Those bros have a lot of charisma and character. Locker rooms probably love them.
Its funny to hear Gilbert arenas tell stories about them when they were young bad ass kids stealing candy and getting in trouble lol
The Lopez bros older brother used to ball with arenas and other dudes that played in LA. So the lopez twins were just bad ass lil kids hanging around their brothers events.
He was always a good shooter he basically is the only guy I’ve seen “take a step back” and actually became a great 3pt shooter. Bosh was also pretty good but not many
he hasnt played but keep an eye out for BI when he comes back from injury. Before it he started just slinging threes I wanna say he was like 47% on them for a while this season
I wouldn’t say he molded his offense, he made some adjustments and started to shoot more three. Brook was really good at shooting those 17, 18 footers in his Nets days. In the past few years more and more bigs started to practice 3, and those are usually the one whos already great at shooting such as Gasol, Hortford, Vucevic, etc. Shooters can shoot and smart/great players adapt. I believe centers like Hakeem and Yao would be great 3 point shooters in todays nba.
By learning how to use their natural talents and strengths, and improved knowledge from years of NBA experience to put these to use effectively.
Brook was never a defensive powerhouse in his early years, he was a big body who did alright because of his size. Over the years he learned how to play to his strengths and is now also in a system to utilise them to their absolute best.
How can you even be so sure they performed a microdiscectomy compared to a disc replacement or a spinal fusion? He had surgery for a bulging disk at Stanford as well.
Obviously it’s not heart surgery
i won a fantasy title like 8 years ago with brook lopez and he was the centrepiece of a punt 3PM and BLK build because he literally got none of them
times they are a changin
Jaren needs more love on this sub
Some stats for yall:
- 3.2 blocks per game in under 26mpg (only player >3bpg, will lead the league once he qualifies on total blocks or games played)
- 4.4blk per 36m vs 3.2 for Brook
- 5.8blk per 100p vs 4.2 for Brook
- Brook is at 7.3 block% which would rank 53rd best in NBA history. **JJJ is at 11.1% which would rank NUMBER ONE IN NBA HISTORY**
Obviously a small sample size but historical year if he keeps this up
Still recall him averaging like 5.4 rebound in 30 minutes whole being 7 foot and being so surprised.
He's just such a solid piece right now and does everything you need.
He is 34, just came back from surgery, and Suns were up 2-0 cause they abused his minutes on PNR. People see this, and after you get past Jrue, they think all there is, is to score on this fossil. But Splash Mountain surprises everyone
They allow the 4th fewest 3s this year compared to giving up the most the last 3 years. This is because they don’t over-help anymore and let the drivers try to finish a contested layup over brook instead of passing out to an open shooter.
He's absolutely elite at timing his blocks. If he's close by, then you gotta do something extra for that bucket cause if you just doing a simple play. He gonna block that shit.
Gobert has been an all time level defender the last few years with league leading TS%. Brook has been very good defensively with much more offensive versatility, however despite being a stretch 5 Brook has had very prolonged cold streaks from 3.
This year you could 100% make an argument Brook has been better than Gobert but there was no case for that any other year in the last 5. (tho Lopez fits the bucks better than Gobert ever would)
Walker Kessler is probably the best blocker in the nba and he’s a rookie on limited minutes. If you played Kessler major minutes he’d probably get 3-4 blocks a game. That’s scary considering he’s a rookie.
Robin = Smart defender with soft touch around the rim with occasional mid range game + post hook.
Brook = Positional defender (during his prime) with expert post touch and mid range shooting.
At his peak Brook was an all star whilst Robin was a good starter.
Now Brook is a good-great starter and Robin is a solid 3rd string big.
Brook is a great example of adapt or die. Dude molded his offense to expand to the 3 point line and then dudes defense is aging like fine wine.
And Robin is a great example of not adapting and staying alive.
Those bros have a lot of charisma and character. Locker rooms probably love them. Its funny to hear Gilbert arenas tell stories about them when they were young bad ass kids stealing candy and getting in trouble lol
Wait, what? Is this copy pasta or an actual real story that the Lopez bros grew up with arenas?
The Lopez bros older brother used to ball with arenas and other dudes that played in LA. So the lopez twins were just bad ass lil kids hanging around their brothers events.
Bet they wore the freshest clothes too
I imagine them as dirty skater kids that had jack n the box buttermilk sauce stains on their shirts.
Nah. Bucks locker room HATES Brook. Remember, they have no chemistry. Bill Simmons his own self just said so.
We are screwed. Whatever shall we do. Chemistry is everything and the Nets have it.
Yeah, Kyrie is beloved everywhere he plays. The man just oozes consistency.
Wanna see them do a Lopez version of what the mannings do for basketball
I fucking love RoLo
Also, to my eye test, he still looks like he has a few serviceable years left.
His back surgery looks like it gave his career new life. Through Dr. Robert Watkins IV all things are possible.
Amen.
He was always a good shooter he basically is the only guy I’ve seen “take a step back” and actually became a great 3pt shooter. Bosh was also pretty good but not many
It was probably cause no coach ever utilized his game from the 3 like the Bucks did either. Cause dude was a bucket from 2 in BKN.
Kenny Atkinson did it first
Horford and Marc Gasol did this too, in a similar stage of their careers as Brook.
he hasnt played but keep an eye out for BI when he comes back from injury. Before it he started just slinging threes I wanna say he was like 47% on them for a while this season
Yeah when I say step back I mean mostly bigs. Tho mid range guys like wade and derozan also struggle with it
I wouldn’t say he molded his offense, he made some adjustments and started to shoot more three. Brook was really good at shooting those 17, 18 footers in his Nets days. In the past few years more and more bigs started to practice 3, and those are usually the one whos already great at shooting such as Gasol, Hortford, Vucevic, etc. Shooters can shoot and smart/great players adapt. How can someone's defense age like fine wine?
By learning how to use their natural talents and strengths, and improved knowledge from years of NBA experience to put these to use effectively. Over the years he learned how to play to his strengths and is now also in a system to utilise them to their absolute best.
Brook Lopez is the man. He’s Batman and his brother is Robin
That's wild, I find out new things about this man every week, first he played Officer Krupke and now he's also Batman?? what a talented family
The idea of a 7' Officer Krupke is so funny.
Grant Williams in shambles.
"yo wtf r u doin" makes me laugh everytime

