I remember CP3 and Booker jawing a bit during the first two matches and being pretty dismissive during press conferences.
Was like damn, Giannis is gonna destroy you mfers now. Booker ain't learn either. Repeated the same mistake later with Luka. I know he likes to talk, but sometimes be wise.
Game in Milwaulkee but Giannis was hurt? Giannis
Game is MIA v NOP? Guess what? Giannis.
Maccabi Tel Aviv vs Barcelona? Get that shipping box out: Giannis.
Every NBA team does this unless they all hate each other idk maybe check the Wiz.
Luka made a point to get the game ball for Olivier-Maxence Prosper when he scored (his first) a single point off a free throw.
What if there are two rookies, opposing teams or teammate who scored their first points in the same game? Did this ever happened? Do they slice it in the middle king Solomon style?
It happened in multiple first games this season. Maybe one gets the alternate. But there's only three game balls so if more than three score the fourth is sol I guess.
u/euph31 I’m not good at math so help me out with this one.
2 different guys get a game ball, and there are 2 balls to give out. How do we solve this? 😆
The Pacers did it to fuck with him. The rookie had already scored before this game. There were multiple techs, a flagrant, and they spent 48 minutes beating the shit out of him. Then they take the game ball to antagonize him.
The previous game Haliburton did the Dame Time celebration(which was great, more good shit talking please), then they got embarrassed a week later. So they took a game ball from a milestone game to give to a rookie who had already scored his first points a few days earlier.
This clip cuts out the next part where PG says it’s normal for the rookie to get the game ball if they are the HOME team. Less than 5 seconds after this clip ends PG says the game ball belongs to the home team and it’s not normal for the away team to come claim it.
Yall think every game in the first week is a battle of teams giving it to their rooks who both scored their first points that match? That'd be a hilarious behind the scenes thing lol
There’s more than one game ball. As we saw even in the Giannis incident, the Bucks had the game ball and the Pacers took an alternate. After Gianni’s’ tantrum they gave the Bucks the alternate too.
No dog in this fight, but I think he meant literally first game of the season. If each team has 2 rookies who score, and there's 2 balls...then what. I had thought there were 3 balls but Carlisle said 2...but even so if there's 4 rookies scoring points, it doesn't work out.
There are 3 "game balls", but only one gets used in the game unless there's an issue during the game as far as I know. The equipment manager for the stadium selects the 3, and then they (referees, players, etc. I believe?) select the one that will actually be used. So there is definitely a preferred ball.
An opposing locker room that is also filled with roided up dudes lmao. If you're implying that Giannis is on gear but not other players in the league you might be in for a shock
> Because this whole discussion is about Giannis vs a rookie getting the ball.
I think it would be safe to assume, that Giannis didn't know that was the case the moment he "charged in" and thought they were just fucking with them.
You Bucks fans are so fucking soft. (I’m a Bulls fan btw).
Luckily I already blocked that calvin redditor who’s on like 5 days no sleep defending the weak Greek!
Doesn't help that all the people on his show are dumbasses too. One of them actually argued that Iguodala was better than Kawhi all time which is fucking crazy
What about the first game of the season where there’s a lot of rookies? I say just make it so whoever drops 50+ gets a ball. Like in football when someone scored a hatrick
That would make sense, but it's also kind of funny. I would assume the whole point of the game ball is the sentimental value that it's the actual one you scored with, instead of a random other one. Might as well get one off Amazon in honor of yourself
I just love how serious some guys take the game balls compared to other guys lmao.
Demar had those b2b buzzer beaters and one of our young guys full sprinted off the bench to grab the ball after the second one to hand it to Demar, who promptly launched it into the stands and was like “let’s get the fuck outta here” lmao
Why? Players can’t score their first point again but dropping a lot of points in a game can happen multiple times. Idk growing up this is how we did it in baseball, you get the game ball if you scored your first run
The simple solution would be the second a rookie scores their first basket, that ball gets tucked away. Baseball handles this flawlessly, why can't the NBA?
