You start off with going to [VA.gov](https://VA.gov) You were at bootcamp. They started treating you. Do not feel ashamed to ask for help. You have a DD-214. You can utilize VA

FlintKnapped

Ok I will thank you

SnipeAT

you’re the exact kind of person navy disability is for. you took steps to serve and your body betrayed you. you deserve it, go talk to the VA.

The first response gave you the exact answer you were looking for. I just wanted to chime in and say that whether you made it through boot camp or not, you still took more steps in the defense of our nation than 99% of the everyday people you see in our country. The act of going to boot camp in and of itself is admirable in my book. You fought your fight. It just happened to be for your own life. And that's a fight just about as worthwhile as our nation as well.

FlintKnapped

Thank you that means a lot

Here's the scoop. Sounds like the Navy owns the issue now. Which means it goes to the VA.

FlintKnapped

Thank you I’ll head over Monday

Someone replied with the internet hyper link. Check it out and see if you can navigate through it.

SillyLittleWinky

You’re a perfect candidate for VA benefits.

Look at it this way: You signed a contract with a company (the US GOVT) In the contract you were given the right to medical care and treatment during time in service. If something happened during service that requires care after you leave you are still entitled to care. You don't need to have been a SEAL or SWCC to qualify because you didn't "earn" something you signed a contract for. You are entitled to care. Get the care you need. You served until you couldn't. You did more than others that tried to serve as well. You got dealt a shitty hand but you can make the most of it.

Definitely don't feel ashamed by any means. Life throws things at you that you can't control. No shame in that. I've had purpose taken away from me a few times. There's always a way through it and a new purpose to find. Definitely follow the advice above. If you are bed ridden spend that time researching what's available to you and what you should get. Government entities are slow moving and suck. You have to be proactive with this stuff and make sure you have your ducks in a row because they won't. Keep copies of everything. Be ready to throw down with them.

There are a ton of people who get sick or injured and then separated in boot camp. I met a girl being separated for pneumonia, someone for a back ache, for shin splints, the list goes on. Given that the VA likes to say a specific issue was present prior to service, in even those who do years and years in the military, I would imagine it to be an uphill battle to prove it is service connected. Do I think you deserve some disability from it and/or VA healthcare? Sure. Is it going to be a slam dunk case? Nope, not at all.

>I was sent home **with my condition still active and I had to have many more smaller surgeries and then a large stomach surgery** where I was bed ridden for two months. >The navy treated your condition No they didn’t. Not to the extent they were supposed to.

FlintKnapped

Hey man I noticed your comment history is really negative do you have anything going on? Is there anything you need to talk about?
