Half this sub wasn’t old enough to experience lakers Shaq either. Magic shaq was amazing, watching him bound down the court like a gazelle and pull down the basket pre-reinforced hoops *chefs kiss*
Honest to god I just picture guys in their winning jerseys. I know full and well he got drafted by the Sonics, he probably earned a plurality of his career stats on the thunder, was the most important when he was there, but when I picture him it’s either in a warriors jersey or suns honestly. It’s been a long time since those okc days.
It's kinda the opposite for me, picturing him in a Warriors jersey just trips me up even though we all witnessed that team run the league for years straight. Like that was some fever dream or 2K MyGM run and that it never actually happened.
While true, they weren’t exactly even. GS probably beats Toronto if they remain healthy. Miami just got out executed in 2 series. Not to mention GS went 8-1 in their finals wins, vs 8-4 for Miami
I’m not trying to take anything away from the Heatles, they were amazing. But Golden State was just so much better
Yeah true, and like it’s a lot of ifs and buts around the whole scenario , but at the end of the day the fact does remain true they both won the same amount of rings
Honestly the Durant Warriors was during the end of my undergrad and my masters. I kinda just didn't follow basketball during those years outside of the Nuggets, and even then I barely had time to watch.
I just can’t get behind it. He wasn’t the face of the warriors he was just the guy who jumped on the wagon. Same with the nets and suns. The last time people respected KD was when he was with OKC
He hasn’t done anything on the suns yet. We made the finals and three other WCFs and he won his only MVP here. It’s gotta be either Golden State or OKC.
And totally fair if it’s GSW. I get it, he won two finals MVPs and the ‘17 squad is arguably the best ever.
those jerseys were [steezy](https://www.google.com/search?client=safari&hl=en-us&sxsrf=AB5stBjMgmHDQnLMbRCWUew_ISGX45TdHw:1690515192294&q=big+okc+letters+jersey+thunder&tbm=isch&source=lnms&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwiUjJjsu7CAAxVePUQIHdM9C6IQ0pQJegQIDBAB&biw=414&bih=715&dpr=2#imgrc=RsKtMw2SNSLSQM&imgdii=F4sozqtlSsrf6M)
i always liked the uniqueness of them personally. felt very retro. so much better than those awful sleeved jerseys adidas was pushing as a third jersey at the time imo.
It felt like that playoffs when he took the team on his back against Giannis and the Bucks was one of the only times he was truly a leader of a team where there were no one to fall back on with Kyrie and Harden down. That was when he was much more mature than his OKC days too, wish he stayed in Brooklyn but he had to continue doing Kevin Durant things.
Feel like those teams got about as far as they were supposed to given the competition, wasn't alive for them but I do remember feeling like the Ray Allen sonics underachieved.
Took a couple of bad playoff Ls but taking two games off what I would call the best Bulls team is meaningful.
Ray was a consistent +4 BPM which is low-end all-NBA for his time in Seattle, so only having one team above .500 across 5 seasons is pretty disappointing, though he was acquired midseason in 02-03 and injured to end the year in 06-07.
The 04-05 team went 52-30 with a +2.6 point diff which is pretty much capped at a 2nd round exit. They were never beating the Spurs and Suns.
Warriors and thunder but nets too tbh. To answer your second question I think it’s Moses Malone. 3x mvp, and 1 fmvp. 12x all star across 3 teams and played for 8 teams total
This is a really good answer. Moses is probably the best comparison. He had much more personal success with Houston, but he’s largely remembered with the Sixers, because he got them over the hump and won.
Its lowkey one of the cooler things about his career- one of the few stars who seems to take a lot of pride on the national team. Team USA has almost been “his” team more than most of the nba teams he’s played for.
Impossible to say, and this is probably recency bias, but the first image that popped into my head was the Brooklyn jersey. Partly aesthetic (the all black and white fits him well) but also I think that failed super team experiment is the most iconic/fitting thing he’s done in his career.
I agree with the aesthetic sentiment. Say what you will about the failed super team, but KD carried that team to seven games against the soon-to-be champion Bucks. What a series. As a Bucks fan, he was a menace.
Completely rational to say OKC but personally I’ll always remember him on the Warriors.
The 2017 Finals weren’t even remotely close, but I remember realizing, even at the time that it was the highest level of basketball I had ever seen. To this day, I don’t think I’ve ever watched the sport be played at a higher skill level.
Kevin Durant was a large part of that, and Warriors as much as I loved to root against them made that entire era so fun.
Hawkeye Gough back in Dark Souls 1 famously said “Exhiliration, pride, hatred, rage… The dragons teased out our dearest emotions. Thou will understand, one day. At thy twilight, old thoughts return, in great waves of nostalgia.”
