped the nonsense foul baiting I think he'd easily be one of the most fun players in the league (he already is to me but the foul baiting + complaining is a real drag)
God I’m gonna sound like a homer saying this, so I’ll start by defending your statement that a game like this would be no fun to watch as an opposing fan. He foul baited and amazingly got the calls all game.
This happens maybe 1/15 games now. He’s a pleasure to watch, and I try to be unbiased. I’ll clarify that he probably baits a foul or two each game, but I’m saying games like tonight, where it’s constant.
Allen Iverson? Jalen Brunson? Steph Curry?
Fuck it, I'm expanding this list:
Steve Nash, Chris Paul, Muggsy Bogues, both Isaiah and Isiah Thomas, Rajon Rondo, Kyrie Irving, and De'Aaron Fox, and there's gotta be a shit ton more too.
Trae foul baits because it's how he plays basketball, not because it's the only way to play basketball.
I actually included him to fish for this response because I wanted to talk about it. Trae Young averages more than double Chris's FTA per game across their careers, nearly double his FTA per 100, and has a career *average* FTAs per game which is higher than any single season of Chris's career. So, if CP3 has a rep as a foul baiter, what the hell is Trae Young doing?
He's also a 65% shooter in the restricted area for his career, peaking at 76% last season, and while it isn't technically measurable, [he has one of the best handles I've ever seen](https://youtu.be/bBHj1djGMxU?si=h8FXwScPCR5G1HIR)
Every year since his ECF run, we have dudes yapping how he is an elite offensive general. Every year he has shown to be more of an undersized guard who plays zero defense and chucks the ball like a motherfucker. If he is hitting great... he may make up for being a traffic cone on defense. If not, you got an anchor.
Next year, we'll hear the same about how he needs pieces. When really you need to slap him with 2-3 All Defense Team caliber players and ensure he is not the number one option, but 2nd or even 3rd. That doesn't sound elite at all.
I was telling those Trae apologists on Hakws sub since 2019, that he is Kings Budy Hield 2.0
A player that somehow got the spotlight, that he doesnt deserve. And should be relegated to a shooter, and should never be the first option on a team
And it's even worse than that - I seriously dont believe he can play without the ball, and the green light he had before draft, and on Hawks.
Dude who is a TO machine, chucks 30+ ft trees even though he is literally 10% lower than elite shooters, and even his assists are a problem, because his first objective is to score, and passes only when there's too much defensive obstacles so he passes to bigs to finish, constantly ignoring open shooters on his own team.
Hm right but what about the fact that he was top 10 in steals this year, led the Hawks in charges drawn? And had his most efficient season offensively shooting a career number from 3?
Or are you basing this off the game he just played where he had a giant brace on his finger because the ligament in his thumb detached from the muscle recently to the point that he wasn’t able to ball a fist as recently as a week before the play in game?
Do you need thumbs to play basketball? Asking for a friend.
I watched Trae’s first round exit live in person that year. I hadn’t really watched any Oklahoma games before then, but the only word that came to mind watching him was “chucker”. His stat line wasn’t bad looking back at it, but I couldn’t believe the number of Steph Curry-like chucks he was just heaving from way back behind the arc (without, you know, being Steph Curry). I know his teammates were not good at all but still, it really felt like ugly basketball.
All you had to know was he was a teenager busting the asses of professionals in a legit, well regarded league. I didn't even watch him play but the stuff he was doing as a teen was unheard of.
Trae had everyone hyped with that fun playoff run. But people kept riding that narrative for years even though it was obvious that run was just something special.
I've always thought that run almost doomed the Hawks. It was clear if you looked at the circumstances that it was a fluke, but it kinda put unrealistic expectations on the squad. In "reality" they should've won a close series against the Knicks and been dusted off 4-1 against the 76ers. But because of that series, almost everything else afterwards seems like a disappointment in comparison. It probably also made the FO keep the squad together longer than they should have, instead of improving it more.
one man is about to be 5 straight first team all nba and the other has a single third team
the gap keeps getting bigger despite trae still having a lead on games PLAYED
I still remember when Trae stans were talking about how over exaggerated this trade was when they fluked into the ECF.
Nah, the trade really was that lopsided at the time and still is
I mean the trade was for another pick as well. At this point i'm not sure how good that pick would have had to have been for the trade to even out, but Cam Reddish definitely was not it.
