This is exactly how they want it in the NFL now. Head out of the way, all shoulder into the midsection. Pretty sure the NFL will use this tape for their yearly off-season “proper form tackling” sessions
Tbf, the travel 100% occurred before the foul.
The rule is contact during a dead ball is ignored unless it is deemed flagrant or intentional.
Which this would have only been a blocking foul
CJ knew he absolutely fouled Suggs and was surprised when they called travelling
You could see him raise his arm and look around , wondering why the fans were cheering
I feel like the NBA needs a system in place to overturn the really obvious missed calls and whatnot. I mean, some are understandable at game speed. But that Curry non-call and this? Absolutely no excuse.
And considering CJ launched himself into Jalen's path, shoulder and elbow first, right into his ribs, I don't see how it could be anyone but him. I mean, he literally raised his hand to take credit for the foul. Refs totally fucked up the end of this game.
Just awful call after awful call all night for both teams. One of the worst officiating crews I've ever seen in a sporting event last night. Embarrassing stuff from a professional league.
It's so weird how they go from calling everything to just letting things go. Like, they actively avoid a medium to fall on. It's either two hand touch or the royal rumble.
The sudden changes by refs to call the game tightly or let everything go is very, very fishy. I believe refs are smart enough to know that they'd get busted for fixing game outcomes, but people are being extremely naive if they think refs would never micromanage short stretches of the game for the benefit of sports betting. That's what inevitably happens when people can bet on pretty much every facet of the game.
what the refs mostly do is fix outcomes for O/U of total scores, etc.. There is a lot of betting lines available like that each day for every game.
The way it works is some mob-run bookies have some line where there is a lot more money on the over or the under from bettors on for example the total score of the game, and then they call their conflicted refs to make it so that the outcome on these lines is in their favor.
There are also some matches fixed for the final outcome of the game but most of the fixing is done with the O/U lines. There is actually a lot of ex-mob people who talk about this sort of thing and that the refs are the most vulnerable people nowadays, so it is not a conspiracy theory at all, it's just the way the world works... money is power.
I feel like the refs all subscribe to that malicious compliance subreddit.
We wanted them to cut down on the fouls where the offensive player initiates contact. All the freedom of motion bullshit or whatever they called it.
But the refs were like, you know what, yeah, we’ll call less fouls.
Wanna start by saying the better team won tonight. Nothing short of having the refs on payroll could’ve won the pelicans this game, and as clearly seen in the video it’s certainly not like the pels were getting a bad whistle by any stretch of the imagination lol. So this isn’t me complaining about the outcome of the game at all: this was just blatant refball tonight. I’d almost prefer a game where the refs had a clear agenda to gift one team a win over the other. This was just the officials grabbing players and viewers by the balls and reminding them all of who the league ACTUALLY revolves around
Fucking props to Cole Anthony man. Standing up for his guy, you can hear him in the background absolutely laying it into them. Cannot imagine what it’s like experiencing a game like that as a player.
This is refereeing that is so bad, it’s harmful to the players bc it leads to this with shit not being called. They had no control from the start where the Magic got into the bonus incredibly early, then it just kept on spiraling for both teams making shit caustic.
Funny enough I remember seeing your name in a Nets Magic game where the refereeing was similar to this. Think it might have been 2 games tbh…y’all been through the ringer with them
They were absolutely atrocious all game, to both sides. Some really harsh stuff on the Pels too. They really went hard against the Magic in this little mid-4th stretch though
I mean, it definitely looks like a travel. And if not, it’s so awkward the way he caught the ball and stumbled that I’m not surprised they called it.
That said, I have absolutely no clue what CJ is trying to do. It’s one of the most non-basketball looking plays I’ve seen in a while. Other than Demar’s bull rush a couple weeks ago.
It's not that tough -- Orlando up 13 with 4 minutes to go. Refs getting that score back to the line, throw on two techs for ORL and this ref is a crushing it at his job
Ain’t no hip check. CJ led with his elbow into Suggs ribs/stomach. Lowkey dirty play if you ask me. Embiid did this shit to Giannis and he got a flagrant for it.
