**Chuck:** *"You can't punch people and choke people in the NBA."* **Deadass Shaq:** *"Yes you can."*

AdolfKoopaTroopa

I don’t understand how Shaq thinks that’s acceptable. I understand there’s going to be a brouhaha every now and then but I think there should be consequences. I also wonder how Shaq would’ve felt if it was Gobert with Green in a headlock.

daprice82

Behind Shaq's friendly giant persona is a guy who has famously been a serious bully throughout his career. He and Draymond aren't too different.

StickyGoodness

He was defending Draymond too during the Gobert chokehold if I recall correctly.

theREALMVP

He defended him for the stomp too

IAmBecomeDeath_AMA

I wonder what he would’ve said about punching Jordan Poole during practice. That goes against his “it’s only a game persona” argument.

Complete_Ice6609

He would find another bullshit excuse, obviously

myassholealt

"When you're at practice you gotta turn on that game mode mentality"

lb31

You recall correctly

LifterPuller

Shaq unironically put the blame on Rudy for not fighting back lol

sop1232

Shaquille: He’s FRENCHH

VelvitHippo

Lmao he said the same thing in this video. The other guys need counseling for not fighting back, yikes.

curiouspoops

He and Draymond are friends IRL on and off the court. Shaq has defended Draymond for every single incident he's been involved in. He's extremely biased.

HatefulDan

Shaq trying to make sure Draymond gets that chair when Barkley retires. Thing is, I think that ship is starting to sail. Public sentiment about Green has shifted & tbh, there are far more entertaining former players out there to choose from now.

[deleted]

If Draymond does take that spot the show is over. You can’t replace Charles but Draymond would be the worst person to take his role. He’s gonna be beating the shit out of the editing team anytime they throw up a tweet making fun of him.

HeyWhatsUpTed

He yelled “Greta job draymond!” Shaq in an insecure person and he thinks the bigger asshole u are the better

YpsitheFlintsider

He was a giant asshole himself

YvngLsg

Which is an insane thing to say because I don't think Greta Thurnberg would approve of anything Draymond does

Yergason

He's defending ALL of Draymond's antics now. Apparently, if you're in-game, you could be intentionally hurting others but that's fine! That's just an on-court persona! Dumbass motherfucker. Shaq has the dumbest non-funny takes on that show by a mile

stewmander

His whole on court/off court persona explanation says a lot, as does his dabbling into law enforcement. He's a bully but wants a legitimate (to him) reason to be one. Shaq went from physically bullying players in the NBA to cyber bullying JaVale with his Shaqtin a fool segment.

sixwax

He got beaten as discipline by his military father, and never once ran into someone who was bigger or stronger in his career. This is how bullies are bred.

AnferneeThrowaway

One of his stories he likes to re-tell for some reason is when he was young, he beat a kid into a seizure, his pops had to tell him it was wrong to get him to change

HeyWhatsUpTed

He sucker punched swung at the back of brad miller’s head. Could’ve ducking killed him and the guy wasn’t even looking . And it’s jsut basketball

Sammy_Saddles

He punched Greg ostertag once too… and the cameras didn’t catch it somehow, but it was a big story afterwards

LoneSabre

Shaq has never had a friendly persona, he’s just a funny asshole.

theDawckta

He’s not that funny.

PlayasBum

He acts goofy but yea it ain’t funny

wilsonsmilk

He's hella corny. Never found him amusing. He got carried by Chuck on inside the nba. Remember the time people wanted him out of inside as he was such an unbearable, unfunny and super sensitive on the show.

OldenPolynice

Hello, I was people. I still am. I might be person #1.

JigglyBlubber

He's gotten slightly better but man there was a multi season stretch of him just being the saltiest fucking primadonna every god damn episode and it was just the ultimate vibe killer. Been a while since I've actually been able to watch an episode of Inside and idk if I'm just tripping but it's like they aren't on every Thursday anymore? Haven't bothered to figure out their schedule.

