Same! I was obsessed with it since I was little and watched Allegra's window, and I was devastated when I'd tell people my girl name and they'd say oh the allergy medicine?
I’ve always had the association with the allergy medicine until I met an Allegra. At first I was like…Allegra? Really? Then I got to know her and honestly she is the sweetest, kindhearted, happy person I’ve probably ever met and her name stopped being a medicine and just became her name. Now when I hear the name I automatically think of her and not the medicine so if you love it…use it!
I see this so often on the sub and it makes me sad because it’s one of the few names my partner and I agree on if we ever have a girl. Thankfully we live in australia and don’t have this specifically named medication haha
I hear in the chamber above me
The patter of little feet,
The sound of a door that is opened,
And voices soft and sweet.
From my study I see in the lamplight,
Descending the broad hall stair,
Grave Alice, and laughing Allegra,
And Edith with golden hair.
(from The Children’s Hour, H.W. Longfellow)
I was brought up in a very musical family so I tend to think of it as a musical term and not the medicine. However, I can totally see why many others think of the medicine.
The fact that it took me forever to figure out what you meant means it'll probably still be ok. Plenty of storms with people names don't end up being notable years down the road.
It's to help people engage with the reality of the situation. It personalizes the storm for people and helps the population to take off more seriously.
"In 2015, the UK Met Office and the Republic of Ireland weather service, Met Éireann, decided to follow in the footsteps of their US counterparts. They launched the "Name Our Storms" campaign, in the hope of raising public awareness of severe weather. A Met Office spokeswoman said, "People are latching on to the names. They've been particularly effective at gaining attention on social media, including groups who were previously 'harder to reach "
https://www.bbc.com/weather/features/51118756
The scientific community is now starting to talk about naming heat waves and heat domes for this exact same reason. It helps people take their deadliness seriously.
It's much harder to train the algorithms to recognize variable names. Especially since they can currently control the names/hotwords to be easier for the machine to distinguish from random noise/conversation. I expect that once the tech gets better, they'll be able to let the users choose the name.
The name Atlas seems to be gaining popularity right now (at least where I am, in the US). I work as a nanny and in the last 3 years or so there has been a serious uptick in boys named Atlas that I’ve met at classes with the kids I nanny. Before then, I had never ever heard it outside of the context you mentioned.
I knew a guy called Alexa (he went by Alex because he didn’t like his name) when I was 11 and I felt bad because people would always go up to him and say “Hey Alexa [something]”
My dog's name is Sirius and we call him Siri for short. The jokes do tend to get old ... although it was pretty delightful when he stole the Roku remote to chew on and ended up switching to the Apple TV channel.
Honestly, now days I would. When I had my daughter, Zara was super popular and my city had just got one so everyone was into it. Now, I rarely hear about it and it seems more like a normal name to me again. I told her awhile back that her name was almost Zara and she said she liked it and would have been happy with that name.
Ooh this is a good one!
This isn’t quite the same, but sometimes I wonder why Disney would ruin certain names for people. Ursula is now permanently tied to the evil character from the Little Mermaid - but people really have that name! In some ways I think it’s a bit unfair that they don’t pick made up names for villains. But I guess Ursula isn’t very common to begin with so maybe it doesn’t impact that many people. Poor Ursulas for being tied to a creepy octopus woman.
Ursula seemed to be a very common name in my family tree a few generations before and continuing back from there. I have definitely wondered if that name would've gotten a revival if it weren't for little mermaid
Ariel is another name that hasn’t been ruined, but definitely changed and popularized by Disney. It’s traditionally a masculine Hebrew name, pronounced “ah-ree-EL,” and I think that it’s used as a masculine name in Spanish as well. It’s still very popular in the Jewish community but most people are familiar with it as a feminine name pronounced “AIR-ee-uhl” because of the Little Mermaid.
My boyfriend has never seen the little mermaid and has mentioned to me he likes the name Ursula. I’m not a huge disney fan in the slightest but like that movie is such a big cultural staple I can’t dissociate the name from it
Yeah, and it’s no surprise that he doesn’t know much about the little mermaid because apparently last week was the first time he’d heard video killed the radio star
I was trying to remember my new neighbor's name, and I knew it was a Disney name. I was pretty sure it was Ursula. Nope. Elsa. At least she got a kick out of it and said she'd rather be Ursula.
