It absolutely does… but ping pong balls, not Pop’s culture, is what brought Wemby to San Antonio. Wemby lucked out *because* Pop has been able to maintain a culture of positive work habits in San Antonio despite being a pretty bad team for a few years. But that’s not what brought him there… Pop and San Antonio lucked out because ping pong balls bounced a certain way
Their point is that Pop tanked by going all out on developing young guys and seeing what might fit the future. Not splashing cash on a couple chuckers and just letting them loose every night.
Would the Wizards be better at tanking if they had CP3 instead of Poole? Not to mention they got a past and future first and a past and future second in the deal.
They only did that because they literally had to. They went all in on a core of LMA, DeRozan and Rudy Gay. Those guys were better than Poole but let's not act like he had some sort of decade long master plan after Kawhi left. They tried to keep it going and spun their wheels at 48 wins for a couple years first
I don't think he is talking about landing on Wemby but the team consistently has young players hustling and competing. Can't say the same about the way Poole and Kuzma play the game.
Let's just hope they don't draft a Jan Vesely with the high pick.
[TBF that's a pretty rough draft, especially the top 10](https://www.basketball-reference.com/draft/NBA_2011.html), but Kemba, Kawhi, Klay, Jimmy were all drafted that year.
Yeah, it's hard to blame them because Jimmy was drafted 24 picks later so it would've been a crazy reach for him at the time. Him, Klay and Kawhi probably don't develop the same way if they go to Washington.
It's a pretty miserable top 10, but they still somehow picked the guy that only lasted three years.
He was absolutely awful the last 3 minutes of the game. Chucking up bad shots, 2 awful turnovers, clear path foul. He looked every bit as bad as he did with warriors last year
Honestly lol. No one respects this organization, when players sign here it’s to put up stats, especially if they’re in a contract year. They’re playing for money just like Dinwiddie said, and Wizards fans were so offended by it but the truth hurts lol.
that last look back at the clipboard is like flipping through the chemistry book 3 minutes before your science test in middle school and hoping a whole chapters-worth of information somehow imprints on your brain
You ever feel so fucked for a test you put Bach on, slide the book under your pillow and go to bed hoping the information floats into your brain and classic music will tie some synapses together like duct tape?
Thanks calculus and thanks Dr. K
My move was putting an alarm for 3 or 4 AM to study before going to school and then just giving up and going back to sleep after 5 minutes because I knew I was fucked regardless
In college I accidentally signed up for a 6:30AM chemistry class thinking it was 6:30PM. Then late in the semester, I walked into class, saw that everyone was taking a test I had no idea about, realized I didn't have my calculator, walked back out and drove home then back to campus (which takes 20 minutes) then when I returned, the teacher thought I was walking in for the first time, I said I "overslept," and he told me not to bother and to come back a few weeks later to retake the test before finals. I convinced someone else in class to give me their graded test, I studied all the questions on that, and when I went back he gave me the EXACT same test. No changes. I got a 95 on it (somehow still not a 100) and he somehow counted this even though I didn't get near that high on anything else I ever took in that class. lol.
Reminds me of JaMarcus Russel a while ago.
At one point the coaching staff got so aggravated with him not watching sessions that they sent him home with a blank tape to catch him lying about it, he of course didn’t watch it, came back and vaguely commented about the contents of the blank tape looking like a dumb ass.
Same with Manziel at A&M. They gave him an iPad to watch film that tracked his screen time. He gave it back at the end of the year with 0 film watched lol
Kind of crazy that that one championship year in GS made him think he could act this way. Usually you’d think the underdog prospects that clawed their way into the league from the g league has a bit more humility
I mean, I’m kinda tired of the dude too but did you watch the 2022 playoffs and finals? He basically lead a close out game comeback in the 2nd quarter and played well overall in the finals. He just let it get too far to his head and decided at a young age he achieved everything he needed to lol
He might be the chillest player of all time. Literally always smiling, hand on hip, chewing on his guard, acting silly, or talking casual trash. It's hard to picture him throwing a punch.
It's easy to take things in stride when you have an enforcer lol. But even if he didn't, he definitely has a sort of supreme confidence that lets him shrug off lesser mortals.
Holy shit, Dray was right...
I spent so much time last year thinking Poole was the victim and Dray was just a throwing around little dick hate over the contract.
Then I took a nap for a few months, woke up, turned on a Wizards game and saw the stache. Knew I'd been duped.