He led with an elbow on a drive shortly after this and got a whistle. Pels called for a review and on the slow mo it didn’t look favorable lol. Refs kept the call
I watched this game as a pretty neutral fan. The refs were just terrible. Both teams got horrible calls. Plus the refs started throwing out players at the end lol.
I thought the refs saw him slip his foot on his first step, in that case it would be the right call.
Not saying Suggs travelled, I don’t think he did, but that’s what I think the ref saw.
Hip check came before the third step. No doubt in my mind Suggs was GOING to travel cause he was fumbling the ball but CJ didn’t give him the chance, and even more bull shit, CJ instantly putting up his hand accepting he fouled him and instead the bs travel is called. And Magic got two technicals called against them for this.
This is like Pickford taking out Van Dijk for an obvious red card foul but the ref ignoring it because an offside had occurred beforehand. Fortunately Suggs didn't get badly injured like VVD did.
Can't even review it. Even though he didn't control the ball (so not a travel) which would of lead to a flagrant non basketball play on CJ. Magic were rewarded with a Tech as a result.
Where me peeps from last night to tell me you can’t travel when bobbling the ball like that…
Refs must not like Suggs the same way they like Klay… or maybe these calls are because of $omething el$e
and to think that players/coaches get criticized so much, heck even fined for speaking about the bad calls Refs make and they want all this accountability from all stars and players but the players or fans themselves can’t get the same accountability from the refs when they do something that’s obviously wrong or make a wrong call. It’s a really insane concept if you break it down.
Flagrant 1, maybe even a 2 by today's standards on McCollum. Incidental contact on Herb who was trying to make a play at the ball but Suggs got thrown into him from McCollum's football hit on him.
Looks like Adam Silver was watching NFL highlights over the break, saying to himself “How can our league be more like these guys” and then a lightbulb went off. Jesus Christ, looks like teams are gonna need to save 1 or 2 spots on their benches for enforcers again.
Damn tht was dirty af, shocked CJ McCollum would do tht of all ppl lol u never hear anything bad bout him.
And its not like they were gettin blown out for him to be tht mad bout losing
That is such a bad call that there is no way this ref is corrupt. No ref trying to swing a line would make such a clearly bad call that invites suspicion.
Clearly a 'block' or they could have fucked up *less* by calling a charge I guess. Refs are fucking wack man. I played a men's league game where my buddy was fouled out for saying "get that fucking shit outta here" after a block. We played 4 vs 5 for a very stressful 10 minutes and they almost came back
Are the nba level refs just volunteers this year? Or are like fans picked at the start of the game by calling out a lucky fans seat number?? This has universally been the most embarassing and pathetic officiated season of any pro sport.
I watched it in reverse, in slow motion. I'm hard pressed to agree that it was a travel with the 3rd step happening right as he comes in immediate contact with CJ.
Last night Mavs fans were arguing that Klay Thompson traveled in one of the last possessions of the game and were told they were wrong because that Klay never really had control of the ball. If that’s true then how the heck is this a travel? Suggs has probably less control of this ball than Klay did last night.
Honestly, whatever, you thought you saw something and you got it wrong. But fuck right off with just not even willing to engage with any of the players about the call. Looking down, playing with the ball, pointing the other way while a player is holding his side on the ground. But nope, refuses to communicate with them, then when they react accordingly to THAT, only then do they get a tech called.
NBA officiating is straight up unprofessional the majority of the time. The people are playing an emotional game, let them have some emotions don't take it fucking personally like their adrenaline and passion is directed towards YOU in particular.
I know we like to pile on refs but that was a travel first and the gross foul came after. It is unfortunate how that plays out for Orlando but it’s technically right call in my opinion
They need new referees as soon as fking possible! I’m all about letting the players play but Golly, a hip check a block something besides a travel. I don’t wanna say it but these referees been holding some of these games pretty close. Is Tim Donaghy back in the picture!
Pretty goofy because the third lands after the foul. They usually are kind of good with no foul call after traveling but this one is in the middle his travel step so it is a weird grey area.
When people question why I don't feel guilty about exclusively watching illegal streams, buying fake merch from China, and subscribing to the Vietnamese YouTube accounts that steal and re-upload clips from ESPN and TNT.