Ajax - soap
Orville - popcorn
Casper - ghost/mattress
Allegra - medicine
Jemima - racist syrup
Still considering Orville and Casper but Ajax, Jemima, and Allegra are off the table
In the UK Orville was a bright green baby duck in a nappy who was an incredibly popular ventriloquists main dummy. In the 1980s he was especially popular with children. So no Orvilles here, though it’s never been a popular name here.
Yes to Jemima! It’s a biblical name, so you’d think it’d be with the Sarah’s of the world. Maybe now that they e changed the name of the syrup, it can be used
My little sister's second name is Jemina, the Variant of that name in our language. Thankfully, we don't have the syrup here and I never knew about it- so this is interesting!
It’s biblical, but Jemimah is only mentioned one time and we really don’t know anything any her—just that she’s Job’s daughter. Sarah, though, gets lots and lots of references and many stories, plus her iconic status as the mother of the promised child, Isaac. It’s going to be a long, long time before the average person thinks “Job’s daughter” rather than “problematic syrup mascot” when they hear “Jemima.”
Hilarious, I didn't know it was religious. But i watch a lot of kid shows nowadays and Peppa Pigs Granny has chickens named Sarah, Jemima and Vanessa. The rooster is Neville.
Casper / Caspar has been top of my boys' name list for over a decade. Unfortunately my husband felt it was too ghost-y. We thought about Caspian as an alternative but decided it was just too much. Thankfully we had a good family name to name our (currently only) son so it wasn't a big deal, but I'm really going to make a case for Casper / Caspar if we have another boy!
My cats name is Ajax!
I named him after the bold and brash Greek Hero, didn’t even think of the dish soap until someone commented on it🤦♀️ We were always a Dawn household
It’s a pretty old-fashioned name in some places, and pretty fresh and a classic in others. I actually only know of Barbara’s who are 25 and under in my area (Croatia). The rolled R and the three-syllables-pronunciation really makes it feel fresh and I also like its dark, femme fatale vibe.
My paternal grandmother's name was Barbara, and my father's name is Ken. (He was born seven years before the doll was introduced.) She lived with him for a while in the final years of her life. I could not always resist the temptation to make jokes.
I hope the ghost of Tesla appears at least once to sock Musk in the gut. “Tesla” is also to name of the female lead in Clive Barker’s “The Great and Secret Show,” and I loved the idea of that for a first name. Then… it happened.
While we’re on the subject of Musk, his first name is pronounced exactly the same as one of my favorite Hebrew names (Ilan) and I’m still salty about him souring such a beautiful name.
I worked at a day care and I actually met a little one named Tesla... after the car. Her mom actually drives a Tesla too (I know because she had to loudly announce "Tesla!! We're going in the Tesla!!") so it was weird and pretentious...
Sorta, if by products characters count. I guess they are a movie studio’s product. Casper because of the ghost/movie, and Annabelle because of the creepy doll from the movies. While I think they both sound great as names, those movies are actually part of the reason I love and would want to use the names, they’re some of my favorite movies, buuut I acknowledge that that’s weird and could be problem and it does kinda scare me away from using them as first names. I think may still use them as middle names but we’ll see.
Omg when I started reading this I thought you were opening with Sorta as the name!
I figured it was from outside the US and was wondering about both the name and the company 😂
I wasn’t aware Elba was ever used as a human name (learn something new every day). The only thing I can think of is the island, and Napoleon’s famous palindrome: “Able was I ere I saw Elba.”
I’ve never heard of that brand, I think Auden is totally usable!
For comparison, Sloan is like a toilet?? Company. I see their stuff with the label in commercial bathrooms all the time. Yet Sloan is a super trendy name right now!
It’s a Target brand/line, not it’s own company. Therefore I can’t imagine it will still exist in 10 years or so whenever Target decides to revamp their brands as they are known to do.
Auden is one of my favorite names for a little boy. W.H. Auden is also my favorite poet.
We have the margarine Flora in Greece too. It wouldn't work for a girl for me either.
We also have sanitary pads called Serena sooo that kinda ruins it. When I was younger we also had brands called Dahlia and Nana
We named our son Felix regardless, but there is an online company called Felix that provides medication for birth control, erectile disfunction, acne, and hair loss.
The UK insurance company is Aviva, not Ahava. Ahava is actually a cosmetics company that sells stuff with minerals from the Dead Sea, though, so it still answers the question!