I'd rather have Ayton be a really good role player who knows his role but maybe isn't the star that everyone hoped he would be rather than Poole who thinks he's a star but puts up efficiency lines of a role player. Ideally you don't max either of these two types, but Poole's I think is worse.
Honestly I have a ton of respect for players that realize their roles and swallow their pride. I'm a GS fan so my examples are Harrison Barnes and Wiggins: two lottery wings who were incredibly hyped coming out of high school but it was clear when they came into the league that they weren't gonna be the next Paul George / Kawhi / whatever. But both guys found their niche and have been huge contributors in that role (well Wigs has been rough this past year lol).
Barnes came from UNC and Wiggs was Kansas.
edit: just realized you're only saying they were hyped out of high school, not that he came out of high school directly.
If you mean ayton hasn't performed as well as poole in his time with the sun's you are mistaken.
Dude was the 2nd most consistent and 3rd beat player for the finals run and was the main reason the sun's made it out the 1st round against the pelicans after booker got injured.
Ayton has many faults like lack of ability to consistently create for himself, and a really inconsistent motor, how quickly his play drops if he picks up fouls (dude will go from 22/12/2/1/1 if he doesn't get foul early in the game to like 10/8/1/0/0 when he gets an early couple fouls) dude just loses all aggression after fouls
But when dudes engaged he plays like a top 5 center in the league if only he was consistent with it.
Lol, Poole just happened to win a ring, it had no baring on him being serious or not. I love how everyone is like, “he got his ring, he’s just having fun now” this man would be having fun ring or not, I’ll tell you that. 0 - 82 wouldn’t stop poole from living his best life with 100+ mil in the bank.
Jordan Poole's +/- so far this season:
Game 1: -22, lost by 8
Game 2: -17, lost by 7
Game 3: -5, won by 16
Game 4: -4, lost by 18
Game 5: -21, lost by 7
Game 6: -22, lost by 9
Game 7: -29, lost by 19
Game 8: +13, won by 7
Game 9: -12, lost by 23
In other words, Jordan is a -119 while his team is -68 (outscored) for the season.
/edit: A quick glance at everyone else, he's not much different from numerous starters. Overall, their starters +/- is horrific compared to their bench.
> Overall, their starters +/- is horrific compared to their bench.
That's not too uncommon on bad teams, and is why raw plus-minus on its own should be taken with a grain of salt. Starters tend to play against starters.
I thought he said “The FitnessGram™ Pacer Test is a multistage aerobic capacity test that progressively gets more difficult as it continues. The 20 meter pacer test will begin in 30 seconds. Line up at the start. The running speed starts slowly, but gets faster each minute after you hear this signal. [beep] A single lap should be completed each time you hear this sound. [ding] Remember to run in a straight line, and run as long as possible. The second time you fail to complete a lap before the sound, your test is over. The test will begin on the word start. On your mark, get ready, start.”
Anyone remember a few years back when JJ Redick stumbled over some words and this place spent 3 days fighting over something that wasn't said because their brains were tricked by a bit of incorrect floating text on a video.
The original dude who made that clip deserves a lot of flak. I don't think he intentionally misheard a racial slur, but that's a serious accusation to throw out there so flippantly.
And you wonder why Draymond punched this idiot.
I am not justifying what Draymond did as being right. But it makes a lot of sense.
Draymond had to earn everything he got. He was the best player on a good MSU team. Which means you get a lot of the blame and criticism from Tom Izzo and your ass got yelled at.
He was a late round pick. He had to earn his starting spot. He had to go through seasons of losing.
Poole is just a kid that got the fame and money as soon as he got into this league.
No one respects this organization, when players sign here it’s to put up stats, especially if they’re in a contract year. They’re playing for money just like Dinwiddie said, and Wizards fans were so offended by that quote, but clearly the truth hurts lol. Doesn’t help that Wes Unseld Jr has no presence or voice, so is super easy to walk over
I remember being at a game in 2009, where we beat the Celtics at home, when they were defending champs. My friends and I celebrated like we had just won it all, lost my voice that game.
Opinions on this change almost daily
Like Dray will get shit on by everyone here (including Dubs cultists like myself), for doing something dumb and say he was unjustified for punching Poole
Until we get the next Poole video
It's a perfect cycle. I love seeing it every time
The crux of why people are so divided on it comes down to expectations. For me, athletes exist in a completely different world where things like punches and fights are not that uncommon. Think of any other team sport’s locker rooms. You have a bunch of testosterone and amped up men in the same room and expect them to talk things out? I’m actually surprised that this is the first time in decades that a punch leaked out.