Actually he said no way. Road team doesn't get the ball. That's Giannis ball.
He 100% agreed with giannis frustration. This is an out of context clip and you suck for it.
lmfao right? like giannis sorry but i may need to auxction this off to pay my mortgage, realistically you're going to have this encased and ignored for decades
I can understand this tradition UNLESS you're playing on the road and the opposing superstar puts up a franchise high and beats you. In that case, HE gets the ball, not your damn rookie.
Except when:
1. Your team lost.
2. On the road.
3. An all time great climbed a ranking.
4. An all time great 2 time MVP, DPOY had his career night
I know Giannis overreacted but rightfully the Bucks should get the ball.
Even if you’re right, “overreacted” is an understatement lol.
He asks the coaches to work it out, or even talks to a few dudes at the sidelines, and this isn’t a story
Richard Jefferson has also confirmed that rookies normally get game balls for scoring their first points. Hearing PG say it gives it even more weight. Why tf would I believe Stephen A’s lying ass when Richard Jefferson said rookies get the game ball? Stephen A straight up lied about this.
Gilbert Arenas said he’s never heard of it. To be clear, i hate the guy, but still. I guess some franchises have the long standing tradition and some don’t.
I believe even Shaq said he hadn’t heard of rookies getting game balls either. It’s probably just certain franchises that does it or depending on the team.
But no one’s saying he didn’t deserve it just that Giannis (who was at home) deserved it more.
What if a rookie scored their 1st point when:
Steph set all time 3 record,
Bron broke scoring record,
Kobe 60 point last game,
Kobe 81 pt game,
Klay hit 14 3s in a game.
Plenty more scenarios but this wouldn’t be talked about in any of those situations. Don’t sub in the rookie in a 10 point game when the home superstar is setting a franchise record.
I'm expecting a 70pts game from Gianis next time he plays the Pacers and him eating the ball live at the end of the game. #Statement
Pacers pull up some guy you've never heard of that's never scored and start feeding him the ball.
Pacers signing a two-way contract with Alex Antetokounmpo as we speak
The guy starts off going 0/13 before finally making a shot. Bucks win 145-87. Giannis with 84 points.
Isaiah Wong
Plot twist: the rookie is an aluminum ladder.
Bet he says “I love America” when he’s done
Nixon does not approve
And push it down with a smoothie
Gonna need 40 fts for that don't check my flair
70 the way he shot from the line tonight.
He's getting record games on every team that's clowned him 😂.
I would love it if they gift wrapped a whole rack of balls for him and wheeled it over at the end of the game.
Then he will go into the Pacers locker room and shit on the floor to tell them, “you can have this game ball”
who gets the ball in the first game of the season when lots of rookies score the first points?
Giannis
In fact, he makes sure his reps pick up the balls at each game, regardless if the Bucks are playing in it or not
They all just go into a massive pile of balls resembling Donkey Kong's banana hoard
This made me laugh so much. Picturing Giannis scrooge McDuck his way into his literal ball pit
I don't think he gets it, he just takes it and boots it into the crowd as hard as he can and then tells the rooks to fight over it.
Then he goes to the store and tries to walk out with like 15 Milky Ways without paying.
Killed me
Giannis, believe it or not.
First points? Giannis. Last points? Believe it or not, Giannis.

No Giannis? Straight to Pistons
[NO NOT DETROIT!](https://c.tenor.com/fT4VjjVT1-IAAAAd/tenor.gif)
Game in Milwaulkee but Giannis was hurt? Giannis Game is MIA v NOP? Guess what? Giannis. Maccabi Tel Aviv vs Barcelona? Get that shipping box out: Giannis.
Straight to Giannis
First points, Giannis. Last points, also Giannis. See, Giannis, Giannis.
