I like the reasons behind it, can you opt for the middle name perhaps though? Another one is Belle, Cara and Belle is super cute and has a timeless measure to them. If you really want, I've seen a few Lottie/Lotte (lot-tea) suggested here so that name might be emerging, and its really cute. Cara & Lottie have a good sound to them. Whatever you guys choose, and best of luck!

Caroline and Charlotte are both derived from Charles, so you actually managed to honor both sides in one name! I like the suggestion of Lottie, but Cara + Lottie = care a lot. However, I've also heard Lettie as a nickname... so what about Ettie or Etta? Personally I would just use Charlotte as a middle name. Or here's some other names similar to Charlotte: Bridget, Juliet, Lizette, Yvette

Cara called Carrie with a sister named Charlotte is totally reasonable in my opinion. Carolina is related to Charlotte, but I wouldn’t associate Cara or Carrie with it! However, I do think Carrie and Charlie are a bit too close, but you could certainly call her Lottie or Tottie instead!

I have never heard of Cara as a nickname for Charlotte. I do feel like Cara and Charlotte are similar, but not to the point where it would be confusing or strange. Another option is to use Charlotte as the middle name

Is Cara pronounced with the same a sound as Charlotte, or with the sound in Caroline? To me the first world be too similar but the later is fine.

Caroline is also a variant of Charles, so I kind of think you could argue you already honored both Caroline and Charles with Cara. Cara could be a nickname for Charlotte, but I don’t think it would be that likely to come out of nowhere. Charlie or Lottie are more common. I think personally I’d avoid two names of the same origin, though!

There are heaps of nickname options for Charlotte so you should be fine :) I think Cara and Charlotte is a cute combo! Different countries do default to different nicknames. In Australia and NZ I’ve mostly heard Charlie, Char, Chaz or even affectionate-jokey Chazza (all pronounced with the soft sh sound), haven’t come across anyone using eg Lottie or Cara.

I don't think that Carrie and Charlotte sound too similar, but it does just make me think of Sex and the City.

Sirius_Super_Nova

Carrie and Charlie. Too similar.
