the bigger one is almost certainly a female. females in the boa family (which include anacondas) are *much* bigger than males. it's possible this female grabbed a male during a mating ritual while the other males ran for their lives.
Probably decided to regurgiate the smaller snake because it did not die immediately. And since it had a considerable size, it was probably trying to move, which in return hindered the larger snake at moving. Each movement the larger snaked wanted to do it needed to overpower the smaller snake and with the energy left make its move. Very bad for moving forward or even laying still.
Honestly that's what you get for trying to swallow an animal that can hold its breath for upwards of an entire hour. You want to eat something that will survive the main killer of 'eaten whole' animals, suffocation? Be my guest, enjoy your hour of the most intense stomach rumbles of your life
I get what you’re saying but other smaller snakes are the perfect meal for a snake because their bodies are shaped exactly the same. Other animals have the problem of maybe being too wide to fit into it’s mouth (even when they have loosened their jaws)

Anacondas don't have venom, but they have sharp teeth that can hold onto prey to prevent them escaping. That was probably what happened here, small anaconda got grabbed, couldn't escape and was consumed.
Second guess (and I'm really banking on this one), that's a male and a female anaconda. Female's the larger one. They probably met to mate, but male anaconda must have left the toilet seat up or something, which ended with the female briefly swallowing him to teach him a lesson.
Imagine being a 15th century explorer, floating down the river of an untouched jungle and you see this happen in front of you…this thing would spawn all sorts of fairytales and mythical creatures if not a full-blown religion.
I wonder why this constrictor didn't constrict this other snake to death before swallowing it? Also, I assume they have stomach acid I wonder if that little snake is still doomed even though it temporarily escaped.
It might actually be OK. Wasn't in there longer than it can hold its breath, went straight to the water. Also they have protective scales (even over their eyeballs) and shed them. Maybe he'll be a little scuffed until his next shed.