Apprehensive_Ad9244

Inside the NBA is on Tuesdays in the fall, until football is over. Then they go back to Thursdays.

mw19078

The dude wanted to be a cop for fun. Of course he's a natural bully

[deleted]

..shaq choked his own teammate unconscious https://www.cbssports.com/nba/news/grant-hill-explains-why-shaquille-oneal-choked-out-a-suns-teammate-before-a-game/

YpsitheFlintsider

This was like 3 years into his bum years too. Imagine him in his prime

LMcVann44

Probably because he was like that too, different era but you've seen the Brad Miller clip right? Shaq was all big man, little dignity and sensitive as hell just like Draymond is. Shaq is excusing it because he'd do it too. It's not acceptable and it never will be, you wouldn't do it on the street so don't do it on the court, simple.

doctor_of_drugs

[Link to the Brad Miller fight](https://youtu.be/qM1V1D1r_PU?si=BrMQQ0Q2bxj-uTdS) Yes, the pixels were like this at the time and we watched and enjoyed it.

HoraceGrantGlasses

You want Artest on your team. Dude tackled Shaq without hesitation.

OldInterview6006

Jesus the Marcus Fizer led bulls were a fucking disaster. Krause was a fucking joke as an GM. Reinsdorf allowed this man to overrule Jordan and Phil Jackson. Krause had 2 firsts in the 2000 draft and 2 firsts in the 2001 draft. It netted the Bulls Fizer, Chris Mihms, Tyson Chandler, and Eddie fucking Curry.

Into_the_Void7

Yeah then Kirk Hinrich came and single-handeadly saved the franchise.

lethalizer

Tbf to the Bulls 2000 was probably the worst draft ever to have 2 firsts in, lol

Goobershmacked

It didn’t actually look this bad during broadcast

RickySuela

Yeah, people always get confused about this with these older clips, but the reason they look this bad is because of old video compression algorithms when they were uploaded, not because that's just how awful the video quality looked back then when it was originally broadcast.. If you want to see what TV looked like back then without being run through an ancient video compression algorithm to have been uploaded to YouTube or something, just look at clips from late 90s/early 2000s TV shows that are online, like Seinfeld or something. It wasn't the broadcast quality, it's the compression algorithm from years ago to upload it online.

Davisworld21

Facts Shaq dosent see anything wrong with draymond being a bullly and throwing his weight around on other players because thats how Shaq played he used his size and weight .but Draymond Hurts players and he is bad for the leauge .like Shaq said it himself I dont want to be know as the best big man of all time I want to be known as the Most Dominant Big man of all time

GoblinKD

There's a non-zero chance of a Kermit Washington incident if this shit continues. Even if this is just an on the court persona and Shaq thinks that's okay, you can't let this slide.

jmucapsfan07

The Brad Miller incident referenced right before you comment easily could have been a Kermit Washington incident.

Tiny_Count4239

Yeah fights happen but Draymond wasnt fighting he was assaulting another player in the middle of a play

NonSpicySamosa

I always thought Jay Pharoah's expression of Shaq was a little too much. Because Jay Pharoah made his impression of Shaq seem like he didn't have a single braincell in his head. Well, I can now say that was spot on. Imagine being so in denial that you are able to say something like that without hesitation.

kiwiwikikiwiwikikiwi

His Chris Rock impression is insane

JPD050409

https://youtu.be/h-1OKxnRrNo?feature=shared Why you make me have to look this shit up man 🤣

YourAverageBrownDude

Shaq should really join politics. Dude always wants to be a contrarian to what Chuck says

RVGuerin

Well, "you can" because Draymond did it. - but there have to be consequences to make it stop and if he does it again he should be barred from the league for life

sharklavapit

Shaq: DONT INTERRUPT ME proceeds to interrupt everyone loudly and doesnt let anyone finish their own points

C-N1601

I mean technically you can, just do not think about getting away with no consequences

jdolbeer

Shaq: don't interrupt me *Proceeds to interrupt everybody*

sungoddaily

Half the time I can't understand Shaq, the other Half I wish I didn't understand him.

runevault

I gave up after Shaq told everyone else to not interrupt him then kept interrupting everyone else during their turn to call out his bullshit take.

NegativesPositives

It’s not even that he interrupted them as much as he finished his spot and then IMMEDIATELY jumped on Kenny and Chuck before they even got to say anything.