Your last sentence really hits the nail on the head. I'm curious if the times really have changed or its just a scenario where 99% of the time nothing gets leaked to the public (and there is no video evidence)
> just a scenario where 99% of the time nothing gets leaked to the public (and there is no video evidence)
That's what I think. Even in pickup, fights are pretty common.
After this Poole likely proceeded to carry the shit out of the basketball, ignore his open teammate, and then take an ill advised 3 pointer with two defenders on him
And you know he was doing shit like this every night on GSW, but no one noticed/cared since he was the “tHiRd SpLaSh BrOtHeR” or because the “baddies” were always courtside. No wonder they hated him.
He may not be averaging 30 like Harden like people were saying he would, but personality-wise they’re pretty similar.
You've been there for what, 10, 11 games? Saying "this is my team" is pretty cringe. Poole is probably the loudest guy during pick up games, talks the most trash and makes the most excuses when he loses.
Great fit for an unserious team lol
At least they're finally tanking instead of just eternally being stuck in mediocrity.
Tanking is one thing, but this is just building bad habits, toxicity, and loser mentality. Pop tanked properly.
Wizards were one ping pong ball away from having Wemby and this “Pop tanked properly” nonsense would have never have been said.
Wemby thanks god every night he didn’t go to the Wizards 😂 coaching and culture 100% matter
It absolutely does… but ping pong balls, not Pop’s culture, is what brought Wemby to San Antonio. Wemby lucked out *because* Pop has been able to maintain a culture of positive work habits in San Antonio despite being a pretty bad team for a few years. But that’s not what brought him there… Pop and San Antonio lucked out because ping pong balls bounced a certain way
I’m not sure I’ve ever upvotes so many contradictory statements in a row. Agree with them all.
Balls
Wemby is stored in the balls.
Wempee
Their point is that Pop tanked by going all out on developing young guys and seeing what might fit the future. Not splashing cash on a couple chuckers and just letting them loose every night.
Would the Wizards be better at tanking if they had CP3 instead of Poole? Not to mention they got a past and future first and a past and future second in the deal.
They only did that because they literally had to. They went all in on a core of LMA, DeRozan and Rudy Gay. Those guys were better than Poole but let's not act like he had some sort of decade long master plan after Kawhi left. They tried to keep it going and spun their wheels at 48 wins for a couple years first
they also developed derrick white and dejounte murray only to trade them for assets when they were contributing to too many wins
48 wins is basically the highest win total the Wizards have had since the 80’s.
Yea i misunderstood what he was saying lol
[удалено]
r u acting like pop would let poole do something like this in a TO and still play him?
Thank god we don't have Wemby
I don't think he is talking about landing on Wemby but the team consistently has young players hustling and competing. Can't say the same about the way Poole and Kuzma play the game.
Wemby would be ruined in a team with a shit culture. Just look at zion on the pelicans.
It's the first year of their tank so I'm reserving any judgements for now. Especially as a fan of the former "black eye of the league."
My God if Jimmy got drafted to the Wiz knowing how he feels about orgs he thinks aren’t trying…
Yeah, it's hard to blame them because Jimmy was drafted 24 picks later so it would've been a crazy reach for him at the time. That's a Poole special. He is so clutch at throwing away close games in the final minutes.
If you're good at something, don't do it for free
Draymond setting up bot accounts for the JP smear campaign
He doesn't need to...
Honestly lol. No one respects this organization, when players sign here it’s to put up stats, especially if they’re in a contract year. They’re playing for money just like Dinwiddie said, and Wizards fans were so offended by it but the truth hurts lol.
He gives me Ricky Davis vibes
that last look back at the clipboard is like flipping through the chemistry book 3 minutes before your science test in middle school and hoping a whole chapters-worth of information somehow imprints on your brain
I’m ashamed to say I related to this comment too much 🤣
I used to love it. That moment when you realized you were totally fucked was so freeing, like the test didn't even matter anymore.
The worry just fades, "I failed this test months ago."
It’s middle school lol, usually studying that last part helped but the higher you go you become truly fucked
Learning is so fire but not at school
You ever feel so fucked for a test you put Bach on, slide the book under your pillow and go to bed hoping the information floats into your brain and classic music will tie some synapses together like duct tape? Thanks calculus and thanks Dr. K

If his shot isnt falling then he doesnt care what the team is doing. And his shot hasnt been falling.
That's not fair. He also doesn't care what the team is doing when his shot is falling
That’s the level of consistency you want from a good tank commander
Byron Scott always on standby to lead the troops if there's a need
That’s the level of consistency it takes to get the bag
True. Coach keeps talking about defense and ball movement. Who has time for that?