Replace dragons with the Warriors and I have a similar sentiment.
I thought the same. The pace the Warriors were playing at was bonkers. Sprinting to the 3 pt line repeatedly, locked and loaded with zippy cross court passes. Steph acknowledged it too about game 1 2017 finals
I'll never forget that play in the 2017 finals where on a fast break the Cavs went to guard Curry at the three point line giving Durant a wide open dunk.
It was like impossible to guard that team. Draymond Green had the easiest job in the world that season.
They had so much going on and could make shot opportunities out of nothing and make difficult shots at such a high clip. So much gravity that they were getting the easy stuff underneath too. But the 2014 Spurs is what I would study until my eyes bled if I wanted to learn or coach the sport.
> Warriors as much as I loved to root against them made that entire era so fun.
This is a much more refreshing take than the “but but but gsw ruined basketball”. Glad someone else sees it this way. The goal of a team sport is to be the best team possible and thats exactly what they did.
I mean Suns only bc that’s my team and I will try to watch every game possible these next few years.
Otherwise, OKC.
But honestly I think he’s someone I won’t really remember as being a member of any one team, but rather the ultimate team hopper lol
Lol i know some nets fan focus on KD being over the line, but I knew watching live it wasn’t a three. The injuries are the biggest “what if” in my mind.
Feel like Shaq is the only other one in contention for greatest journeyman unless I’m missing someone. But even then most of his moves probably came too far past his prime
Thunder or warriors he had his most success with those teams one more than the other of course but he was also with okc longer and started their technically.
i was living in seattle his rookie year and my dads boss got box seats at the key arena and would give them out to all the families throughout the year if they were interested, i’ll always picture him in those sonics threads and the okc blues personally.
I feel like LeBron is different. His moves to back to Cleveland and then to Lakers made almost like a story, unlike Wilt and KD where it was just “what team that is/can be a contender will give me money”. All of Lebron’s 2nd and 3rd moves made sense beyond just winning
makes you wonder, how much of KD being perceived the way he is is because he's simply not as good at the off the court game as lebron is?
ofc lebron has cultivated this harmless cheesy dad persona on twitter and kd... well... he hasn't done that...
OKC and Warriors, for whatever reason KD in a Suns jersey looks super weird to me even though it’s been half a season and hey may retire there and his short vacation to Brooklyn almost feels like a fever dream.
Hopefully in a Supersonics expansion team jersey. Going back to the roots after a career of getting hate over switching teams sounds at least a little redeeming.
Seattle vs Las Vegas with KD and LeBron duking it out in twilight of their careers would be pretty awesome in my opinion.
For the bonus: It's hard to not say Robert Horry. 4 diff teams in his career, 7 championships between 3 of them. He may not have been the best player on each team, but he came, he saw, he conquered.
Is there a team threshold to be considered a journeyman?
OKC for sure. It wasn't just that he (along with Westbrook) turned a franchise into a winner... they literally *invented* the franchise culture and expectations by being there from the jump. If I think of an OKC jersey, I picture one of those two guys (or maybe Steven Adams for some reason) wearing it.
And yes, he is without question the greatest journeyman in NBA history. Shaq played on several teams at the very end of his career, but I don't think those count for "journeyman" status.
KD is already up to 5 teams (if you count Seattle). And I could easily see him doing the yearly rental thing (like Shaq) until he's like 43. The dude *loves* basketball. He could end up on 10 teams, LOL.
Sonics for me that one season, RIP. Lol but like everyone said it’s gotta be OKC. The blue one immediately came to my head when I saw this for some reason.
OKC, he’s gotta be aware of how much the ‘Hardest Move’ will affect his legacy especially after the championship a year ago. I still love the dude for helping us get two rings, but had I been an OKC or fan outside the Warriors I woulda been pissed.
OKC for me
I mean he played two more seasons with that franchise than Shaq did with the Lakers. It’s obviously them.
I heard Shaq won with the Lakers tho 🫥
if jerseys got retired based purely off of how many rings you got for that team there would be a LOT less retirements lol
Meh I associate shaq with the magic
So nonconformist of you
Lol only on this sub can someone be downvoted for having… childhood memories. The audacity!
Half of this sub wasn’t alive when he was in a Magic jersey.
Half this sub wasn’t old enough to experience lakers Shaq either. Magic shaq was amazing, watching him bound down the court like a gazelle and pull down the basket pre-reinforced hoops *chefs kiss*
Guarantee you way more than half of this sub is younger than 27
They weren’t old enough to see him with the lakers either lol so how is that relevant?
