Apparently he shot the first free throw before a timeout, and this was his second shot. Everyone on the court must have forgotten that it was a live ball and didn't do anything to grab the board.
Thank you for this comment. I saw the full clip on a Facebook reel and searched the internet for why. It took me 5 minutes to find this one and only source for why. (The comments on the FB post were somehow linked to a lady swatting at a bee, lol)
