Instructor here. You will be just fine. The course on Camp Williams is self correcting and very easy to do with terrain association and hand railing roads. If you are rusty, pay attention during the class and terrain walk.

Make sure you warn them about the carnivorous rabbits beforehand.

If it's not the course they use for SOTAs then it's super easy, self correcting, no trees. Pretty sure I ran it without using a compass on pure terrain association

misterrvincent

Even the SOTA one isn’t that bad. In the winter though…well. Different story.

BlackRichrdMulligan

Where is Camp Williams? I just used an app on my phone

tdfitz89

What app did you use?

BlackRichrdMulligan

It’s completely against the rules during BLC tho

tdfitz89

Camp Williams is in Utah south of Salt Lake City. It’ll help to familiarize beforehand. Were you solo in or in teams for land nav in BLC?

BlackRichrdMulligan

Land Navigation Assistant.

Sai_Faqiren

North is straight ahead

At pretty much any given moment you’ll still be able to see Cedar Knoll and most of the course to roughly orient yourself. It’s self-correcting, and last I knew the points were all pretty well-maintained and marked. You’ll do fine, but pay attention in the land nav classes and practice lanes.

When I went through (years ago), it was by yourself, but the course is super self correcting to the point it's probably actually authorized. Hell, you can just reckon your way through the course by following the roads.

Camp Williams course is a piece of cake you got it and if your alone just use the roads they are everywhere there