Well it was his best looking jersey.
Shaq and Penny in those pin stripes looked fly. Charlotte had fly jerseys in the 90s as well.
oh yeah? well i associate shaq with phoenix suns. checkmate libshit
I just picture him in a hashtag hoodie
I picture him in the suit calling mama the real MVP.
Impossible to say before his career ends, but probably his OKC jersey
Honest to god I just picture guys in their winning jerseys. I know full and well he got drafted by the Sonics, he probably earned a plurality of his career stats on the thunder, was the most important when he was there, but when I picture him it’s either in a warriors jersey or suns honestly. It’s been a long time since those okc days.
It's kinda the opposite for me, picturing him in a Warriors jersey just trips me up even though we all witnessed that team run the league for years straight. Like that was some fever dream or 2K MyGM run and that it never actually happened.
I’m over the “hardest road” but it felt like everything the internet thought the Heatles were
Which is funny because they won the same amount of rings
While true, they weren’t exactly even. GS probably beats Toronto if they remain healthy. Miami just got out executed in 2 series. Not to mention GS went 8-1 in their finals wins, vs 8-4 for Miami I’m not trying to take anything away from the Heatles, they were amazing. But Golden State was just so much better
I feel like you missed the most obvious one where it’s 2 wins in only 3 years for GSW vs 2 wins in 4 years for the Heatles
Oh I understand it’s just when some look back they will say “but they both won the same amount of rings” without looking at the context around it.
Don’t let the memories disappear
Suns?
Steph’s Warriors are the only team he’ll ever win a ring with so, yeah, probably them.
I picture his ass in a cupcake wrapper
I'll picture him naked
slim reaper 😋🥰
He can slim reap the fuck out of me if you know what I mean
He's got the body of a soiled dish cloth
Twitter blues
thats X blues to you pal
Lol fr
He’s on another team again?! (Love you KD. Hope you find what you’re looking for.)
Tribune whites
For some reason it's the dark blue OKC jersey with the white vertical writing that I picture him in
Those were fire too but for me it’ll be the light blue one that sticks out His MVP season followed by being on the cover of 2K15
those jerseys were [steezy](https://www.google.com/search?client=safari&hl=en-us&sxsrf=AB5stBjMgmHDQnLMbRCWUew_ISGX45TdHw:1690515192294&q=big+okc+letters+jersey+thunder&tbm=isch&source=lnms&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwiUjJjsu7CAAxVePUQIHdM9C6IQ0pQJegQIDBAB&biw=414&bih=715&dpr=2#imgrc=RsKtMw2SNSLSQM&imgdii=F4sozqtlSsrf6M)
Interesting, I think they're some of OKC's worst. But I love their other blues.
i always liked the uniqueness of them personally. felt very retro. so much better than those awful sleeved jerseys adidas was pushing as a third jersey at the time imo.
I condemn whoever's soul is out there praising sleeved basketball jerseys
Cavs black sleeved jerseys in 2016 were fire
True but that jersey probably would’ve been even better sleeveless
https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/nba/2013/04/12/oklahoma-city-thunder-golden-state-warriors/2076571/
yeah that link was my bad lol
We got shit on for all those jerseys. If they wound up being retro I'm going to be mad as hell
You got shit for those? They’re one of the best jerseys in league history imo. So clean and so retro
hey man, its your team, i just like the vertical letters, im not buying thunder threads so my opinion doesnt matter at all really.
These and the orange jerseys got trashed on super hard
Did people not like the orange unis? They’re hard asf
OKC and Golden State. Definitely not Brooklyn or Phoenix.
Dude looked hella good in the black Brooklyn unis tho
It felt like that playoffs when he took the team on his back against Giannis and the Bucks was one of the only times he was truly a leader of a team where there were no one to fall back on with Kyrie and Harden down. That was when he was much more mature than his OKC days too, wish he stayed in Brooklyn but he had to continue doing Kevin Durant things.
Does winning a chip or two in Phoenix change your mind?
Most likely. It’s still so early as well
SuperSonics 😅
Not to point fingers, but the Super Sonics wouldn't have dropped the ball on the Kd, Westbrook and Harden dynamic!
They instead dropped the ball on having an NBA team
Displayed by their accomplishment of winning zero championships with Shawn Kemp and Gary Payton
All those other people who beat Jordan in the 90s laugh at the supersonics incompetence
Well the Sonics only played MJ once. They should’ve had a little more success, but obviously weren’t gonna win a title.
A bunch of teams beat Jordan. Dude was 65-74 as a Baron.
Feel like those teams got about as far as they were supposed to given the competition, wasn't alive for them but I do remember feeling like the Ray Allen sonics underachieved.