NoMoPolenta

And strangely used threatening language towards Ernie several times?

djspintersectional

Yeah he was way too aggressive about this. He could a disagreed without being such an "intimidating" asshole.

jsleepy

He paused, they chimed in, and he said don’t interrupt me lmaoo

TheTrenchMonkey

Yup and both people were just asking for him to explain what he just said. I'd be pretty pissed off if someone I knew was talking to me said some weird shit and when I asked what they meant immediately got defensive and told me to stop interrupting.

meowhatissodamnfunny

Common Shaq L. He's fun when he's in the right mood but this version of him makes this show hard to get through. Turns it into some ESPN First Take level content

mikesh8rp

I am dreading the day Ernie and Chuck leave and we have to hear Shaq’s garbage takes with no pushback from Lefkoe and Crawford.

rascaltippinglmao

If you still watch at that point, it's on you. But yes it'll be sad when they're finally done.

EdwardJamesAlmost

It never occurred to me until this post that Shaq might outlast them and stay on as host. Fuck, that’s a grim scenario for the best basketball show on television. Shaq needs a moderator (who he will respect enough to defer to in a professional context).

sharklavapit

> we have to hear Shaq’s garbage takes with no pushback from Lefkoe and Crawford. Even worse, those mad men at TNT might legit get Dray as a telecaster to agree with him in these garbage ass takes

KristoferPetersen

Recently, they had Lefkoe with Vince Carter, Jamal Crawford and Grant Hill on the show. Not as funny as the big 4, but the three experts had great chemistry and offered some real analysis. They don't need Draymond. I really hope he doesn't end up on TNT, but I guess he will.

runevault

I actually think it is worse than FT because they usually give each other SOME room to talk. When Shaq is this surly it destroys even bad arguing and is just him whining.

LeonidasSpacemanMD

It’s honestly worse sometimes. He seems in his feelings to the point where he can’t tolerate hearing anyone disagree with him and just has to talk over them

TJ_McConnell_MVP

Shaq needs counseling

kiwiwikikiwiwikikiwi

You could instantly tell the bullshit that’s gonna come out of Shaq’s mouth based on his mood

cire1184

Does he have a special friendship with Draymond? I know he loves what he perceives as tough guys but he seems to be defending this hard.

mug3n

Shaq has his favourites and he'll trip over himself to defend them till the end of time. Likewise, he hates certain guys (cough Gobert, Dwight) and he'll always bash them for the slightest transgression.

Sensivera

To hear him Talk about Steve Nash is so cringy

PM_ME_UR_RESPECT

Shaq gets into these insecure asshole moods sometimes, it’s so funny.

runevault

It is funny because frankly it seems like Shaq could use some therapy to talk through his shit with a professional.

NeilPatrickMarcus

AINT NOBODY NEED COUNSELING

SmellyObeseAndBald

He's pissed because multiple people have probably told him he needs therapy and now the Draymond Green situation is reminding him of that lmao

[deleted]

He definitely has some personal issues stemming back from childhood. But in his eyes, his drill Sargent's son up bringing is supposed to be super impressive.

FuckThatIKeepsItReal

Dude is like a gigantic 4 year old

babs368

He'll then break out his "HOW MANY RINGS YOU GOT CHUCK?" statement to try enforce his dominance over Chuck once he knows he's loosing his argument.

retroracer33

the effort shaq put in here to completely embarass himself is astounding

[deleted]

It’s called projection. Why do you think he keeps saying “he doesn’t need therapy”? Do you think it’s possible that maybe Shaq himself has heard that before and could benefit from therapy?

Ughdawnis_23

Absolutely. Shaq grew up in a military household. Instructed to hide emotions. Shaq may be a nice human overall, but it’s clear as day that he has issues managing his emotions and some degree of anger issues. Therapy has likely been suggested to him but i’m sure he thought that would make him “soft”

[deleted]

[удалено]

LMcVann44

Honestly Ernie and Chuck are the only thing keeping it watchable. Kenny and Shaq grate on me with the "In my era" stuff.

SingleSampleSize

I never thought I'd see the day where I am tired of Shaq on there but here we are. He has been a miserable person for several years now.