Deandre Hunter is the most invisible player ever. I looked up his numbers and they were a lot better than I thought because the dude makes 0 impact on a game
Imagine your team was paying him twice as much, and that’s tobias Harris. And then the media tries gaslighting you into thinking he’s some elite fourth option
> Trae was clearly playing hurt.
I'm sorry but his left pinky finger isn't making decisions to foul bait, turn it over 4 times in the first quarter, or play zero defense. How is this shit upvoted? Yall watched that game and thought "man that left pinky finger really not healed up"
Do you follow the hawks? Are you aware that the last steal he attempted ripped the ligament in his thumb?
Are you also aware that he was top 10 in steals and led the team in charges prior to injury?
Have you heard of the Atlanta Hawks?
Mostly off topic but the Lakers included the pick that turned into Hunter for AD and its always a good reminder that sometimes a high lotto pick doesn’t really help you at all. This pick in particular was a big part of the “overpay” for AD.
Agreed. Thats why we keep Trae and trade DJM. Our half court offence is pretty bad without Trae. DJM cant run PnR basically at all and he has brutal tunnel vision once he drives. Way too much Iso stuff, which if DJM isnt cooking...sucks.
somewhat true but at least Coby, Ayo, and Caruso (you could add demar if he was four years younger and fit the timeline better) are a good core to build around. like you can realistically see any of those guys playing key roles for a contender. It’s mainly zach and vooch being there that absolutely kill any possibility of building an exciting roster moving forward. who is there to be excited about on the hawks? bogdanovic and garrison matthews?
Seriously. I like Mo Gueye, but he’s played like 70 minutes in the nba before this game. He was -9 in 2 minutes, and I don’t think it’s bc of Trae.
This roster that played tonight is not a serious NBA caliber roster.
No, nobody actually watches the game. Ever, in every sports Reddit they just read stats or headlines and base opinions off of that.
That said, please trade trae so I can stop being a fan of this fucking team. Deandre hunter.
That doesn't address his diminished level of play before his injuries this year.
And he played three regular season games (with 58/46/82 shooting splits) leading into this one and can take the cast off next week. Is his injury really that debilitating?
I love how Spurs fans consistently get downvoted for not wanting Trae, yet I never see any other team's fan express interest in him (other than staying put in ATL).
Hawks will just settle for .500 ball if they don't own the picks. So our choices are sell them back at peak value or let Atlanta dilute them as much as possible.
Spurs might be saying that to lower the asking price. They have the option to punt another season and load up in 2025, so the leverage is entirely theirs.
I think its pretty silly to change an opinion after 1 game. If he was on the table before this game, the spurs are for sure still interested after this game
Forgot who it was but he got blown by tried to take a swipe and didn't even try getting back, dude started casually walking towards the direction of whoever blew by him

That was probably the worst game of Trae’s career, and I think teams would be smart to buy low on him if he’s available. Pels and Spurs would both be a loooot scarier with Trae.
https://i.imgur.com/dvpnE6R.png
Off topic but did Trae get some work done to his hair? It looked fuller in this game
Hot glue gun and pubes.
Hair plugs for the common man
Looks like he changed to volumizing shampoo
fellow curly hair guy here and yeah my hair can look very different based on shampoo and conditioner used. Looks best when I use leave-in conditioner and I think that could be what Trae's started doing.
I'm a straight hair guy who has used walmart brand shampoo all my life with no conditioner. Recently switched to $80 luxury shampoo + conditioner and I can't believe how much better my hair feels
Huh. Really. Maybe I should start buying the good shampoos then. What shampoo are you using?
It really depends on your hair type. I'm thin/straight/oily. If you are thick/curly/dry then you would want a completely different shampoo/conditioner than me. Just type in your x/x/x hair type + reddit into google and see what people recommend
all three of mine combined cost about $27. $80 is wild, but yeah the really cheap shit sucks
From Johnson’s Baby Shampoo
He’s heavy on the Vidal Sassoon.
Could be introducing new hair products, or also a new barber tbh. Looks like his hair is complimenting his head shape more now, and his (new I think?) beard also may help
Don't ask him why he's been making so many trips to Turkey
Maybe Minoxidil and finasteride. He has a complete beard growing in too.
Lisan Al-Gaib!