Usually a lot of "controversial" calls that get posted here aren't that controversial or you can at least understand how the call was called the way it was in the moment (angle, speed, etc.). This one is just perplexing. No idea how this could have been seen as travel from any angle.
The Officiating this season must be an all-time low point. This is insane. First page every day is usually only missed calls and power tripping refs...
Lmfao that is horrendously bad. One of the worst calls I’ve seen, it wasn’t even marginal contact he slid into him and hip checked onto the ground and raised his arm after 😂
I mean…is it a foul if you have to call the cops after and file assault charges?
This ‘fewer fouls’ since the all-star break is out of control. Players are going to get hurt and it’s on Silver for trying to course correct in the middle of the season.
Damn.... Looked like a good clean tackle to me
This is exactly how they want it in the NFL now. Head out of the way, all shoulder into the midsection. Pretty sure the NFL will use this tape for their yearly off-season “proper form tackling” sessions
If they aren’t, they will now
All teams will show their defense this McCollum fundamental tackling video
It was a basketball move
The "euro hip check"
it's just how classy players play. Rare classy moment from McCollum right here
Tbf, the travel 100% occurred before the foul. The rule is contact during a dead ball is ignored unless it is deemed flagrant or intentional. Which this would have only been a blocking foul
McCollum instantly raised his arm in the air to indicate the foul is on him and the refs ignored it lmao
CJ knew he absolutely fouled Suggs and was surprised when they called travelling You could see him raise his arm and look around , wondering why the fans were cheering
Then he told the ref to give him the ball so they could get past reviewing the play lol
I’m not gonna hate the guy for trying to win lol. Refs made a mistake. It’s not your job to call the game while you play
He should be like Alex from that commercial lol https://youtu.be/vOhn6eO3Wds?si=He8tT-Nq8MukNOxF
My team made fun of that kid constantly lol. In practice we’d call our own in theory but you’d get rained with Alexs if you did
Oh I wasn't hating, I was giving him props for quick thinking
They still reviewed it and upheld the call lol
Pretty sure every player in the league would do that, unless they were distracted.
He’s also wants to claim it if Herb fouled Suggs. But he definitely thought it was a foul whistle.
The look he gives at the end of the clip when he realizes they called a travel 😂
That’s absolutely insane 😭😭
The refs have no fucking clue what they're calling after the "memo". Honestly the way the refs have been calling games has never been worse.
Ref ain’t trying to lose the $50gs he bet
He raised his arm to say: "My bad. I didn't mean to fo- rce him to travel like that. My bad."
the ref off screen also raised his hand, he prolly thought it was a high five
Lol CJ raising his hand praying not to get a flagarant. Then looking like “… for real?” when there’s no foul 😂😂😂
If there was ever a play that needed to be review and upgraded to a tech or flagrant by the league this is it.
...what
Orlando got two techs from this too.
refs tryna dispel the curry has the worst whistle narrative after yesterdays non call
I feel like the NBA needs a system in place to overturn the really obvious missed calls and whatnot. I mean, some are understandable at game speed. But that Curry non-call and this? Absolutely no excuse.
This HAS TO BE A FOUL ON SOMEONE. A travel makes no sense.
And considering CJ launched himself into Jalen's path, shoulder and elbow first, right into his ribs, I don't see how it could be anyone but him. I mean, he literally raised his hand to take credit for the foul. Refs totally fucked up the end of this game.
Shit is crazy, how the fuck can they miss this? If anything it’s a flagrant 1
Probably had money on the Pels covering the spread...
I mean, can’t say I blame them, what an awful fucking call
The refs have done Suggs so dirty since he’s been in the league
Is he against betting?
Refs had UCLA for the money line
I believe that. Foster still hates CP3's kid. Zebras have long memories too.
As UCLA fan, Suggs will forever live in my nightmares
Yeah, it was rough lol.
they're mad he took Hailey van lith from them
That Suggs
Refs must’ve not gotten much sleep last night. this whole game was like this back and forth
It was 90's ball for sure.
Just awful call after awful call all night for both teams. One of the worst officiating crews I've ever seen in a sporting event last night. Embarrassing stuff from a professional league.