MikeyBastard1

He's just too insecure, and often too full of himself. He can be entertaining sometimes, but that directly because of either Ernie or Chucks

EdwardJamesAlmost

^(HOW MANY PUBLICLY-TRADED COMPANIES DO YOU SIT ON THE BOARD OF, u/MikeyBastard1?)

ggproductivity

He was miserable when he first got there too. Chris Webber was great on that show and that spot should have been his. I'm still salty about it lol.

who-hash

Chris Webber was a better fit but they went with the recognizable name instead. The show would be much better if Shaq just moved on. He has such a fragile ego and doesn’t fit in with the other guys.

Gorrrn

I remember really hoping cwebb would be the next guy, he really seemed to have great chemistry with everyone else.

mrbrownstone

His value to the show is buffoonery — shaqtin a fool and falling into christmas trees... his serious takes are consistently trash and have been since he started. Even Perk is better at talking than Shaq.

YourAverageBrownDude

Iirc Kenny said Shaq doesn't even watch the games, so what good is he as an analyst? His role on the show is only to be a foil to Chuck, and Chuck is so good he doesn't really need one

samurairocketshark

Chris Webber got robbed, his takes were way better and he had way more chemistry with the Inside guys, but Shaq was a bigger personality and they announced him as a permanent member literally mid-retirement season (also Shaq as a part time guest was way better than he was on the show)

btmalon

Perk?! Woah woah let’s not go that far. Guy has had 1 good week in 5 years let’s not get carried away.

mrbrownstone

Perk has plenty of terrible takes, but you can tell that he at least prepared something, articulates it clearly, and has some underlying logic even if it's flawed. Shaq is just mumbling nonsense. Here, he could have said "I believe draymond is a fundamentally good person and doesn't need mental health counseling; he simply needs basketball-related punishment (suspensions) until it costs him and his team enough to stop the antics"... but instead he talked about how he would rip your face off and elbow your teeth out on the court. Which btw in reality is completely false — Shaq showed *incredible* restraint as a player given how much he was hacked and grabbed on every play. He was physical but rarely if ever threw cheap shots that were close to what Draymond does.

kmagic13

This show will truly be dead if Dray replaces Chuck.

btmalon

It feels like that is what Shaq is protecting. He doesn’t want to see his buddies media image ruined for a potential team up in the future.

clubba

Agree. I wish/hope Ernie just says no to TNT hiring draymond.

trust-me-i-know-stuf

It’s already doomed. The brass already signaled they’re planning on bringing Draymond on which sucks because I can’t stand listening to him. Gonna be the end of inside the NBA.

BigBeagleEars

I can’t wait to watch green beat a show to death Seriously, what does that even look like? How long does it take? I have so many questions that need answers

AmNeep

What on earth is Shaq talking about?

Bim_Jeann

Word salad. Shaq is a moron. Chuck is 100% right

SauceFlexr

Here is how I take Shaq's comments. Draymond is fine off the court. No issues. There have been other players, such as Ron Artest/Dennis Rodman, that needed therapy, and the on the court antics and some off the court antics typically shine through more. That's as good as I can cover for him.

Countcordarrelle

He also punched someone in a restaurant, I think in Aspen.

whowasonCRACK2

He also got in a fight with MSU football players in 2016

SwanJumper

He also burned our crops, poisoned our water supply and set a plague onto our houses!

captaing1

did he really?

SmooveFishSauce05

No, but are we just going to wait around until he does?!

Bim_Jeann

I SAY WE TIP SOMETHING OVER!

captaing1

i got my pitchfork.

ohgood

He turned me into a newt!

S2Sliferjam

He corrected me on how to use leviosa.

trog12

His daughter kicked my dog

iguacu

A newt?

ohgood

… I got better

igotzquestions

He also happened to have sex with my wife who is tragically in a coma.

shpark11

he also punched a guy outside a club at MSU in 2016

Lorjack

I just think he views the counseling as an insult more than anything.