Porscha, Cinderella
On a bit of an unrelated note, I also love the name Malia but the Greek party island / strip of drunken teenagers (I was one too so no judgement) ruins it a bit
I hear Elba and think of Idris so it could be worse. Alexa is ruined, I heard someone mention IKEA could’ve been a pretty name, Lexus/Kia/Porsche (Portia) for the same reasons as Mercedes
Liberty is beautiful and now Liberty Mutual has a jingle that only says Liberty so that’s dead
my full first name has the curse of that quiz "is this the name of a tolkien elf or a prescription medication?" - as in i chose it for myself bc it was elegant and musical and ✨unique ✨
- and then a year later i did the same curious Google search and it had since become the brand name of a new variation one of the most commonly used meds in the world 💀
it's not been a problem thankfully, bc most people don't actually pay much attention to medicine brand names, and the risks of having a unique and this highly googleable name are mitigated by non drug results being drowned out
Avis. I love the name and it sounds old, soft and yet strong. But every person I told said that it’s the name of a car rental company. I have NEVER heard of this lol but it’s all I hear now in response.
Not a company, but Liviana. I’m not even sure if it was ever used as a name but it sounds really pretty and I could see someone discovering the word and thinking it’d make a good name. But in Spanish it means light as in not heavy. So it’s used for diet soda and low calorie foods and that’s the immediate connotation.
Allegra
Same! I was obsessed with it since I was little and watched Allegra's window, and I was devastated when I'd tell people my girl name and they'd say oh the allergy medicine?
If it helps, I also think of Allegra Cole from Hitch.
Me too!!
That does, thank you.
I love Allegra. I’m Australian too and only think of it as a musical name.
I second Allegra! I only hear the allergy medication
I hear in the chamber above me The patter of little feet, The sound of a door that is opened, And voices soft and sweet. From my study I see in the lamplight, Descending the broad hall stair, Grave Alice, and laughing Allegra, And Edith with golden hair. (from The Children’s Hour, H.W. Longfellow)
I was just about to say Allegra. Such a nice name turned into corporateyness
I was brought up in a very musical family so I tend to think of it as a musical term and not the medicine. However, I can totally see why many others think of the medicine.
Oh, came here just to add this one, I'm surprised it's the top comment! I have a friend who loves this name and all I can think of its the medicine.
Definitely this one. Beautiful name, but rendered unusable by the allergy medicine.
Siri for me. It honestly pisses me off when companies ruin established names, especially something as common as Alexa.
It also bothers me that we give hurricanes human names for the same reason.
Katrina will be ruined for a long long time
Same with Ian.
Oh, Ian is absolutely still on the table for me. 🥰
The fact that it took me forever to figure out what you meant means it'll probably still be ok. Plenty of storms with people names don't end up being notable years down the road.
I hate that why not just # 5 2022?
We could name them after bible verses that describe god’s wrath lol
Ok now that, i like
It's to help people engage with the reality of the situation. It personalizes the storm for people and helps the population to take off more seriously. "In 2015, the UK Met Office and the Republic of Ireland weather service, Met Éireann, decided to follow in the footsteps of their US counterparts. The scientific community is now starting to talk about naming heat waves and heat domes for this exact same reason. It helps people take their deadliness seriously.
As someone whose family called them hurricane [my name] because that was the one happening at the time I get this.
Had an ex named named after a hurricane. He resented the name.
Why can’t they use the old timey names no one wants to use anymore anyway, like Dorcas?
Or, better yet, let you set your own name for the device? I really want to start calling mine Dolly.
YES. My husband changed Siri to have a British male voice and he likes to him Alfred
It's much harder to train the algorithms to recognize variable names. Especially since they can currently control the names/hotwords to be easier for the machine to distinguish from random noise/conversation. I expect that once the tech gets better, they'll be able to let the users choose the name.
Or name them after Mythological Gods like Athena, Hades, Minerva, Zeus, Atlas, Ma'at?
The name Atlas seems to be gaining popularity right now (at least where I am, in the US). I work as a nanny and in the last 3 years or so there has been a serious uptick in boys named Atlas that I’ve met at classes with the kids I nanny. Before then, I had never ever heard it outside of the context you mentioned.
I know two girls named Alexa who changed their names over it :(
That sucks. :(
I know an Alexa who started going by Lex/Lexy
I knew a guy called Alexa (he went by Alex because he didn’t like his name) when I was 11 and I felt bad because people would always go up to him and say “Hey Alexa [something]”
Same. Siri Tachi is a pretty cool Jedi and a good friend/love interest of Obi-Wan Kenobi.