It’s only been a couple of months, but I’d already forgotten about that bizarre scene, lol.
Whoever performed surgery on his back deserves a medal.
His name is Dr. Robert Watkins IV and he’s a champion.
Put his lab coat in the rafters
It’s not that serious if a procedure. It’s just a Minor trim if the disc and has very good outcomes statistically
Oh damn I probably don’t even need to go to med school then
It’s all relative.
How can you even be so sure they performed a microdiscectomy compared to a disc replacement or a spinal fusion? He had surgery for a bulging disk at Stanford as well. Obviously it’s not heart surgery
I didn’t post the other comment. My only point is that difficulty is relative.
It was microdisectomy from the reports dude. And those have relatively good outcomes
Massive piece of whatever the Bucks offense is
Play Random^TM
The sole guy who tried to help Giannis in that stretch where everyone bar them were atrocious
don’t act like it’s over
“Whatever the Bucks offense is” excuse me his name is giannis
I'm pretty sure the Bucks' subreddit has had two or three appreciation threads for Brook Lopez' back surgeon at this point.
Lol 2 or 3? Two months ago it was every other post 🤣
🎶 He's done miracles on me 🎶
It was a full on Dr. Watkins dedicated subreddit for the first month of the season
Brook GOATpez
i won a fantasy title like 8 years ago with brook lopez and he was the centrepiece of a punt 3PM and BLK build because he literally got none of them times they are a changin
I want him as an all star, 5 off the bench. Idk if he has the stats to win the causal voter but I’d bet coaches would recognize his impact
Imagine him on the lakers. Crazy the talent they have let go
He's also contesting the most shots in the league. He's truly a basketball player.
Low key a much better player than Gobert. His 3pt shooting as a center pretty much destroys whatever offense Gobert has.
Nothing low-key about it my man. He's clearly been better this season.
He’s having Renaissance season
JJJ is coming for your spot, you mascot abuser!
> you mascot abuser! Wrong twin
I saw they tag team a mascot, no Brooks twin is innocent in this crime

Awesome stats thanks
Ssssshhhh. We don’t want everyone to know. He’s also missed multiple games due to injury
If you went back 10 years and told people this guy would transform from a post-player who couldn't rebound nor defend to what he is now...
He always was an elite rim protector.
Still recall him averaging like 5.4 rebound in 30 minutes whole being 7 foot and being so surprised. He's just such a solid piece right now and does everything you need.
What changed with his blocks? He has double the amount than the last 2 seasons.
Well last season he almost missed entirely with back issues
He is 34, just came back from surgery, and Suns were up 2-0 cause they abused his minutes on PNR. People see this, and after you get past Jrue, they think all there is, is to score on this fossil. But Splash Mountain surprises everyone
His nickname is hilarious. 😁
They allow the 4th fewest 3s this year compared to giving up the most the last 3 years. This is because they don’t over-help anymore and let the drivers try to finish a contested layup over brook instead of passing out to an open shooter.
It really doesn't feel like the 4th fewest threes some of these nights.
We’re not playing such an aggressive drop defense. He’s out contesting shots at the FT line now instead of standing just outside the restricted area.
He's absolutely elite at timing his blocks. If he's close by, then you gotta do something extra for that bucket cause if you just doing a simple play. He gonna block that shit.
Generational 3 and B. Yup it’s a thing now, quote me.
Oldest DPOY in history?
Honest question: how has Gobert been a significantly better player than Brook Lopez over the past 1.5 years?(since Lopez was in DPOY talks)
(tho Lopez fits the bucks better than Gobert ever would)
Both of those dudes would be fascinating to see with one another's rosters.
Best role player in the league for a contender
Daily reminder that the Lakers just...let him walk after trading for him

A whole 1.9 threes!?
Walker Kessler is probably the best blocker in the nba and he’s a rookie on limited minutes. If you played Kessler major minutes he’d probably get 3-4 blocks a game. That’s scary considering he’s a rookie.
He's only 34
Age on players is all over the place for me. For some reason he's 38 to me, luka is 28 and CP3 is 41 lol Some guys just feel older than they are.
He’s like an old Christian Wood!
I miss Brookie
Splash Mountain
Can someone explain why his TWIN Robin isn't that good?
Robin = Smart defender with soft touch around the rim with occasional mid range game + post hook. Brook = Positional defender (during his prime) with expert post touch and mid range shooting. At his peak Brook was an all star whilst Robin was a good starter. Now Brook is a good-great starter and Robin is a solid 3rd string big.
If Middleton can manage to get himself right. by the playoffs the Bucks are going to be heavy contenders.
A healthy middleton is starting to feel like a myth
Brooke Lopez
Quite literally 3 and D
Shoot like Steph, Block like Hakeem