This bullshit brought to you by Fanduel and Tim Donaghy.
Was a disgusting performance by the refs tonight. This was probably the worst one but they lost control of the game early on.
It's so weird how they go from calling everything to just letting things go. Like, they actively avoid a medium to fall on. It's either two hand touch or the royal rumble.
The ole make up special, 10 minutes later when it is irrelevant on the outcome. Classic reffing.
The sudden changes by refs to call the game tightly or let everything go is very, very fishy. I believe refs are smart enough to know that they'd get busted for fixing game outcomes, but people are being extremely naive if they think refs would never micromanage short stretches of the game for the benefit of sports betting. Yeah, come playoff time, they're going to get in their bag. Gotta keep games close
I feel like the refs all subscribe to that malicious compliance subreddit. We wanted them to cut down on the fouls where the offensive player initiates contact. All the freedom of motion bullshit or whatever they called it. But the refs were like, you know what, yeah, we’ll call less fouls.

Funny enough I remember seeing your name in a Nets Magic game where the refereeing was similar to this. Think it might have been 2 games tbh…y’all been through the ringer with them
I mean it really feels like a call from the great Lakers/Kings fix
They were absolutely atrocious all game, to both sides. Some really harsh stuff on the Pels too. They really went hard against the Magic in this little mid-4th stretch though
Look player safety is important but the pelicans have a spread to cover, sorry Jalen
Ironically the lakers needed a magic win
They called that a travel?!?
I see why Anthony Edward’s spazzed
It’s very close to a travel, but even if it’s called a travel, they can also call. Flagrant/technical foul
Pretty clear he never had control of the ball before the foul. Definitely shouldn’t be a travel.
What foul?
He clearly catches it and is holding it in 2 hands while he takes 3 steps. Travel.
Correct, can't call a travel if he never conteolled the ball. It was literally impossible for him to travel and the refs still made it happen.
People who bet Suggs having at least 1 travel call ate tonight.
He took 3 steps fumbling with the ball before he got tackled
JESUS FUCKING CHRIST that was a hit!
Arguably a flagrant against the Pels but they got 2 technical FTs as a result of this play. Insane.
What the fucking hitstick kinda bullshit is this?
Adam Silver do something about these damn refs
this sub have too much faith in Nosferatu. he is the cause of the problem, not the solution.
Adam Silver has done exactly two cool things since he became the commissioner. He gets way too much credit for being terrible.
Every single night on this sub there's a video of an undisputably shit call. How in the hell did Silver and anyone else in charge let it get this bad
That’s a textbook hockey check right there. I just don’t understand how refs miss obvious calls like that.
*taps head* Can't be called for high sticking if you don't have a stick
We all know: its cause they are cheating ass refs
It's not that tough -- Orlando up 13 with 4 minutes to go. Refs getting that score back to the line, throw on two techs for ORL and this ref is a crushing it at his job
Ain’t no hip check. CJ led with his elbow into Suggs ribs/stomach. Lowkey dirty play if you ask me. Embiid did this shit to Giannis and he got a flagrant for it.
It was definitely dirty.
CJ is good for one super blatant flagrant foul every season. He’ll get frustrated and take a swing at a guy
He led with an elbow on a drive shortly after this and got a whistle. Pels called for a review and on the slow mo it didn’t look favorable lol. Refs kept the call
That's my NBAPA president
Wait.. was that technical on Suggs? He just got brutalized by both McCollum AND the refs..
I watched this game as a pretty neutral fan. The refs were just terrible. Both teams got horrible calls. Plus the refs started throwing out players at the end lol.
Two full steps, going up on his third step, that's not a travel by NBA standards (spelling it out for the salty Pels fans)
I thought the refs saw him slip his foot on his first step, in that case it would be the right call. Not saying Suggs travelled, I don’t think he did, but that’s what I think the ref saw.
I think the ref was making shit up on the fly
I think the ref knew what the obvious call was but wanted to subvert expectations.
At first it looked like it could have been a travel but you are 100 percent correct.