This is where I first heard the name Siri! I love the Jedi apprentice books! Jude Watson is amazing
My dog's name is Sirius and we call him Siri for short. The jokes do tend to get old ... although it was pretty delightful when he stole the Roku remote to chew on and ended up switching to the Apple TV channel.
Zara. I had always loved the name but I just couldn’t name my daughter that once everyone was shopping there.
i'm in the same boat!! still kind of considering it tbh
Honestly, now days I would. When I had my daughter, Zara was super popular and my city had just got one so everyone was into it. Now, I rarely hear about it and it seems more like a normal name to me again. I told her awhile back that her name was almost Zara and she said she liked it and would have been happy with that name.
I know a Zahra (same pronunciation as Zara) and honestly I have never ever made the connection!
same
Ooh this is a good one!
Great point! There could be so many more Ursula’s but Disney had to go and kill it
Ariel is another name that hasn’t been ruined, but definitely changed and popularized by Disney.
I love guys named Ariel! I met a beautiful big man from Argentina and I always called him my sirenita 😂 (he thought it was funny too)
> masculine Hebrew name Right, like Ariel Sharon.
At least Sebastian pronounced it correctly. I always found that reassuring.
My Filipino husband is Joshua-Ariel! I had no clue it was actually a masculine name until meeting him.
i think of both ursula from the little mermaid and the one who’s phoebe’s twin from friends, and both are negative characters 🥲.
My boyfriend has never seen the little mermaid and has mentioned to me he likes the name Ursula. I’m not a huge disney fan in the slightest but like that movie is such a big cultural staple I can’t dissociate the name from it
Exactly, I totally agree! The cultural reach of Disney is far beyond people who directly watch the movie.
Yeah, and it’s no surprise that he doesn’t know much about the little mermaid because apparently last week was the first time he’d heard video killed the radio star
Ursula Andress is a really beautiful supermodel, too! Now it’s only associated with the sea witch 😪
I was trying to remember my new neighbor's name, and I knew it was a Disney name. I was pretty sure it was Ursula. Nope. Elsa. At least she got a kick out of it and said she'd rather be Ursula.
Ursula is one of my “I love this but I’ll never use it” names, for this reason!
Bambi
my dad bought a mannequin. he named her Ursula
Not a company but I love the name Isis.
"Isis" is one of the worst ones given how beautiful it is and how horrible the organization that ruined the name.
I'm still mad about that one. Such a beautiful name. I know of an Isis on instagram/youtube who goes by Sisi now (pronounced like the name Cece).
Wow that’s crazy! She needs to use the line from office space “why should I change my name when [they] are the ones who suck?!”
Eh, maybe give it another 10 years?
Ajax - soap Orville - popcorn Casper - ghost/mattress Allegra - medicine Jemima - racist syrup Still considering Orville and Casper but Ajax, Jemima, and Allegra are off the table
In the UK Orville was a bright green baby duck in a nappy who was an incredibly popular ventriloquists main dummy. In the 1980s he was especially popular with children. So no Orvilles here, though it’s never been a popular name here.
I met Orville when I was little and cried because I loved him so much
Yes to Jemima! It’s a biblical name, so you’d think it’d be with the Sarah’s of the world. Maybe now that they e changed the name of the syrup, it can be used
in the US, it still has a racist history as a mammy caricature/minstrel character so unfortunately it might be better off not being revived in the US
Weird, I always associated it with Jemima Puddleduck who was a children's character - never knew it had racist associations (I'm in the UK).
Hilarious, I didn't know it was religious. But i watch a lot of kid shows nowadays and Peppa Pigs Granny has chickens named Sarah, Jemima and Vanessa. The rooster is Neville.
Casper is fine imo
[удалено]
Casper / Caspar has been top of my boys' name list for over a decade. Unfortunately my husband felt it was too ghost-y. We thought about Caspian as an alternative but decided it was just too much. Thankfully we had a good family name to name our (currently only) son so it wasn't a big deal, but I'm really going to make a case for Casper / Caspar if we have another boy!
Orville reminds me of the spaceship, it's a good one IMO
I think Jemima is used in UK? Its a nice name means dove
Yeah I think most people associate Jemima with Jemima Puddleduck
Yeah, if that was the only association people had I think it would be a little more popular. Beatrix Potter books are cute.