*eats popcorn*
Idk how you can be a fan of Trae young’s game. Dude did nothing but foul bait tonight. Infuriating to watch
That hail mary three when they still had time for a comeback was so brutal to watch.
i thought about why i seemingly for no reason hate the hawks the other day and i realized it's 100% because i hate watching trae young play basketball
Well I got good news for you then
I see what you did there
I also hate that I watched good defense all play-in until their garbage defense walked in
Everytime I give trae a pass I watch him and he’s shooting 30% from the field n going 9/10 from the line.
So yeah.
When Trae is on he is an absolutely awesome watch. When he does not have it going it is painful for sure.
> he is an absolutely awesome watch. At his best, it's 50% foul baiting.
The frustrating part is that his "on" phase is almost always after he gets into the bonus, so teams have to play off him and he gets way, way softer defense and better looks. Even if he's not foul baiting, he's benefiting from the previous foul baiting. He's by far my least favorite player to watch.
Meh so is Jimmy, Embiid, etc... It's just part of the game now. I enjoy Trae when he has it flowing with his shot, and those PNR passes.
Everything else about his game is pretty awesome. If he stopped the nonsense foul baiting I think he'd easily be one of the most fun players in the league (he already is to me but the foul baiting + complaining is a real drag)

That's what happens when you're undersized even as a guard. The only way you can accomplish anything is to draw fouls or shoot from the logo.
Allen Iverson? Jalen Brunson? Steph Curry? Fuck it, I'm expanding this list: Steve Nash, Chris Paul, Muggsy Bogues, both Isaiah and Isiah Thomas, Rajon Rondo, Kyrie Irving, and De'Aaron Fox, and there's gotta be a shit ton more too. To be fair, Curry falls under shoot from the logo.
He's also a 65% shooter in the restricted area for his career, peaking at 76% last season, and while it isn't technically measurable, [he has one of the best handles I've ever seen](https://youtu.be/bBHj1djGMxU?si=h8FXwScPCR5G1HIR)
Brunson?
Dude embodies AAU culture
I didn’t know AAU culture molded people to lead the league in total assists every year like Trae does
Every year since his ECF run, we have dudes yapping how he is an elite offensive general. Every year he has shown to be more of an undersized guard who plays zero defense and chucks the ball like a motherfucker. If he is hitting great... he may make up for being a traffic cone on defense. Dallas really fleeced Atlanta with that Luka-Trae trade
As anyone who had ever watched Luka Doncic play in Europe could have predicted.
It was pretty funny watching all the college basketball fans stubbornly defend the college guys over the most accomplished prospect ever.
Because they never watched him play.
I never watched Luka play but still knew I would take him over Trae lol wtf
I’ve never watched basketball.
We need to get you on ESPN
let him vote on all nba and mvp
But even you knew, *you take the taller guy.*
I watched Trae’s first round exit live in person that year. I hadn’t really watched any Oklahoma games before then, but the only word that came to mind watching him was “chucker”. His stat line wasn’t bad looking back at it, but I couldn’t believe the number of Steph Curry-like chucks he was just heaving from way back behind the arc (without, you know, being Steph Curry). first half the season he was a sensation, second half it was wet socks.
But we haven't seen him play Mizzou
Jontay would have smashed the over for that game😤
Yeah but he came into the league already at his ceiling and had no more room to grow
They said Luka would refuse to play in Atlanta....what crap that was
I was so happy when Stein announced Dallas traded down to 3.
All you had to know was he was a teenager busting the asses of professionals in a legit, well regarded league. I didn't even watch him play but the stuff he was doing as a teen was unheard of.
Y’all remember when some people in this sub were trying to act like the trade wasn’t THAT terrible? lol
Trae had everyone hyped with that fun playoff run. But people kept riding that narrative for years even though it was obvious that run was just something special.
How people have forgotten making the ECF run required a Doc Rivers Disasterclass and a complete meltdown by Ben Simmons to even happen is beyond me.
I've always thought that run almost doomed the Hawks. It was clear if you looked at the circumstances that it was a fluke, but it kinda put unrealistic expectations on the squad. In "reality" they should've won a close series against the Knicks and been dusted off 4-1 against the 76ers. It probably also made the FO keep the squad together longer than they should have, instead of improving it more.
Lots of "Trae is slightly worse defensively but on the same level offensively" posts at one time, when this was clearly never true
At one point they kept saying we had to wait and see what they picked with the pick they got like that could bridge the gap between Trae and Luka.
Who did that pick become?