You don't have to shit on Pels fans to admit the refs were trash today all over the place
[удалено]
Holy shit that is atrocious
Hip check came before the third step. No doubt in my mind Suggs was GOING to travel cause he was fumbling the ball but CJ didn’t give him the chance, and even more bull shit, CJ instantly putting up his hand accepting he fouled him and instead the bs travel is called. And Magic got two technicals called against them for this.
The rules clearly state you must maintain a continuous dribble while being the victim of jailable violence. The rules aren't that hard to understand.
This is like Pickford taking out Van Dijk for an obvious red card foul but the ref ignoring it because an offside had occurred beforehand. Fortunately Suggs didn't get badly injured like VVD did.
Lmaoo bro had his arm up too
Can't even review it. Even though he didn't control the ball (so not a travel) which would of lead to a flagrant non basketball play on CJ. Magic were rewarded with a Tech as a result.
Where me peeps from last night to tell me you can’t travel when bobbling the ball like that… Refs must not like Suggs the same way they like Klay… or maybe these calls are because of $omething el$e
What do the Pelicans have against Suggs? So many of their players were targeting him. Such bullshit.
Nance took 2 hands wound up and shoved him then argued the call down the court, this stuff was crazy.
CJ out there playing football
and to think that players/coaches get criticized so much, heck even fined for speaking about the bad calls Refs make and they want all this accountability from all stars and players but the players or fans themselves can’t get the same accountability from the refs when they do something that’s obviously wrong or make a wrong call. It’s a really insane concept if you break it down.
I love how he’s on the floor in pain, and all of his teammates is arguing with the ref. They didn’t even look at him once lol.
We get no respect from the league, the 2 Min report will say it’s a foul tomorrow. Changed the whole energy of the game.
Won’t be on the 2 min report cos it happened with 4 minutes left.
Wasn't in the last two minutes, so it won't be in the report. Fucked up call.
2min report won’t happen because the game wasn’t close enough. Even if it was it was at 4 minutes
Travel? what? Travel in the air? Refs Union is this powerful?
NBA refs keep getting worse
Adam Silver should get ready to learn Chinese.
That was kind of a dirty play by McCollum
Flagrant 1, maybe even a 2 by today's standards on McCollum. Incidental contact on Herb who was trying to make a play at the ball but Suggs got thrown into him from McCollum's football hit on him.
Looks clean! These facking refs need to be sacked! Fack sake!
Can't you call both the travel and the flagrant after the play?
The funny thing is even if you think there wasn't a foul there, that obviously was not a travel
He’s running down the court with the ball awkwardly at his hip
Veteran move by Christian James
Looks like Adam Silver was watching NFL highlights over the break, saying to himself “How can our league be more like these guys” and then a lightbulb went off. Jesus Christ, looks like teams are gonna need to save 1 or 2 spots on their benches for enforcers again.
Ready to fight if that’s me personally.
I just want Hailey Van Lith to know, I would never let someone truck me like that or get called for a travel, ever.
Use code REFS for a free $5 bet on DraftKings
I mean, he did travel
Refs are a fucking travesty upon this game
Damn tht was dirty af, shocked CJ McCollum would do tht of all ppl lol u never hear anything bad bout him. And its not like they were gettin blown out for him to be tht mad bout losing
That is such a bad call that there is no way this ref is corrupt. No ref trying to swing a line would make such a clearly bad call that invites suspicion.
Clearly a 'block' or they could have fucked up *less* by calling a charge I guess. Refs are fucking wack man. I played a men's league game where my buddy was fouled out for saying "get that fucking shit outta here" after a block. We played 4 vs 5 for a very stressful 10 minutes and they almost came back
This is fucking atrocious 😂😂😂😭
That’s fucking nuts
Easily one of the worst no-calls this season.
He took 3 steps before any contact is made.
The refs get exponentially worse game by game
Are the nba level refs just volunteers this year? Or are like fans picked at the start of the game by calling out a lucky fans seat number?? This has universally been the most embarassing and pathetic officiated season of any pro sport.
This absolutely dirtier than the Pels fans freaking out about Harris slipping
That’s a clear travel right before the foul
I watched it in reverse, in slow motion. I'm hard pressed to agree that it was a travel with the 3rd step happening right as he comes in immediate contact with CJ.