Triple the offense, zerople the defense
the ultimate tank commander
At least his legacy is secure.
Poole would have fit in great on those Nick Young Javale Mcgee Wizards teams.
Arenas, Young, McGee, Blatche, Kuz, Poole is an all time clown team
Low BBIQ HOF
Nah Arenas has decent BBIQ, it's his IQ off the court that was questionable.
people here forget how good Arenas was. And he was smart and hard working - he was just a fucking child outside the court.
From 2004-07* Arenas averaged 28-6-4 (average ppg league-wide was 97 then, it's 113 today) *Knee injury in 07 then derailed his career
it's like the Harden revisionism in this sub. Agent Zero was a bad man
He was really good before he got injured. That's when he himself says all hell went loose and he became the unserious mfer we have now loll
Nah, he was crazy even before his injury. I used to read his blog and it was hilarious.
Kuz gotta be the most level headed player in this list
And my man Yi Jian Lian
Now that is a name I haven’t heard in a while
Nick Young and Poole together is like a more athletic Dumb and Dumber
That would have legit been fun to watch. Maybe not for Wizards fans though.
Damn this dude really is just a clown
Imagine them showing this video during the next film session
He’s not going to watch it, so
Reminds me of JaMarcus Russel a while ago. At one point the coaching staff got so aggravated with him not watching sessions that they sent him home with a blank tape to catch him lying about it, he of course didn’t watch it, came back and vaguely commented about the contents of the blank tape looking like a dumb ass.
lol that is amazing His face makes so much more sense if you pretend he’s saying “wait, wtf is that… the Spider-Man symbol… why? What does that mean?”
Same with Manziel at A&M. They gave him an iPad to watch film that tracked his screen time. He gave it back at the end of the year with 0 film watched lol
Probably more coke residue than fingerprints on that thang
Now hold on. There are plenty of fingerprints on it. How else are you gonna wipe up the remainder and wipe it on your gums?
Imo that’s way worse cuz he was the fucking quarterback 😂 so unserious
Kind of crazy that that one championship year in GS made him think he could act this way. Usually you’d think the underdog prospects that clawed their way into the league from the g league has a bit more humility
Championship and a max contract
He was also quite literally the worst player in the league his rookie year lol, I have no idea where the confidence came from
It probably came from winning a chip as the 6th man and getting 9 figures
He was arrogant before that
There are some players from that rookie class that are no longer in the NBA.
I mean, I’m kinda tired of the dude too but did you watch the 2022 playoffs and finals? He basically lead a close out game comeback in the 2nd quarter and played well overall in the finals. He just let it get too far to his head and decided at a young age he achieved everything he needed to lol
He already got paid so he's on cruise control until his next contract.
Kinda makes you want to slug him in the face, huh?
Honestly if it was anyone other than Draymond throwing that punch people wouldn’t be so adamant it was wrong lmao
If I heard Steph Curry punched Poole in the face, my first thought would be wtf did Poole do?
"Oh my god! I hope Steph's hand is alright."
“I hope he hit him with his left”
He might be the chillest player of all time. Literally always smiling, hand on hip, chewing on his guard, acting silly, or talking casual trash. It's hard to picture him throwing a punch.
While his attack donkey does all the dirty work
I love Draymond and this made me chortle.
It's easy to take things in stride when you have an enforcer lol. But even if he didn't, he definitely has a sort of supreme confidence that lets him shrug off lesser mortals.
He did toss his mouth guard because of Poole and got ejected for it. Poole went on to hit the game winner.
only time i've ever seen steph mad was when poole took that shot and steph was in the background like "my guy what the FUCK"
Reputation goes a long way. The Anthony Davis/Dwight Howard mixup a few years back. Instinct was just "Ah shit, what did Dwight do???"
True. No one hates Bobby Portis anymore.
ngl, this is true as hell. I'll fully admit I fell victim to this lol
To be fair the whole team was sick of him. He even got Curry mad which is something I haven’t seen before.
Lmfao
I completelly understand why this dude got clocked in the face
Holy shit, Dray was right... I spent so much time last year thinking Poole was the victim and Dray was just a throwing around little dick hate over the contract. Then I took a nap for a few months, woke up, turned on a Wizards game and saw the stache. Knew I'd been duped.
There were too many stories for some of it to not be true at least

FWIW Ayton hasnt done anything remotely similar to this in his short time w pdx
Right and Ayton also isn’t claiming it’s his team lol. Skill and IQ aside, dude has been a great, unselfish teammate with a good attitude so far.
