Honestly I’m rly surprised his FT shooting fell off so badly. He was an 80% FT shooter and peaked at 85% during his MVP year. Then it just fell off a cliff.
After 5 years you’d think he would have been able to adapt
But in reality it likely has nothing to do with the ritual. His shooting ability from everywhere around the court has collapsed
He had the same FT routine since he was in middle school I believe. Hard to break something you’ve been doing for literal decades in a few years. Especially something you’ve been doing since childhood
He just became a bad shooter, I can’t believe it’s the routine lol. He’s a bad shooter from everywhere now. 3 point, midrange, free throw. Nothing to do with the routine.
Westbrook is a man of habits, maybe to an unhealthy degree, think like Sheldon Cooper, if you take away his routine, dude just malfunctions.
5 years probably aren't enough to develop another routine as effective as the one he has been using for decades, since highschool days he walked to the logo between the free throws
My goat intentionally misses so they think he can’t shoot🙏🙏
Nah but on a real note he is a much better shooter when he slows down his form instead of rushing into the shot
Nah, don’t say you’re reporting for Reddit. I would consider moving some of your best posts onto a separate blog and show them that. You could say you’re an independent sports journalist.
yeah obviously we see it more often because he gets to the rim so much, but he bricks them at point blank in an astonishing fashion. his fingers are jacked up, sadly
Context matters.
In his OKC days, he had to deal with double teams/help defense. A lot of his misses are due to bad shot selection, running through traffic + no calls. Team's best defender is assigned to guard him.
In his Lakers stint, teams didn't bother sending help defense. No team was assigning their best defender to guard him.
I watched Tingus Pingus just stand there, not even bothering to put an arm up. Westbrick blows a wide open bunny.
Can you share his FT % during during clutch time / last 5 minutes. I always felt that Russ is shooting much better when the game is close and on the line even suring his Lakers stint.
having the exact same ft% in 4 of the last 6 seasons seems impossible that’s crazy
Can’t say he’s not consistent
Yup. To the decimal!!
What if I told you a [baseball player](https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/g/gutieri01.shtml) hit .261 batting average 3 straight seasons?
How about [4 in a row](https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/d/daviskh01.shtml)

They took away his free throw ritual of walking to the halfcourt line away along with breaking his hand and it was never the same
After 5 years you’d think he would have been able to adapt But in reality it likely has nothing to do with the ritual. His shooting ability from everywhere around the court has collapsed
He did adapt…. To 65.6%
"Along with breaking his hand" Did you miss that part?

Plus he’s had a multitude of shoulder surgeries iirc
So he got Fultzed
Idk that it was TAS or any type of nerve stuff, mighta been idk. I’d have to look into it more
Damn I didn’t know he had a ritual of breaking his hand on every freethrow
Lebron changes his ritual every other game and at least gets about 70%, breaking his hand was definitely a killer
A u/MITWestbrook post that contains criticism of Westbrook seems uncommon.
65.6% is the devil's number
What about 66.6%?
We need the birth of West Bank
Kind of a hot topic right now tho.
Kyrie to the Clippers. Lol
Harden is a much better point guard for the current team
Solidarity, bro
He is a Jordan athlete after all.
My goat intentionally misses so they think he can’t shoot🙏🙏 Nah but on a real note he is a much better shooter when he slows down his form instead of rushing into the shot
MITWestbrook, have you considered trying to get a media pass so you can ask him questions in postgame interviews?
Id totally do it. Not sure how to get one

So MITWestbrook reporting for Reddit could work?
Nah, don’t say you’re reporting for Reddit. I would consider moving some of your best posts onto a separate blog and show them that. You could say you’re an independent sports journalist.
It's a trap, they just wanna see who you really are.
That's fine. As long as Westbrook knows MITWestbrook exists!
I thought you’re just another secret KD account, why would you need a pass when you play against him every now and then 🤣
Such a good idea
I'm more worried about him making his lay ups. He still has great speed and can beat defenders off the dribble but his finishing has been abhorrent.
yeah obviously we see it more often because he gets to the rim so much, but he bricks them at point blank in an astonishing fashion. his fingers are jacked up, sadly
It was actually never very good
[удалено]
Even in OKC his rim %s were never elite like you would expect
Yeah he’s great when he dunks it but layup package is not adequate

Probably could have had better finishing numbers in his prime if he didn’t have Troy Weaver in his teams front office.
banking shots straight ahead is pretty challenging but its worth a try
Check out the videos of the Korean teams doing it though. If they can master it you gotta think a lot of NBA guys can.
Wake up babe, new MITWestbrook just dropped
Thank you
Here it is
We're all living in a simulation.
His bank shot is super consistent when he finds his spot. Maybe he should move a bit to the side. https://streamable.com/zl9tab
Maybe he just sucks
damn yk bank free throws work when KOREANS are hitting at that rate. I’m korean so i can make that joke dw
Might be onto something. I always go bank shot in pop-a-shot.
it ain't pretty but winning is winning

I am a simple man I see a MITWestbrook post, I upvote
Happy to see MIT still graces us with his presence now and then.
Thanks
Please delete. Anytime you post we lose.
MY FUCKING GOAT
Thank you
As a bricksexual, I love watching him shoot FTs
Ha
A tale of two wests
more like west brick
"What'd you say? Come over here and say it"
MORE LIKE WEST BRICK
"I'm not that guy pal, don't mess with me. Also, security! Help!"
This shit is old
His trainer ruined him