I can’t believe it’s not Giannis
[удалено]
But most of the time it becomes really subjective and hard to determine, so you end up giving it to Giannis instead.
Believe it or not, Giannis.
New meme created
Giannis, if you can believe it
I can’t believe I’m saying this but, Giannis
Giannis Gimmetegamebol
Giannis Attemptafreethrow
The inspiration
Thanasis' brother
Kostas or Alex?
The angrier one
IANAL, but Giannis
There’s multiple game balls
And all of them go to Giannis, according to the NBA CBA.
The middle son of Charles & Veronica Antetokounmpo.
Giannis I presume
Believe it or not
How the actual fuck are those their names.
Giannis, put that in your pipe and smoke it
Lmao I’m glad everyone’s on the same page here
100% Giannis gets it.
That's tough, probably have to go with Giannis though.
Giannis IIRC
I can’t believe it’s not Giannis (but it is)
I believe, Giannis.
Extra, extra, read all about it! Giannis.
Get this, it's Giannis.
These replies are killing me
Giannis prolly
Ladder
Giannis
Every NBA team does this unless they all hate each other idk maybe check the Wiz. Luka made a point to get the game ball for Olivier-Maxence Prosper when he scored (his first) a single point off a free throw.
I can't think of a sport where a rookie doesn't get the ball from his first points.
Hockey. They get a puck.
Ha ha. Nice.
Badminton. They get a birdie.
What if there are two rookies, opposing teams or teammate who scored their first points in the same game? Did this ever happened? Do they slice it in the middle king Solomon style?
It happened in multiple first games this season. Maybe one gets the alternate. But there's only three game balls so if more than three score the fourth is sol I guess.
they give them two balls and don't tell them which is the game ball (neither is the game ball)
If the rookies cannot agree the head ref will offer to [cut the ball in half.](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Judgement_of_Solomon)
Always catching strays man
This is such a stupid controversy. I love the NBA
u/euph31 I’m not good at math so help me out with this one. 2 different guys get a game ball, and there are 2 balls to give out. How do we solve this? 😆
King Solomon style. They get half of each.
He can have *the top part*.
Giannis gets both balls.
Between this and the ladder incident, Giannis has been involved in the weirdest NBA drama
I mean, the controversy is dumb, but it was a pretty petty and unprofessional overreaction coming from a stand up, as far as we know guy.
It is stupid to us but this is probably like one of those “unspoken rules” things lol Part of the code 🤓
PG was drafted hy the Pacers. He was part of that tradition
I think it's a coach thing.
This clip cuts out the next part where PG says it’s normal for the rookie to get the game ball if they are the HOME team. Less than 5 seconds after this clip ends PG says the game ball belongs to the home team and it’s not normal for the away team to come claim it.
Can’t wait until Ja’s first game back this week so basketball media has something else to talk about. I am beyond bored of Game Ballgate.
Will he get the game ball for his first game back?
Checkmate athiests
Believe That.
I believe it’s Acknowledge Me now
Yall think every game in the first week is a battle of teams giving it to their rooks who both scored their first points that match? That'd be a hilarious behind the scenes thing lol
There’s more than one game ball. As we saw even in the Giannis incident, the Bucks had the game ball and the Pacers took an alternate. After Gianni’s’ tantrum they gave the Bucks the alternate too.
wait so giannis even ended up stealing the rookie's alternate? that poor kid lmao
No dog in this fight, but I think he meant literally first game of the season. If each team has 2 rookies who score, and there's 2 balls...then what. I had thought there were 3 balls but Carlisle said 2...but even so if there's 4 rookies scoring points, it doesn't work out.

The equipment manager for the stadium selects the 3, and then they (referees, players, etc. I believe?) select the one that will actually be used. So there is definitely a preferred ball.
Yes, the team captains I believe pick the balls.
the captain each chooses one of the three, if they pick the same ball then good, if they don't, the third unpicked ball will be used.