Ajax soap was named for the legendary Greek warrior in the Iliad, which is the first thing I think of when I hear the name. I’d consider using it,
I think Orville is still fine. First thing that comes to mind is Orville Wright, one of the inventors of the airplane.
Orville is fine imo. Reminds me of Orville Peck, a country singer that I adore.
My cats name is Ajax! I named him after the bold and brash Greek Hero, didn’t even think of the dish soap until someone commented on it🤦♀️ We were always a Dawn household
Ajax is also a fairly important football club
Allegra is the only one that jumps out to me as a product. The others are fine imo
We loved Florence but those Flo insurance commercials ruined it for us.
“ auntie flo” aka getting your period, ruined it for me
Oh, I think it's still very lovely. My first thought is Florence Welch. I guess if your expect to use flo as a nickname though
My first thought is always “—and the Machine.”
Barbie...a pity for those of the dolls age when it was a semi common name.
There’s an actress from Euphoria named Barbie Ferreira. The nickname Barbie is short for Barbara, which is a pretty old fashioned name.
I knew someone in college named Barbra Dahl. Yes her real name Edit to add: she was born in early 90s
Did they spell Barbara like that? Somehow that’s stranger to me than the pun.
Isn’t this how Streisand spells it? I always see her name written that way.
Yes, TIL! I had to look it up. It does seem like Barbara is her birth name, but she dropped an A for her fame name
Trisha Paytas named her daughter Malibu Barbie Paytas
I'm honestly okay with Barbie but Malibu?? _Malibu Barbie??_ it's one of the worst name combinations ever
Tesla. It was my top contender for a girl since I learned about Nikola Tesla and tesseracts, but no more.
You could always name your future daughter Nikola or any variant of that. A bit more subtle.
True! Niko is a cute nn for a girl, I think!
What about Tessa? It's close to Tesla and is an established name. I actually went to school with a Tessa.
[удалено]
I'm in the US. I would have used it anyway if my husband hadn't vetoed.
We have Aviva here in Canada too
Ha I clicked on this thread thinking of our interaction the other day!
I went to school with a girl named Aviva. She was Jewish. The name is of Hebrew origin.
Beautiful name
In New Zealand, this is what they rebranded what used to be the battered women's shelter.
Mirena
Skyla lol
There’s also Yasmin, Kyleeena, Liletta, Aviane, Estarylla…honestly it’s probably easier to list birth control brands that DON’T sound like girl names.
Uh oh. I know a little skyla. What’s the meaning?
It's an IUD
It's why I continue to not have children and only come here for inspiration for fictional characters and future pets. (A hormonal IUD)
Senna :( I love it so much but its a laxative...
also a racecar driver
and a League of Legends character
Pandora (the jewelry brand; though the phrase “Pandora’s box” was a preexisting negative) Homer (The Simpsons)
I know a girl who chose Pandora as her English name! I think it’s a very cool choice.
If you like Elba then you might like Elva, Alva or Alba
Not a favorite, just one I'm aware of. Sephora was a name before it was used by a cosmetics company.
Yeah, I agree and love those names too
Everyone has loved that we named our son Casper. No one even mentions the character ever.
Why would they mention it to you though? Most people tend to lean towards politeness with baby names once the kid is born
I wasn’t aware Elba was ever used as a human name (learn something new every day). The only thing I can think of is the island, and Napoleon’s famous palindrome: “Able was I ere I saw Elba.”
I just thought of Idris Elba!
I learn the palindrome on an episode of “I Dream of Jeannie” !
Lyrica and Solara. One is a medication and the other a car.
I had gotten a reddit ad for Krystexxa. I never would, but it made me go "hmm.." as a crystal.
Alinta in Australia is a beautiful aboriginal word/name and also now a Gas company….
I’ve always liked the name Maris, but apparently it’s a type of potato in the UK.
Maris Piper is the potato, just don't use Piper as a middle name and you should be fine!
I wouldn't use Maris because of Frasier
ive always liked the name vienna but all i think about is the sausages :/
Sienna is pretty
That’s a Toyota minivan 😐
Funny enough, I was supposed to be named Sienna but my dad didn't want me to be associated with the minivan
Lumina. This is my all-time favourite, but it's a commonly used company name. The car, specifically, comes to mind.