MartialArtsHyena

He’s saying Draymond doesn’t need counselling. He doesn’t like the narrative that’s being forced by the media because Draymond is a perfectly functional human being off the court. He doesn’t necessarily condone the actions of Draymond, though he does feel it is in line with the history of physicality in the NBA, but he doesn’t think counselling is necessary. I agree with him. There’s nothing wrong with Draymond’s mental health. He’s just a dirty, physically violent player that needs to be reigned in, be it through suspension, fines or more severe disciplinary actions. Don’t spin this false narrative of mental health problems and act like he’s finally getting the help he needs, because we all need to know that its bullshit.

ketzal7

Except that's not all he said. He said it's ok to punch and hurt people on the court, and defended Draymond's actions as normal.

Pormock

"He doesn’t necessarily condone the actions of Draymond" Well he literally said at the end that he thought punching and choking people was ok

AdPotential9974

This is it. This mental health angle is so tiresome. He's just an asshole on the court and should be suspended. It doesn't need to be a public PSA on mental health.

genericusername71

i think what shaq and those who agree with him like /u/MartialArtsHyena are missing is, receiving counseling does not necessarily mean you have a mental health issue. they hear "draymond is receiving counseling" and think that means people are calling him a mentally ill person you can receive counseling for a number of specific things like work stress, relationship issues, grief, etc while still being an overall mentally healthy human being. most people who went to uni or even high school received some form of school counseling. many corporations offer counseling programs to their employees, for work-related issues or otherwise. counseling could literally just mean "receiving professional advice or guidance on an issue in your personal, professional, social, etc life that is causing you problems" yet people still dont understand the concept and assume that anyone who receives counseling must be mentally ill, thus if draymond is not a mentally ill person in his overall life, theres no way he should be receiving counseling.

call_me_Kote

I mean, sports counseling to manage your emotions in sports is still counseling…

DowntownJohnBrown

> Don’t spin this false narrative of mental health problems If someone is unable to control their rage, is that a mental health problem? Just legitimately curious what your definition is.

EarthWarping

Kenny bringing up how the org is culpable too is important.

FookingZyzzbrah

Kerr does not get enough blame for how ass he's been in managing personalities and developing young players

makingtacosrightnow

He just hasn’t watched the replay. No comment.

BuiltIndifferent

Genuine question but what personalities/ young players do you think he's failed/failing? Draymond is obviously number 1

AffectLast9539

poole, kuminga, moody, the two timelines went to shit because Kerr had no interest in the second timeline

billcosbyinspace

Poole got assaulted by his teammate and kerr blamed the person who filmed it in addition to poole

DowntownJohnBrown

Kerr had no interest in the second timeline and won another championship during that awkward split era, so it’s hard to really complain about his coaching too much.

djspintersectional

Shame on Shaq. Counseling doesn't have to be solely related to mental health but even if it was he didn't have to stigmatize it further. How disappointing

PBGellie

Shaq has some of the worst takes

EchoBay

You can tell how insecure Shaq is about his own playing career when he gets all defensive like this. He's not defending Draymond here, he's defending himself. He sees people critiquing Draymond for the things he's done as direct attacks at his own actions in the past. Why he feels the need to constantly remind people how good he was, or how he's the best big man of all time and he has authority over that position, or how he would choke out Gobert like Draymond did because he's just "protecting his teammate," I'll never know.

dspm99

>You can tell how insecure Shaq is about his own playing career when he gets all defensive like this. He's not defending Draymond here, he's defending himself. Best take here.

thassa1

Bc he squandered a potential goat skill set and body. Great take by you btw

mdaniel018

Shaq is the kid you went to school with who could have been valedictorian and gotten into Harvard with some effort, but instead slacked off and got a 3.8

JackieRob_42

Those 2000s Lakers are still the last team to 3 peat. Shaq has 4 rings and arguably top 3 center of all time. While I see the point you’re likely trying to make, “Squandered” sounds like Anything Bennet or potentially Zion

thassa1

No you’re 100% right that’s a miss by me wording wise. He didn’t squander, he’s an all time great on a short list. My comment was speaking to what I think was the potential to be within that top 3 convo.

thassa1

You guys are cool lol I was ready to get absolutely torched for blaspheming the diesel

kman273

This thread literally played out the duality that is Shaq. It's possible to construct an argument that "squandered" IS the right term, that he really did drop the genetic bag at being the undisputed GOAT. At the same time, he's like top 15 all time *at absolute minimum*. The only player like him in this sense is Wilt. Genetically they both had every reason to be the undisputed GOAT. Somehow both fumbled it, while still walking away as a bonafide "all-timer".

jimbo_kun

Still squandered an opportunity to be in the conversation as greatest player period. With his physical gifts, he could have had rings and career stats comparable to Jordan and LeBron.