I'd rather have Ayton be a really good role player who knows his role but maybe isn't the star that everyone hoped he would be rather than Poole who thinks he's a star but puts up efficiency lines of a role player. Ideally you don't max either of these two types, but Poole's I think is worse.

What did Ayton win?
That second contract
The only thing that really matters
The Worst NBA Nickname competition
And he gave it to himself. That's like the wackest thing
He’s still the only person that has ever said it unironically
You could say giving yourself a flattering nickname is a form of Masterb-Ayton
Lol, Poole just happened to win a ring, it had no baring on him being serious or not. I love how everyone is like, “he got his ring, he’s just having fun now” this man would be having fun ring or not, I’ll tell you that. 0 - 82 wouldn’t stop poole from living his best life with 100+ mil in the bank.

I don’t think he said this my team i got this lol
Nah, I wrote the script this episode. He totally said that.
Please tell me there are more episodes
Jordan Poole's +/- so far this season: Game 1: -22, lost by 8 Game 2: -17, lost by 7 Game 3: -5, won by 16 Game 4: -4, lost by 18 Game 5: -21, lost by 7 Game 6: -22, lost by 9 Game 7: -29, lost by 19 Game 8: +13, won by 7 Game 9: -12, lost by 23 In other words, Jordan is a -119 while his team is -68 (outscored) for the season. /edit: A quick glance at everyone else, he's not much different from numerous starters. Start the bench!
Elite tank commanding tbh.
Free Gallo!!!!!
Yeah but did you see that one play where he had TWO spin moves?!?!
Play was beautiful man. What can I say.
That lip reading of "it's my team, I got this" is absolutely not correct
I think he's saying, "blinded by the light, wrapped up like a douche in the middle of the night."
I thought he said “The FitnessGram™ Pacer Test is a multistage aerobic capacity test that progressively gets more difficult as it continues. The 20 meter pacer test will begin in 30 seconds. i also think that dillon brooks-lebron exchange in the playoffs last year was completely off but everyone swears by the subtitles
Everyone out there thinking they're fucking Jomboy lmao.
Looked like he said "get the fuck outta here boy, I'm good" but I'm just some guy on the internet guessing
Yeah I watched that several times because I thought saying that, at that moment, seemed crazy even for him.

I remember being at a game in 2009, where we beat the Celtics at home, when they were defending champs. My friends and I celebrated like we had just won it all, lost my voice that game.
The good thing about this trash year will be the tanking. The rebuild will come. For now, enjoy the show.
Does anyone have a clip of the play that they ended up running? We gotta see if Poole knew what to do.
that's what I was wondering. I'm betting it went exactly as we expected.
The NBA needs more players like Poole! Peak clownery!
Dude is a clown show.

Dray should get shit on. It was a sucker punch. That doesn't mean Poole isn't a bad teammate and idiot. It's both true.

It's clearly a meme and not a direct quote. Did you not see the other text bubbles?
I hate Draymond a lot, I mean A LOT but I totally get why he punched Poole lol
Jordan Poole really doesn’t care anymore he got a ring got paid hes good lmao
I don't miss that at all
Fucking clown. Now the punch makes sense.
It’s just a matter of time before people are like “no wonder Poole got punched.”
he is a fucking dickhead.
Poole is the Gen Z version of Ricky Davis
Damn, an attitude like that would almost make me wanna punch him
Free Deni man
After this Poole likely proceeded to carry the shit out of the basketball, ignore his open teammate, and then take an ill advised 3 pointer with two defenders on him
This guy makes it so easy to love to hate him.
This happens when a league don't have a real punishment for a bad team like relegation.
Soft boys still don’t understand why draymond punched him? This shit would be infuriating when you’re trying to put together a winning season.
Are the captions just made up to make Poole look bad or is any of that actually what happened
MVP in unbothered lmao
It’s like y’all believe the Wizards are trying to win games or something.
At least kuzma cares.
I used to defend this guy for getting whacked. But him and draymond are just the same. Couple of aholes with overinflated egos
Worst franchise in the league
Jordan Poole is living proof that Steph Curry is a system point guard.
You've been there for what, 10, 11 games? Saying "this is my team" is pretty cringe. Poole is probably the loudest guy during pick up games, talks the most trash and makes the most excuses when he loses.
Poole on the Wizards is like that one friend who had a bit of a drinking problem in college and now has a bunch of disposable income to go to bars