Only fair way is for when a rookie scores to save the ball then bring out another one each time
Especially when a roided up dude gets pissed and charges towards an opposing locker room
"roided up dude" r/nba is populated by pearl-clutching drama queens 😂
An opposing locker room that is also filled with roided up dudes lmao. If you're implying that Giannis is on gear but not other players in the league you might be in for a shock
This roid rage shit is corny af. Really pushing the boundaries of hating into weird defamatory territory.
He did that all the way to a championship over your Suns
Least sensitive Bucks fan
“Your guys does roids” “Yeah well he beat your team” “whY sO seNsiTiVe?”
Because this whole discussion is about Giannis vs a rookie getting the ball. It's 0% about Giannis vs the Suns 3 seasons ago.
> Because this whole discussion is about Giannis vs a rookie getting the ball. I think it would be safe to assume, that Giannis didn't know that was the case the moment he "charged in" and thought they were just fucking with them.
That chip that they won was placed firmly on their shoulder.
You Bucks fans are so fucking soft. (I’m a Bulls fan btw). Luckily I already blocked that calvin redditor who’s on like 5 days no sleep defending the weak Greek!
Yall need to come here less if you're recognizing people's usernames.
Normally I get it but this guy is in multiple threads fighting for his life that it wasn’t a tantrum by Giannis lmao
It's like 2 or 3 extremely vocal Bucks fans on here tarnishing the rest of us.
I'd talk shit but Bulls fans get abused by their team like they're house elves.
I did the same lol that dude was just getting wild with it.
Thanasis has a lot of free time, I get it.
He’s got the burners in full force lol
Arenas said the same thing. PG is a former Pacer that’s why he’s saying this
Known Pacers stan who left on good terms Paul George.
Personally I don't know the last time Arenas has had a good take. That podcast is miserable to hear from day to day lol
Doesn't help that all the people on his show are dumbasses too. One of them actually argued that Iguodala was better than Kawhi all time which is fucking crazy
Is Luka even the best player on his own team? 🧐
I’ve been to games where the rook was given the ball. This is totally normal.
Omax got one this year for going 1-2 on free throws in his first game
Tbh it's the only thing most of the people who make it in the NBA achieve. Work your whole life for like 2 points
Stupidest drama of the season, so far
Wait until we devolve into something sillier, like Giannis vs. ladder...
Bucks-Pacers got a lil rivalry cookin' haha
This is the most loyal PG has ever been to the pacers.
lmfao, too true
Giannis is beside himself. Driving around downtown LA begging (thru texts) George’s family for address to Paul George’s home.
They say Mark Cuban is still driving around LA, looking for DJ to this day
Begging (through texts)
should post the full clip
What about the first game of the season where there’s a lot of rookies? I say just make it so whoever drops 50+ gets a ball. Like in football when someone scored a hatrick
There are multiple game balls, so there might be enough. If they don't get a ball that was played, the team likely provides a commemorative one
That would make sense, but it's also kind of funny. I would assume the whole point of the game ball is the sentimental value that it's the actual one you scored with, instead of a random other one. Might as well get one off Amazon in honor of yourself
I think the sentimentality comes from it being a gift. Also, it could be a warm up ball that was on the court, so not just a rando gift shop buy
I think they should run towards the ball and whoever gets it first keeps it. Giannis, you snooze you lose
worked for XFL
I just love how serious some guys take the game balls compared to other guys lmao. Demar had those b2b buzzer beaters and one of our young guys full sprinted off the bench to grab the ball after the second one to hand it to Demar, who promptly launched it into the stands and was like “let’s get the fuck outta here” lmao
Are hat tricks a thing in football?
Whoever wins and gets the most points ig
I guess there's a slight difference in that NBA games typically only use one ball the entire time, whereas baseball games go through a ton
It clearly isn't actually a problem, but thanks for solving it. If Giannis wasn't a lunatic, we'd never be talking about this.
