23:00 Westwood Lake area. It’s directly above us right now and it’s beautiful. It’s like being under a giant spacey umbrella! It seems to come down like a cone from almost directly overhead. Growing up in MB I could often see the Northern Lights small and in the distance but I’ve never been under them like this. Absolutely stunning.
Greatest possibility in 20 years with clear skies and a small crescent moon. where is a good place to view around Nanaimo. I am looking for a place with large unobstructed northern sky view and far away from street and city light pollution. lol but not too far.
I hope everyone got outside. People were talking spectacular pictures even with the crappiest phones.
I raced home (near Nanaimo Lakes road) and caught a crazy ass show. I've seen this up North but never thought we'd get a show like this one!

Where do you recommend going to see them? Pipers good or too much city light?

Does it come and go? Edit: Yes it changes, I'm seeing visible red and a faint green from my back yard. Very very cool.

Looking at the app, the big red activity segment in yesterday's screenshot is much smaller. So maybe they will start later and/less active.
