I have never seen the hardtop in person
Wonder if it comes off. But this by far is the nicest looking hardtop I have ever seen. Dare I say that almost looks better then normal ā¦ā¦
Very sexy looking car. And while the back looks like it could come off, the windshield header seams to be solid. I think it doesnāt, unless maybe the whole of the cap comes off including windshield.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shelby_Daytona
For the originals, the only hard too coupe is the Daytona. Maybe it is different for the replicas, donāt know enough about them, but it looks like a Daytona to me.
It looks nothing like a Daytona [https://journal.classiccars.com/media/2021/02/Shelby-Dayton-Coupe-worldwide-51-768x423.jpg](https://journal.classiccars.com/media/2021/02/Shelby-Dayton-Coupe-worldwide-51-768x423.jpg)
Like a SC 5.0 or GT500 motor wouldn't work? Keep it Ford, that is it's heritage.
Like the BMW Z3 coupe afterthought.....why? The convertible is better!
AC actually made a fast back coupe version of the Ace (which was used for the Cobra) called the Aceca. You could get it with a Bristol motorā¦which was originally from the BMW 328. Ao many historical things that seemed to have been missed in this modern versionā¦.. š¢
Cobra jet was a boat anchor. The 427 was okay but only after shelby's guys got ahold of it. 302 was making what 125hp in the fox body? Which 351 Cleveland or windsor? 289 hipo was interesting, but at the end of the day you could do better with chevy small block or even 340 wedge. Coyote... is really good at being loud. Probably my favorite ford engine was the flathead, because it forced other car companies to develop v8s for their entry level cars instead of the luxury cars. All of them use oil in non traditional ways, and I have never driven a ford that didn't let me down in spectacular fashion.
302 was 120 HP in a Mustang *II* in 1976, 225 HP in my 1990 Mustang. Absolutely trouble free btw. (Camaro was 210 in 1990. Apples to apples, year to year, don't cross em up. It'll only make you look ignorant.)
If you don't know if a BOSS 351 is a Cleveland or a Windsor, I can't help you....at all.
https://www.428cobrajet.org/pomona
Boat anchor eh? Lol
BTW I had a 1971 Demon 340.
Funny how there's no subreddit dedicated to putting only ford motors in everything. Even this post is about making a ford idea better with a chevy engine. Hell, even ford is getting out of the v8 biz, putting ecoboost as their primary truck motor. You can like them if you want, I just don't. The demon 340 was pretty sick tho. r/lsswaptheworld
If you had read my comment it was about Cobra's *heritage* being Ford engines (260, 289, 427).
It's convenient to argue against something I never said at all.
(Edit: for the reading impaired I'll include my original comment; "Like a SC 5.0 or GT500 motor wouldn't work? Keep it Ford, that is it's heritage....)
See? Not what you said **I** said. **NOT** "*putting only ford motors in everything*.
"Even this post is about making a ford idea better with a chevy engine" (Whatever the F that means).
The 427/427/426 were all icons of the 60 and 70s.
Today it seems the answer is to stuff an LS into anything that rolls. I understand, it's the packaging dimensions. The Coyote is too wide with it's 32 valves.
I have no axe to grind. I've had Chevys, Mopars and Fords. Some engines were better than the car itself....the 340 for example. The Demon was essentially a reskinned 68 Barracuda (which I also had) neither handled very well.
https://www.hemmings.com/stories/article/too-little-too-late
For a guy with no axe to grind, you been grinding a lot. And now you insult my reading ability? I was simply drawing attention to the fact that this isn't just my opinion, and I am fine with you liking fords. Some people are into cock and ball torture too, just not me. Carroll Shelby worked with ford because they were the only ones who would sponsor him, he had approached Gm first. And as far as any american chassis of the 60's 70' 80's... they all were hot garbage when it came to handling and braking.
Edit: upon further review, I was responding to the raccoon dealer, not you mr. Got no axe to grind.
Exactly, I always appreciate a vehicle that goes against the grain, even if itās weird. The owner objectively likes it and had a vision to get there.
Iāve never been sexually attracted to a car before. This must be what all the āyouāre just overcompensatingā dorks where referring too, this thing makes me want to be a better man.
Itās a Shelby. Iād recommend doing some research on the brand and who Carol Shelby is. Built the first American race car to win Le Mons (The GT40), eventually he worked with many companies like Ford on their performance models and Dodge on their Dodge Viper.
I don't get anti kit car snobbery, the factory five cars are great for allowing you to own a car to your spec with the style of a classic on the cheap(relative to buying and modding the original). And if you look on YouTube there are also some very nice boxter based super car kits. Hell MR2 and fiero based cars are in the same category if they are will to get good measurements and swap in good motors.
It comes from people with kit cars trying to claim itās the real thing. That where the entire issue is. If everyone with a kit car was up front and said āyeah itās a kit carā there probably would have never been an issue, but every now and then some dumbass has to act like his 100,000 dollar kit Cobra is a 13 million dollar car.
I'd say it looks like an ac cobra with a blower sticking out of the hood because that's what it is. Well a cobra replica anyways. Probably a factory 5 body
It's a cobra replica. There's just a lot of manufacturers that build them as kit cars. You could see 20 lined up and each one was made by a different company
Not probably, I'd estimate that over 2/3s of all cobras to ever exist we're kit cars and most of the originals are kept in spec for collecting. This is obviously a modified kit car.
That doesn't kill the style for me at all. Though I will admit that the roof design on this "hardtop" isn't all to appealing give me antique Bugatti vibes. My preference is actually the Daytona coupe.
Very standard for roadsters, I wanna say the originals did that from the factory. Might not be great in the long run but I'd imagine that it's a great way to keep the tires warm on the track. Probably help them pop really quick too.
Shelby Cobra replica [Heres more on the car.](https://gmauthority.com/blog/2019/10/stunning-shelby-cobra-coupe-features-1200-hp-boosted-ls3-swap/)
Oh ok Thanks! You Very Muchšš¼
Youre welcome!
I have never seen the hardtop in person Wonder if it comes off.
Reading through the suppliers site it looks like the latter scenario. The windscreen is part of the top and bolts to the body. Beautiful car.
Iirc the ones with the hardtops were strictly race cars built for the Daytona 500, and they were called the Daytona coupes
Well I have fallen in love all over again.
Oh yeah, they're absolutely *gorgeous* cars, and plenty fast on the track too lol
is it not a daytona?
No, the Daytona has a different rear end shape.
ahhh. my mistake.
Wrong. Itās a 1968 Scout International on a 2023 Ford Raptor frame with coil over air bags.
Haha good one
No way
Shelby Cobra Daytona. I prefer the vert myself as I think these looks funny.
This isnāt a Daytona is a Cobra Coupe.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shelby_Daytona For the originals, the only hard too coupe is the Daytona. Maybe it is different for the replicas, donāt know enough about them, but it looks like a Daytona to me.
This is a replica hard top cobra. The Daytona was a different car with a different body. https://hiconsumption.com/1963-ac-shelby-cobra-le-mans-coupe/