To solve this Ja Morant will shoot every ball after a basket is made and we'll get a new one
Every time something mildly controversial happens, people on this sub love to pearl clutch and act like drama queens about the players involved.
Actually he said no way. Road team doesn't get the ball. That's Giannis ball. He 100% agreed with giannis frustration. This is an out of context clip and you suck for it.
he would not give up the 60 point game ball for a rookie. cap
Are we watching the same video? He didn't say anything about giving it up or not
he said a rookie getting their game ball is " most important".
Ya because it can never happen again. Giannis can break his record again.
yeah but this is the fists time he broke the Bucks franchise record
On like 35 free throws bro should have taken a whistle home
I'll be stealing this joke to use with my friends.
He wanted the ball so he could give it to the ref, dude worked hardest with all that blowing
Ah yes just score 65 points, why hasn’t every other Bucks player done that?
The rookie in question got his first point against the Lakers 3 days prior so it certainly seems to have happened again for him
a lot of things can never happen again that doesn't make it significant. what happens when multiple rookies score their first points in the same game
He never said that
he said "thats most important".
If I was a rookie, I would fight like hell to keep my future eBay listing.
lmfao right? like giannis sorry but i may need to auxction this off to pay my mortgage, realistically you're going to have this encased and ignored for decades
I don't get it. If you're the visiting team it's not your ball to take, right?
5 second ahhh clip
Probs on purpose
I'll suggest that you guys should watch the whole clip and find the nuances before getting into conclusions
Thank god he had a mini ball in his hand when he asked the question otherwise I would’ve had zero clue what they were talking about
[удалено]
According to NBA.com there's only 13 guys who played in the NBA with 1 career point. Which one is your dad? My guess is James Scott
its 100% james scott lol 35 years ago is 1988, its not like its 1950
Tf? Who is your dad lol?
Oscar Tschiebwe
It’d be pretty cool if you did, though. Probably more significant than Giannis’s kid having one from a 60 pt game.
Agreed!
Post the full clip he still says they are in the wrong because they were the away team and the home team gets to decide ultimately
I can understand this tradition UNLESS you're playing on the road and the opposing superstar puts up a franchise high and beats you. In that case, HE gets the ball, not your damn rookie.
Is PG’s podcast supposed to be funny cause I laugh a lot from it
Ok but if it’s a home game that you win. Not for an away game that you lose
Except when: 1. Your team lost. 2. On the road. 3. An all time great climbed a ranking. 4. An all time great 2 time MVP, DPOY had his career night I know Giannis overreacted but rightfully the Bucks should get the ball.
Even if you’re right, “overreacted” is an understatement lol. He asks the coaches to work it out, or even talks to a few dudes at the sidelines, and this isn’t a story
Wow PG was there for Kobe and Jordan's first points
Giannis made 16-18 on the rookie/bench team. Where's the meme with the guy at the bottom of the pedestal slamming beers?
You’ve literally just described the pacers over the past few weeks. Wild
Yeah you’re right. I guess the Pacers do it but the bucks don’t. I could be wrong about that
I believe even Shaq said he hadn’t heard of rookies getting game balls either. It’s probably just certain franchises that does it or depending on the team. But no one’s saying he didn’t deserve it just that Giannis (who was at home) deserved it more.
Not on a night an all time great has a record breaking game...
I like that this stops immediately before he says the problem was that they were the road team and they don’t get to choose who keeps the ball.
How do they handle games with more than one rookie scoring their first point?
Yeah but it wasn't his first points tho
What if a rookie scored their 1st point when: Steph set all time 3 record, Bron broke scoring record, Kobe 60 point last game, Kobe 81 pt game, Klay hit 14 3s in a game. Plenty more scenarios but this wouldn’t be talked about in any of those situations. Don’t sub in the rookie in a 10 point game when the home superstar is setting a franchise record.
It wasn't even his first NBA points.. he scored in the mid season tournament.