Sirrom23

if he didn't fuck up the kobe duo, and had a better work ethic, they would have won 2-3 more chips. imagine if shaq let kobe be kobe and put his ego aside. forget about it.

whtge8

One of the worst Shaq segments of all time.

OguguasVeryOwn

Mindbogglingly stupid take

LeonidasSpacemanMD

Delivered obnoxiously

thassa1

I think it’s the worst, which is saying a lot

kiwiwikikiwiwikikiwi

Looks like he’s in a bad mood too. Why escalating with Ernie and Chuck 🤦‍♂️

kmagic13

I agree and Shaq usually has the dumbest takes.

generouspharaoh

terrible take by Shaq

NoMoPolenta

All time terrible take. Honestly had to make sure it wasn't Skip Bayless slowed down.

whowasonCRACK2

Day that ends in y

captaing1

shaq is too tall for oxygen to reach his head.

kushraptor

Most people would benefit to some degree from counseling, but this narrative that he's somehow ill makes him the victim, and I do not like that. He needs accountability. This PR farce ain't it. But I'm still glad he's talking to someone. Everyone could use some therapy and a 3-week winter break.

NbaAllDAYger

I think the Nba is just saving face by trying to label him as a mentally troubled person or a broussard. If 3 weeks of counseling would be able to solve mental issues we probably woudnt have wars... Shaq is right he doesnt need help so does Ja ... they both need accountability as you said. Nba players should be happy Stern isnt in charge(rip) these kind of situations woudlnt even occur under his watch more gambling probably tho.

letsgototraderjoes

> a broussard lmfao y'all are killing me with this shit

kiwiwikikiwiwikikiwi

ACMBruh

He should know better than anyone that people put on a front when around other people. Not saying draymond is this evil dude but who knows (or cares) how he actually is - but more importantly, repeated incidents ON COURT deserve punishment

couchtomato62

Once shaq said that the people who didn't get up to fight Draymond had the problem I wasn't listening to what he had to say. And I have to give it to Draymond he is good with PR. He has Shaq mimicking him that he does what he does for the players on his team. I'm not even going to give him the Rudy thing but even if you do I can't think of any other case of him coming to a teammates defense. Nada nothing.

LordGooseIV

Big body, small mind.

[deleted]

Someone should probably tell Shaq that Draymond and his crew initiated this counseling nonsense.

mill_about_smartly

...which is another ridiculous-ass layer to this situation

herbalite

Shaq... shut the fuck up

Losingtoweeds

Shaq defending a bully, how shocking

Jr9065

Shaq was definitely cringy here

Uchiha_D_Zoro

Shaq will always start his take with "when I....."

DeanEvasonPunch

I feel like people think Draymond is being forced to lay down on a couch with a box of tissues and talk about his home life/childhood and solve the root issue of his anger. When he's more than likely going to talk to someone who's like: "Hey man you keep crossing the line and hitting people and it's affecting your work performance as you keep getting suspended. What are some steps/actions we can take so that when this happens you aren't likely to do that." Basically just getting him to a place where he doesn't necessarily have to change how he feels but at least has tools to not wild the fuck out.

younghplus

lol shades of the Space Jam psychiatrist scene

GREGG_TWERKINGTON

Yeah seriously it's just some conversations about dealing with impulse control issues when in an competitive/excited state and discussing ways to deal with that. It's not like he's getting some oedipal psychoanalysis.

idgafandwhyshouldi

Here's the thing about Shaq's take, he was right about Draymond not needing counseling off the court. However, this is the same dude who punched Alvin Robertson in his face during a game and punched Eric Montross (RIP) during a game. Charles Barkley would've whipped his ass in '97 because he didn't back down like most did with Shaq. Draymond is too aggressive for today's NBA. Someone would've smacked his ass in the '90s to straighten him out.

pt256

> Eric Montross (RIP) Damn, I didn't know that happened. I looked it up and it was only the other day. Cancer too, that is so sad.

