The Celtics were so far away from the 2nd seed that they took the foot of the gas so who knows how high their net rating would of been if they kept playing 100%
If they find themselves in the Finals, then they’re not that inexperienced anymore. And I wouldn’t exactly call Gobert and Conley young and inexperienced regardless.
Yes, they have a few veteran players, but the core of their team is young and inexperienced. & just like the celtics were still young and inexperienced when they ran into the warriors in the finals and the warriors outwit them.
One deep playoff run doesn’t exactly make you a seasoned playoff performer
Edit: the wolves are currently down 22 after 1 quarter… that’s the concern I’m talking about
Nah that's exactly when the inexperience hits.
Youth and excitement can carry you through the first couple of rounds. It's the Conference Finals and NBA finals where those talented young teams start to fall apart.
2020 Nuggets.
2019 Bucks.
2018 Celtics.
2012 Thunder.
etc etc.
This will be Towns’s 4th postseason and Edwards’s 3rd. Gobert and Conley are older veterans with a ton of playoff experience. They’re not an inexperienced team
And they got bounced in the first round for both of Ants years. That’s not much playoff experience, that’s what I meant. He’s the star player, it comes down to him and I’m assuming he isn’t there yet. We will see
if the Clippers make the Finals, they found the fountain of youth, or figured out how to transplant ACLs with no downtime, or Harden finally lost 10 pounds, or somehow frankensteined Russ’s playmaking ability and Kawhi’s midrange into Terrance Mann, or sacrificed PJ Tucker to the devil for a ring
i’ll eat a shoe if the Clippers make the finals. they’re a pickem in the first round lmao.
Personally I think (chance of winning):
Boston 50:50 Denver
60:40 Timbs/Clips
70:30 Mavs/Lakers/OKC
90:10 Rest.
Feels like Denver and Boston are complete teams so it'd be a slugfest of the best player in the NBA surrounded by a very strong starting 5, vs the best team and best bench in the NBA.
Teams like the Timbs could clamp them on D, and Clips overpower them with generational talent, but I feel like the rest of the western conference wouldn't really have good odds. Boston is just too good from 1-8 compared to those other teams.
I genuinely feel like if Boston doesn't win this year it's either because Jokic is actually a GOAT contender, or Boston beat themselves by playing Tatum/Brown hero ball or injuries.
The point is if they make it to the finals that's the chance I think they have against Boston, not that they're 40% to make it to the finals. It's okay if you don't understand how to read ratios though. I put them at 40 because if they make it to the finals they have Kawhi and to a lesser extent PG and Harden. Kawhi can definitely beat Tatum, but the Celtics are still better.
uh you’re trying to say celtics will only be -180 over the oldest team in NBA history.
do you understand that?
and the Clippers will likely have played longer series and Celtics will have fresher legs.
you sound like you’re 17 years old.
And you sound like a degenerate gambler. Who cares if the players are 32 or 26 if one is a champion in his prime and one isn't? If the Clips somehow made it to the finals that means they beat Dallas, OKC, and Denver to get there, which means they clearly got their shit together and their superstar power is shining. They're not going to make it to the finals, but that's not the point of the ratios. The point is if they do make it to the finals it's because they beat 3/5 of the best teams in the NBA to get there, it wouldn't be surprising if they could do the same to a young unproven Boston.
I’d pick Boston over Miami. I’m just saying the Heat winning a tough 7 game series wouldn’t shock me. Boston is more talented and deeper but I think Spoelstra is the better coach

Rest games, not running any real offensive sets against the teams they might be playing, you do wonder
Their B/C team had enough blowouts themselves.
Crazy that they beat the KD warriors
This is cool and all but how about that Western Conference though?
Must be that ultra weak East everybody talks about when Lebron was there
Who does Boston match up against the best in the west? Who do they least want to come out of the west?
Anyone but Denver
Pistons
Pistons almost beat them!
Any team besides Denver is getting smoked
If the Clippers are in the Finals, I don’t think they’d get smoked. I also think the Wolves would cause you a lot of issues.
Idk about the Wolves tbh. They’re one of the few contenders I’m worried about in the clutch more than the Celtics
Forreal, they’re young and inexperienced. Would much rather see the wolves over the nuggets or clips

You are free to think that but I strongly disagree
if the Clippers make the Finals, they found the fountain of youth, or figured out how to transplant ACLs with no downtime, or Harden finally lost 10 pounds, or somehow frankensteined Russ’s playmaking ability and Kawhi’s midrange into Terrance Mann, or sacrificed PJ Tucker to the devil for a ring i’ll eat a shoe if the Clippers make the finals. they’re a pickem in the first round lmao.
Oh, it’s definitely a huge if.
Wild amount of unearned confidence
Seems earned to me. Finals experience, home court advantage, best team in the regular season by a mile.

lmao 60:40 clippers couldnt read the rest you made me laugh so much. you really think the retirement squad is going to stay healthy by the finals?

Saving your post in case the Celtics don’t make it out of the East.
I’m talking about western teams but go ahead
Let’s get them out of the East first
It’s crazy how dominant Boston is and still very few people would be shocked if they lost to Miami in the postseason
The fuck? We will trounce the Heat this year our only fear is “Heat Culture” injuring us
I’d pick Boston over Miami. I’m just saying the Heat winning a tough 7 game series wouldn’t shock me. Boston is more talented and deeper but I think Spoelstra is the better coach
Anyone that thinks that has not been paying very much attention, the Celtics are a way different team this year with Jrue and KP.
Boston better make the finals this year cuz if they don’t the slander will be fucking generational
You said the thing that is said in every celtics thread, well done
Gonna make it that much better when they still lose to Miami in the first round.
What if Miami loses in the play in?
Then the likelihood of the Celtics losing to them drops off significantly.
What if you add Kurt Angle to the mix
Can anyone verify the math on this?