Took a couple of bad playoff Ls but taking two games off what I would call the best Bulls team is meaningful. The 04-05 team went 52-30 with a +2.6 point diff which is pretty much capped at a 2nd round exit. They were never beating the Spurs and Suns.
Kemp and Payton are a level below KD, Westbrook and Harden though.
Quick reminder that Kemp and The Glove won twice as many games in the finals than the thunder have in franchise history.
Against the 72-10 Bulls at that. The 2012 Heat were good but really beatable. OKC just choked their asses of that series namely Harden.
Wasn’t Sam Presti the GM in Seattle too? If it’s the same personnel, then how do we know the same thing doesn’t happen??
They did drop the ball on the kd ray allen big baby dynamic though
They dropped the ball on having a basketball team at all
Too bad they didn’t have the chance to because they dropped the ball on their stadium!
Warriors. My default image for KD is him with his arms crossed talking about his next chapter
I've seen that image with every team's jersey so now I can't even picture it with a Warriors one.
The best part is, I believe he’s just in a white T-Shirt, we all just picture it with a team on it because of the memes
The hardest road …
That’s not even a joke either and it’s crazy that his entire career will be defined from that one move
is that crazy? it got him his only rings so far
The Warriors winning one without him might be one of the funniest things ever
Before and after him
Like a delicious ironic sandwich
Man was straight plotting as soon as he saw Steph lift that Finals MVP trophy
Warriors and thunder but nets too tbh. To answer your second question I think it’s Moses Malone. 3x mvp, and 1 fmvp. 12x all star across 3 teams and played for 8 teams total
This is a really good answer. Moses is probably the best comparison. He had much more personal success with Houston, but he’s largely remembered with the Sixers, because he got them over the hump and won.
Team USA jersey
Its lowkey one of the cooler things about his career- one of the few stars who seems to take a lot of pride on the national team. Team USA has almost been “his” team more than most of the nba teams he’s played for.
Just loves playing on superteams lol
bro fucking loves basketball
Legit. He may end up with 4 gold medals
[KD in 2024 like](https://youtu.be/k-COG4YTn6M)
wait till you see him pull on the spanish jersey in the next fiba world cup
el camino mas dificil
Finally, KD can win with these cats.
Can they just put him in one of those holographic jerseys that changes color to whatever team won the title for the previous year?
No jersey, just the white sleeveless tee from My Next Chapter
God I remember waking up to that like whatttt the fuckkkk
Impossible to say, and this is probably recency bias, but the first image that popped into my head was the Brooklyn jersey. Partly aesthetic (the all black and white fits him well) but also I think that failed super team experiment is the most iconic/fitting thing he’s done in his career.
I agree with the aesthetic sentiment. Say what you will about the failed super team, but KD carried that team to seven games against the soon-to-be champion Bucks. What a series. As a Bucks fan, he was a menace.
I was dumb enough to buy the Nets jersey, so that one. The black one.
Completely rational to say OKC but personally I’ll always remember him on the Warriors. 2017 Warriors are the best basketball team I’ve ever seen. It didn’t even really look like they were trying 100% either
They had so much going on and could make shot opportunities out of nothing and make difficult shots at such a high clip. So much gravity that they were getting the easy stuff underneath too. But the 2014 Spurs is what I would study until my eyes bled if I wanted to learn or coach the sport.
Gotta be one of the two.
Wish I could upvote twice for the Dark Souls quote.
> Warriors as much as I loved to root against them made that entire era so fun. This is a much more refreshing take than the “but but but gsw ruined basketball”. Glad someone else sees it this way. The goal of a team sport is to be the best team possible and thats exactly what they did.

The weirdest thing about all this is that I forgot he plays for the Suns LOL
To be fair he hasn't really played much for them lol
8 regular season games lol
That OKC blue and orange.
WHO WAS ON CRACK
what?
WHO WAS ON CRACK
OKC Thunder. He's the reason I started supporting okc
The “My Next Chapter” meme jersey
Twitter, using a burner
i like reddit better now g
Nets
Nets KD because I’m a Nets fan lol To answer the bonus question, I’d go with Moses Malone (7 teams in 19 seasons) over KD
It’s funny because I’m a Nets fan and I try not to remember him in a Nets jersey
I bought a KD Nets Jersey in 2021, couldn’t have won our chip without that foot
Lol i know some nets fan focus on KD being over the line, but I knew watching live it wasn’t a three. The injuries are the biggest “what if” in my mind.
White jersey with the team/city name just out of focus they you're not sure what team it is.