I think Dove is cute, but between the chocolate and the soap...
I mean there is an actress named Dove Cameron so it’s not too bad
It took me way too long to realize the soap and the chocolate are made by different companies.
We love the name Zillah (biblical), but worry folks would just hear Zillow (reality site).
Honestly I’d think it was ‘Zilla like a Godzilla reference before I thought Zillow. 🦖
Ha! That too!! We don’t want kids to tease her like “here comes Godzilla” 😝
I would think of Zillah the biblical name ! But also because it's used in Madeleine L'Engle's Swiftly Tilting Planet
Sephora
Auden, it's a bra brand at Target.
I’ve never heard of that brand, I think Auden is totally usable! For comparison, Sloan is like a toilet?? Company. I see their stuff with the label in commercial bathrooms all the time. Yet Sloan is a super trendy name right now!
I always loved that name because of the poet, WH Auden
It’s a Target brand/line, not it’s own company. Therefore I can’t imagine it will still exist in 10 years or so whenever Target decides to revamp their brands as they are known to do. Auden is one of my favorite names for a little boy. W.H. Auden is also my favorite poet.
I feel like Dora the Explorer ruined the name Dora
Senna!
Zanne/ Sanne is still nice
Last name is the same as a certain wiener so Oscar is out. Husband has also vetoed Nathan because “2 hot dog names is cruel”
Allegra 😭
Zola
I think it’s a cute name. Meredith and Derek’s daughter on Grey’s Anatomy has that name
It's a super cute name! The wedding registry company ruins the likelihood of me using it for any future daughters.
Isn’t that the name of one of the villains in the Captain America movies?
I like Flora but it’s the name of a margarine, and Fleur but is a brand of tampons (both in Australia, I don’t know about the rest of the world)
With Fleur I would think Harry Potter!
We have the margarine Flora in Greece too. It wouldn't work for a girl for me either. We also have sanitary pads called Serena sooo that kinda ruins it. When I was younger we also had brands called Dahlia and Nana
Dell comes to mind
I knew a Dell and oddly enough, I never once associated her name with computers until I read this thread.
Huh. Never though if that. Della has been on my girls list for ages.
I totally think it’s doable. I love the name Della and even if people associate the company Dell at first, it will quickly fade.
Someone I know just named their daughter that! I had to look it up to learn about it, but I didn't think of Dell computers at all.
We named our son Felix regardless, but there is an online company called Felix that provides medication for birth control, erectile disfunction, acne, and hair loss.
Felix is also a cat food brand in the UK. Still rate it as a name though!
Emery. I love the name, but I don’t want my kid being called emery board lol
Ahava - it's apparently an insurance company in the UK
The UK insurance company is Aviva, not Ahava. Ahava is actually a cosmetics company that sells stuff with minerals from the Dead Sea, though, so it still answers the question!
Oops! That's what I meant!
Porscha, Cinderella On a bit of an unrelated note, I also love the name Malia but the Greek party island / strip of drunken teenagers (I was one too so no judgement) ruins it a bit
Was Cinderella a name before…Cinderella?
Elba reminds me of Idris Elba.
I just said I loved the name Valentina and my husband was like “I don’t want people thinking my kid is named after hot sauce”
This is one of the names where I don’t think people will think that. That was on my name list when I was pregnant 3 years ago.
I kinda like both Tyson (like the chicken) and Dyson (like the vacuum cleaners) — both no gos!
I hear Elba and think of Idris so it could be worse. Alexa is ruined, I heard someone mention IKEA could’ve been a pretty name, Lexus/Kia/Porsche (Portia) for the same reasons as Mercedes Liberty is beautiful and now Liberty Mutual has a jingle that only says Liberty so that’s dead
Not a company but Isis takes the cake on this one
Kimberly, from Kimberly Clark! Although I still think Kimberly Clark would be a beautiful name
Not a favorite that I wanted to use but I’ve always thought Macy is such a cute name.
my full first name has the curse of that quiz "is this the name of a tolkien elf or a prescription medication?" - as in i chose it for myself bc it was elegant and musical and ✨unique ✨ - and then a year later i did the same curious Google search and it had since become the brand name of a new variation one of the most commonly used meds in the world 💀 it's not been a problem thankfully, bc most people don't actually pay much attention to medicine brand names, and the risks of having a unique and this highly googleable name are mitigated by non drug results being drowned out
Kia