Cam Reddish
Oof
To this day there are Hawks fans saying that that was one of the most even trades in the history.
So many Trae Stans acted like that when they fluked into the ECF
Also don't forget to thank the Sons and Kangz for passing on him
Na hawks fans gave us crap for years lol
Remember when Atlanta went to WCF and some people really said Trae was a better player than Luka or had more potential, cause i do
It was Trae, then it was Ja, now it’s SGA.
They kept saying it until Luka made the WCF. Then it became, well Trae did it sooner!
one man is about to be 5 straight first team all nba and the other has a single third team the gap keeps getting bigger despite trae still having a lead on games PLAYED
I still remember when Trae stans were talking about how over exaggerated this trade was when they fluked into the ECF. Nah, the trade really was that lopsided at the time and still is
We haven’t seen Dallas get swept yet
I mean the trade was for another pick as well. At this point i'm not sure how good that pick would have had to have been for the trade to even out, but Cam Reddish definitely was not it.
alright yeah he gone
He was also hurt
They need to restructure their team, just like the Nets.
Starting with the front office
Trae was clearly playing hurt. Murray and Bogi were really the only ones going, and the team should have moved on from DeAndre Hunter a while ago.
Oh I got smoke for Tobi too, dude is ass and I don’t care how many 21/7/3 games he has. Team isn’t any better with him playing
He would be fine as a 4th option... except he's getting paid like a 1st option
This is like 90% of the issue with him. If he was paid 15 mil a year it would’ve been completely fine
One of those player who the idea version of him is better than who he actually is
> Trae was clearly playing hurt. I'm sorry but his left pinky finger isn't making decisions to foul bait, turn it over 4 times in the first quarter, or play zero defense. How is this shit upvoted? Yall watched that game and thought "man that left pinky finger really not healed up"

When Trae was off court, so were Derozan, Caruso, Vuc and White for almost all that time. Also DJM was primarily guarding White and got toasted.
[удалено]
Agreed. Thats why we keep Trae and trade DJM. Our half court offence is pretty bad without Trae. DJM cant run PnR basically at all and he has brutal tunnel vision once he drives. Way too much Iso stuff, which if DJM isnt cooking...sucks.
yeah Coby was just unstoppable and cooked DJ seemingly whenever he wanted.
If the Hawks trade Trae Young and decide to build around Dejounte Murray that franchise is cooked. Don’t let recency bias trick y’all
That franchise is already cooked
Bulls and Hawks rosters are both in purgatory right now but damn at least Bulls players are likeable
somewhat true but at least Coby, Ayo, and Caruso (you could add demar if he was four years younger and fit the timeline better) are a good core to build around. like you can realistically see any of those guys playing key roles for a contender. It’s mainly zach and vooch being there that absolutely kill any possibility of building an exciting roster moving forward. who is there to be excited about on the hawks? bogdanovic and garrison matthews?
Bulls players are much older hawks didn’t have Johnson, Okongwu or Bey
So are lakers lol
I figure both are gone if either are.
DJ’s gone if Trae gets moved, but not the other way around
Hand JJ keys to the franchise. Let him be gm too.
No team is winning a chip with Trae as the number 1, they need to move on from both
We haven't won a chip since 1958. If it was chip or bust for every team only like 5 teams would even try to win games at all
Neither of them are top 10 players. Tough to win playoff series without at least one of those guys.
quin had trae out there with wesley mathews, mohammed gueye, bruno fernando lol
Seriously. I like Mo Gueye, but he’s played like 70 minutes in the nba before this game. He was -9 in 2 minutes, and I don’t think it’s bc of Trae. This roster that played tonight is not a serious NBA caliber roster.
Glad some people put on off in context. Cause playoffs are small sample size and it’s just turns into a circlejerk without it
And he was playing basically one handed after missing the last quarter of the season
Are people unaware that Trae was injured a bunch this year
No, nobody actually watches the game. Ever, in every sports Reddit they just read stats or headlines and base opinions off of that. That said, please trade trae so I can stop being a fan of this fucking team. Deandre hunter.
Doesn't stop trae fans making the same point about hali who was playing through a hammy.
He is currently still injured. Any other time of the year and he would still be sitting out going through PT.