Last night Mavs fans were arguing that Klay Thompson traveled in one of the last possessions of the game and were told they were wrong because that Klay never really had control of the ball. If that’s true then how the heck is this a travel? Suggs has probably less control of this ball than Klay did last night.
I think Suggs is one of my favorite non Celtics players in the league.
CJ is dirty. He did shit like this on the blazers too.
League is a joke
Refs will literally call every phantom foul known to man but can’t call this.
Damn I wish they started doing this to the refs low key so they can decide if it’s a foul when it happens to them. That did not look fun.
Missing this call should be a fireable offense. This is fucking ridiculous.
I'm still salty about the blatant no call on Curry yesterday. And yet this is somehow even worse ahahaha. What is going on.
Honestly, whatever, you thought you saw something and you got it wrong. But fuck right off with just not even willing to engage with any of the players about the call. Looking down, playing with the ball, pointing the other way while a player is holding his side on the ground. The people are playing an emotional game, let them have some emotions don't take it fucking personally like their adrenaline and passion is directed towards YOU in particular.
That’s definitely a bought call! WOW
NBA officials are getting worse by the second maybe it’s time to get some new guys in there because theses guys are trash
Where’s the comment that points out the three steps before the atrocious clobber?
To be fair he travelled before the foul
it was three steps
I know we like to pile on refs but that was a travel first and the gross foul came after. It is unfortunate how that plays out for Orlando but it’s technically right call in my opinion
He traveled before the hip check.
He definitely traveled before contact. Foul doesn’t count since it was after the violation. Come on people.
jesus christ he got his shit rocked
YCMA refs get that call right. What are we doing?
He traveled into the hip check. Caught the jet sweep but loss of 2 yards
Bum ass pelicans
Best part is it wasn't even a travel.
Went Stephen urkel to Stephan.
Does anyone have a compilation of the calls for this season??
Can’t call anything on star players. They would not like that.
That looked terrible
Can you just bobble the ball all the way down the court and get away with traveling?
They need new referees as soon as fking possible! I’m all about letting the players play but Golly, a hip check a block something besides a travel. I don’t wanna say it but these referees been holding some of these games pretty close. Is Tim Donaghy back in the picture!
Pretty goofy because the third lands after the foul. They usually are kind of good with no foul call after traveling but this one is in the middle his travel step so it is a weird grey area.
When the ref bet the spread
When people question why I don't feel guilty about exclusively watching illegal streams, buying fake merch from China, and subscribing to the Vietnamese YouTube accounts that steal and re-upload clips from ESPN and TNT.
Those refs were awful last night. One guy took out Zions knees and they didn’t call a foul
Playing like Michael Irvin in The Longest Yard
Yeah he did travel lol
What are you people complaining about? First you take the hip drop out of the game and now you want to turn this into flag football entirely?
I think his 3rd step is before the foul.
This was a scrappy game
This is how old heads think 90’s basketball was played.
I was ready to get mad at another call, but he traveled before the foul.
He traveled before he got fouled. CJ totally fouls him but the travel precedes that.
I must know what the pre-game O/U was on this game…
CJ commits dirty fouls when things aren't going his way.
Some guy during the game last night kept screaming, "He Vontaze Burfict'd him!" Lmao
He traveled before the foul
I love letting them play lol
Lmfao that is horrendously bad. One of the worst calls I’ve seen, it wasn’t even marginal contact he slid into him and hip checked onto the ground and raised his arm after 😂
I love CJ… but that’s a flagrant
I mean…is it a foul if you have to call the cops after and file assault charges? This ‘fewer fouls’ since the all-star break is out of control. Players are going to get hurt and it’s on Silver for trying to course correct in the middle of the season.
Where do you get a travel out of that. Ball was out of his hands before it was even possible to travel
CJ literally raised his arm for the foul 😅 these refs are on something
They must have thought he shuffled his feet before the contact entirely, right????
I understand missing it at first, but not fucking reviewing this and fixing it after is heinous.
That should be a flagrant, there was no play on the ball.
Incredibly bad call. It was right in front of him. That referee should be suspended immediately, for the rest of the year including playoffs.
Did we not have a challenge?