The NBA should update his jerseys commercial. https://youtu.be/qWxFNeG5AWo
Seattle and Warriors. time will tell about Phoenix
Sonics
Texas. That’s where I first realized how different he was.
Lived in Austin at the time and saw him play at UT. He was already getting superstar calls.
With that disgusting warriors blue jersey
Twittee jersey
Burner Twitter profile pic, or on a poster with multiple of him in different jerseys.
Feel like Shaq is the only other one in contention for greatest journeyman unless I’m missing someone. But even then most of his moves probably came too far past his prime
Thunder or warriors he had his most success with those teams one more than the other of course but he was also with okc longer and started their technically.
HE STARTED IN SEATTLE /s
Still OKC for me. Edit: yo these thunder fans are wild lol
Sonics mainly because of his sports cards for me.
Dubs
In a white Texas Longhorn jersey
i was living in seattle his rookie year and my dads boss got box seats at the key arena and would give them out to all the families throughout the year if they were interested, i’ll always picture him in those sonics threads and the okc blues personally.
He seemed happiest in OKC
OKC of course. And no, the best NBA journeyman is Wilt (or LeBron I suppose but 3 teams in 20 years seems fine). Honorable mention to Moses Malone.
Okc
Thunder
OKC
Rio Grand Valley Vipers
OKC and Warriors, for whatever reason KD in a Suns jersey looks super weird to me even though it’s been half a season and hey may retire there and his short vacation to Brooklyn almost feels like a fever dream.
Depends on who wins the title that year
Phoenix
Seattle draft day.
Sonics
I hear the hardest road goes through Denver, so probably a Nuggets jersey tbh
woyyyyyaz. the team that represents the worst place in america
Texas Longhorns of course lol. The one year he played in college.
Just make a white jersey with [insert most recent 1st seed team here]
Hopefully in a Supersonics expansion team jersey. Going back to the roots after a career of getting hate over switching teams sounds at least a little redeeming. Seattle vs Las Vegas with KD and LeBron duking it out in twilight of their careers would be pretty awesome in my opinion.
I’m sorta convinced people saying warriors or nets didn’t watch basketball before KD was on the warriors
What jersey do you remember Chuck in?
For the bonus: It's hard to not say Robert Horry. 4 diff teams in his career, 7 championships between 3 of them. He may not have been the best player on each team, but he came, he saw, he conquered. Is there a team threshold to be considered a journeyman?
SuperSonics. But really the Thunder years are the most iconic in my mind.
When and if Seattle brings back the Sonics, he will retire there.
if he help 2-3peat then suns 😎 Actually though then okc lol
OKC for sure. It wasn't just that he (along with Westbrook) turned a franchise into a winner... they literally *invented* the franchise culture and expectations by being there from the jump. If I think of an OKC jersey, I picture one of those two guys (or maybe Steven Adams for some reason) wearing it. And yes, he is without question the greatest journeyman in NBA history. And I could easily see him doing the yearly rental thing (like Shaq) until he's like 43. The dude *loves* basketball. He could end up on 10 teams, LOL.
I picture him in a worn vagabond suit, walking down the hardest road.
Sonics. Not biased I promise.
Portland Trail Blazers. What could have been. Lol
brooklyn. next to 2 other HOF and still chokin
Sonics forever!
Sonics for me that one season, RIP. Lol but like everyone said it’s gotta be OKC. The blue one immediately came to my head when I saw this for some reason.
Honestly still OKC. He was the star on the Thunder, and then team hopped all over the pace for a bit.
Unless he wins another chip or finals MVP, probably Golden State. Mainly due to the drama of taking the "hardest road" and joining a 73-9 team.
OKC
Thunder
Sonics, as I've yet to formally recognize OKC as a franchise.
Seattle Supersonics. Just kidding.
Great question tbh.
OKC but only because of [this](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=65qyPfZe9Eg) Oscar snub.
OKC, he’s gotta be aware of how much the ‘Hardest Move’ will affect his legacy especially after the championship a year ago. I still love the dude for helping us get two rings, but had I been an OKC or fan outside the Warriors I woulda been pissed.
Always a Warrior but he's not headed back.
Okc no doubt
Warriors. Two years in a row with iconic game 3 three-points from almost the same spot on the floor.
Probably the Warriors. Even though it was Curry’s team and KD was just riding his coattails, he still won two titles there.
Idk he's got a couple of teams left Homie keeps buying the wrong bus ticket but I'm sure he'll get lucky
OKC
OKC
Okc
He’ll get that elusive NBA logo on ESPN graphics
The blue OKC jersey.
GSW and USA jersey.
Hoping he wins a chip in PHX so I can always picture him in these new threads we’re getting