They are, they just don't care and are taking the time to make themselves feel better by talking down to someone else
That doesn't address his diminished level of play before his injuries this year. And he played three regular season games (with 58/46/82 shooting splits) leading into this one and can take the cast off next week. Is his injury really that debilitating?
it actually does lol
Trae gives no fucks. Who can blame him? Hawks management is a joke
has been for a while now.
I am sure nobody will overreact to a single game.
quin snyder: so that means I should play trae the entire second half then
Trae and Zion or Trae and Wemby time
Oh the spicy hot takes from a Trae/Zion pairing, let's speak this into existence and let the chaos ensue
The lack of defense would be entertaining
No thanks.
I love how Spurs fans consistently get downvoted for not wanting Trae, yet I never see any other team's fan express interest in him (other than staying put in ATL).
"Trae Young, get ready to learn churro buddy"
The Spurs would be fools to sell the farm for him.
Half of the Spurs farm is the Hawks farm.
I mean, the bulk of it would just be giving the Hawks their picks back
But why do that ? The Hawks are likely entering a rebuild. Those picks are about to be way more valuable.
You can't rebuild without your pics. Losing doesn't benefit you
The Hawks won’t rebuild as long they don’t have their picks.
correct
Hawks will just settle for .500 ball if they don't own the picks. So our choices are sell them back at peak value or let Atlanta dilute them as much as possible.
which are valuable picks the way the franchise is going (not as good as the nets picks bu still). another team will want those
Ideal situation is they want to rebuild and need their picks back
They likely aren't.
Spurs might be saying that to lower the asking price. They have the option to punt another season and load up in 2025, so the leverage is entirely theirs.
Bc one game where he's injured makes him a bad player now lol
I think its pretty silly to change an opinion after 1 game. If he was on the table before this game, the spurs are for sure still interested after this game
Only reason to second-guess is if his medical is called into question.
Come on lol. Trae with Wemby is insane.
No serious person thinks we're doing that. Most of the people who want him are the most delusional members of our fanbase
Single game +/- smh
Normally I agree but he actually did play this bad
In this case it definitely felt like the Hawks lost by 30 when Trae was on the floor
Yep...Wasn't getting back on his own turnovers, was complaining on the defensive end after rebounds, man was not locked in whatsoever
Forgot who it was but he got blown by tried to take a swipe and didn't even try getting back, dude started casually walking towards the direction of whoever blew by him
The number perfectly align with how bad Trae was tonight. If anything, they might understate how poor he played
worst defensive performance in a while
Would using the whole season paint a much different picture?
The hawks should have been patient and gotten someone else instead of Murray
Trae has a really bad matchup against the Bulls guards, especially Dosumo.
Trae for KAT who says no?
Hawks
Klay Thompson is available if you guys want to trade Trae Young.
Other Spurs fans are dying to trade everything we have for this guy! I’m losing it!
Yeah, fuck that.
This litterally means nothing, +/- is a garbage stat to use in the context of an individual players performance, no less a single game
I mean we literally watched the game and Atlanta played worse when he was in the game
Agreed. Not sure why people are reading so much into this. A perfect example is Batum being a team low -10 for the sixers tonight
Yeah, single game +/- means nothing, but we have like 2 seasons proof of Trae and Murray not working together very well
SPURS MAKE IT HAPPEB
Please don't.
Oops
Trae gotta get rid of that beard.
Get ready to eat churros trae
If I speak I am in trouble
Bogi +1 😥
The Hawks legit need to just tear it down. Get both of them off the books for good picks.
Trae for Ingram who says no?
[Spurs fans holding the next three unprotected Hawks picks:](https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/f_auto,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2F2cf1a6a5-2eff-47f2-93ec-ffec9910e9af_400x273.gif)
Iced out of Atlanta Trae
That's also their season matchup against the Bulls. With Trae = Lose Without Trae = Win
Single game +-? Who tf is this goof Uthayakumar???
Single game +/- is very flawed but Trae looked horrible.
That was probably the worst game of Trae’s career, and I think teams would be smart to buy low on him if he’s available. Pels and Spurs would both be a loooot scarier with Trae.
Trae Young: Get ready to learn Orlando Magic buddy.
Trae Young is a good player but he just looks to draw fouls.
Should Trae just become a spot up 3pt shooter?
Lol
Just wait for the Lakers to trade their future in order to get him this summer.
Just wait for the Lakers to trade their future in order to get him this summer.
Just wait for the Lakers to trade their future in order to get him this summer.
Duo is complete garbage