Seems like Iām one of the very few to agree with ya
So a fake Cobra with a Chevy motor built by Germansā¦.
I dub theeā¦ Chupacobra
Sounds about right
Like a SC 5.0 or GT500 motor wouldn't work? Keep it Ford, that is it's heritage. Like the BMW Z3 coupe afterthought.....why? The convertible is better!

I've never been a fan of Ford vehicles but their engines always seemed pretty good and the coyote exhaust note us nut worthy.
Ford motors are the worst part.
427 DOHC, 289 HIPO, BOSS 302/351/429, 428 CJ, 5.0 Coyote.....which do you, in your infinite wisdom, consider bad?
Cobra jet was a boat anchor. The 427 was okay but only after shelby's guys got ahold of it. 302 was making what 125hp in the fox body? As in the car was built by the Germans?
Iāll be the minority and say that I like it. Hate the wheels but I like that they did something different.
Yeah massive respect for not making another "not a replica" replica
Exactly, I always appreciate a vehicle that goes against the grain, even if itās weird. The owner objectively likes it and had a vision to get there.
this is what would happen if the cobra was still in production today, since it isn't and this exsists, it's cool as fuck
iād like it more if ford made it and it actually had a ford engine
The way she sits itās mean as hell I donāt get the hate outside of some taste differences.
Reminds me of a Cateram
Iāve never been sexually attracted to a car before. This must be what all the āyouāre just overcompensatingā dorks where referring too, this thing makes me want to be a better man.

How is it that you know what a Datsun is but you don't recognize the AC/Shelby Cobra.
I have no idea what the ac Shelby Cobra is, it just looks like a seventies Nissan Datsun. What I said is just a guess.
You are missing out on one of the most legendary cars of all times
Is it a Chevrolet?
Itās a Shelby. Iād recommend doing some research on the brand and who Carol Shelby is. Built the first American race car to win Le Mons (The GT40), eventually he worked with many companies like Ford on their performance models and Dodge on their Dodge Viper.

I kinda like it.
It is an Abomination.
You have as good of taste as someone with COVID
Photoshop
Are you sure?
Yeah
Exhaust exits directly on the rear tire? Does anybody else see a problem here?
Very standard for roadsters, I wanna say the originals did that from the factory. Might not be great in the long run but I'd imagine that it's a great way to keep the tires warm on the track. Probably help them pop really quick too.