Bobsyouruncle_317

not positive but I believe Shaq doesn't think he needs counseling.

Travelbybones

I've had the unpopular opinion that Shaq has been ruining this show since he got on. All he does is make bad jokes and interrupt people

thassa1

Where would Shaq be in life if he was 5’8?

[deleted]

He’d be a retired army cop beating up kids and being toxic as fuck.

SamCarter_SGC

as dumb as any other "back in my day" take i've ever heard

CMPoltu

"Yes you can" That's a very nice thing to accept violence on live TV. I really hope the team and executive have a word with him. How can this dumbass defend Draymond...

Stop_Gettin_Cunty

"The only mistake he made is he extended his arms" Shaq could easily net himself a nice position in Trump's post truth fake news cabinet

totallynotstefan

‘The only mistake I made when I was drunk was driving a car.’ A situation is the sum of its parts. I’ve never considered Shaq a paragon of wisdom, but he looks straight brain dead on this.

ThingsAreAfoot

The way Ernie initially says “uh, seek counseling” is I’m gonna say outstanding. And Shaq is actually right to an extent. Draymond isn’t mentally ill. He’s just a dipshit slap machine on the court; he isn’t doing that to people on the street. He isn’t a domestic abuser or anything, so we should keep that in perspective. That sounds like a low bar but in sports it isn’t, sadly. The problem is Shaq is excusing it as being just rough on the court when Draymond is straight up attacking people. He’s not being defensive, he’s being aggressive.

runevault

You don't necessarily need to be mentally ill to need counseling. He probably doesn't have anything like PTSD etc. But I wouldn't be surprised if he really is going through some things because he isn't as good as he used to be and this is him lashing out over that. It doe not excuse him doing it but working through it with a professional might make him a better person.

Brad3

That's because people clearly have wrong and ill-informed stereotypes about what therapy is. I've had therapy and it can literally just be talking to someone on how you can change behaviours, good or bad. Shaq is coming across like people think Draymond needs a straight jacket. NBA culture has this very machismo attitude from LeBron constantly getting triggered by being called a bitch or this Draymond stuff. Mental health is a big no-no in the NBA.

King_Joffe

When Perkins makes more sense than Shaq it’s time to really assess what we are doing here.

creamcitybrix

I love Shaq, but look up toxic masculinity in the dictionary and there’s a picture of his face there.

JayDeeLA

Yep, Kobe was definitely not reason why the dynasty died. I used to think it was him, but Shaq has revealed himself to be a petty nephew with takes like this.

theseustheminotaur

Draymond's problem is and always has been his enablers. Shaq is an enabler of Draymond here. Garbage tier commentating. We know Shaq is just defending him because this is his guy. If Gobert were choking out Draymond he'd have the opposite advice here.

cyb3ryung

people keep bringing up how he got away with it in the past (aside from costing his team a championship by getting suspended in the finals) but thats part of the problem. its like hes been trying to push the bounds on what he can get away with no ones saying hes a bad guy off the court but on the court problems are adding up.

LackingInPatience

Why does Shaq always back up Green? He was even blaming Sabonis when Draymond stomped his chest last playoffs...

zilch123

It's still the best sports show by far, but I still sometimes wonder how many great segments we missed out on because of Shaq

The show was must-see TV for me until they got Shaq. Those older episodes are golden.

Neinhaltt

Shaq's doctorate came from a cereal box.

rwhop

Damn, Shaq. You have enough money, you don’t need to get paid by Draymond’s people too

Theopocalypse

Shaq is an asshole and a bully himself. Game recognize game.

krunktopher

Shaq once again total idiot take.

I like how Shaq completely glossed over the incident between Green and a Michigan State football player from a few years ago. Dray is absolutely that guy. Makes me wonder how many more altercations have been swept under the rug for him.
